Birth Stories GTKY

Birth. Birthing-day. B-day, if you will. It is in all of our futures!

This is a safe place to share your past birthing stories, if you'd like to share with the group. It can be helpful and enlightening to read other's experiences with birth, no matter how many times you done this whole pregnancy thing.

As a courtesy to all of the mamas of varying backgrounds here, PLEASE be considerate and put a *Trigger Warning* on your story if warranted. We are all coming to this thread from different places in life and past experience, and this allows mamas who may have had difficult birth histories of their own or anxiety to not read stories that would be difficult for them.

That being said, please come and share. We love birth stories of all kinds - unmedicated, medicated, c-sections, home births... come one, come all!

Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!

  • Many apologies for the horrible spelling and grammar. On mobile and it won’t let me edit.

  • @Allycat11 Hold up- your MIL was in the room when you were pushing?!

    @sourlemon You’re a trooper. Many hopes for a smooth delivery for you this pregmamcy!

  • @jrm_14 yes! She was in there the whole effing time - weird, right?  When she arrived the hospital sent her to my room without asking and back then I did not have the balls to kick her out. She spent the next 11 hours taking smoke breaks, snacking in my room and making comments about SILs deliveries. When DS was born I knew she would not be in the room at all during labor or delivery but did not have the heart to tell her in advance. When I was 38 weeks she went to visit SIL out of state for 10 days. She then called us crying after his birth that he was here early and how could she have missed it. We told her for weeks that there was no way I would make it to my EDD so 39 weeks was not surprising. She also used that phone call to complain about why we did not use a family name. Clearly we have issues lol.

  • @EmilyA724 exactly, most people want some space! We had a rough 3 days in the hospital after DDs birth and I just wanted people to leave me alone. My recovery was not going well from the birth, DD had jaundice and low blood sugar, a wenchy nurse kept snapping at me that my attempts to BF were causing DDs problems...she also fed her a bottle behind my back. DS showing up quickly in the middle of the night was the biggest blessing ever.

     :o Im so angry for you!

    @WinchesterGirl Hugs 💛
    People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

  • *possible TW - loss in family*

    @skp480 *hugs* I lost my mom to cancer at 15 weeks with DS2. It was devastating. She was my best friend, my rock and super close to DS1. I didn’t grieve until after he was born. I was in denial and angry and scared I would “hurt the baby”. I do not recommend postponing the grieving process.

    DS2 and this baby have very close due dates and the 7th anniversary of her death was two weeks ago. I’m doing better these days and and can talk about it without bawling, but I have my moments. Especially when I think how much the kids are missing out without knowing her.
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I totally understand. My mom passed when I was 11w - 3 months after I got married. I'm an only child so my mom was my everything. I grieved a ton during that pregnancy but my life was chaotic and I realized in retrospect almost 2 years later that I hadn't dealt with it enough because when life calmed down, depression hit me *hard*. It's hard when happy moments with your child are so bittersweet because you know howmuch your mom would have loved being a part of them. This pregnancy has been tough for me due to lots of morning sickness, but especially in the first 11 weeks when I kept thinking of what was going on at that point when I was pregnant the first time. ❤
