Re: March 2019 IVF

  • Hey ladies! Ive been reading lots of your guys' posts/comments for a couple months now. I'm doing my IVF cycle this month too! Currently on Cryselle BC, and I'm not a fan :( Tired, nauseous, foggy, bloated and overall dont feel like myself. But I get to stop these in 6 days so I'm getting close! CD1 will be 3/17, go in for U/S and baseline tests on 3/18 and should start meds on the 19th. Planning for a retrieval on 3/30 depending on how my body responds.

Is anyone else doing a FET after retrieval? We are but our nurses originally said it wouldnt be until June, but our IVF class we did yesterday said 6-8 weeks after retrieval. Anyone else seeing their FET happening later than you thought?

@ktrabing welcome!! You are on a similar schedule for the egg retrieval as me and a few of the other ladies :) Hang in there...six days will be over before you know it! I am doing an FET after retrieval. I actually just talked to my nurse this week about it because we were trying to fit a little getaway in because I thought we'd have time - wrong! They aren't putting me on BC...so they said when I get my period after retrieval we will go right into the transfer protocol - so it looks like my retrieval will be end of March/early april with an end of April/early May FET. 6 weeks could be right, if you wait for your period after retrieval then they put you back on BC for 3 weeks-ish, followed by a couple more weeks of the transfer medications. But 8 seems like a lot! Sorry I don't have more insight :(
  • @ellemarie7 thanks!! I am so glad I am feeling better too! My dr was kind of shocked at how bad I was reacting. He said only 10% of his patients get side effects and some of the ones I had were really rare! I'm glad you are feeling better. I bet January was really rough for you!
@alliem89az welcome! And yay we will be cycle buddies!

@ktrabing welcome! Your schedule is also similar to mine. I'm currently on BC and expecting to start AD 3/17 or 3/18 for stims the following day. I'm expecting my retrieval to be 3/28 or 3/29. I will be doing a fresh transfer though so sorry I cannot help with FET timelines.
  • @ktrabing Hi! We're on a similar timeline.  I'm on BCPs now and should start stims around 3/17 (if this dang cyst on my left ovary has gone away by then).

We're doing a frozen transfer with PGS.  My nurse said retrieval will be the last few days of March, period should come 2ish weeks after that, and then we would transfer around end of May.

  • @lovemygs I feel like its so long after the retrieval for the transfer!
  • @ktrabing I know! When I did IVF 8 years ago, fresh transfers were pretty much standard. Now that’s totally changed and my clinic rarely does fresh anymore. So I’m going from a 5 day wait to 2 months! Crazy!

    Hi ladies!
Today, is 4dp trasfer and I’m super bloated!! I’ve been like this for the last two days- my belly is distended. Also, the night before last, I started to wake up in the middle of the night with an intense need to urinate followed by strong cramps for like an hour. Is this caused by progesterone injections?!
Had cramps last night as well, and some spotting this morning!
  • Thanks for the warm welcomes! Glad to have some cycle buddies @ACAC25, @ellemarie7 and @ktrabing (I'm sure I'm missing some others, sorry!)

@ktrabing I get symptoms with BC too, not fun at all, 3 more pills until I get to stop!

@lovemygs I'm planning on doing a fresh transfer, but I'm starting to see that is kind of abnormal, I'm hoping we have some to freeze as well in case it doesn't work.
  • Welcome to all the new ladies!

@sue2019 I don't recall if the PIO injections have these side effects, but I am holding my fingers crossed for you and good beta results! Have you asked your doc if these are normal symptoms?

AFM - retrieval is tomorrow. Went in for bloodwork today and was told my trigger shots didn't raise some of my levels enough, so had to do a booster trigger again (basically another dose of lupron and hcg all over again). To make it worse, I had to drive 30 mins to a specialty pharmacy to get the lupron trigger (they didn't want me re-using what I had left over) and pay $200 out of pocket when I had so much left at home. At least I was able to save some $ by not re-buying HCG. I didn't have this happen before with the other 2 retrievals so naturally now I'm worried about what this means and the quality/quantity of eggs they get tomorrow. So frustrating how things can never go smoothly and there's always something to worry about!

  • @Tulips29 I'm sorry about your levels not being high enough having to buy more meds out of pocket and having to do extra shots! That sucks. I know what you mean there are always curveballs, feels like so much is out of our control. I hope everything goes well for your retrieval tomorrow!! FX for lots off good eggs!

  • @Tulips29 I have not asked my doctor, I think the hope of it being implantation is something I’m not ready to give up yet ☺️  I feel better today, no spotting- less cramps but still there on-off. Good luck on your retrieval tomorrow!!! 😍
  • FX for your retrieval tomorrow @Tulips29 <3 I understand it seems like there is always something else, can't ever be straightforward, it sounds like a frustrating situation. Let us know how it goes tomorrow?
  • So my IVF round is through a clinical trial, and there are several points where I could get kicked out of the trial. One is if AF comes too soon after stopping BC. I took my last BC last night and if my period starts before Thursday I get kicked out of the trial, feeling very anxious about it, even though there is nothing I can do about it. Does anyone remember when has AF come after stopping BC in an IVF cycle?
  • @alliem89az I can understand feeling stressed about that. For myself, AF typically comes pretty regularly for me. The last twice I have taken BCP AF came 3-4 days later.
  • @Tulips29 ughhh..that sucks. But I am thinking of you today and sending you alllll the positive vibes for a great procedure and tons of eggs retrieved! You got this, xxx

@alliem89az oh wow that is stressfull...but I I'm in the same boat as @ACAC25 - typically comes about 3-4 days later so you should be in the clear!! Fingers crossed AF doesn't rear her head until Thursday at the earliest for you! <3
  • Hi Ladies! Today was my last day of BC and I will be starting my injections on Friday. We're hoping I can do a fresh transfer, but because I have a high AMH the team is going to watch closely and we'll see how I feel after the retrieval (scheduled for the week of March 24) and make the determination on if a fresh will be possible.
  • Hi @ashorkey, we are on a similar timeline! yesterday was my last day of BC and we're hoping to do a fresh transfer as well. FX everything goes smoothly for you! What is the concern with a high AMH? OHSS?

Thanks for the feedback @ellenmarie7 and @ACAC25 I'm hopeful it will be 4 days!
  • Thank you for the good thoughts ladies! ER went well and it was so great to just relax and sleep for most of the day after. Now waiting for day 6 to find out how many embryos will be sent off for testing.

Ive really slacked off on my posting! Tonight I do my trigger shot at 8:15 and my ER is set for Thursday morning! I’m feeling SO anxious now that the ER and ET are so close. Has anyone done a fresh transfer? From what I’ve been reading here and the March FET board that frozen transfers are more common? Anyone know why?
  • I did my first IVF in January with a fresh transfer. I am currently on BCP for stims to start early next week. Retrieval should be around 28th with a fresh transfer the following week. I think it depends on the doctor/clinic as well as whether you are doing PGS testing or not.
  • @k_mama91 FET's are more common because a lot of doctors will recommend having your body come off stim medication and letting it heal a bit after the retrieval before proceeding with a transfer. My RE doesn't recommend fresh because your body is full of hormones and suggests an FET instead. I've only done FET before, so have no experience doing a fresh transfer. Plus, if you do PGS testing, it has to be an FET instead of fresh.

FX for your retrieval @k_mama91! I am planning a fresh transfer as well!

Glad to hear your ER went well @Tulips29
  • Thanks for clearing that up! I’m glad you’re ER went well, I’m looking forward to laying around all day after mine as well!
  • alliem89az  that's exciting, tonight must be your first round of injections then? OHSS is the concern, my counselor said because of my age and my high AMH I could be at risk for complications with it. I'm trying to stay positive with it all and not think about that.
  • @ashorkey that makes sense, hopefully you don't have any problems with it!

AF thankfully waited until today so we're still in the clinical trial, yay! I started lupron injections last wednesday actually, I think its a long lupron protocol? I have my baseline labs and ultrasound on saturday and I'm feeling pretty excited about it, I think I'm just excited to finally be getting on with the process after dealing with infertility for over a year.

Hi! Today is day 10 post transfer 😍😍. Two more says until my beta!! Anxious but super excited at the same time. Lots of symptoms, unclear if due to medications or pregnancy. Cramps on and off every day, some brown spotting yesterday as well, tender breasts (not too bad) and increased urination- all symptoms are mild, not too bad. I haven’t tested, and planning to wait until my beta! 😍😍. I keep on taking estrace twice a day and progesterone injections daily (last level was 55). Keeping my fingers crossed and praying  for an exciting St Patrick’s day!! Beta on 3/17 😍😍
    Have a nice day y’all!
  • @alliem89az so glad things are moving along for you!

@sue2019 i hope all the symptoms are a good sign and that st. patrick's day brings you lots of luck for your beta results! keep us posted!

  • @Tulips29 thank you!! I will ☺️
  • I’m one day out from my ER and my poor belly is SO sore! At my last u/s I was put on Cabergoline to reduce my chances of OHSS in addition to the daily baby aspirin I’ve been taking. I’m praying this discomfort is from being prodded and not the beginnings of OHSS. As of this morning we have 19 embabies growing and our fresh transfer is set for 9:15 Tuesday!
  • @sue2019 wow 10 days post transfer! That's so exciting! Sending lots of sticky vibes and hoping for an excellent beta on Sunday!

@Tulips29 how are you feeling after your retrieval? Have you gotten any numbers yet on how many were retr@AllieMag24

@alliem89az that's awesome!! I'm so happy for you that AF cooperated and you were able to stay in the study!!

@k_mama91 I'm sorry that you are feeling so sore after your retrieval. I remember being quite sore too for up to a week after. Just try to relax and take it easy for a few days. And 19 embabies!!! That's fantastic! Congratulations!!

I just finished BCP on Thursday. Expecting/hoping AF comes Sunday so I can have my baseline bloodwork and U/S done and start my new stims plan!! I'm excited to get started again.
  • @ACAC25 thank you!! Best luck to you as well!!
  • @kmama91 19 is amazing! Are you starting to feel better?

@sue2019 FX for your beta tomorrow, hoping you get good news!

@ACAC25 we're doing stims at almost the same time, I started mine today!

I'm curious what protocols are out there if anyone wants to share? I'm on lupron and menopur, no steroids or aspirin because the clinical trial won't allow them. The nurses at the clinic have mentioned several times that the clinical trial has "low doses of medications" so I'm feeling nervous that we'll go through all of this and it won't work, but DH keeps reminding me that we won't know until we try! I'm trying to stay positive and be thankful that I get to be part of the clinical trial, its pretty low risk and I'm getting a very discounted price for an IVF round.

I still haven’t figured out how to tag on here lol but alliem89az I am feeling a tad better. I have horrible pain in my sides when I laugh or breathe deeply. I’m hoping it will continue to improve by my ET on Tuesday. As for my protocol I did 225 of gonal f and 25 of cetrotide along with  baby aspirin, stool softener, and prenatal. I’ve been on Cabergoline since I triggered to prevent OHSS and just started progesterone suppositories 200mg 3x a day yesterday and they are gross!
  • Beta was negative. It did not work, I’m devastated 😔
  • So sorry to hear that @sue2019, take good care of yourself  <3
  • @sue2019 I am so terribly sorry for your news. There are no words. Know I am thinking of you.
  • @sue2019 I'm so sorry :disappointed: Big hugs! It will work!

  • @ACAC25 tomorrow we find out how many will be sent off for PGS testing. I am praying hard we have good numbers. They retrieved 21 and as of Tuesday 17 fertilized and were being watched until day 6 (tomorrow). I'm on pins and needles waiting for results!!

@alliem89az My stim protocol was Gonal-F + menopur for about 6 days and then I added cetrotide to that mix for about 4-5 more days. The dosage of Gonal is the only one that varied daily based on my bloodwork. But then it was 75 IU for Menopur and 1 Cetrotide. Trigger was a mix of Lupron and Pregnyl HCG.

@k_mama91 I hope you feel better by your transfer on Tuesday! And to tag someone, just type @ symbol followed by the username
