I had my standard checkin with my OB today at 15 weeks since I’ll be out of town at 16 weeks. Good HB of 145 and she found it exactly where I thought I had been feeling the baby move around! I only half jokingly suggested she bring the US machine in to see if we could get a quick potty shot, yea that didn’t work.
They also scheduled every every single appointment for me from here on out ending on my due date - I forgot how much these dominate your schedule at the end!
@olivemomma I was trying to decide if I should get this started, doesn't look like it's assigned to anyone on the Board Organization thread, so I wasn't sure it was an officially sanctioned thread I had my 12 week check-up today. The doctor decided to do another US because my first US and my LMP gave EDDs that were 5 days apart. Even though this one was closer to my LMP they decided to keep it at the later date. I'm not complaining because it means I have more time before they start trying to push me to induce. Baby is actually starting to look like a baby, and it was so nice to see him/her(?) moving around, and hear the heartbeat. Mini rant: I love my OB practice because they are always really punctual, and when they're not they explain why and give you regular updates. I saw a new doctor today (one who started after I gave birth to DS#2) and she was half an hour late!! with only one head poke from the nurse saying she'll be in soon 15 minutes after they put me in the room. Other than that, it was a great appointment, and on the plus side they got an onsite phlebotomist. They are in a medical center so it used to be when you were done with the appointment you had to go to the next floor and check in at Quest and go through the whole waiting process again. This will make life much easier.
@mrosek91 Yes! I love that about our OB office. It's always nice to go to basically the next room over and get your blood drawn (especially when doing the 1 hr GTT).
@olivemomma My OB office does the same thing with scheduling. I added them all to my calendar and it definitely gets busy by the end.

Team Green!
I had my 12 week check up with my OB on Monday. Everything went well. Baby's heart rate was good. My blood pressure was high which is unusual. So they did blood work.
Then I had my first MFM appointment on Thursday. He was really nice, talked a lot though. Offered and amnio which we declined. Had a sonogram. Did MORE blood work. I will start weekly ultrasounds to check on baby's heart at 15 weeks, with growth scans every 4 weeks. And then BPPs at 28 weeks.
I'm up to 19 vials of blood drawn for this pregnancy.
My only appointment this month is for an ultrasound to check my cervical length at 16 weeks. I will also be starting my weekly makenna injections then as well. I can’t wait to hear what my cervical length is at that point, it tends to be a good indicator for me about whether or not I’ll end up on bedrest early or later.
Had a fantastic 12 week check-up with my OB today. I went in fully expecting to hear that a VBAC wouldn’t be a viable option with twins, and instead found out that she’s totally A-OK with it! The big condition is that baby A will need to be head down, so keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out!
Also got a little sneak-peek at the babes on the ultrasound again (I’m feeling very spoiled, we’ve seen them 3x so far, and will see them more again tomorrow at our 12 week NT scan). They already seem to have distinct personalities - every time we see them baby A is bouncing off the walls; baby B moves around a decent amount too but seems mellow in comparison! They were also snuggled up together for a second, and my heart melted.
12 week appointment today went well. I only get a dating and an anatomy ultrasound, but got to hear the heartbeat today -- strong in the 170's! It was 188 at 9 weeks. Hoping it's true that this means girl!
I got my schedule of appointments for the rest of my pregnancy over the weekend. I have a total of 42 appointments scheduled. A lot of them are like 3 appointments scheduled on one day. But man, I feel like I'm going to be living at the OBs office.
@winchestergirl. Definitely glad to have them all scheduled out. The only reason they did them this far in advance is because of the ultrasounds. The ultrasound schedule can get pretty full pretty fast. And honestly so can my OBs schedule. So I'm really really glad those ones are scheduled that way I can see only my OB and not another provider or his nurse practitioner.
@Beauxbaton - ditto, I got scheduled out through the end of the pregnancy yesterday...and it’s so overwhelming! I haven’t counted the number of appointments total, but for the last month or so I’ll be in the office twice a week. It’s nutty.
@aecm the only reason I know how many appointments there are is because it said so at the bottom of the paper they sent me. I had to go through and highlight the ones that were kultiples in one day. And then draw lines between them and write the time out to the right of the appoinntments in red so that I can actually put them in my phone calendar without getting confused.
So ultrasound went well. Baby is cooking right on schedule. The tech couldn't really find the SCH but sent off something that MIGHT be it.. so I hope that means its GONE - will find out in a few days.
She made a noncommittal guess as to the sex though!! BOY! she showed me two angles and I mean of course she could be wrong but it seemed legit. Oh man this girl mama is in for it if she's right.

I go to a practice of midwives. There are seven, so like I did when I was pregnant with Pickle, I'm meeting with each one and then once I've met them all, will schedule all appointments with my favorite through the end of my pregnancy. There are many that are new to the practice since I've returned, and I did not love the first two. I've also felt like the nurses aren't as nice as I remember.
Cut to yesterday and I had a super friendly nurse. I met this midwife with Pickle but didn't really remember her, but she was AMAZING. I felt so comfortable with her and I'm already hoping she's there to deliver this babe! I really needed this breath of fresh air. And BONUS, I got to hear Coco for the first time! Last appointment they couldn't find her HB with the Doppler, so I ended up with an ultrasound instead. But this time she found her right away. I just love that sound! So strong!
I had my first appointment with the midwife yesterday. She was so nice, and spent so much time with me! The midwife I had with my son had 15 minute appointments and always felt rushed, so it was nice to actually have time to ask my questions without feeling bad for taking up time. I won't have another one until next month.
Had my 12 week appointment this afternoon. Exam, swab for cultures, and attempt to hear the heartbeat. My doctor wasn't able to find it with the Doppler, since she said it's still a little early, so she pulled over her prehistoric ultrasound machine to get a visual. Little one was having quite the dance party! So cool to see legs and a torso; starting to look like a little human! Going in for first trimester genetic screening ultrasound and blood work next week.
Dr called last night with my second blood test results. Results were inconclusive so they want me to have more blood drawn today. She said I either have a SUPER RARE genetic disorder causing low iron or its due to my chronic illness and inability to absorb nutrition. Kind of scary but she said the baby shouldn't inherit it if it is genetic because its so rare and the likelihood that my husband has it is very small. ugh!!!!!
@agpandme sorry they have to take even more blood. if you have to take iron supplements than eating/drinking citrus at the same time will increase your absorption, but beware it can be super constipating....

Thank you @wabash15. She hasn't suggested iron supplements which is interesting to me but I am on extra folic acid. I'll ask today if I should be on iron supplements.
@agpandme, I also had to do 2nd blood tests today for my iron. It is forever low so I’m curious as to what it’ll be this time. Last time it was on the borderline, 6. My sister and I have both had low iron forever. They didn’t suggest iron supplements to me as yet either.
Had a check up with the NP yesterday. Got to hear baby girl’s heartbeat, which is always reassuring. SO looking forward to the anatomy scan in three weeks!
