Re: Monday B*fest 4/1

  • @chillycanadian Yesss!!! All the bathroom trips in the middle of the night ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„. But, I was reading an article the other day that new research suggests that sleeping long periods of time is potentially bad for the fetus because your blood pressure spikes slightly when you wake and that is good for the baby. So on that front, I should have one hell of a healthy baby!!ย

  • @sourlemon - I know I'm late, but let me tell you this: my 2 y.o. had to have a front tooth extracted about 6 months ago. To the tune of $1,000. Including full sedation in the OR at a local hospital and the "specialization" of bringing in a maxillofacial surgeon. For a singular tooth extraction. Zero stitches, 3 minute procedure. If she had been 4, it would've been a $50 co-pay at the dentist and local anesthesia for approx $400. I hate it for you, I completely feel your pain. Oh, and this was because my toddler is clumsy AND the dog we were fostering was a total a$shole and kept chasing her around the house (she was running away from her and a rug came out from under her, she slammed both front teeth on the hardwood floor, but only one was so deeply impacted that it had to come out).

@chillycanadian - Oh no! I totally feel you on that schedule. For some reason, I pee 3-4 times between 19:00-22:30 every. damn. night. So even if I get to bed "early," I'm still screwed. I hope you got some coffee. I was up at 03:00 administering some Mucinex to DD1 and couldn't fall back to sleep until my alarm went off at 06:15. Ugh.

    I have a few things:
    (1) I live in the Deep South and it's 37* and rainy outside. I swear I saw wet snowflakes when I was coming in from lunch. WTF. Tomorrow's supposed to be 70*. More WTF.
    (2) This coworker I have despised for nearly 9 years (who has been blackballed in our department, throughout our organization, btw - because he's so damn awful and rude) has decided to freak out about something absolutely minuscule that has been an issue for well over a year now ... but decided to copy my boss on the initial freakout. My boss felt the need to hold a 16:30 meeting about it; I have sense pulled the report for every quarter for the last 5 quarters and am bringing it to said meeting - showing it has been a "known" issue that he has worked around in the past, but - for some reason - chose today/this moment to freak out. Because I have a good relationship with a majority of the data people in the company (I used to be the finance liaison on that area) ... I got it fixed in under an hour, BUT IT DIDN'T NEED TO BE A BIG DEAL THAT TURNED INTO A 4:30P MEETING.
    (3) Some idiot in the company has been trying to fax something to my phone extension for the last 2 hours. Approximately every 10-15 min. I did some reverse engineering to figure out where the fax machine is housed and called someone in that area to see if they could warn the person that it is not going through because it's not a good number. Turns out, the genius was not dialing "9" to call out of the company *eye roll*. It was pretty difficult because someone in Corp Comm got lazy about 5 years ago and decided we no longer needed printed telephone/fax directories, BUT no one has their correct or current number in the HRIS system. So ... more wasted time.
    (4) My Work Spouse (fun fact: DH also works at the same company, but is in a different "organization" and actually has his own WS who is - incidentally - a good friend of mine and fellow IF-champion) has recently gotten a promotion and I'm super pumped for him ... but it means I can't just pop in and shoot-the-shit or come to him with my annoyances and grumblings. I hate feeling like I'm selfish for needing/wanting that, but grrrrr ... It feels so good to have someone commiserate AND it be someone who can actually create change re: the person who always causing me such headaches (see #2).

  • @MamaK225 I feel you on the weather. I didnโ€™t bring a coat today thinking โ€œitโ€™ll warm upโ€, it always warms up... Well it has not warmed up today - ick! I told DH the neighborhood pool opens in a month and he looked at me crazy, like he doesnโ€™t know itโ€™ll be 90 by then ๐Ÿ˜‰.ย
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 - There must be something in the air! I had to remind DH to write the check for our deposit for our pool membership (ours also opens around Mother's Day) AND I happened to get an email from them reminding people to go ahead and send those deposits in.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOO ready for pool weather. I know others may be a little nervous about being preggo at a pool, but I'm sooooooooo ready and will totally be reppin' a two piece with this big ol' belly. At least it'll take the eyes away from my thighs and the fact I haven't had a chance to fill in my big ol' back tattoo with color. I got it done around Memorial Day last year and I was expecting to only need 2 weeks for it to heal and get it filled, but they didn't have an appt for 3 more weeks - and that was two days after my FET, so no-can-do. Then it failed and I got so wrapped up in the three subsequent attempts that I never made the appointment until it was too late.ย  :sย

  • @peachy0709 my mother goes to church Every Sunday- on the way to and from she curses out every single driver on the road. She had to pay my brother to complete his confirmation. Him and his wife are rude to DS1 who is 10 and the sweetest child ever. Theyโ€™ve been invited to baby shower, baptism and birthday party for DS2- no response and never showed up. First thing my mother asked when I got engaged was if my SIL was going to be MOH... noooooo!! Lol Iโ€™m sorry about your craziness tooย
  • @chillycanadian omg the 0230 is me except I give in and just eat so I can that off my mind but all I did today was pee. Soo funnnn ๐Ÿ˜
  • @mamak225 you go for that 2 piece! I also can't wait for pool/splash pad weather, though this belly will be firmly covered up no one wants to see all the stretch marks and when i'm not pregnant the residual twin-mom tummy....ย

  • I'm glad I have a backyard pool and dont need to worry about other people looking at me! Last time I wore a 2 piece I was 13 weeks pregnant with DD2 and already showing...though it really just looked like I was heavy. I did buy a 1 piece maternity suit for this year just in case I take the kids to splash time at the public pool or get away to a local-ish resort for a girls weekend. I dont want my belly hanging out.

  • I dragged my exhausted butt to the grocery store since chicken breasts are on sale, and it's 10% off day today (if you spend $50+).
    But no.
They are "sold out" of chicken.
The bananas I planned to buy were mushy and brown.
No grapes (apparently baby is craving fruit).
No banana cream pie. Which I know I don't neeeeeeeed. But I've been craving since I saw it in the flyer.

I didn't bother buying anything else on my list since without the $40 in chicken I was planning to buy, I wasn't going to make it to the $50 minimum. And they didn't have any of the crap I'm craving anyway.
    Bah.
  • @chillycanadian - With DD1, I was craving banana pudding (a specialty down here in the South). I know it's not quite the same as BCP, but I did find I could get 90%+ of the craving satisfied with sliced bananas & Nilla wafers (or the Ultimate Vanilla wafers from Trader Joes, if you're fancy like that and have one locally - I don't). Bonus: you don't have to make it or refrigerate/worry about it going bad. Sorry they were out of chicken, I hate when things like that happen. I don't like crowds as it is, so showing up with the main item missing would really make me upset.

  • I know it's Wednesday BUT I saw my Aunt for the first time since I told her that I was expecting, and despite the fact that I am showing now she told me she could tell I was pregnant because my face was getting "quite round" since the last time she saw me. Which is fair, my face has definitely gotten chubbier but there are other giveaways that I am expecting than my chubby cheeks...
  • @MamaK225 OMG BANANA PUDDING SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED some NOW! Haha. That's actually probably what I wanted out of the pie haha. Or..banana pudding with sliced bananas in it...how freaking weird is that.
We don't have Trader Joe's here :( though maybe I could find something similar in one of the stores here!
  • @chillycanadian - Definitely see if you can find the Nilla wafers, I assume they're pretty universal ... right? Google told me they're normally in the baking or cookie aisle up there. If not, there appears to be a knock-off called Mr. Christie's Nilla. Best of luck! And yeah, now *I* want some, too. Dang it.

  • So the OB just prescribed me Enoxaparin shots. I had the first one today. (It's a higher dose than normal, which means more fluid that has to be shoved in).

Omg. That is the absolute worst shot ever. I have never had a needle hurt like that before. Holy fuck. Im Literally crying.ย
The needle itself is fine. But half way through the shot it started hurting. And the more fluid administered, the worse it got. By the end, the entire upper half of my leg feels like a Charlie horse. My knee feels... Funky. Like the tightness of swelling.ย  It's like it caused a giant muscle spasm. But the shot doesn't go into the muslce.

I feel terrible because my husband feels awful for being the one to administer it since I cried.

Holy fuck. I did NOT imagine it would be this bad. I expected a little stinging.
I can't imagine this tight pain in my belly for the shot tomorrow....
    I don't know that I can handle this.ย

    Excuse the language.
  • @chillycanadian Noooo! I was hoping it would be like a PIO shot or something :/ did you call your OB's office to make sure it was normal for the reaction to be so severe?ย
  • @chillycanadian I'm sorry the shot was so bad. Would icing ahead of time and then a hot pack after help?ย  I agree its good to check with your doc that what you experienced was normal

  • @oklahomak we are going to call today to see if we can split it into 2 locations. It means 2 pokes per day, but less fluid to inject under the skin in each spot. I was ok till we were about half way though. It was slightly uncomfortable and burning, but the pain didn't start until half way. And the last 20% or so was the absolute worst.
We called our family doc last night and he thought it was a good idea. So we will confirm it's ok with the OB.

(Also, I've had hundreds of needles. In school, we practiced on each other. So I had people Learning how to inject, and how to start IVs. I can handle needles, and handle injections. This was a whole new and unexpected level of sucking).

@wabash15 I was wondering about icing first last night! Not sure how it would affect the med. I know I can't heat after, as the medication causes bleeding and bruising, and heat would bring more blood flow to the area. But trying to numb the area first might help. Which is what I'll try If they won't let me split it into 2 locations.

Our cousin is also a doctor, and she did some research last night. Turns out I have to suck it up. *TW with my newly diagnosed genetic clotting issue, my chance of late term MC is increased 7 fold. So I HAVE to endure this for baby. Hopefully knowing that will make me tougher
  • @chillycanadian that sounds awful!!ย  I had a vitamin K IV injection a few years ago after a blood transfusion.ย  It BURNEDDDย  I told the nurse that it felt like the part in Harry Potter when he regrows his broken arm.ย  They gave me another IV injection (morphine or Lidocaine, I can't recall) to numb my arm so it wasn't so torturous.ย  Perhaps something like that is an option?
  • @agpandme oh my gosh I'm sorry! That must have sucked! I wonder if it was administered too fast, or if that's how vitamin K is. Ouchie!
I actually joked to DH that I would prefer him to start an IV every day and administer the enoxaparin that way ๐Ÿ˜‚ but it's meant to be a slow absorption over 24 hours, which is why it has to be subcutaneous (which is under the skin, before the muscle). So that sucks. Im not sure a topical anesthetic would do much, since the pain seems to come from the large amount of fluid, forcing the layers of skin and fat apart. But it's worth a try at least!

Last night in the shower, I panicked seeing a stream of blood heading to the drain. Then I laughed when I realized it was from my leg. Just pouring out of the tiny hole we'd made 4 hours earlier. ๐Ÿ˜‚

@chillycanadian I like your idea of splitting up the dose into two legs. Hopefully that does the trick!ย  I've given a lot of subcue injections to animals and the larger the dose, the smaller the animal, the more uncomfortable they are. Forcing the layers of skin apart just sounds so horrendous!ย  The nurse said that Vit K is just that way but my dose being pushed iv so they wanted to get it over with during the night shift.ย  The second injection to numb it worked like a charm and I went to sleep.ย ย
  • I am a professional procrastinator and haven't changed my name since we were married in 2013.ย  So I'm doing it now but I haven't ever received a certified marriage certificate (seriously I'm the worst LOL).ย  We don't live in that county any more so I am sending in an application.ย  Anyway, I just realised I need to have this form notarized.................another road block feeding my procrastination.
  • @agpandme - I still find it hilarious that we have all these rules around those documents, it feels so archaic. I can kind of understand the difference between states, but counties!? BTW - we got married in Vegas and they very highly stressed the annoyance of coming back to get the documentation at a later date, so we ended up getting like 5 copies :Dย

  • I could just drive to the next county and get it but it would be a day trip and I have no other reason to drive there.ย  I just made an appointment to have it done tomorrow.ย  I know if I sat on it, I wouldn't get it done and its been long enoughย  :D ย
  • @agpandme How big are your counties?!? I could drive across the state in half a day ๐Ÿ˜‚

@thirdtimesacharm2019 Okay I looked it up. Its a 2.5 hour drive one way to that court house.ย  If I'm lucky and lines are quick, it would be half a day but I usually like to stop and shop at the bigger stores when I'm out of town so it would end up costing me a lotย  :Dย  I'm in California so our counties can get pretty big especially considering the local terrain. It takes an hour to go the 30 mile drive through the mountain to get out of town. I can't just jump on a flat highway and floor it LOL
  • @agpandme Sounds like a great opportunity to shop for baby gear!
