I didn't see a thread started for this, so figured I'll go ahead with it. Anyone else starting a fresh IVF/retrieval cycle in March? Let's be cycle buddies! A bit of my history below and a trigger warning in a spoiler.
*History & TW* - This will be my 3rd IVF cycle and 3rd retrieval. My first IVF cycle and FET back in 2016 resulted in my now 2 year old son and we're now trying for baby #2. I just finished IVF #2 with another retrieval in January and now have 1 viable embryo to proceed. However, we're thinking to do another retrieval to have more embryos to choose from first before we transfer.

**TW** DH and I have been ttc since 2015. In 2017 I found out at 9 weeks that I had a blighted ovum and the embryo stopped developing at around 5 or 6weeks. Last year we had testing and found out are dealing with MFI and IVF was our next step. **
I just finished my first IVF cycle that failed. I received my negative beta today. We paid for 3 full cycles, and because we have no frozen embryos, I will be starting stims again as soon as AF arrives (which will likely be in the next day or two). Hoping this is a successful cycle for everyone!!
Little history: Started stimming in Jan with plans for a fresh transfer ended up with severe OHSS so transfer was cancelled and I’m left with 4 frosties. My body overreacted really bad to the stims so I’ve been enjoying this break.
Started my FET cycle on Tuesday with 6mg of Estrace after being on BCP for 3 weeks. Transfer scheduled for March 11th now. Good luck 🍀 to us all!!!!!!!!
@acac25 so sorry about your beta
@sherrod8590 good luck with starting to stim this weekend...hope it goes well and will be thinking of you!
@makana11 I hope AF arrives for you soon!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you ladies starting stims soon!!

In hindsight, now I've calmed down,I do think taking a 1 cycle break to reset and make changes is good. I have a blood test tomorrow so my doctor can change my supplements and DH is on a new supplement too. Man this exercise plan is going to be hard though. I'm not a inactive person but I have to keep my heart rate between 145-190 for at least 25 minutes 5 times a week! Today was day 1 and I felt like I was dying!! 🤣
Also I'm not sure if anyone can speak to this but DH and I tried to DTD and I'm still sore inside from the stims and whole cycle in Jan/Feb. 😞 It sucks that it takes our bodies so long to recover.
@pegs007 welcome! i am not familiar with mini ivf or what it entails. would love to know though! there seem to be so many different protocols! wishing you luck with your cycle!
@ACAC25 it does take time to recover and i'm glad you're taking a much needed break. i hope your exercise plan gets easier with time as well.
@sue2019 good luck with your transfer next week! it only takes 1 so lots of sticky vibes!

Mini IVF involves less aggressive protocol in terms of medication, focuses more on quality than quantity. Frankly speaking I had no clue about this term and heard it for the first time, when my RE recommended. The world of science is so vast & overwhelming!! Phew.Good luck for your upcoming retrieval!
@ACAC25 - Sorry to hear about your loss, hope your body heals up real fast during the break.
@sherrod8590 - Good luck for your upcoming retrieval.
@ashcash03 & @sue2019 - Baby dust for a sticky sticky transfer!!
I don't know if we are doing fresh/frozen transfer. RE says he will decide in due course of time. Any advise on fresh vs frozen ?
I have been reading this book - Its starts w the egg and its amazing!! Highly recommend it
Glad to know your testing is all done and wishing you a great start!! xx
Doctor got my blood test results today. Everything is looking normal, he just wants to change my insulin levels. So I'm now on BCP, 850mg metformin twice daily and 10mg folic acid as well as an exercise routine. Hoping and praying this all helps for a successful mid March cycle.
@ACAC25 sorry about the delay but glad you are feeling better about it. I'm also on metformin! Careful with the carbs, if I eat too many (I'm on low carb low sugar anyway) it makes me pretty sick/tummy ache.
@pegs007 hi! I've heard frozen transfers have a slightly higher success rate - but I think it's probably different for everyone. I think the theories behind that are that your body isn't coming right off of an egg retrieval so it's more receptive, and frozen embies are a bit stronger/heartier than fresh. It's best for your doctor to help you make that decision though!
@sam23lc oh nooo haha! They get easier - try using ice to numb the spot, then a heating pad after while you massage it to disperse the oil. I couldn't imagine doing them standing up! I always lay down dramatically and have my DH husband do them for me haha
Ladies...anyone heard of/taking Ovasitol? My new RE recommended it for me...I actually really like it, I'm already seeing some changes and my skin is amazing. However I've been on it for a week now and just randomly started spotting. I never spot, it's the only new med/supplement I started taking so I wonder if there's a correlation? It's not crazy spotting just very very faint brown CM almost. Weird. Anyone have any thoughts??? This is the product: https://theralogix.com/products/ovasitol-inositol-powder
AFM: today is day 2 of stims for me. Weirdly, menopur doesn't burn like it did last time, but I feel like now that I've said it, I'll jinx myself

The metformin is putting me through the ringer. I've had an upset stomach, low appetite and felt really nauseous since I started taking it yesterday. At one point both days in the afternoon (but I take it in the morning) it was so bad I felt like I was on the verge of puking for an hour. My doctor said it was only a 10% chance I'd have any side effects. How wonderful it is to me special. 😞

Hey ladies. I'm going to jump in here since we have confirmed that I'll be starting IVF #3 this month. I'm on the estrogen priming patch protocol, and patches start this weekend. Injections start on my day 2, and retrieval will be later in March. Depending on how many eggs we get (not expected to get more than 2 or 3), we may do a fresh and frozen transfer at the same time! We only have one frozen embryo, and I'm 41, so our time is running out.
Good luck to everyone who has started the shots. They do get easier
@Tulips29 fingers crossed the menopur burn stays away.
@ACAC25 (and @tulips29) I also had TERRIBLE side effects from the metformin. Like - really bad. Same as you are describing. I also started slow - took one for a week, then two for a week, then got up to three. Not to discourage you, but it lasted about a month of me feeling pretty sick. However, I just told myself clearly I needed it and that the side effects would eventually wane. They absolutely did, and now I take my 3xday dosage and feel great! So hang in there..it will subside!
@pegs007 I did do some Mayan abdominal massage on my second transfer (that ended in a BFN but I'm certain it's because I wasn't on any steroids for that cycle) - I really enjoyed it and I felt good after them. It was just super expensive (like $250!!!). She did show me some self massage I can do at home which I still keep up. But it definitely can't hurt!
AFM - that weird spotting went away after a day or two...so guess it was just something random!
IVF 1 April 2011 - Cancelled
IVF 1.5 July 2011 - MC
IVF 2 October 2011 - BFP!
*Identical Twin Boys born June 2012*
Here we go again...IVF 3 is underway!
I'm hoping the same! It's hard to relax doing this kind of process. Had a big discussion with my doctor about it at my appointment last week. With the plan we paid for we get 1 psychologist appointment free per cycle to help with stress. I have mind tomorrow, I'm supposed to get calming techniques so I will share them here too in case they are helpful!
