I didn’t see this thread started... so here we go!

  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I love that dress.
I am still pre-bump, since this is #3 I keep expecting to pop any day, but it hasn't happened yet. I popped late and carried small with both my others, so maybe that's just what my body does...
  • @mrosek91 Thank you!! I tend to show early and carry large. I gained 60 lbs with DS1 and 69 lbs with DS2. I know at this point it’s not all baby, but since the extra bloating is baby related I’m taking it in stride. This is our third and final so I’m finding some comfort in knowing this is the last time I’ll be a human balloon.  I’m definitely not one that can wait until 12 weeks to tell people (this pic was 14w3d)! 😂😂
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I gained 30 pounds with my first, never lost it and gained another 25 with my second, I have no idea where it all went, certaintly not my belly. This is me at 7 months pregnant with #2. A woman's body is a strange thing.

  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I tend to gain a lot with pregnancy too. With the twins I gained 65, with my singleton I gained 60.... we will see how it goes but I'm showing about as much as you are.

  • I gained about 60 pounds with my first two pregnancies. With number 3, I saw stretch marks before the BFP and up 20 pounds from my pre-pregnacy weight at almost 15 weeks.
  • @Allycat11 wow!! What a douchebag NP! Holy crap!!! As if!!! 😠😠
  • @Allycat11 ugh! 2 lbs could be a variety of factors unrelated to what you actually ate. How rude!!
  • @sw1122 when I was a week overdue with my first a stranger asked me when I was due, I said "last week", and she said "oh, I thought you were in your 7th month or something." Everyone carries differently, if your doctor's not worried, you don't need to worry.
  • @sw1122 You look great! That is probably more average for 15 weeks. I am definitely not “average”. Especially if it’s your first.
  • I hate the pressure about weight and have the same complaints, @Allycat11 ! They acted like they didn’t believe me when I said at my 1st appointment I was so sick I lost 5lbs in less than a week. Like, why would I lie?

My last pregnancy, I loved my OB. Even though I was technically up almost 50lbs at delivery, she never gave me grief because it was SO much swelling - I swelled really badly from week 16. Fingers crossed this one is different. So many stretch marks!!!!

Will try to get a bump pic today. Poor 2nd kid already being neglected in photos.

  • @Allycat11 +1 to still having stretch marks all over. that NP needs a TP, what the hell. your body can fluctuate 2lbs in the course of a day.
@sw1122 I forget are you a FTM? FTM often don't pop till later and some women especially if you have a longer torso don't show much or not till much later. Other women with short torsos or who have been pregnant a few times tend to show way sooner. ever body is different and beautiful. Tell your DH the only appropriate comment about how much your showing is to say how beautiful you look.

  • @wabash15 @thirdtimesacharm2019 @mrosek91 @dogmomma096 - Thanks for reassuring me. I have a doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks and I'm sure she'll tell me I'm fine. I am a FTM and everything makes me anxious and I know I shouldn't be worried about my size. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it'll be when the weather starts to get warmer.
  • @sw1122 I see that little bump! You look like you are slim and in shape, if you have strong ab muscles they will kind of hold the bump in for a while.

I agree with y'all on the weight gain... I started this pregnancy at a heavier weight than I would have liked, and I'm only 12w and have gained 3-4 pounds already. I am nervous about my dr shaming my weight gain.
  • @zamora_spin its totally normal to gain 3-5 lbs in the first tri and then ~1lb a week in the 2nd and 3rd... though there are some who gain more and others who gain less.

  • I'm on the opposite spectrum for weight gain—I actually LOST about 10 lbs in my first trimester because I was so sick. I'm finally starting to gain it back a little bit. I started my pregnancy out pretty heavy, though (207 lbs) so TBH I wasn't super upset about losing the weight... I'm also on a no exercise restriction due to my previa, so I'm kind of glad for the weight loss. I tend to gain a LOT my last month, so this gave me a little bit of an advantage in the weight gain department.

  • Finally got a pic. 14w 4d. I was Looking at DS weekly pics and it made me feel huge. Just gotta remember every pregnancy is different, I guess. And that it’s a blessing to be able to eat without being too sick and have this food baby sitting on top of the human baby 😂

  • @purplg8r Was the diet part of your RE’s general IVF plan or was there another reason? (Just curious bc I never heard carb limiting as part of fertility treatment! And this is totally inappropriate to say just from a photo, but you don’t look like someone doctors would worry about general weight impacting fertility!) And are you worried about weight gain in general or specifically because by some metrics you’ve put on 10 lbs in the first tri?

For my first pregnancy, IVF and meds made my body go a little haywire and I gained 8-10 lbs my first tri without having lost any at first, but then I leveled off for a while in my second trimester. So 10 lbs doesn’t seem too outlandish to me!
  • @purplg8r you look great! ❤️ The dress!
  • @purpleg8r I honestly Wouldn’t be too concerned about gaining those 10 back. Those low carb diets are typically short term results and if you don’t stick to it, the weight can be  very quick to come back. I would assume your medical team would see it that way. I wouldn’t worry too much unless your doctor specifically mentions it.

During my first, my OB told me to stop asking about my weight, that she’d let me know if it was getting to be an issue to watch.

  • They're way more hands off with pregnancy stuff in Sweden,  but I never even *had* to get weighed.  They always presented it as a choice and only like,  3 times the whole pregnancy. Not sure if that would have changed if I was on either end of the weight spectrum,  but it was so laid back,  "do you want to see how much you weigh now?"

They also don't do the GD test here unless you've had GD before or if your blood sugar is concerning (which they test several times with a finger prick). The only things they do are anatomy scan,  glucose and hemoglobin levels, blood pressure,  and then starting at 24 weeks the fundal height and heartbeat checks. Some people opt for extra scans or testing in 1st tri,  and of course if there's any risk factor you get more monitoring,  but most pregnancies are really hands off.

Registration with midwife around 8-12 weeks,  blood work around 10-12 weeks,  anatomy scan at 18-20 weeks, monthly appointments from 24 weeks until the last month when you get every other week,  then every week if you're over due. Is partly frustrating bc I want to check in on baby,  but partially great bc there's so much less pressure and guilt, anxiety, whatever around these things than it seems in other places.

  • @cato99 she had me on low carb before my ER for 2 reasons 1) because high protein/low carb is better for egg quality and 2) because I was at risk for OHSS due to previous estrogen levels and thankfully it worked.  Then she had me on low carb/high protein again for my FET for a certain reason but I honestly don’t remember why.  I am definitely one who has always been one to watch my weight (but got lucky because my running offset my love of food).  I’ve had to literally force myself to restrict getting on the scale to only once a week because I know it’s not healthy. But mostly I’m worried because everything I read said you should only gain 3-4 pounds in the first half.  Good to know yours balanced out.  I hope mine does too!

@thirdtimesacharm2019 thanks!  I’m hoping it’s stretchy enough to wear for every bump pic!

    @aevan011 thanks!!  That’s what I was hoping
  • @cato99 my RE had me on a low carb/sugar fertility diet for the entirety of treatments...
@purplg8r I wouldn't sweat the 10lbs... just try to eat in moderation/healthyish and bodies do what they do during pregnancy....
