Re: TFAS w/o 3/25

  • @marebear15 oh my gosh how absolutely horrifying. I don’t even know what to say. how is your sister doing now?  I hope you have some comfort in the fact that it’s a known issue now and they will do everything they can for your DD. I’m glad they are able to see her so soon. Make sure you take care of yourself too. Ugh. I’m so sorry you are going through this.

  • Oh my gosh @marebear15, that's terrifying. I hope your sister is okay. Thank goodness you're all getting tested/treated now. And FX so hard that your daughter is okay and doesn't need treatment. Please keep us posted <3
  • @marebear15 - I'm so sorry about everything that is going on! That is so scary! I hope that the pediatric cardiologist appointment goes well tomorrow and there is nothing to worry about with DD. On the positive side I guess that it's good that they figured this out now before anything really bad happened to anyone else. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

@marebear15 I work in the ICU and its pretty common for speech/swallowing issues to happen after intubation but most of the time this resolves on its own over time. Has she seen a speech pathologist? They are really helpful!
  • @Spartanrd4 - The week she spend in the ICU was in May of 2018, so almost a year ago. They told her it should resolve over time, and it has gotten better. But she has to be really careful drinking water otherwise she aspirates, and she starts coughing when she teaches in class (she's elementary ed.). She hasn't seen anyone about the issues yet.
  • @marebear15 I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's a good thing you can be proactive, though. I'm glad your sister is mostly doing well but I hope she's able to improve more over time.

@kpearse99 - Take Home Baby. I hate saying I'm TTC #2 because it technically will be my 3rd baby but 2nd THB.

AFM, the appointment didn't go well. My DD freaked out with the EKG and they never were able to get a good picture. So she's on a 24 hour monitor and we'll know more after we turn that in tomorrow.
  • @marebear15 oh man, I’m sorry. I hope you end up with some good results tomorrow! I mean, you’re totally due for a win.
  • Oh @marebear15 I'm so sorry the EKG didn't go as planned.  Poor little DD!!  Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers <3

  • @spartanrd4 – my count didn’t even include all the people I know who are due soon/summer either. yes please give me all the baby making water!

@kbrown2385 – FX you don’t need to move on to clomid.

@NYTino24 – FX for a normal LP for both of us! (or to get KU, I’d be happy with that too lol)

@bows22 – thanks! We are doing Disney Princess themed (her room is also this theme). It’s just going to be DH’s and my immediate families and one of our friends (who’s son is 6 months older than DD and is her boyfriend so he has to be there! Lol) so small but still going kinda crazy with decorations. If you haven’t checked out Oriental Trading for parties, you should!

@marebear15 – I’m glad your sister is doing well and I hope for continued improvement! GL with the 24-hour monitor. FX for good results!

WTF!!!! I’d love to think I just haven’t ovulated yet, but I’m getting crampy and that has meant a very early AF the last few cycles. The weird thing is there’s so much watery CM sometimes that it felt like I peed myself two or three times in the last few days, and despite my crazy delivery and hip issues, I haven’t had pelvic floor problems with incontinence and I know it isn’t urine!

TDLR: what’s going on?! Apparently not enough HIO... :/

    Edit: blazing positive OPK

@NYTino24 I usually get watery CM a few days before I start my period. Google says it's related to my lining beginning to break down. IDK if that's true though. 🤷‍♀️

ETA: Just saw you had a pos OPK (assuming recently?), so probably not the same as my issue. Just late O?
  • @NYTino24 I'm inclined to think you just haven't ovulated yet and maybe the cramping was that, especially since you still have watery CM. Have you been sick or had some drinks lately? Just trying to figure out reasons for your temps being so high and peaky.

@marebear15 I'm sorry the appointment didn't go well, hopefully they will have some answers with the monitoring.

So FF now says that I ovulated. Temps did rise, but IDK. CM didn’t seem right, but I know PCOS is super weird and I’ve only ever successfully tracked the O on cycles with Clomid. If I did O, our timing wasn’t terrible, but could have been better. I guess I’ll see what happens next. ETA: not using OPKs right now bc I didn’t want to waste the $$ until I knew it I O or not.

@NYTino24 Glad you got the positive OPK to help solve the confusion.

@marebear15 Will they tell you what the monitor showed right away or are you going to have to wait for the genetic testing?

  • @mercury94 - Once they download and interpret the results from the monitor, if it showed any PVTs (the arrhythmia), they will prescribe her a beta-blocker immediately, as Vtach can disintegrate quickly in to Vfib which causes sudden cardiac death. The genetic test will just be a confirmation test at that point.
  • @nytino24 - looks to me like you didn't O based on temps which is really annoying. I had 8 days of EWCM this cycle and I'm thinking it's a PP/BF type thing since TTC#1 I'd only have 3-4 days worth. Hopefully that blazing positive OPK you got is the real deal!
@mercury94 - FX that you Od!
@marebear15 - still thinking of y'all! I'm hoping that the monitor doesn't show any PVTs and that you and YH can relax.

What is the deal with HFM? My nephew "may" have it. I'd bet money he doesn't because SIL overreacts about every little bump and scratch but DD was around him the day before he started having a mild fever and she was around MIL (who babysits nephew) after he had the fever for a couple of days. Essentially nephew started having an on and off fever last Thursday and just yesterday had a red bump on his chin and lip.  Should I be worried? Should I keep DD away from even grandma and grandpa who see nephew almost everyday and watch him while SIL works part time? How risky is it to be around HFM if you are KU (not that I think I am I would just take a test sooner so that I can let my OB know if it's positive and this HFM thing is actually real)? DH's family just freaks about everything so I have a hard time knowing what I should actually be worried about.

  • @justkeepswimming8 HFM *usually* doesn't affect adults, but it can happen. Since it's highly contagious, you've all likely been exposed if that's what it was. Not much you can do about it now. Both my kids had it last year (yay daycare) and we (MH and I) didn't get it. It's no fun for a couple weeks. But it's a great way to wean kids off pacifiers, which we had to do with DD.
  • @NYTino24 I felt like I was peeing my pants 3 days before O last cycle and I was super crampy! I am glad you got a +opk!

  • @justkeepswimming8 my DD had HFM but like @ruby696 I didn't or DH but one of my friends did get it from her son. It first started actually as a rash on with blisters on her diaper area so I thought it was a bad diaper rash but then it started to spread to her hands, feet and in and around her mouth. I think once no more blisters appear they aren't contagious anymore.
  • @m6agua Nope, my body / temps have been messed up even though I’m 16 months postpartum. My LP has been super short and temps are still rocky after O. Looks like I didn’t O yet.... probably today or tomorrow.

@justkeepswimming8 Oh, no!!! HFM is so contagious and painful, from what I’ve heard! Be careful.

@marebear15 Sorry for the stinky news. I had a friend get basically the equivalent of a pacemaker in college and she’s doing great now. She’s a super active gym teacher now.

  • @justkeepswimming8 Yup, just like everyone else said HFM is highly contagious, but it is very rare that adults get it.  Kids can literally pick it up ANYWHERE... pretty sure DS got it from the grocery store (he put his mouth on everything...ugh) when he was like 2 or something.  But to comment on what @NYTino24 said about it being painful... from what I read and what my pediatricians told us when DS had it, they don't really feel any pain or discomfort from it.  That it just looks waaaaay worse than what it actually feels like.  I don't remember DS seeming to be really bothered by it either, it just looked really painful.  I just constantly slathered him in Aquaphor!

  • @justkeepswimming8 I wanted to add that my understanding is the exposure period is highest before the fever. That's why there's no way to catch it and keep them home before they expose others. Also, my kids lost fingernails and toenails from it, so be prepared in case that happens.
  • **semi-lurking, since I'm so far behind at this point, and technically not trying this cycle

@marebear15 Oh my gosh, that is so much stress!  I hope her results come back positive and you guys get to relax a little bit!

@justkeepswimming8 I actually got HFM from DS, but only in my throat.  It was AWFUL, but I don't think there would be a specific risk to someone who is pregnant.  DS didn't get it too too bad, but we had to keep him out of daycare until the blisters were healed.  It's suuuper contagious, especially in LOs.  I hope it's not HFM!

  • @marebear15 when will you get the results from the ekg monitor? Thinking about you & your family, especially your DD

@justkeepswimming8 i used oriental trading for my wedding so I will definitely have to look into it for parties. We had a small first birthday party too with a “somebunny is one” theme to also match the theme of her room. I ordered decorations from a mom in my local moms group and they were so cute but not financially practical to do for every year. That sucks about the HFM. When my nieces and nephews have something like that I keep DD away from them but not grandparents (unless they would have symptoms too)
  • @NYTino24 glad you got the positive OPK. Late O is a better answer than AF!
  • @justkeepswimming8 My DH got HFM from my son earlier this year. It affects everyone differently. DS had a fever, cold, and diaper rash, while DH was sick and had the actual bumps on his hands, feet, and throat. Ultimately, there's not much you can do, since it's viral. It's just about making everyone comfortable while riding it out.

  • @bows22 - We won't find out the results of the monitor until Monday. Unless it's bad, then they might call us earlier.
  • Thanks everyone for the info on HFM. Sounds like something I never want to deal with! It looks like, as I suspected, that MIL and SIL were overreacting and he doesn't have it - at least he doesn't have any more than a fever and a couple of random bumps on his face. From what everyone was saying, he should have way more bumps and blisters by now.

Also, raise your hand if you are over this cycle already! I'm currently having EWCM and CP is SHOW on what is supposed to be 8 dpo (CD25). Of course I didn't confirm O with temping or use OPKs so it could possibly be O and last week was a fake out. I grabbed some OPKs at CVS yesterday and they are negative so who the eff knows what's going on. We've continued to HIO just in case but I'm over it especially after the 8 days of fertile signs last week. Definitely doing OPKs next cycle and I'm also considering temping.

  • @justkeepswimming8 Last cycle I had four fertile days by CM and CP, but then no OPK or temping confirmation, all those signs went away for 4 days and came back even stronger and finally a +opk on CD19. I hate fake outs and false hopes!
