Re: Wednesday Ticker Change Feb. 6th

  • First off, I just want to say that TB app and desktop version suck! I've been wanting to desperately love-tit all of your responses last week but due to some mysterious "Permissions Error," I can't :(

Also, it's Feb. 6th, which means it's the first of our Wednesday tickers' due dates! I can't believe we're here already!

    1) How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 38 weeks, winter melon
    2) How are you feeling? Big, uncomfortable, crampy, achy, and generally like I'd like to go ahead and have this baby now. Also lots of fun bowel changes that made me believe labor was imminent, but nope.
    3) Any appointments this week? Had one yesterday which was a big waste of time: they took my BP, measured by belly and offered to check my cervix (no thanks!).
    4) R/R/Q? Braxton-Hicks, prodromal labor, or whatever this is has me on the edge of my seat thinking the real thing is about to happen, but nah.
    5) Planning to do newborn photos, send out announcements or have any special newborn keepsake/tradition stuff planned? I'm planning to do L&D photos, newborn photos, and send birth announcements like I did with my other two LOs. I'm also considering doing a sip'n'see party when LO is 6-or-so-weeks old, but I'll see how I feel.

  • 1) How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 39 weeks tomorrow
    2) How are you feeling? uncomfortable
    3) Any appointments this week? getting induced on Friday
    4) R/R/Q? trying to beat the induction, by trying to get myself into labor. Been working on sending myself into labor since yesterday.
    5) Planning to do newborn photos, send out announcements or have any special newborn keepsake/tradition stuff planned?  Newborn photos are too expensive here.  No special newborn stuff, just hoping for no NICU stay and a quick discharge.

  • @disneybaby84 what kinds of things are you doing to try to get yourself into labor? If you don’t mind me asking :)
  • 1) How many weeks are you? How big is baby?
    38 weeks a spaghetti squash!

    2) How are you feeling?
    Anxious 😂

    3) Any appointments this week?
Today was a difficult appt because my blood pressure was high. I had a Non Stress Test and they found protein in my urine. I am doing the 24hr urine test then back again for a NST.  :/  Trying not to stress out  <3

    4) R/R/Q?
    Haha just did (see above).

    5) Planning to do newborn photos, send out announcements or have any special newborn keepsake/tradition stuff planned?
Since I do photography I probably will be taking tons of photos of her to send out 😍
  • @kenishi I have been eating 6 dates a daysince 36 weeks, doing exercises on the birthing ball and having lots of sex with DH.
  • @disneybaby84 oh nice!! I've started to eat the dates too, I hear that they really help!! I'm also trying to sit on the birthing ball as much as possible!
  • @disneybaby84 Sending good vibes for tomorrow  <3
  • 1. 38 weeks, he’s as big as a winter melon.

    2. Feeling tired, sore everywhere, and a little bit anxious.

    3. I had an appointment yesterday and was super excited to see how dilated I was but I did not know that it was going to hurt even a little bit. I almost had an out of body experience from the pain it was so intense lol. I don’t know if it was just because I wasn’t prepared for it or I was tending up way too much but I could barely take it and it only lasted about a minute. The midwife said that was a similar feeling to what labor may feel like and I am shocked. Now I now why women ask for epidurals right away. I am so much more nervous now that I won’t be able to do a water birth like I’ve been wanting and that I’m going to end up getting an epidural and then regretting it afterwards. Well anyway, I was only 1 cm dilated haha, and the midwife said she could feel the baby’s head. She also said my cervix was pretty high up and I’m guessing that’s bad. My boyfriend was at the appointment too and he said that I was like convulsing in the table. He’s also worried about me now. It sucks because I always thought I had a high pain tolerance but now I know otherwise.

    4. All I’ve been craving recently is fruit juice and I’ve been drinking so much of it 😬

    5. We will definitely take pictures of the baby when he’s born and probably make some cards to send out to some family members like our grandparents and people who were at the baby shower.
  • @zencats That sucks you had to go through that. There is really no reason to have your cervix checked unless you're in labor. Whether you're closed and high or effaced and at a loose 3cm, there is no way to predict how close you are to going into labor or having your baby. Also, the procedure is super uncomfortable and there's always a risk of infection (a small risk, but still). Also, labor doesn't feel like that. The pain from contractions is typically in your abdomen and back and sometimes it may radiate to your thighs. The pain from having your cervix checked is abrasive, invasive and a lot more "internal" feeling than labor pain. Your ability to tolerate the wave-like pain of labor has nothing to do with your tolerance for the sharper, more abrasive and artificial pain of having your cervix checked (or your membranes swept).

  • @MrsCaliRN It definitely is invasive and I didn’t really think about it being invasive before I got checked, I was just so excited to see how far along I was. I will not be getting checked again until I’m in labor. The midwife had blood on her fingertips too when she pulled her hand out and that made me feel a little bit sick, it must have irritated my cervix and maybe even the baby. Also that’s really good to hear you say that labor pain doesn’t feel like that because that type of pain is just agonizing for me. It feels like torture, I’m sure real labor will feel like torture too but I’m hoping not as bad and in a more tolerable way. It felt like someone was twisting my organs around and it was the most intense internal aching (but sharp at the same time) I’ve ever felt.
  • Congrats on your precious baby girl, @glitterbug6 !!
