Re: 3rd Trimester Check-in w/o Feb 4th
Any upcoming appointments? Massage on Wednesday, midwife appointment on Thursday. They'll be doing a cervical check to see where I'm at!
GTKY: After babies, are you planning to stay here or planning to venture to the PAIF Facebook?
Most likely both (did we have this GTKY last week?)
- How far along? EDD? 33 weeks, 2 days; March 18 C section
- How is everyone feeling this week? I really shouldn't complain. Def uncomfortable but I know it could be worse so I'll take whatever I'm feeling right now. Only a few more weeks to go.
- Any upcoming appointments? This Wednesday is just a regular obgyn appt.
I don't think I have anything crazy to report. Except that I'm waiting for the docs to tell me that I've gained too much weight. Last time they said I was still ok but guys, I think I've gained like 50lbs--or close to it! ugh!@darkstar42 sounds like you're on top of it and you have everything ready to go. Any day now. :-) Good luck on Thursday and let us know how it goes!

I actually ate a bunch of the cooked white fish sushi (fake krab) while I was preggo -- my doctor said as long as it was cooked, he was fine with it (and he wasn't too worried about properly sourced raw sushi, to be honest). My doctor was actually more concerned with me eating fish with high mercury levels than me eating raw fish.
My last normal meal before I was admitted at 35 weeks and came home with a baby was actually fake krab with cream cheese sushi XD

Every time I turn on it, it's like it wakes up LO and she starts a kick fest. Also looking forward to a cup of coffee. I know they say you can drink it during pregnancy, but MH gives me guilt trips since it took so much to get here. I'm always hearing "why risk it" making me self conscious.

@halips good luck tonight!! I'll be thinking about you. I am definitely also looking forward to sleeping on my stomach (though I guess breastfeeding/pumping plans will determine when that happens, I just remember with my daughter I couldn't put any pressure on my chest while that was going on because ouch!).
@kristimh80 I hope the babymoon was great (and I'm glad you didn't actually HAVE a baby during it)! And I hear you on the coffee, I've had some regular coffee a few times lately, but then with the heartburn I've gotten afterward have instantly regretted the decision. So there are lots of reasons to just power through and wait, I'm sure that first cup after baby gets here is going to taste so good to you!!
@madasm0530 Yes to wine, too!!
And thank you to everyone for the kind words and well wishes for my daughter. I think she's doing a bit better, we decided to keep her home from school this week so she doesn't pick up anything else while she's recovering, and I'm so glad - the extra quiet time will be good for her, I think. We might go a little crazy but... that's okay.

- How is everyone feeling this week? Good overall. Baby has flipped head down - great! - but now I have soooo much more pressure on my bladder. And I thought I was peeing a lot before. To make things worse, there are repairs being done on the closest washroom at my work place, so I have to walk an extra 5+ minutes to get to the next nearest one. I spend my whole day walking the halls.
- Any upcoming appointments? Had growth scan & BPP this week - got some nice views of LO head down and seemingly sucking his feet! So cute. OB appt next week where we'll get the actual growth measurements and BPP score, though I'm assuming everything is fine or we would have heard about it after the scan.
- GTKY: How about - what is one things you are SUPER looking forward to once your LO gets here?? A nice glass of red wine. Hubby already bought a fancy bottle to open to celebrate after baby comes.
@halips we're all thinking of you! Hope everything is going well.@kristimh80 @uterusdreams oh the heartburn is killing me too. Had some chili at a superbowl party and I've been regretting it all week. Gaviscon has been working pretty well for me, but some foods are just triggers no matter what.

@kristimh80 adorable bump, and your house looks so lovely!!
Random vent, so I'm scheduled to do an NST tonight and I tried calling to reschedule/ask if we can just wait until the one I have scheduled for next Thursday, and I'm waiting for a nurse to call me back... I'm hoping they're okay with it. I'd really rather not bring my daughter out with me tonight and my husband is still out of town - I mean if there were a crazy urgent reason for doing the NST tonight I would get it but I don't think there is?? So fingers crossed I can just do next week's.

I was induced early at 35 weeks (failed, got a c-section). My sister was induced at 36 weeks and also wound up with a c-section. Depending on your risk level, they will sometimes schedule inductions between 37-40 weeks for pregnancies they don't want to risk going post-dates (mild pre-E, hypertension, advanced maternal age, twins, etc). The closer to 40+ weeks you are, the more successful an induction will be. If you're not already dilated or in labor, there's always the chance that it won't work and you'll need a c-section. Is there a reason they are scheduling an induction date? (Personally, if I had gotten far enough for it to be an option, I would have agreed with a scheduled induction had my OB offered one because I like to have control over things > . > but that's just my personality!)

@kristimh80 We just covered this in my childbirth class last week so here's what I took away about inductions. The risks are that contractions will be way more intense and frequent than would happen naturally, and your body is not really ready for them yet - so, this could increase chance of needing other interventions (ie an epidural if you didn't want one to start with, or needing a c-section as people have already mentioned). The benefits of induction general outweigh the risks if done for a good medical reason, like pre-E, or various problems arising from going post-date. If doing an induction for scheduling/convenience, just be comfortable with the risk of a more intense labor. Hope that helps a bit! It's so hard to know how to balance all these things.

@kristimh80 I was induced with my daughter. She was due September 3, and my blood pressure was creeping up as of a few days after that (it had been borderline high-ish a few weeks leading up to my due date as well), so when I went for my check up the morning of September 6, my doctor decided I should be induced and admitted that evening. Long story short, it didn't work for me - they started with cervadil, then moved on to pitocin, and after like 36 hours they broke my water (the morning of September 8). At that point contractions got crazy but I didn't actually progress, so around 4pm it was decided that I needed a c-section and I had one a few hours later. In hindsight I don't think I would change anything, but it was a long and stressful 48 hours of feeling like my body wasn't doing what it "should have done." BUT I have several friends who have been induced and it went like clockwork - so I think it honestly is so dependent on the situation and if your body is ready, etc. I also think with high-risk pregnancies doctors are more likely to push induction/c-section because there's more of an element of control, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I also don't think it's always necessary. I think if you have a good relationship with your doctor he/she can answer some of the questions that were brought up in the various responses here - and you never know, maybe your doctor gets asked a LOT by other patients if they can schedule an induction, so maybe it's not really her wanting to "push" it but her just giving you the option because she assumes people want the option?
