This thread is for those of us who went through infertility testing and treatments before becoming pregnant. Many of us have had different struggles to get to this place and face different anxiety and concerns now. This thread is for us to support each other, and we hope it will be a safe space. Though this thread starts on Fridays/Saturdays, please feel free to post here at any time during the week, whether for good news or bad. Consider this an ongoing conversation. 

This thread is for those who have experienced infertility. The struggles we discuss may or may not apply to those who became pregnant easily. If you have not experienced infertility, please be considerate and sensitive if you feel the need to post in this thread.

GTKY: What are some of the pieces of "advice" (about pregnancy, parenting) you've been given that just makes you cringe?

Me-35, DH-36 - TTC since 08/10
Me - anovulatory, non-Insulin PCOS, DH - low end of "normal" sperm count
   IUI#1   - 02/15 - Cancelled due to scrubbed sperm count <1MM
   IVF#1  - 08/15 - 13x5-day blastocysts (ranging from AA-BB, most are 5 or 6), not PGS, on ice
   FET#1 - 10/15 - 1 emb - BFP (DD 07/16) (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
   FET#2 - 07/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
   FET#3 - 08/17 - 1 emb - BFN (estrace + PIO sesame oil + prometrium)
   FET#4 - 10/17 - 2 emb - BFN (changed to estrace + prometrium because of allergic reaction to PIO sesame oil)
ERA Testing - 12/17 - window moved (-1 day)
   FET#5 - 03/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
Karyotype Testing - 04/18 - Negative (we're ok)
   FET#6 - 06/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
   FET#7 - 10/18 - 2 emb - BFN (estrace + prometrium, ERA-timing used)
   FET#8 - 11/18 - 2 emb - BFP; looks like one baby is going to make it, DD is due 8/16 (though likely to be 8/9)

    @mamak225 I have not pulled out the pregnancy pillow yet but I do regularly use a pillow between my knees... that cake sounds amazing and now I really want a slice but know that if I tired to find a slice of amazing cake I would feel like crap after eating it. This is a cruel side effect of this pregnancy....

    @wabash15 - Awwww, I'm sorry :( Is it after everything - or just sweets? I didn't have a sweet tooth with DD, actually preferred sour things like pineapple, so the "sour" flavor of the raspberries was nearly perfect.

    @mamak225 no just sweets. I get a head ache, feel nauseous and crampy for hours. its really weird. This kid digs lemon... anything lemon is golden

    @purplg8r - Yay!!!! for that sweet announcement pic, one day shouldn't be an issue ;) Some of my good friends are there now with their 2 y.o. and newborn (she's a magical, mythical creature - I couldn't deal with that much stress). And "relax" is the most infuriating - right behind "in God's time" :| - piece of "advice" anyone can give ... I'm right there with you!! #ruuuuuuuuuude

    @MamaK225 I haven’t pulled my pregnancy pillow out yet but I can’t wait to feel justified in doing so!! If I were you if you have even the slightest twinge of discomfort it’s GIANT PILLOW TIME

    How far along are you? 13w 3d

    Any symptoms? You guys literally EVERY time I declare I’m done with nausea (like I did today in my Group check-in) I wind up nauseated! That’s IT do NOT ever let me claim that again it’s tempting fate too much. 

    Rant/Rave? Just shaking my fist at The Return of Queasiness 

    Next appointment? Regular OB check up (actually with a NP) on Wednesday. I still really need the constant reassurance that this pregnancy is still ok so I’m looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. 

    Questions? Do any of you have a Doppler to check the heartbeat on your own? It feels so excessive to me but there are times I could really use the reassurance! I’m 99% sure I’m not going to get one but I’m curious if anyone else has experience with them. Let me live through you.

    This is so minor but this group will understand: when I was very pregnant with DD a cashier when I was grocery shopping was like “When the time comes to get her out you should do what got you here in the first place” meaning *wink* have some sexy time *wink* to go into labor *wink wink* and outwardly I nodded and smiled, but inwardly I was like “ah yes, drive to a sterile medical center an hour away to have a catheter inserted into my uterus to deposit an embryo, while my husband looks on helplessly, great and very romantic idea, very labor-inducing, thanks”

    @cato99 I have a Doppler and love it.  It took a little bit at first to find her but I watched a bunch of YouTube videos.  Now I can find her in about a minute.  I asked my OB what she thought about them.  She said she was 50/50 because sometimes women think they hear the baby and just hear themselves and don’t let her know if there’s trouble.  But I had videoed me doing it and she said, oh yeah that’s definitely baby.  It sounds like a galloping horse.  If you decide to get it, I can give you some tips
