I know we ALL have some nutzo co-workers. Go ahead and spill the beans on their crazy stories/excuses/encounters. Anything goes!!

    I've got soooo many.

    1) my ex-boss just rehired her husband who we FIRED 6 months ago for being insubordinate.

    2) We had an IT guy who was struggling with hair loss and would wear hats to work everyday. HR got wind and told him it's against our policy to wear hats to work. He flipped them off, walked out the door and never came back  :D:D

    3) I had an employee who would call into work ALL. THE. TIME. Her excuses ranged from "I have allergies" to "My apartment was broken into and I'm afraid that someone is waiting for me to leave to break in again" to "My vision is foggy today" to "My boyfriend had to leave last minute for a work trip and my life is in disorder". You guys I can't make this up.

    Hahaha @nomangos23 poor baldie!!!

I have a coworker with poorly fitting false teeth, so she’s constantly clacking them together to keep them from falling out. Like in the *SNAP* middle of a sentence.  Also, don’t visit her office during lunchtime, unless you like to watch people eat with no teeth in...

I had a old coworker who sorta disappeared after she got a new boyfriend. I was young and so jealous of all her time off, but it turned out that she burned through so much PTO in their honeymoon phase. Also, the honeymoon didn’t last long because they were no longer an item after like 3 months or so.

I also had an old coworker who was very flashy about her material things (lots of designer stuff) and she would brag about how her husband would tell her that her paycheck was for her to spend on whatever she wanted because he paid all the bills so she bought clothes and other material things...but she also said some red-flag things about her husband that made me think they weren’t going to last (and they didn’t).

I hope they’re both doing well now!

@nomangos23 haha men are very sensitive about going bald. That guy especially! Also, the girl on #3 would kill me. I can't handle that crap.

@RedBreast35 yikes. That drive me insane.

Mine is more of a horrible boss. I worked for local government as a policy advisor. Well my boss totally took advantage and would have me do the most insane non job related things. Examples include: picking kids up from school, taking them to get haircuts, organizing her personal photos in chronological order (she handed me a box of like 1,000 printed photos with dates in the corner), addressing her personal Christmas cards... The list goes on and on. It was so crazy, but I made such good money I just went with it.

*lurking* @nomangos23 you know I wish I could jump in on this  :D

@kgg2241 WHAATTT! That is nuts! I had a horrible boss too. She would literally take attendance at 8:30 in the AM every day and if you weren't here when she took it, she'd leave a note on your desk that you missed attendance and she'd log your name in her log book, and if there was ever an issue she had with you, she'd call you in and list all the dates you were late.

@kgg2241 I'm embarrassed to admit, but if the pay was right, that's literally my dream.

@kiddiesandkitties The pay was great, but she was really hard to work for. I think she might be bipolar. She would randomly flip out for no reason or be extremely picky about strange things. It was honestly one of the most stressful jobs Ive had, just because she was so unpredictable.

@nomangos23 ew. That is horrible. I bet she didnt have very loyal employees.

@lillywonderland I've definitely learned that stealth is wealth. Im sure that was mostly a show. Hopefully he really did have all that money to support her though!

I am living for these stories!

So, I am lucky to work with some really awesome people and a ton of them are 100% remote so we only really see each other at our yearly sales kick off conference in Feb. Well one of the ladies who came to the conference (not one of my employees, thank god) decided not to wear a bra to the meetings. Mind you, this is a very professional setting, our CEO and all other executives are there presenting and she's just nips out like it's NBD. Me and her boss had so many people complain to us about it and when she got confronted, she said she didn't want to wear a bra because the shirt she was wearing would show the bra straps. SO YOUR JUSTIFICATION IS TO JUST NOT WEAR ONE AT ALL? This is a grown woman. She got all butt hurt when her boss brought it up to her and kept trying to get people to side with her and agree with her that her boss was being unreasonable by asking her to put a bra on.

@nomangos23 Her BF at the time was a little bit older and I think he was self-employed. And OMG, $600 for a FAKE?!?! What a waste of $$!!! Your response confirms what I have always known - I ❤️ you!

Also, @b_1029 as soon as I saw this thread I thought of you immediately!! 🤣

I used to work with a lady who ate nothing but raw vegetables doused in rice vinegar and microwaved.  (Ok, super sad part that makes me feel like a jerk for posting this - she's anorexic and has major struggles related to it).  The problem with raw vegetables doused in rice vinegar and microwaved - especially the broccoli and cauliflower - is that the smell is HORRENDOUS.  Before we figured out the source, we thought there was a plumbing malfunction.  It smells like rotting vegetables/sewage/farts.  So even though you felt bad for her condition, the smell would make you be like, ummm, please please please please go eat in the breakroom and not at your desk!!!  It caused big issues with her cube mates.

@mamaber2204 Ok anorexic or not... WHY WOULD ANYONE EAT THAT??
  • Options
@nomangos23 IKR?!?!  The other things she would eat (when we had department lunches at restaurants):  pickles.  She'd order a side of them and just eat them.  Salsa - no chips.  She ate it with a spoon.  A side salad with no dressing or croutons.  It made lunches awkward and we stopped doing as many of them.  But then she'd encourage all of us to eat candy.  It was so weird.

@mamaber2204 that's so sad! But also so gross. I feel horrible for her, but that is definitely not cool to do in an office setting.

    Omg, I love these stories!

@zuuls_mom I am DYING. And I can relate. I work at a tech company and our dress code used to be pretty lax. Chill is one thing, naked is another. A few years ago, our head of recruiting then literally wore the smallest frilly miniskirts that bounced all over the place as she walked. You could see her entire butt crack with every step. And also, skirts that were so low rise (while being so short, no idea how that worked) that you can see her thong straps when she reached over.

It was very uncomfortable since we worked in an open concept type of office and you can see everyone. She would walk this long corridor to our kitchen and she would strut like it's a runway. It was so embarrassing given her position in front of potential employees!

I am pretty conservative (in my style) and I literally couldn't take her seriously because she always looked like Paris Hilton at the club at our 9 am meetings.

@rms924 OMG!  You can't make that stuff up!  Where do people get the idea that it's OK to dress like that at work (or ever for that matter)?!?!?!

    @rms924 YIKES!!! I can't even believe that!

@zuuls_mom @mamaber2204 I literally pinged a colleague and we had a good laugh about her shortly after I posted. I feel bad elaborating here: people gossiped also because she was recently married and had an inappropriate relationship w a guy in the office. She seemed to have a poor sense of boundaries while at work.

FTR, I am all about the sisterhood, especially in corporate America - but don’t sh*t where you eat. People will judge and call your work quality into question!!!
