Re: The Great Question Thread

  • @elle-0409 is there a reason you are thinking about an amino already? Or just doing research in case?

  • @jessie072817 I wish I knew what the numbers should look like, but fingers crossed that all is ok! Great that your MW will get you right in. A lot can cause bleeding so try to stay calm in the meantime. *hugs*

  • @ceclarlinetlo @jenferlee82 @queenwog thank you for the suggestions!

@cmbt2 I love the insight!!  And the unsolicited advice 😜. Thank you!

@jessie072817 how scary!  I hope everything is ok.  You should hope for a number between 18 and 7340.  It’s a huge range. 😕 sorry I’m not much help. Fingers crossed for the best!
  • Ok everyone today marks exactly 5 weeks since my LMP and I found out I was pregnant 10 days ago..my husband and I have been over the moon! But just a couple hours ago I went to the bathroom and noticed blood in the toilet... not a lot but fair to moderate amount... I’m freaking out and so scared of miscarriage... my midwife is sending me in to have my hcg levels tested tomorrow and then I’ll go back to retest on Thursday. What sort of numbers should I be hoping for tomorfos ? I have no clue I just know the numbers are supposed to Double every 2 days .
I am so sorry you had a bleeding scare! I had bleeding with DS early on, and I know other people who have had bleeding but went on to have full term babies, so all is not necessarily lost! I am glad your midwife is getting you in quickly and I hope the bleeding is nothing of consequence!

@longhairdntcare No specific reason why I'm asking about the amnio. I'm a FTM, so I'm just doing some research and wanted people's opinions.

Hi all!  Looking for recommendations on pregnancy books (other than What to Expect).  What book are helpful?  Which ones did you enjoy?  Which ones do you recommend for a FTM?
I liked the Bradley Method book; I didn't actually follow the Bradley Method for husband coached childbirth or anything, but  I found it REALLY informative about birth in general. I felt so in control even through an induction because I just knew what was happening in my body.

  • @jd614 I know I'm very late to this discussion, but I also joined Orange Theory right before I got pregnant with DS1. I called the location where I'd joined and explained that I was pregnant, and they let me out of the contract. I think they have a "medical reasons" exemption of some kind in the agreement. That's not to say you should quit, just thought you might find it useful to know you can.
  • Does anyone have any remedies for heartburn/reflux relief that has worked for you? I started taking Zantac 75. I thought I’d had it before but after dinner last night I was so miserable, then woke up about an hour after falling asleep sweating and almost vomited bc it was so bad. With my first pregnancy I got it in the third trimester and watermelon helped a lot but I don’t think watermelon would taste too good this time of year

You can up to 150. I ended up on Prevacid with my second when I had it in 3rd tri (I needed zofran for morning sickness at the beginning, though)

  • I feel like going through pregnancy again would mean I would feel less anxious or more knowledgeable... but darn it, that ain't happening.

Been getting a lot of little stabby aches and pains in the afternoon since maybe yesterday or possibly the day before. I have a desk job so I feel like laying down helps ease that discomfort but since I work in an office setting, that's not entirely possible (though I laid down yesterday on a blanket under my desk because I was tired too). Is this to be expected with maybe it being a 2nd time pregnancy (maybe things are stretching quicker than they did before since my body has already been through this and remembers)?? Of course I start to fear the worst but trying not to get ahead of myself.

Yes, unfortunately, it’s par for the course. You’ll cramp more than you ever remember from the first go around 😪 doesn’t make it any easier to deal with, though

  • @stephanie123456 I can relate with this being my 2nd pregnancy as well, the anxiety is here full force. I experience little pains here and there too. I'm pretty sure crampy feelings are normal and I know I've heard you show earlier after your first. Maybe growing pains?
  • (maybe things are stretching quicker than they did before
That’s exactly what it is! Remember that round ligament pain you had in the middle and the end of your first pregnancy... it all happens earlier the second time! Muscles are already loose and your body is like “I’ve done this before!” From what I learned when I miscarried last fall, if cramps are accompanied by bleeding is concerning, but otherwise moderate cramps are pretty normal. I hear you though. The anxiety before the reassurance of an ultrasound is realllll. I’ve done this three times and still have it.
  • @stephanie123456 I think we all feel that way. It’s frustrating but normally nothing to worry about. As long as the cramps aren’t bad, like AF, and there’s no spotting/ bleeding you should be ok. It’s like your body is going “oh. We’re doing this again? Ok hold my beer, I got this!”
