  • @hollyeva she is so beautiful, and i can’t say it enough, she has the best hair!! thanks for sharing.

@wildrainbow i am so completely stoked for you! that is such great news. glad he’s feeling better and you are getting some much needed rest!

dd1 has been miserably sick since thursday. 103 fever going on almost 72 hours now. can’t nap, barely eats, and is either pitiful or grumpy. and now emilia has got a runny nose. i’d like to fast forward to next weekend, please.
  • @highsteaks I'm sorry the kiddos are sick. I hope dd1 starts feeling better soon. I bet it's been miserable. Hugs, so I kids are the worst.
  • @hollyeva Penny's hair is just lovely! Look at her!  <3
@wildrainbow hooray for such a long stretch of sleep! That's wonderful.
@highsteaks I'm so sorry your oldest is sick. I hope the babies don't catch it too.

My oldest woke up with a stomach bug. Poor thing is miserable. Shes napping now (for the 2nd time today and it's only 2pm) and I hope she wakes up feeling better and able to keep some food down. And I really hope no one else catches it! I need to disinfect everything as soon as I'm done pumping.

@offtoneverland oh gosh, no! i’m sorry your oldest is sick, too. and also hoping no one else catches it.

so ready for warm weather to come back and stay.
  • @hollyeva she’s adorable! That hair too. So cute.

@wildrainbow yay for sleep! I’m insanely jealous. James is up every 2-3 hours to nurse all night long. I keep reminding myself that DS1 was the world’s worst sleeper as a baby and now he’s an amazing sleeper (we lucked out wirh DD who has always been an amazing sleeper)

@highsteaks I’m sorry :( I hope she feels better soon

@offtoneverland praying she feels better soon and no one else gets it!
  • @booksandcoffee wow size 3 already? Size ones are still on the big side for us, haha. I'm sorry James is up all the time, ds1 was like that. It took 18 months for ds1 to sleep without being on me. I totally feel you. I hope he starts lengthening his time in between. Hugs, hun.
  • @wildrainbow  came in to check on you. just saw the news about the tornadoes in lee county. are you pretty far?
  • @highsteaks Lee county is the next county over. The tornadoes were on the state line. We just lost power as the storm moved through. I haven't seem final reports yet, but I've heard it's pretty significant damage and some deaths.
  • @wildrainbow i still can’t believe that AL gets tornadoes year round. the report i just saw said the death toll was 23. it is so sad.
  • @wildrainbow So glad you're safe! The reports of the storm are so scary and heartbreaking.

DD1's stomach bug only lasted 12 hours. She was miserable for most of the day yesterday, but suddenly just felt better and ate a huge dinner. I'm staying home with her today to make sure she's vomit-free for 24 hours before she goes back to day care. I'd hate to pass on a stomach bug to other kids. Sydney had a huuuuge spit up this morning and I was scared she might have caught it, but it only happened the one time so she went to day care.

The four month sleep regression is rough. Sydney has been waking up and eating a lot, which is good since she needs extra calories. But oh boy, are we tired! Hoping DD1 lets me take a nap today. :)

  • @offtoneverland thank goodness the stomach bug didn’t linger. i hope you were able to take a nap today!

does anyone have a high chair that they’d recommend? the tray on our old one is a huge pita to wash, so i’m looking for something hopefully better this time.
  • @highsteaks I've always been partial to the booster seat style instead of a separate high chair. Not sure if that would work for you, but this is what we have.

@offtoneverland booster seat is good. how big is the tray to that, and do you remember what the tray is like on the bottom? pic of our old tray in spoiler:
why would they design the bottom of it like this??!? it’s heavy and such a huge pain to hand wash in the sink with all those grooves. wanting to avoid something like this.

eta—and it says “dishwasher safe” but the beast does not FIT in the dishwasher.
@wildrainbow that is awesome!! how’s his sleeping going now?
dd1 still had a fever sunday but it was gone monday (hallelujah!!). it was a battle trying to get her dressed and out the door to school this morning after being home sick for almost a week. the twins definitely caught it, ugh. goobery noses and hacking coughs like 60yo smokers this morning.
  • @highsteaks Ugh, I'm sorry the twins got it, fx they don't run a fever and require Dr visits. M is sleeping ok. When he goes to sleep, he does well, but falling asleep is an issue. He's been more fussy, at night especially, and it makes it all stressful. I dunno if it's reflux, or just regression or what. We go Thursday for his and ds1's well kid check up and I will be talking to the dr about his reflux and if there are any other ways to help it.
  • +1 on @offtoneverland recommendation for booster chair. They usually come with a break away cover on the tray that can fit in a dishwasher.

@wildrainbow awesome about the laughing, bummer about the trouble getting to sleep. P has been having similar issues lately. Usually it's she's Over tired, over stimulated, or gassy.

@booksandcoffee my oh my oh my, size 3?!?!
  • I do not think M's new dose of medication is working. He has been extra fussy, and I'm having to give it earlier and earlier. He has been on this new dose for a week. Luckily, we have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and hopefully we cannot come up with a solution. Because, he is in a lot of pain and is only comfortable if he is on his belly and I'm standing up.
  • @wildrainbow :/ that’s so frustrating. i had hoped that the increased meds would work. i hope that the doctor can offer some better options.
  • @highsteaks I really hope so too, I really don't want to turn into a blubbering mess, but I will. I'm really tired of having a screaming baby in my ear every day.
  • @wildrainbow how was the appointment today? Did you get a new dose of meds for M? I hope that he can get some relief.
@highsteaks The tray of that booster I recommended doesn't have all that junk on the bottom like yours does. It's just plastic that clips onto the side of the booster. I've never put it in the dishwasher, but you can. It's pretty small, but a perfect size for a toddler plate, bowl, and cup.

  • I just had the most stressful Dr visit ever. Both kids had their well check up. Ds1 has to follow back up in 6 months to see if his gross motor skills have improved. The word autism was thrownat me, even tho he is no where near on the spectrum.

M is 11lbs11oz and 24 inches long. He is still under the growth chart. I told the Dr about his reflux and when he examined him, he pressed on his stomach. M screamed bloody murder. I had to dig my nails in my hands to keep from snatching him up and running out of there. I've never heard him scream like that. The Dr said that M has to see the GI. So we will get an appointment set up at Children's Hospital that is labeled failure to thrive. The Dr said that even tho technically M is failure to thrive, he is not because he is gaining at a consistent rate. He is just losing too many calories. We will be looking for an obstruction, etc to see what is causing his  reflux to be so bad. If it takes longer than a month to get in with the GI, then we will do a barium swallow and trial run of protontix.
While I am happy that all of this is being taken seriously, it is a lot to wrap my head around. I hate that he has to endure more Drs, tests, possible needles, etc. I hate that life has already been so hard on him. It kills my mommy heart.
  • @wildrainbow Oh my goodness, how stressful. First, I'm sorry they threw the word autism at you. That must have been very unexpected. I hope there is some improvement at his next check up. Second, I hate that M is in so much pain and was labeled failure to thrive. How unfair since you have been working so hard and you're such an amazing mom. That's good at least that the doctor was understanding that he is still gaining weight, just not at the right rate. I 100 percent understand feeling so horrible that your baby has endured so much at such a young age. It's heartbreaking having to see them in pain and dealing with so much more than they should have to. I feel that way about Sydney almost every day.

  • @offtoneverland Thank you. I hate it sounds like I'm complaining. I'm not. Mostly, I'm just tired. I'm tired of having to fight for both my kids. One I have to advocate that even tho he has sensory issues and motor delays he isn't autistic and the other I just want to have a chance to be completely normal. It gets heavy, holding this weight.
  • @wildrainbow sorry to hear of all the issues, I hope they figure out what's happening with M to get him the proper treatment, and that time and therapy helps Ds1.

AFM baby snuggles are absolutely the best therapy, no matter how hard it seems to get.
  • @wildrainbow ((hugs)) that was a lot for you to take in during a single visit. can i just say that unless he’s got some specialized training, i really wouldn’t seriously trust a regular pedi to recognize mild autism in a newly turned three year old. also, i am so sorry that M will have to go through more invasive procedures. you are indeed amazing to be a rock for your kids. give M an extra cuddle on my behalf, please.
  • so we’re without hot water. water heater crapped out on us last week, and then it poured out a bunch of water and partially flooded the downstairs while dh was trying to replace the broken part on saturday. fun times. waiting to hear back from the plumber to schedule a replacement. the water coming out of the faucet is near ice cold. oh how i long for a hot shower.
  • @highsteaks I'm so sorry Y'all are without hot water. I hope it gets fixed soon, I know it's miserable without it.

AFM: M is doing a lot better after his vaccine reaction. It was a very rough weekend, but we are on the other side. Ds1 hasn't been napping,  which hasnt been ideal because I need that time to recover some sanity. H is actually home on time this week, so I'm hoping I can get a chance to break away from the kids and just be for a little bit.  On the upside, my step sister came over and cut my hair and put purple highlights in. I'm pretty stoked about it, lol.
  • @highsteaks it's awful to go without hot water, I hope you get a resolution (and a nice hot shower) soon!

@wildrainbow so glad M pushed through the vaccine reaction. Your hair sounds pretty! I've been admiring all the colors I have seen recently but am still shy to dye my own. I used to live trainer Manic Panic in high school.

AFM I am single momming Tuesday-Thursday this week and busy trying to stay sane.

@wildrainbow new hair sounds like so much fun! what are you going to do this weekend with your freedom?

@hollyeva oh man. i hope the girls are going easy on you!

we have hot water again! i still haven’t gotten a chance to shower yet, but i’m hoping the planets align and everyone sleeps at naptime in an hour so i can.
bonus pic of fuzzy baby hair; enjoy:

  • @offtoneverland  how wonderful to have a date night! where did you go?
  • @highsteaks We went to Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville. It's a Clyde's restaurant... Have you heard of that chain? There's a few in Virginia I think. It was delicious! We split a bottle of wine and had appetizers, entrees, and dessert!

  • @offtoneverland i haven’t, but i will certainly check them out!

@wildrainbow hair goals, definitely. hope you are getting some you time this weekend.

gave the twins their first solids meal last night, and they both gobbled it right up! dd1 was stoked about the whole thing and insisted on feeding them herself (well, the first few spoonfuls). it was crazy but still fun!
  • @highsteaks Fun! What did you feed them? We gave Sydney a few sips of breastmilk from a small cup and she loved it.
@wildrainbow Gorgeous! Your stepsister is really talented!

  • @wildrainbow I love it!!!

@highsteaks When DD started solids, DS1 loved feeding her. We plan to start solids within James in another month or so and I’m praying he eats like DS1 (amazing eater of everything and anything) and not like DD (pickiest eater who lives on air.)

James is 18 and a half lbs so we transitioned him out of the rock n play (he was busting out of it lol) at bedtime to the pack n play. Still not ready for him to be in his room because he’s up 2-3 times a night to nurse and it’s much easier to have him right next to me. And also I’m a worrier and prefer him in our room.

I can’t believe how fast time is flying with him. He’s the sweetest baby.
  • @offtoneverland yayyyyy date night! And I’m so glad you were able to get a note about the diarrhea. I feel like I haven’t worked a full week since returning to work with one of the three kids getting sick or someone having an appt for something so I can only imagine how stressful that was when it’s not something contagious keeping her out of daycare.
