I mean, I’m a regulator and do inspections, so I regularly have to give small audience sitted presentations on what they’re doing wrong 🤣

  • Beekeeping (even though I failed the first and only year I tried). I have a coworker who is also a Beek and he asks me questions and then asks others and will come back and say "you were right, that's what xxx said too and it worked".

Also probably inventory management. That was as a big part of my previous job and I kicked ass at it.
  • The NJ Children's System of Care 🤓
  • Free speech rights of students on the school grounds (thanks to a law school project) and also international trip planning/organizing (thanks to my travel bug and control-freak ways)
  • I don't know that I could give a 40 minute presentation on any one thing but I could give a 40 minute presentation on so many random things it would likely blow your mind. I'm a wealth of useless knowledge.
  • Once upon a time I would’ve said Harry Potter but I haven’t read the books or watched the movies in so long and...mom brain. I’ve been asked to go to HP trivia nights but I’m pretty sure I’d just embarrass myself
  • Ooh I thought of something...The Office

  • Oral health for young patients
  • Also, probably tips for getting a strong-willed kid to eat things they don’t want to try 😂
  • @elle-0409 I’m guessing you speak French then? My husband is French and I’m somewhat proficient but grammar is the hardest part! 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • Also, probably tips for getting a strong-willed kid to eat things they don’t want to try 😂
Got tips for my oral sensory dependent ASD 4 year old? Kid will eat what they give him at school (peer pressure seems to be good at that) but won’t eat anything but snack bars and nuggets at home 🤦🏼‍♀️

Girl, I feel you so much!  I was mostly kidding, as my tips are primarily lying/hiding food within other foods and bribing.  MOTY here!  😂😭
  • I could speak to dog shows and dog breeding :)

@cmbt2 @quidditchcapn1120 My DD will eat meatballs so anything that looks like that gets categorized as a meatball: piece of hamburger, small cut piece of steak, piece of sausage. I've lied to her so many times  :D
  • @bacheerios How cool! Yes, I got my degree in French and studied for a little while in Paris. I'm also a French tutor on the side, so I mostly go over grammar with students. When I'm thrust into a room with native speakers I'm like, "So, who wants to conjugate some verbs?" LOL! I need to work on my colloquialisms. Will you be raising your children to be bilingual?

  • @PleaseSendPicklesNow I just knit my first two items in life... Baby hats that I now realize are too large for a newborn for sure haha. Are you going to work on anything for the baby?
  • @elle-0409 @bacheerios how fun, I never studied French but my parents first language is a dialect of it so I understand it (though French speakers claim not to understand me) and my husband's first language is French. I'm hoping to get our kids immersed in it and trilingual for sure
  • @elle-0409 We live in bilingual province so are raising my son bilingual and will do the same with this baby. It’s about 75/25 french to english with daycare and my husband speaking to him in french and I speak to him
in english. My son understands there are two words for the same thing but is strongly leaning to french right now.
  • @elle-0409 That’s so cool! I majored in French for about two years and then couldn’t make it fit with my other major. But yes, we intend on speaking it at home (I need to practice some before baby gets here haha). If we have the opportunity, we’d like to send him/her to a school that communicates in French too.
@marbellie @geminigirl16 what a crazy coincidence! So many French speakers in the group! We should start a French thread 🤣 Where do y’all live that French is a prominent language? My husband moved here after his parents separated but the majority of his family is still in France.

@rachelgreene-2 They were on a break!
  • 40 minutes + on raising backyard chickens....
  • Grant writing! I'm an arts administrator focused on fundraising, and I absolutely love grant writing. :)

  • @PleaseSendPicklesNow those are beautiful!  And I love the color!  I should really pick up knitting, my mother and sister both do it.  I just prefer cross stitching. Working on armadillo dish towels at the moments.
  • @PleaseSendPicklesNow that's beautiful! And you're right, I'm going to unravel this second one since I haven't stitched it shut yet.
  • @rachelgreene-2 he really was the worst 😂 My husband can't stand him and never understood why people always rooted for Ross and Rachel to end up together. I totally agree and yet sob every damn time I hear "I got off the plane" lol
  • I'm with @cmbt2. I cried during 90% of my presentations in speech class and was only able to get through the last one without tears and getting that feeling in my throat... I have intense stage fright.

For the sake of conversation I'd probably say ring slings or babywearing in general. I'm no expert  but it's something I love talking about (the different carries, fabrics and brands)!
  • @emily1052 I would love to hear about backyard chickens! We are looking to get a few when we buy a home. It’s seems really intimidating though.

@bacheerios @nnaelilak he is the literal  wooorrrssstttt.

@nnaelilak I had a class that forced it out of me, but i still hate it so much. I now just talk a billion words a minute. Before that class, I would just stand up there and blank because I was terrified

  • @rachelgreene-2 I’ll gladly talk your ear off!  From coops to breeds and then from hatching in an incubator to mean roosters!  😂🤣
  • oooh @prpl11butterfly and @emily1052 I may have to pick your guys' brains. I've always wanted to do both of those things. We tried beekeeping one year but were trying to coax a hive from a undesired location and it never quite worked out. Eventually we plan to get a queen and brood to start, maybe next year. Same with the chickens, I've been dying to get a few for years now!

  • @cmbt2 my speech class helped immensely, but I didn't stay in practice and that was so long ago now I'm back to being terrified on stage haha
  • @emily1052 I will totally take you up on that! I don’t know if we will go as far as hatchlings but who knows, maybe I’ll find my calling as a crazy backyard chicken lady. I just want fresh eggs and I think chickens are so cute! Is that weird?!? I can’t wait to give them punny names but I also want to make sure I’m taking care of them correctly and keep them safe and happy and give them a quality of life - like any other pet.
  • I think I quite literally do this weekly at my work, lol. I'm a history teacher.

(I do try to limit my lectures to 15 minutes. But sometimes itslike dragging teenagers through the mud to get it to stick.)

Monday I'm teaching latitude and longitude. I have not prepared a speech or anything. I'm sure it will take 45 minutes.

If I actually have to answer this question... I can give you all a history lesson on Chernobyl and what we learned and a separate hour’s presentation on how and why low doses of radiation aren’t harmful. I can also go into depth on what it is like to go from being a licensee to being the regulator

  • @PleaseSendPicklesNow I need this Kate Middleton speech in my life now!
@bacheerios @geminigirl16 @marbellie I love the idea of having a French language themed thread! Or maybe even a bilingual/multilingual thread? We could share tips on raising bilingual children, book/tv program recommendations, songs, etc. What do you think? Marbellie, you mentioned your kids being trilingual. What three languages? That's amazing! My husband speaks zero French, so I'm hoping to find a school or program for the little one when they're old enough.
