  • Sounds wonderful @kingdommom! Enjoy!

  • @foodislove Yes Yes 100% yes I also feel guilty about spending money on this trip. I feel guilty even buying myself new socks. Maybe it's a parent/adult thing but if I'm not spending money on bills or my son or other adult responsibilities I feel bad and that's precisely why me and my husband are doing this trip. We rarely take time for ourselves and eachother. I'm just trying to cut back in other areas in preparation. We are combining our 10 year and babymoon into this trip as well! The closer it gets to your trip the less guilt and more excitement you will start to feel.
  • For anyone wanting something tropical, we had a fabulous time in Mexico. No mosquitoes to be seen and we stayed at an awesome resort where we felt completely and totally safe. We brought the kids which made me a little nervous, just because we hadn’t travelled so far with them before, and it was no issue at all. We ended up in the ER for my son’s chest cold turned bronchitis, and the facilities were not notch and very clean/modern. We are definitely going back!

  • @ameliabedelia-2 where in Mexico and what resort?
  • I am wondering when people are planning these trips...  We were hoping to go somewhere in Europe in the Spring to get warmer weather, but that puts me at like 26-27 weeks.  Although the doctor said it's ok to fly then, I have no context for whether I'll be really uncomfortable by then or not.  Any advice is appreciated!

We were in Playa del Carmen, about 40 mins from Cancun. It was so family friendly. They have a connected adult only resort called La Perla that mirrors the family side.  It’s an all inclusive. We booked through Costco which included flights and airport transportation.

  • @hintones I'm taking my babymoon at 23 weeks and my boss (who has frequently traveled while pregnant) said that time should be perfectly fine in terms of comfort. I booked aisle seats for all legs of my flight and I'll probably be getting up frequently to pee anyway. I'm sure the flight attendants will understand if you need to get up and pace the aisles.

I'd personally recommend finding and breaking in some good walking shoes before you go--you'll definitely need good foot support while traveling and pregnant, but you don't want to wear sneakers. When I traveled to Europe, my professors told our group to not wear sneakers on the street because "that is strictly an American thing" and you will stand out in a tacky way. I wore sneakers anyway and got stared at minutes after we landed  :*
  • @hestia14 Thanks for the tips.  We just decided to also look into closer options for this vacation, because I'm starting to worry about the travel time.  I would normally not care about long flights, jet lag, lots of walking, dining options, etc., but there's such a big unknown here, since it's my first pregnancy.  I just don't know what to expect 6-8 weeks from now.
  • Cancelled our SC babymoon plans :(. But DH has two work conference trips to warm/fun places and I'm going to tag along so all we have to pay for is my airfare & food (& spa, let's be honest). Both in March (on back to back weekends, randomly), so I'll be 22/23 weeks pregnant.

Plus they're in big cities, unlike the islands/beaches we were looking at for SC, so heaven forbid I need to go to the hospital, I'll be all set. Doubly so since I'll be surrounded by doctors at both conferences. :p

  • @hinotes we are headed to Maui Hawaii next week for a belated honeymoon and now babymoon.
  • We're going to Europe in two weeks and we'll be going to Paris, Zurich, road tripping through Germany and then Amsterdam. We're also going to see Paul McCartney in June in Kentucky so a weekend getaway for us since we live in Ohio.
  • I'm a teacher so the only time I have for this babymoon is during our spring break, which is 5 days. We are thinking about staying somewhere close or maybe just doing a few day trips around where we live.
  • AW post

On my way to Phoenix, AZ for a "mommymoon" to hang with my sister! Got my swimsuit packed and left my winter gloves in the car! Peace out snow, I'm gonna go thaw out for a few days!
