Re: Group 3 Check-In: EDD 7/17-7/24

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 18/25W4D

Baby is the size of a(n): footprint is the size of a AAA battery :)

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink

    Upcoming Appointments: checkup on 4/30

How are you feeling?: If I had a dollar for every time I heard that :p I feel pretty good except for the sciatica. It's not as bad as first tri, but certain motions aggravate it. I'm afraid to sit on the floor :D

    Rants/Raves:

Rant: I think I had my first hit of lightning crotch when I was falling asleep last night :(

Rave: So excited for gardening season! I'm dedicating the bed under the nursery window to be "baby's garden"--larkspur for the July birth flower, baby's breath, and something red since July's birthstone is ruby.

    Questions: Nope!

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? I've always loved the look of hyacinths. Daylilies remind me of my childhood home. I fell in love with alliums when visiting English gardens. I moved into my house in the fall and was pleasantly surprised to see peonies bloom in the spring! (My peony bush is my profile photo.) :)

Baby is the size of a(n): Cantaloupe

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink

Upcoming Appointments: Going to do my glucose test this week... next OB is 4/30

How are you feeling?: Big! Also now hear a popping noise in my back when I walk LOL! Was on my feet most of the weekend, so they would swell by the end of the night, plus it was actually in the high 70s this weekend which I'm sure didn't help with the swelling

Rants/Raves: Our closet upgrade was finished this weekend! I only cried once during the process LOL!! Now I'm loading the closet back up and trying to get it all organized so that it looks nice! I'll post a pic later. I'm in love with it.

Questions: How many of you have done your glucose test already?

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? I love penoys! @hestia14 I am super jealous you have these growing in your yard!! I also love dahlias.

  • @hestia14 I love that you are making a baby garden! I'm hoping with my MIL to tackle our herb garden next weekend if weather allows. Please post once you have it planted! Are you a big green thumb person?

    @jennm0724 Not til May 1.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 24w6d, C-Sec Scheduled 7/18

Baby is the size of a(n): Almost an acorn squash

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Blue

    Upcoming Appointments: Glucose May 1

How are you feeling?: Fuck awful to the point my boss is telling me to go home. So I probs will soon. I can't get good if any sleep. Zzzquil isn't really working anymore. I'm so tired I'm nauseated and my blood pressure/sugar keeps dropping randomly and making me dizzy. I can't imagine 3 more months of this. I'd rather than bronchitis again like I did with M in third tri.

Rants/Raves:  See above for my rant. No real rave as DH leaves for Africa for two weeks for work tomorrow.

Questions: How setup are you nurseries so far?

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? I LOVE DAFFODILS. My absolute favorite, followed closely by lily-of-the-valley. Everything else pales in comparison, but I do love spring here in the D.C. area. Cherry blossoms, forsythia, red buds, dogwoods, magnolias, azaleas, everything blooms! Granted, my allergies are haywire due to the pollen and pregnancy, BUT SO PRETTY.

    Daffodils from my yard

  • @jennm0724 I had my glucose test last week and I passed, but I think the sudden change in my diet for that day triggered a leg cramp. The receptionist told me to avoid sweets all day, so I replaced my sweet snacks with salty and wasn't getting the potassium I normally get from juice. I woke up in the middle of the night because my right leg locked up. It was sore for two days :/
@foodislove I'll definitely post a pic once it's done! The garden center has nothing right now, so it'll be at least a few weeks. I love gardening and DH is going to rebuild my vegetable garden bed this spring. I'm only going to plant about half of what I normally would. I really hope I can keep up with watering and harvesting once baby is here! Or maybe DH can install an automatic watering system...
Our nursery has been painted and we have the crib. but need to put it together. We're going to order new blinds soon.
I'm sorry you feel so crappy. :/ Maybe the glucose test will give you some answers about your blood sugar drops? Are you also getting the hemoglobin test done at that appointment?
  • @hestia14  Your garden sounds very sweet :)
@jennm0724 I've been doing glucose monitoring the past week, to avoid the sugar drink test. My numbers have been bad but they may just pass me straight to a GD diagnosis and skip the hassle of the 3hr test, which I will likely fail.. currently awaiting a call on that.
@foodislove  I haven't really a nursery per se, but the room is almost setup. Its our guest/office/flex space and I've got a bed for me, the bassinet, and lastly we just need to put together the changing station and storage setup when it's time.  I'm sorry you're feeling so bad :( What have been the biggest problems with your sleep?

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/19, 25w+3d

Baby is the size of a(n): Baby weighs as much as an ipad

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Green

Upcoming Appointments: I have an appt next week, but maybe this week too.

How are you feeling?: I don't even know where to begin, emotionally I'm pretty overwhelmed. There have been a lot of bumps in the road for my little family the past 6 weeks and to top it off, it looks like I have GD. The limits to the GI diet are really getting to me because I'm still having spikes when I shouldn't and combined with the MTHFR diet, I'm struggling to find food that I can eat.

Rants/Raves:  It would seem that my GD was caused by taking progesterone during the 1st tri, and although I can't do anything about that in hindsight, it just feels like a real kick in the pants.

    Questions:

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? I've always loved peonies, but since moving to the PNW I love the abundance of crocuses, magnolias and cherry blossoms.

  • @foodislove I'm sorry you're feeling so bad! Are you able to fall asleep, but not stay asleep? I wake up a lot during the night, just so uncomfortable from all the hip pain. For the nursery, we haven't bought anything yet! It's still my home office, slowly getting the projects done to be able to empty out this room. I'm hoping after my shower in May I can start assembling her room.

@hestia14 good to know! The nurse told me if I like to eat cereal, don't eat any that morning or I'd probably fail due to the extra sugar. I think I'm going to try to go do it first thing in the morning and hopefully can manage my diet during the day to offset all the sugar.

@mamanbebe I'm sorry you're having a tough time! I hope that you can find a diet that works for you! Nothing worse than having so many food restrictions!

  • @jennm0724 My GD test isn't til the last week of April (week 28)... so we'll see!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    DD July 17, 25W5D

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Prairie Dog

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out):
    Green

    Upcoming Appointments:
April 24, another U/S to check on Placenta movement (praying its moved up!)

    How are you feeling?:

Not bad ... waddling more and more.

    Rants/Raves:

The snow is ALMOST all melted in my front yard. Its pretty messy and gross outside but spring is in the air!!

    Questions:

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower?

I love a beautiful garden or bouquet! Peony and hydrangea have always held a special spot in my heart. I can't wait to see things blooming.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:July 20 - 25+2

Baby is the size of a: napa cabbage

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out):baby girl

Upcoming Appointments:  end of month I think for my last monthly ob before moving to every other week

How are you feeling?: good. Slightly jealous of the ladies in group 1 that are hitting third tri 😊

Rants/Raves:   So tired of the same people at work telling me I still don’t look pregnant. Part of me wants to replying with a really dark comeback to make them back off, and the other part is a teensy bit worried about karma so won’t

    Questions:

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? Gerber daisies. They always look happy.

  • @mamanbebe I'm intrigued at all the glucose testing talk. Where did you get your monitor? I love measuring things. Although sounds like it's been less than fun for most folks.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/18

Baby is the size of a(n): cauliflower

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): green

Upcoming Appointments: end of April glucose test. I really don't mind the drink. Plus my Dr said I don't need to fast so I plan to eat and drink normally.

How are you feeling?: Terrible insomnia. Maybe the lack of sleep is causing irritability but I've been a total jerk to people.  At work I'm pretty distracted by constant kicking and just irritated in general.

Rants/Raves:  I took about 3ml of kids Benadryl last week to try to get some rest. This is like 1/3 of a child's dose. But I had a terrible feeling the next day! Seems like I just can't get sleep.

Questions: @foodislove our nursery is inhabited by a toddler! So I'll have the baby in the guest room with me for a while. I took the rock n play out of storage recently so we are set!  I have a dresser in the guest room with burp cloths, I'll wash the newborn clothes, and that's really it.

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? Hm.... Guess I'm not really a flower person. I'll say Carnation bc no one else likes them so I take pity on them.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: July 21 // 25w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): as long as a standard sized brick

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Blue

Upcoming Appointments: @jennm0724 did my glucose test last friday. should get the results at my next midwife appt on Apr 16th. unless they need to call me in before that.

How are you feeling?: like @hestia14, if i had a dollar for every time someone asked me lol. on the weekend i saw a bunch of people i haven't seen in a while so that was the #1 question.  overall still feeling pretty good, pretty normal. feeling like im starting to waddle a tiny bit. also starting to feel a bit more hungrier than before.  :p

Rants/Raves:  i think spring is finally here to stay! :) on the rant side, my bosses boss is annoying me with work travel expectations. she has no kids and is single so i feel like she has ZERO clue about anything. prior to getting pregnant i would travel whenever and to wherever, but now i've expressed concern with travelling (driving) far distances 3+ hours, and also that if they want me up north one more time before i take time off it has to be in april (bc i'll be flying). i've told my direct boss and he agrees with me, so he supposedly spoke to her. we'll see. i'm still waiting to find out when they want me up north for a few days, but the longer they wait ... then i might just have to say no.

    Questions: none.

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? like @canuckmomma i like peonies and hydrangeas. i also love tulips.

@hestia14 love your garden idea! i have a black thumb so i can't even. i kill any plant that comes into my home lol. should be interesting this year, since our (new) home has an amazing garden that was done up by the previous owners lol.

i really hope you feel better soon @foodislove

i hope things start looking up for you @mamanbebe

@finnflan ughhh that would annoy me too, like wtf. why is that even a comment, even IF that's the way they felt they just shouldn't say ANYTHING then. just keep it moving. ugh. im annoyed for you and want to slap them. lol.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:July 18th

Baby is the size of a(n): prarie dog

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue

    Upcoming Appointments: iron infusion friday

How are you feeling?: better, this will be my 3rd iron treatment and im starting to have more energy and less out of breath.

Rants/Raves: still waiting for our house to close... might be pushed till begin of may. Feeling stressed because i wont have much time to get the house livable before baby

Questions: GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? Roses, my middle name is rose

@mamanbebe whats the MTHFR diet? i have that mutation and i only have to take an extra folbic vitamin daily for life
  • @mixitupmel Do you know what kind of plants the old owners put in? Sometimes all you need to do is mulch and water to keep it going. I personally think lavender is very easy to take care of--animals don't eat it and it keeps mosquitos away :)
@blackrosevamp If you don't mind me asking, was your anemia really bad to require an iron infusion? My doctor just called me and told me I was slightly anemic and should take an iron supplement. I've been out of breath too and I'm wondering if the anemia is part of it.
@jennm0724 Love the closet! I wish we had a walk-in. And hi doggo! :)
  • @canuckmomma I hope its moved up!! my fingers are crossed for you!

@finnflan its always something right? Either you don't look pregnant or you look TOO pregnant. people suck and should shut up!

@Cbeanz taking pitty on the carnation LOL! That one made me laugh for sure. I hope you can figure out something to help you sleep without being so drowsy the next day.

@mixitupmel I hope your direct boss did have that conversation so you don't have to travel so late! Otherwise stand your ground.

@blackrosevamp I hope your house closes soon! I remember going through the escrow process almost two years ago for the first time, its so damn stressful. I couldn't imagine doing it while pregnant, I'd be a hot mess!!

@hestia14 I love our walkin, we got really lucky with this house. That's Gunner, my first baby LOL. I always tell him he is still my baby boy no matter what.

  • @jennm0724 nice closet!!

@blackrosevamp For the most part, it involves eating non-acidic foods. I had leaky gut issues leading up to the MTHFR test and diagnosis, so I was already put on the diet during the summer. It can be impossibly hard to follow, but for the most part avoiding gluten, dairy, sugar, caffeine, certain nuts, corn, heavy starches, cornfed meats, farmed fish, spinach, and the list goes on. For supplements during pregnancy I also do an MTHFR-friendly prenatal + extra methylfolate and methyl b-12. I was in much better health after following all of that, but in carb-craving pregnancy there have been so many allowances.. which now have to stop due to GD :( RIP cookies and pizza.
  • @jennm0724 nice closet!!! i love it! :) i think my direct boss did speak to her for real, she hasn't mentioned it since, but if it gets too late then i'm definitely not going.

@hestia14 actually the previous owners were SO organized they left us a diagram of the garden and planters and what they planted in there. I gotta get that folder out soon so i can reference what's left there. to prepare for the winter we had someone come and winterize the garden and rip out anything that wasn't a perennial. but from what i recall they did mention it was relatively low maintenance. *crossing fingers* might have to get some lavender to your point, there is one rabbit that loves to come do his business in our garden lol.

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 25+5

Baby is the size of a(n): cauliflower

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): blue

Upcoming Appointments: 23rd for my glucose test

How are you feeling?: pretty good minus allergies

Rants/Raves:  were supposed to have a blizzard tomorrow and I’m so done with snow. I also think my allergies might be more of a sinus infection.

    Questions:

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower?

I love getting sunflowers but I love my rose bushes. We cleared out more space to plant another this year. We normally have to wait until after Memorial Day to plant because of late snow.

Hi ladies! My first time here.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7.18.19

Baby is the size of a(n): Tarte Tatin

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): Pink!

Upcoming Appointments: had an ultrasound yesterday, all seemed well with baby! Glucose test in 2 weeks.

How are you feeling?:  Stressed and moody, although physically ok.

Rants/Raves:  I wish I didn’t have to work FT and could actually enjoy my pregnancy with walks in the woods with my dog, yoga, etc. Instead I’m commuting by subway every day.

    Questions:

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower. My favorite flower is the tiger lily. 🌷

  • @Knottie6fe8a3b70d3c124a welcome due date twin! Glad to hear about the ultrasound! You might want to change your username to something unique so it’s easier to tag and identify you—instructions are in a pinned post. I also would suggest formally introducing yourself in the pinned intros thread so we all know we have a newcomer 😊
  • @hestia14 my level were not too low, but i had pernicious anemia before i became pregnant. My hematocrit is actually good. But my ferratin levels are low, so i wasent carrying enough oxygen. I see a hematologist and they do venofer infusions in the office. After first trimester it is safe to get iron infusions.
  • Got my glucose results through my health app, it was 138, it shows on the high end of the scale. So now I'm waiting around to see if I get a call today saying I'm good or if I need to do the 3hr.. I'm hoping I'm good!
  • @jennm0724 Good luck! If you avoid eating carbs/starches (potatoes, beats, carrots, peas, beans, bread, pasta, sugar, etc) at dinner and and have a protein snack like nuts before bed the night before, you might have a better chance of keeping your numbers down.

@jennm0724 love the closet!! It looks great! As for the glucose test, my first was one number away from failing but they said a pass was a pass so fingers crossed for you!
@foodislove I hope you feel better... that sounds awful! Our nursery is 100% set up... for the kid already in it haha! We made it gender neutral and don't plan to change anything. We are also keeping DS2 in it for a good while longer (probably until fall). I was just thinking about starting to go through clothing and at least pull out some gender neutral stuff. I'm going to either put something in my closet for baby 3s clothes or clear out my half of the dresser. And the pack and play is already set up in its spot, but full of toys lol.
@mamanbebe sorry you are feeling so down... can you talk to a nutritionist that might be able to help you get a good list of foods going for both diets? I can imagine that would be really tough!!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 25+1 / July 23rd, but being induced at 37 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): baseball glove

Team (Green, Blue, Pink, Finding out): green

Upcoming Appointments: regular prenatal the end of April

How are you feeling?: I'm tired and grouchy... DS2 is some type of awful sleep regression and it's been absolutely brutal. It's hard to sleep train when you don't want a toddler to wake up, but we are doing our best! I was having some bad heartburn, but it has let up the past two days! Lastly, the sciatic pain is really setting in!

Rants/Raves: It's spring and we have weather to match it!!! My days are so much better now that the kids can play outside! We also got new neighbors back in December but are just now getting to know them and turns out they are expecting in July also!

    Questions: None for me!

GTKY: In honor of spring, what's your favorite flower? I love peonies, zinnias, daisies, and anything wildflower looking!

  • @ccmama3 hang in there with the sleep regression. It's so hard but I promise it's temporary. Every time I'm pregnant I feel like my "outside"  kids have a sense about things and regress. But you get through it eventually. I hope you get rest!
  • @Cbeanz thanks!! DS1 has been regressing too :bawling: but not as bad. He just learned he can open his bedroom door himself and has been crawling in our bed at 3am a few days a week. I'm just hoping they both get with the picture by July!!
  • @ccmama3 I actually went to see the fertility naturopath that I worked with in the fall, last night. She was one of the people who set the standards for my alkaline/ MTHFR diet, and she gave me a protocol to follow for now. It is still severely limiting, but if I don't follow it then I have the consequence of giving up having a midwife and an out of hospital birth.
  • @mamanbebe gotcha! Hang in there... you're doing a great job!
  • @mamanbebe thanks! Im trying to be aware of the sugar in things, but damn I love sugar!

@ccmama3 They haven't called to say I failed, so I'm guessing 1 away like you said is still a pass!!

@hakele Super jealous of your vacation, I'm glad you and DH are enjoying it!! Your tattoo is super cute!

  • @hakele I'm not a tattoo person in general but I LOVE yours!!!
  • @ccmama3 Thank you! I am not a tattoo person, either. I got this as a tribute to my mother when she passed. She loved flowers more than anyone I know. We would drive down the road and if she saw a patch of wildflowers, we had to stop and look and take pictures of them. So that is why I wanted them. I was super picky about the spot. And honestly, if my college roommate hadn’t become a tattoo artist, I wouldn’t have done it. She drew it for me and did the tat at cost. Her other work is incredible. I will probably get another one some day, just not sure when/where/why/what it will be.
  • Hey ladies, would you be ok with adding in group 4 to this week's checkin? There was some discussion in the Randoms thread about how they have so few mamas in their group that they sometimes skip making a thread. Frenchbaby18 is on-board with joining us, but I'm waiting to hear back from the others.
  • The more the merrier!
  • Thank you group 3 :)
  • All good with me!! I always wondered why they didn't have a constant weekly update!
  • @frenchbaby18 Since no one has responded in the group 4 thread yet, do you think it would be ok to give it a couple of hours and then just go ahead and combine? We can do something like this to start:

    Group 3 / Group 4 check-in (July 17-24 & 25-31) w/o 4/15
  • Yeah, I'd just say
    Group 3 / Group 4 Check-In (July 17-31) w/o 4/15.
I think that covers it! And I'm happy to have Group 4 in ours!
