    • How far along? EDD? 34 weeks
    • How is everyone feeling this week? Overall, not too bad, just slow and feeling like my belly has no more room!
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB on Friday, then weekly appts start with GB test next week.
    • GTKY: Anyone do anything fun over Valentines / President's Day weekend? MH was out of town for Vday, so we went to dinner for a late valentines / early bday dinner Saturday.
    • Don't forget about HDBD or PIP your nursery!
Anyone heard of the superstitions around full moons and babies being born? My BMB just mentioned it and apparently there are 2 big one's coming up on Feb 19th and March 21st.

The full moon thing is a really phenomenon in general for hospitals -- they get busier for whatever reason around that time! And I wouldn't be surprised if it affects pregnancy hormones/etc since menstrual cycles were traditionally seen as centering around the moon and its phases.

34 weeks I remember feeling like I couldn't eat anything because my stomach had no more room! A really strange feeling!

  • @mbradfo2 Yes!! I feel like there's no room, but constantly hungry lately. Such a mess! lol The full moon thing is crazy too. My BMB is all over it since there's going to be a drop in barometric pressure, etc. So I've been googling a lot but prob means nothing for me anyways!

  • Hi everyone, happy Monday!! @Drove2u thinking of you and hoping all goes well!! You're SO CLOSE!!
    • How far along? EDD? 34 weeks, 3 days - EDD March 29. My mom just put something up on her Facebook that was like, "40 days until grandbaby gets here" and I almost had a panic attack. I can't believe it's so close.
    • How is everyone feeling this week? Feeling good overall, I'm amazed at how quickly I go from being like, "I ate breakfast 3 hours ago and I'm still stuffed" to suddenly "I NEED TO EAT NOW." Like there's no transition period, it's all or nothing haha
    • Any upcoming appointments? Thursday - NST, ultrasound for a fluid check, and some bloodwork.
    • GTKY: Anyone do anything fun over Valentines / President's Day weekend? My Valentine's Day was spent at work and then at the OB's office - I had a 5:30 NST scheduled and 6:00 OB visit so the plan was that my husband & I would make a nice dinner when I got home, but I didn't get in for my NST until after 6 and then they left me hooked up for an HOUR (pretty sure they forgot about me) and I didn't see my OB until 7:20. So ummm we had Chipotle for dinner. We're not huge Valentines people anyway, and it was still nice to have dinner together when I got home, so it was all good - just frustrating with the lateness of the OB!
    • Don't forget about HDBD or PIP your nursery! I was going to take a bump picture in the work bathroom just now because I feel cute in my dress today, but there was a student in there and I felt awkward. Maybe later!

  • @uterusdreams We are a day apart in due dates, so I just caught my breath reading that your mom said 40 days!! At the same time...idk how I can get any bigger. I swear in the last 2 weeks, I've double in size. lol I can't believe they left you there for an hour!! FX Thursday is a much better day for you with your NST!

I don't even remember what we had on v-day haha But my husband did get me an Anne Boleyn mug to replace the one he accidentally destroyed of Henry VIII's 6 wives. Very fitting valentine's day gift >.> And no, I did not name my little girl Anne after Anne Boleyn! Everyone asks me that when they realize I'm a little British history crazy. She is actually named Anne after Anne Neville, Richard the 3rd's queen who I loved the portrayal of in the historical fiction book The Kingmaker's Daughter. And Anne of Green Gables, of course!

    • How far along? EDD? 34 weeks, 1 day (April 1)
    • How is everyone feeling this week? Feeling good, just very heavy. My belly is sticking out so much, I'm worried about needing new clothes to make it through to the end! Some of the tunic-length shirts I've been wearing are regular shirt length now  ;)
    • Any upcoming appointments? OB on Thursday
    • GTKY: V-Day we basically skipped since we both had a stomach bug. So, it was a romantic date lying on the couch eating crackers. Family Day (President's day in Canada) was spend doing nursery painting! Yay! It's not done yet, as we will need to do more coats of paint than we were expecting. But it's looking good and I'm happy to be making progress on baby's room.

  • Hi ladies!!

@kristimh80 I agree with @mbradfo2 about hospitals being busier in general around full moons.  Also, *TW* when I went in with my ectopic, they were saying they’d had a lot more of them than normal lately, and said something about a full moon around the time I’d have conceived or something. *End TW* so who knows.  I didn’t appreciate hearing that at the time, lol.

And I can relate to the going from stuffed to starving - I felt like that happened all pregnancy to me!  I’d be starving, eat until I was full which I felt like ended up being too much because then I’d be SO UNCOMFORTABLE, and then I’d be straight to starving as soon as I felt ok.  Not fun!

@scikap I swear maternity shirts are made shorter than they were when I was pregnant with my 3yo - these were constantly riding up and showing my belly!

  • @kristimh80 I feel the same way, I don't see how this bump can grow any more!! And at last week's appointment it was measuring at 36 weeks so of course now I'm like, oh no, what if she comes early!? There's too much I have to wrap up at work first, ack. (I realize that she may not come early and could still be late, but you know, just one extra thing to obsess over!)

    • How far along? EDD? 28 weeks today! May 15
    • How is everyone feeling this week?  Feeling okay- diagnosed with GD and diet regulation is not working out so well for a couple of the finger pricks- hoping I can get it under control and not have to start insulin.
    • Any upcoming appointments?  I have to see OB every week now because of my sugar.  Next appt is on Wed.  May get a referral to an endocrinologist to help manage GD- waiting to hear.
    • GTKY: Anyone do anything fun over Valentines / President's Day weekend?  Nothing- very uneventful.
    • Don't forget about HDBD or PIP your nursery! Haven’t done anything with the nursery yet really.
  • @bpietronicco Welcome to 3rd trimester!! So sorry you are dealing with GD :( Hopefully everything will work itself out and you can get on a good routine with it all. One of the girls in my BMB had it, but was able to actually come off her weekly appts, etc since it got under control. So there is a chance you won't have to deal with it for too long.

Sorry I've been MIA kinda. I've been way more active on FB. Just easier there than here. But wanted to check in. I also stopped commuting and going into the office which has been amazing but challenging as well because it's so hard to work with a toddler around. I don't have help since I'm home. She goes to school twice a week so that's a huge help and i cant get a lot done then. can't believe I'm next on the list. yikes!! Will try to respond to everyone soon. but if not don't hate me!!!
  • @Drove2u lol Glad I'm not the only one 1/2 out of it feeling like a cow! I swear I've doubled in size in the past 2 weeks. I'm waiting for my appt at tomorrow them to ask...what the heck have you been eating?? LOL

  • Anyone else had the talk about being induced? My doctor said she didn't want me going past my due date, so will probably induce around 39 weeks if baby isn't here before. Said mainly due to IVF, etc that they won't like to risk going beyond. But can always be cancelled. Though, idk how much longer this baby can cook, I feel her slowly moving down and I've turned into a whale lol

  • @kristimh80
My doctor wouldn't talk about it yet when I brought it up around 34 weeks but I ended up going that next week anyway. I definitely read alot about not wanting to go past due date with IVF pregnancies -- mostly because the dates are extremely certain and there's no benefit to going past 40 weeks in any pregnancy. There are some studies that bring up concerns with faster than usual aging of the placenta in IVF pregnancies, hence another reason to not go past 40 weeks in one if you believe the studies' findings. And your doctor is being a little more aggressive than she might be with a non-IVF pregnancy, but that's because she understands what you went through to get to this point and doesn't want to take any unnecessary risks - going past 40 weeks is an unnecessary risk, imo. Both my OB and MFM said that they made some decisions when I was dx'd with pre-E that were a little more aggressive than normal but that's because they didn't want to take a single risk.

I would have done it if offered, personally, but that's just me liking to have some certainty in this uncertain process!

  • @mbradfo2 Seeing this today, I realize I think I already asked the same ? a couple of weeks ago! lol But, I guess it got real since we are setting a date now. I'm seeing a new doctor next week, so will get more clarity. I just wish we had a say so on dates vs their schedule. I'm going bonkers thinking "how can I do another month of this?" But you are right about it all. I'm glad they are more cautious on it all. They did leave the door open if I wanted to cancel it and go naturally. Hoping after next week, since I'll be done working, things will overall seem / feel a little better!

  • @kristimh80 my doctor would not induce just because of IVF.  He said doctors used to but that it’s not necessary.  It’s crazy that every doctor can do what they want!

  • @mayflower513 I know, right?! My doctor went thru IVF, so maybe why she's more sensitive to it all. But was adament about me not going past my due date. I meet with my new doctor this week, so will see her take on it. They did say I can always cancel it, but was good to get on the calendar. Idk still how I feel about it. I'm sure because I usually see / hear worst cases.

@mbradfo2 the 40 week mark is an average of gestation. It is far from a hard and fast number. Even if you know your specific dates some babies need/choose to cook longer. There is a reason the birth window for a term baby is 38-42 weeks. Also the majority (>95% of babies are born by 41 weeks). Each woman should have a talk with their provider about their individual risks but just because you reach 40+0 does not mean the baby needs to come out that second.  I have not done IVF but dates with IUI are fairly exact also and it was never an issue.

  • My daughter was an IUI baby. My doctor was happy to let me go until 42 weeks as long as everything looked good with fluid and fetal movement. She didn't suggest induction until my 40 weeks appointment and left it as my choice.
  • I'm thinking IUI vs IVF maybe a little different since IUI is a little more natural in a sense. They didn't have to remove your eggs, do ICSI, bake in the incubator, etc. So perhaps have a little to do with it, but I could be totally wrong! :)

Some doctors recommended induction at 40 weeks in IVF pregnancies because of some (older) studies that showed that the placenta appeared to age faster in IVF pregnancies than other pregnancies. So there were concerns of placental insufficiency happening faster after 40 weeks in tandem with knowing that the 40 week mark was very accurate. It's not clear whether or not this is actually true and even if it is, it's likely not an issue in most pregnancies. There are some studies that show that vascular structures have more issues in IVF pregnancies but they are not sure why.

  • @mbradfo2 I wasn't discounting the studies about IVF and your placenta which is why I said each person should talk about risks with their doc but 40wks is not a magical number for every baby. If your uncomfortable or unsure about an early induction you should have a good discussion with your doc so that everyone is on the same page and good with the plan.
