FWIW even if you do plan to labor in what they give you it’s still really nice to have some nightgowns for afterwards. I packed two of these and they were fantastic. The neckline is so stretchy that I could fit both bots in for skin to skin, the fabric is nice and light, and the black is nice for hiding any stains that might happen.
we just packed our bag! Eek this is really happening! Its so hard to pack when you have such a limited number of things that truly fit at the moment... Hoping I'll have some time while laboring at home to wash my more comfy maternity leggings that I wear all the time and put those in the bag for recovery.
@lyse01 and @kayceebaby1 Im definitely not fully packing right now, though I did sort of get a bag together just today. So far I’ve got a couple short nightgowns, a flannel button down (I liked button downs in the hospital after baby was born to facilitate skin to skin time). And I put some toiletries in. But I definitely am not 100% ready. Im assuming I’ll have a few minutes to stick extra things in my bag right before going to the hospital. Unless you have a precipitous labor I don’t know why you wouldn’t, really. Even last time when I was induced for high BP, I still took an extra few minutes before heading to the hospital just to glance through my bag and make sure I had it all. if there are things you know you’ll want but don’t want to lack now, id just write them down and stick the paper on top of the bag so you’ll remember to grab them on the way out the door.
I don't think I have seen this one mentioned. My friend just had a baby and she said she took a sleeping mask with her. She said it was amazing. It helped her block out all the lights and distractions and she said the light pressure on her eyes was very relaxing. She has been wearing it every night since! So I think I am going to buy one and throw it in my bag!
@kate_e_nb So I want to buy one that is good but I feel like not all the features come in ONE gown that you can get online. What do you think is the most important feature for a labor gown? The nursing snaps, the full front open, the full back open, is a standard waist tie okay? Sorry to ask but I was actually super curious about this!
i labored In a stretchy knee length skirt and a nursing bra. The skirt came off when I got the epidural and I just wore the sheet and the bra. It was comfy and I felt both accessible and covered.
