Upcoming Appointments: NIPT blood test this week and NT ultrasound March 20
How are you feeling?: really nauseaous today. I haven't felt like this the whole time and now it slapped me up side the head.
Rants/Raves: insurance didn't cover our first ultrasound as it wasn't medically necessary .We did it to find out how far along I was since my ovulation is weird. How is that not medically necessary to determine when other tests need to be done? We were 2 weeks off!!! I'm so annoyed I could cry . I have no idea where the money is going to come from.
Questions: anyone run into that issue with insurance??
GTKY: Are you always running late, early, or precisely on time? A bit of both
@RedBreast35 I'm so fascinated by women that want to be team green! I LOVED finding out early with both of my boys. DH is insisting we're team green this time around and I'm beyond disappointed. I just feel that with both births I will be so far into the throes of labor and just relieved that the baby is OUT that in that moment I will not be able to care less if it's a boy or a girl. I hope I'm wrong. And I don't have any experience with an epidural so maybe that would make the difference? But when I'm giving birth my brain feels like it's on a completely different planet so that worried me. Can you tell me how it worked for you?
@aliciac2008 I feel ya with the dishes! I've been SUCH SUCH a slacker around the house this whole trimester. It's great that DH is helping you so much. We have two guys running around ruining everything we clean right behind us so it's extra hard to be motivated. DH has definitely been helping more but not as much as I'd like. But at least he's understanding of why I'm doing pretty much nothing and he's OK with a messy house for now! I figure it's practice for after the baby comes.
@themadcamel I'm so sorry this has been so rough on you! It is good to see you back though. Hopefully, you'll slip right into that second-trimester bliss so soon!!!
@cmdesigner Do not feel guilty about not loving being pregnant! It is so, so, SO hard. Hopefully, the second semester will bring lots of different feelings!
Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/29, 10+4
FTM/STM/STM+: STM+ (#3!)
Baby is the size of a(n): lego man
Upcoming Appointments: 20th
How are you feeling?: Tired. Unmotivated. I never want to cook and only want to eat out every meal - buuuuut that's not in the budget. So I just whine a lot.
Rants/Raves: Why do both pregnancy and birth have to be so hard??
Questions:
GTKY: Are you always running late, early, or precisely on time? I used to always be early or on time. Now I have 2 kids. On time is not a thing.
@outnumbered2-3 I don't know how I missed your post, but I'm so sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself and I hope you get your rainbow(s) very soon
@scrappie1186 have you had problems with your insurance not covering things in the past? I would agree that it should be covered and wonder if your OB office could code it differently? I feel like dating US in the first tri are really common and almost always covered! I hope you get it covered, those things are so expensive
@SA0012 I just really wanted to be team green because I felt like, aside from actually meeting the baby, you already know everything about them when they're born. <- I know that's a little bit of an exaggeration and don't get me wrong, I definitely appreciated all the testing and USs, but I wanted finding out the sex to be that one great surprise at the end. Or something along those lines In our case, it didn't really work out , though, because I had an emergency CS and was under local anesthesia, so my DH found out without me and had to wait for me to wake up to tell me. Which is why he convinced me to find out this time (even though the chances of that happening again are pretty slim...) Also, I freaking love that comic
@outnumbered2-3 I’m so sorry you’re going through this.
Please take care of yourself.
I’m just now getting caught up on this thread. I should have
looked sooner. I didn’t realize you guys had already talked about different
ways to reveal the sex lol. Whoopsies! My bad! I get behind on this thread and
then I see how big it is and it intimidates me. I’ll just post a quick update
this week. Nothing much going on.
Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: Sept 30th, 10w 3d
FTM/STM/STM+: FTM
Baby is the size of a(n): Tootsie pop
Upcoming Appointments: I’m
supposed to have the NT scan and NIPT bw in a couple weeks but they still
haven’t ordered it so I can’t get it scheduled… I’m a little annoyed. They will
be hearing from me later today.
How are you feeling?: Some days I feel
completely fine and then others I feel super sick, tired, nauseous. I’m having
some eczema flares right now. I guess that’s common in pregnancy?
Rants/Raves: I’m so glad we got to
see the little one wiggling around in there last week. I’m almost ready to
start telling more people. I just want to wait for the NT scan and NIPT bw.
Surprisingly most of my coworkers have no idea. I think 1 or 2 might be
catching on now but haven’t said anything. It’s surprising because I’m not
doing any of my job duties (working in the lab) and they haven’t even noticed. The one coworker who took over my job duties knows I'm KU and had been really good at keeping my secret. He was even concerned last week when I didn't show up for work the day after a doctors appointment. He was worried something had happened at the appointment. Nope, just felt like shit. He's so sweet tho.
Questions:
GTKY: Are you always running late, early, or precisely on time? I’m almost always early or
at least on time. When it comes to showing up for work tho, I’m almost always
late. But that’s because I take public transportation and have to get a connection.
Everyone understand tho and I don’t stress about it any more.

@SA0012 I am team green as well, and I was with my daughter. For me it actually is added motivation during labor, I'm SO EXCITED to finally know what it is. I am a huge planner, so it always makes me laugh when people say they couldn't be team green because they need to plan... yes you need to plan, for a baby. The sex isn't going to impact how you care for it, and they need the same basic things (and I am totally not one of those, dress them completely neutral moms, I bought some clothing for boy and some for girl, and just returned what I didn't need.) But the crib, car seat, stroller, high chair, bottles, etc, are all the same regardless of boy or girl! Also, for me, I feel like when people announce the sex and the name of the baby so early on in the pregnancy, its like, oh "Mia Kate is here" or whatever with the birth announcement, instead of it being like, ITS A GIRL and THIS IS HER NAME! It just seems anticlimactic. (I hope this doesn't offend anyone, I respect everyone's decisions to do as they wish, this is just my personal preference!). I like the element of surprise We also don't discuss potential names or anything with family members or friends in advance though, we like to keep things a bit more private.
@MsBeachNJ I haven't been team green, but I don't particularly want to tell anyone our name choice ahead of time - we managed to keep it under wraps with DS but we didn't decide on his name until pretty late (had a hugely difficult time finding a boy name DH really liked) so there wasn't a lot of time where "we don't know" wasn't the truth. We had a girl name picked out last time that I think we'll use and DH has already said he thinks we might as well tell people if they directly ask rather than insist it's a secret until she's born (or fib about not having decided yet - at which point everyone asks to hear the shortlist, lol!), but I'm waffling about it. And I never thought team green would be a disadvantage with buying stuff/planning since with DS I was very aware we'd be using all the big items (and tbh a fair bit of the clothes) for any later babies regardless of their sex. (I'm also not that tied to girl/boy color schemes - DS has mostly bright pink 360 cups because they were on sale when it was time to upgrade him to those )
@lillywonderland I have yet to watch Coco, but I've only heard good things! I don't think I'll be able to convince DH to watch it with me though! Haha
Jwilliams777 brunch with friends sounds amazing! I could eat breakfast any time of the day!
aliciac2008 I am the same way with keeping myself too busy. I typically handle it quite well, but the pregnancy has me on a whole other level. I am starting to pull back and not plan or take on as much. It's definitely helping my mood!
@themadcamel I hit my wall around 6pm. Every night. It gets so bad that I can hardly get myself into bed. And I usually say to DH that I don't know how much longer I can do this. But then morning comes and it's tolerable. I can get through my day fine. Doesn't seem to matter what I do in a day, but I crash in the evening so bad. I am hoping things turn around for both of us soon!
cammie0526 my boobs have probably gone up the same! I am so cheap, that I haven't bought new bras (plus I don't really know what or how to buy bras for pregnancy and postpartum). So I've switched to wearing those tank tops with built in shelf bras under my tops. SO much more comfy!
kgg2241 Oh, my DH (and me) would be so jealous of you going to an NBA game. We live in the prairies in Canada, so no where near NBA games, but we both love the sport. We still want to travel to Toronto to catch one, but that's big bucks, so it hasn't happened yet.
dahliasanddogs have you looked into getting a belly band? It has helped me prolong the life of my pre-pregnancy pants. Works well for this in between stage.
@cmdesigner I am right there with you on thinking I'd really enjoy pregnancy and so far it has been extremely difficult. I feel guilty about it a lot, but I keep hoping it'll turn around in the second trimester (and springtime) and I can get to a place where I really enjoy it. It's hard to get excited right now when there is no real baby bump yet and you can't feel the movements. Just sick and exhausted and depressed with this never ending winter...
MsBeachNJ You hit the nail on the head with my reasoning's for Team Green as well. Plus I am old school in that way, and just want the surprise at birth. My planning will be the same whether we have a boy or girl, and I am a HUGE planner! I'm just planning for a sweet, little baby.
Baby is the size of a(n): It's as tall as a kit kat today!
Upcoming Appointments: I have an ultrasound next week to triple check on baby and where it's implanted. They were worried about it being embedded into the wall of my uterus, but when they took the measurement a week ago they were satisfied with what they were seeing.
How are you feeling?: Ugh. It's been rough this week. My evenings are brutal and make me question everything. And during the day I am functioning and feel okay. As long as I can sleep. The days I don't get much sleep are absolutely horrendous. Come on 2nd tri!!
Rants/Raves: Rave: Had my 12 week appt with my doc. Heard the heartbeat for the first time. Was so cool! I also had my name put on the list to get a midwife. We don't have very many here. About 50% of the people who want one will actually get one. So this is a rave and a rant! Haha
GTKY: Are you always running late, early, or precisely on time? I am typically early. We live in a small town about 20 minutes out of the closest city, so we are always careful about our timing to get places (as everything we do is in the city).
EDD- 9/23, 11w4d twins FTM UA- end of March, I think. I should double check that. How are you feeling- I'm not exactly sleeping at night, so I practically drop by mid afternoon. Upside, the nausea has decreased! R/R - Got my NIPT back and called the lab with questions. Bless customer service, she couldn't answer my questions so she scheduled a lab tech to call me. XD GTKY- DH is always early, I'm usually late. By our powers combined, we are on time!

I still have some anxiety about this pregnancy being viable (past loss history). As long as everything goes well at my next appointment, I think I'll be able to finally breathe easily and celebrate. That said, I swear I have been feeling the tiniest of flutters here and there. I never felt movement until ~24-26 weeks with my first two (anterior placenta), and this is just bonkers to me. I know it's not gas or other random tummy bubbles, but who knows if it's actually the baby moving or just things shifting and growing in there, haha.
Rants/Raves: This terrible cold, and not being able to take all the good drugs. :-/
Questions: none
GTKY: Are you always running late, early, or precisely on time? Generally early, but kids have slowed down my roll a bit and now I'm much closer to right on time.
