STM+ Registry

Re: STM+ Registry

  • @chucksmom15 I think they do them twice a year, like April and Sept/Oct. But Toys R Us did it too, so it will be interesting to see what they do now that they don't have to compete.

  • I feel like we are starting over on so much, but a lot of the big purchases are covered. We kept crib, dresser/changing table, high chair, pack n play, play mat, Bumbo, exersaucer, BOB stoller, Click n Go stroller. I've got to check if our infant car seat is expired. We have a swing, but it takes up so much room, and DD hated it, so we won't be using it.

On our list: Rock n Play (going to give that one a try), new glider, bottles, pacis, carrier (I splurged and bought a Tula), a Honda Odyssey (no?? lol).

  • I started a private registry mainly for the completion discount and to track what I need.  I have most everything but since this LO is a boy I will definitely need some clothes.  We need a second pnp or bassinet since I will most likely have a RCS and will need something for
thr first floor during the day.   DD was born in August so not sure what neutral items of hers will work for this baby - have to go through everything.
  • @SpaceBurger OMG that’s the exact department I work in newborn/infant/toddler (NIT). It’s my favorite! I love being able to give real life reviews to people shopping about the toddler boys clothes because DS  has so many of them  :D

@sleepy33 There wasn’t one this past spring, so I’m not sure if there will be one spring 2019 or not! They usually inform us 4-6 weeks before major events like that so corporate could always be planning one. I wish they did it 2x a year like Babies R Us used to do.
  • @ashleaf2018 well girl, give us the tip on the DL if you hear about one in the spring!  :#

  • @sleepy33 Oh I will for sure! ;)
  • @teesmee I think the BRU completion discount was 10% when I had DD in 2017.

@ashleaf2018 my mom works at target (in the market department) and I love going when I visit her but I completely underutilize it because it's so darn tough to get to by me (super congested/overpopulated area with not enough parking). I don't even think I picked up a registry bag even though I made one there last time.

I'm not really planning on buying any new clothes until I know boy or girl (so after birth) since we have ALL the gender neutral things (and a good amount of girl clothes) for newborn/0-3 covered, really. People didn't really buy us clothes until after DD was born - I think the team green thing really discourages it, likely since the gender neutral clothes aren't as "exciting."

  • @teesmee as far as I know it's standard. I had a BRU registry with DS and I got a completion discount for it. Same with Target and Amazon, where my other two registries were.

  • Mostly doing it for the completion discounts. I used my 10% at Target last time to get tons of nursing camis, diapers, and wipes.

But I desperately need a new diaper bag. DS's is just falling apart after 3.5 years. Any rec's on who has nice ones? I can't find any messenger style anywhere!

Hey @ashleaf2018 do you have any insight on whether Target will have another car seat trade in program before our kiddos are born? I'm kicking myself I didn't take advantage of the one in ?September?
I feel like they do them twice a year, so there's a chance. But that could have been Babies 'R Us (RIP).

  • @nnewman4 I am looking for a new diaper bag, too. We had the Skip Hop messenger bag last time and I don't like it. Like, it's average and cleans up well, but it is always tipping over and spilling out.
  • @optbaby2017 Thanks! I was looking at a Skip Hop and wasn't thrilled, so I'll definitely remove it from my list. I had a Columbia expandable that I loved, but the outside zippers started to break within a year.

  • I like jujube diaper bags, they’re a little pricey but can be found on good sales too. I have a backpack style one (the be right back) that’s almost 2 years old and still looks brand new. I think the bff is the messenger style that people like, it can also be backpack style if you want.
  • Both my sisters really like the pacapod diaper bags.
  • I recommend going on YouTube and watching diaper bag unpacking videos. It gives you a good idea of what can fit in a certain diaper bag, what will be too big for you, etc. I have a Fawn Design original, a JuJuBe Be Right Back, and a JuJuBe Classy. I love the classy as a mom bag, not so much for a diaper bag. I love the BRB for cloth diapering but it packs a lot different than a normal backpack because it doesn’t have any gussets. The Fawn Design will Be our primary bag for 2 under 3.

One thing I do recommend with multiple kiddos is keeping what you can in the car. Changes of clothes, extra diapers and wipes, first aid kit, some snacks. If you’re a minimalist packer you’ll still need all those things but it makes it easier to get in and out of places if you’re not lugging all that stuff with you and you can just keep it in the car.
  • Has anyone seen the jujube BFF in person? Is it huge?
  • @knarlytaurus I have the BFF. I wouldn't say it's huge but it's a decent size. I just took some packed/unpacked photos for an in real life friend. There are 6 cloth diapers, a wetbag, wipes, 5 toys, a change of clothes, rash cream, a binky, a granola bar and sippy, my wallet and keys, kid sunglasses and a toothbrush. I normally don't carry that much unless we're out all day and rarely that many toys. I was just shoving stuff into see how much could fit at that point.

  • @fuscok88 that is great! I really appreciate you posting that. That is the exact same bag I want to get, too. I'm going with a beach/ocean theme for this LO and lived that bag! How has it held up? It looks like it's still in great shape.
  • @knarlytaurus I have had it for 2.5 years or so and it has held up great. I don't use it every day but I expect it'll get a lot more use when this next little gets here if we don't manage to potty train first since I'll need more space than just my little tote. I have a friend who bought one with her first 4 years ago and it also still looks great. It's nice to be able to wipe them out/down when dirty or something spills.
  • Second what @fuscok88 said! The BFF is great and you can machine wash it. I've only had to once because barf, and it looks brand new
  • Thank you @fuscok88 and @SpaceBurger. I'm starting to get so overwhelmed by baby gear, so lurking in the stm+ thread for tips and suggestions. The only things I've gotten so far are a car seat and swaddling blankets (they were just so so cute and hard to pass up - whales and waves, oh my!) I've been putting off any other purchases at least for a bit  but live heating what all of the STMs are getting.
  • We are getting new strollers. I had an Orbit with my first and they don't make them anymore and the carseat is expired. So, I destroyed and discarded the carseat and am trying to sell the stroller. We also sold our Uppababy GLuxe (wasn't a fan).
We are going to get an Uppababy Vista with ride-on board for the new baby/my 3 year old and probably a City Mini GT Double for travel and when we go somewhere the 3 year old will needs to sit/nap.

Also, I want the baby bjorn bouncer this time. I think I will try a different baby carrier this time. I didn't love my Ergo -- but I may just not like baby wearing. I will try one more time.

I also keep contemplating the Snoo but I'm not sure it will be worth the price. Tons of people in my neighborhood fb group are obsessed so I may buy one used when it gets closer. I have a thing with buying used. I never ever buy used because I'm a little OCD about cleaning and stuff... but I may convince myself lol.

I also just bought the nanit baby monitor. Excited to try it!
  • Random, but I meant to say this earlier. We used the boppy to do tummy time and it worked soooo much better than the floor. It helped him gain head and neck control faster since he wasn't fighting so hard. We did floor time too but the boppy was great. Sometimes on the floor he'd just put his head down because he didn't want to do it anymore.

  • @willmisspumpkinbeer there are tons and tons of carrier options! If there is a babywearing group near you they usually have a carrier library to try on. That way you can try it out before investing since so many are pricy.

@DuchessOfCambridge same! Our pediatrician recommended when I complained my son hated tummy time so much. It made a huge difference.
  • I think we're in decent shape over here. DD just turned 1 so all her baby stuff is still in good shape. I breastfed for 5 months so all that stuff is in great condition too. I just need more boppy covers.

Since we're having a girl, we're good on clothes. We'll probably transition her to her room at 3 months like we did with DD, and all we need is a dresser and a crib - I already have a mattress and plenty of sheets. Going to move our changing table to the new baby's room.

Just returned our Bob stroller which was giving us a lot of problems and got a double stroller. We have the next size up car seat too. Feeling good at the moment, but we're renovating our upstairs this winter and I might be singing a different tune in a few months!

Has anyone used Petunia Picklebottom diaper bags (specifically the boxy backpack)?

Also, @knarlytaurus the Jujube BFF with the sailor anchors is half off on Nordstrom.com!
  • Omg! @optbaby2017 at was an amazing find! I totally jumped on that awesome deal. Thank you for sharing. I'm rediculous excited about that :)
  • Hello— reviving this thread...but point me in the right direction if there is a better thread, please.  I think I’m going to get the city mini double stroller, but I would love to hear what others have! I should have gotten a single that converts to a double...but I missed that opportunity.  Anyone have a better suggestion than city mini?? I don’t jog so I don’t need to worry about a jogging stroller 🤣
  • @alexva2017 I am in a similar situation as you.  I have to get a whole new stroller/car seat combo but I also have a 3 year old who will be going on 4 in August and torn about getting a double stroller or not.  She is also in school full time until the end of June so I will really not need one for her until this summer I want to be able to walk around with this little baby in the nice weather until DD gets out for the summer.  What are anyone's thoughts on this, to get a double or to keep a single and hope the 3/4 year old can just ride it out?  Would love anyone's thoughts on this?
  • @MalonT23 do you have a single you can use now? If not, I would probably get a single travel system with car seat etc, and then get a cheaper double that you can use once DD is out for summer. She may want to be in stroller once she sees the baby in it? DS is only 18 months, so I know need a double that will last awhile. Also, those sit and stand strollers look cool-but I don’t actually know what is practical since my son is still so young.

@MalonT23  At almost 4, I think I would just get a single stroller and bring a wrap or other carrier.  If your older child wants to ride for a bit, wear the baby.  My DS turned 4 in October and last summer (when we had a foster baby) he never wanted to ride.  We live in a really small town and my 3 yr old preferred to ride his scooter or his bike when we went for walks.
I also have a sit and stand, but we don’t use it.  Double strollers and sit and stands are a pain if you go inside anywhere.
  • We will have two under two, so we knew we had to get a double. After a lot of research, we decided to get the City Select Lux. It can be configured as single or double, using the car seat or a seat, and eventually a bench or glider board. We looked at the other City Select that does the single/double, but I think it didn't have as many configurations or accessories. Also looked at the Vista (nice, but a lot more expensive), the Nuna (we have a Nuna infant seat), Contours, Joovy, Britax, and a few others. We liked a front to back  rather than side by side, though I used the City Select side by side double when I was a nanny and it maneuvered well enough.

We are also keeping our single to use when we want a smaller, easier to steer, footprint or only have one kid with. Like someone else said, baby wearing is always an option, and maybe even more practical if kid#1 is a little older and fickle about the stroller.
  • @fatmonica (love your name btw, love Friends) thanks, yeah I feel the same, I am worried about her seeing the baby in the stroller and wanting to ride too, we just transitioned her to a bed and she wants back in the crib already, because she knows the baby will have her crib.  Hopefully we can just convince her she is a big girl, and if not I can ergo wear the baby so that works too.  Thanks for your input.
  • @MalonT23 we are planning to do the same thing. Our daughter will be 4 in October and she’s good at walking when we go to the zoo, etc. Hoping she will not be jealous of the ride when there isn’t a seat for her in the stroller. If we end up needing to, we’ll look at the strollers that have a bench for easy sitting and standing.
  • For double stroller, literally everything @optbaby2017 said! We got the city select lux but will have 2 under 2 and planning a 3rd with about the same age difference. I have a Chicco Bravo travel system and I'll continue to use that while on leave. DD also has a little trike we push (much too young to do it herself) so I know we'll probably use the wrap for walks to the park and downtown as well as some errands with DD in the shopping cart and baby in the carrier/wrap. At the same time, I KNOW we are going to need a double and the City Select Lux has seats that can convert to above 45lbs as well as the option for a glider board (for DD down the line when we have a 3rd). This will mean we have the Bravo, Bob for jogging (single, not planning to get a double, ever), a lightweight travel umbrella stroller that I love (Summer Infant 3D Lite), and the City Select Lux, plus we have a trike and a wagon. I will say I got amazing deals on all of them except for the travel stroller as that was an "oh crap, we're going on a trip" purchase.

  • I’m definitely getting the mamaroo this time. I borrowed a friends for my last lo and now I need to have one. It was seriously the best thing ever!
