Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing and Treatment week of 1/28

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing and Treatment week of 1/28

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained rpl

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): 1st cycle post bench. Will be adding in progesterone once ovulation has been confirmed.

How are things going?: Trying to not stress over everything. I feel like it’s super easy to fall back into all that again though.

Any questions?: I don’t think so

GTKY: Would You Rather Have Skin That Changes Color Based On Your Emotions Or Tattoos Appear All Over Your Body Depicting What You Did Yesterday?

My facial expressions already show what I’m thinking, so we might as well add in my skin changing color according to my mood. The tattoos depicting what I did the day before may be a little much.

  • @kbrown2385 I feel you on the stress. I think knowing our TWW time is going to be off due to the progesterone that maybe *maybe* we won't stress quite as much... I'm trying to convince myself as much as you lol.

@beachbunnyxo123 I hope the break was good for you mentally. We all need some space sometimes!
  • @prpl11butterfly do you go in for post ovulation BW before you start your progesterone?

@kobrien827 the French fries are actually for the egg retrieval because salty foods help with fluid retention. I think a lot of women get confused and think it’s for transfer when it’s really for the ER. It wouldn’t hurt but there’s just nothing it would help with. Some tips that may help though are keeping your feet warm, avoiding cold foods and acupuncture if you have done it before!
  • @beachbunnyxo123 no, I'm to start the progesterone 3 days after a positive OPK. I was kind of expecting them to say I had to but they didn't 🤷‍♀️
  • @prpl11butterfly I’m anxious about the progesterone making a difference. There’s not many other options so I just want it to work. Are you using crinone or something else for progesterone? This will be my first time using crinone gel and I’m not looking forward to it. I’ve heard it can be super messy.
  • @kbrown2385 Crinone here as well. I have to do 1x a day so I'm thinking best plan is to do before bed. And inthewoods23 recommended the heavy duty liners as well so that will be happening. Same here, I want something to help because we're due some positivity anytime now....
  • @beachbunnyxo123 Thank you for the clarity! Will definitely keep those tips in mind, thanks!!!

  • Well, not to make this all about me, but my hcg is still at 38. So now we have to figure out if it's just slow to come down or if it was a molar pregnancy. And I'm definitely benched longer than three cycles. Super.
  • @ruby696 did they give you the # yet? I'm just super curious and being nosey...
  • @prpl11butterfly Hcg level or how long I'm benched?
  • @ruby696 Ugh that is so frustrating! How far out are you? Really hoping it wasnt a molar.
  • @ruby696 HCG

@nitnat007 it's great when they can work around our FW. DH and I had a back and fourth last week about a trip he has to take next month. Trying to squeeze it in between TWW and other trips is a hassle. MH wouldn't enjoy poking me as he despises needles. I'd be begging my mom to help....
  • @prpl11butterfly It's at 38. I'm hoping it's going down on it's own. If it is, I get a shot of methotrexate. If it's not, then we will discuss next steps tomorrow.

@kbrown2385 I used Cytotec December 1st, so almost two months.
  • @ruby696 I’m so sorry you’re still dealing wit this. I had a similar experience after a blighted ovum from my second FET. I had a d&c But my hcg hung around a low number and wouldn’t drop to negative after weeks. it wound up being that I still had placental tissue in my uterus and needed to have another d&c two months later. Have they done a saline sono yet? They should be able to see if there is left over tissue.

@nitnat007 hi friend! I hope these next few weeks go by quick for you! And I also think it’s always worth it to try!!! You never know!
  • @beachbunnyxo123 They did the saline sono and I had heavy bleeding for a week after. It seems like maybe that cleared things out, but we'll see. My RE said there wasn't anything visible during the saline sono, but it only takes a few remaining cells to keep producing hcg. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see what my numbers are tomorrow.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #2

How are things going?: I hope this TWW doesn't go slow. Last time was so nice because it was between Christmas and New Year's when I had all this time off. Things are okay otherwise. Temps show I O'ed the day before the IUI so I'm not sure what to think about that.

    Any questions?: Nah

GTKY: Would You Rather Have Skin That Changes Color Based On Your Emotions Or Tattoos Appear All Over Your Body Depicting What You Did Yesterday?
Skin that changes color. Would be a great indicator to DH, who doesn't always understand emotions, of how I'm feeling. He can be really clueless sometimes!

  • @celticknotfire I'm so very sorry you're back here. <3
  • Lurking
@ruby696, I haven’t followed your whole story, so please forgive me if I have no clue what I am talking about, but to me, it seems rash to give a MtX injection if your numbers aren’t rising, considering the bench time it involves.  Before there was any reason to suspect my molar pregnancy was cancerous, my numbers were much higher and we were letting them have a few months to drop on their own.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI and 1 blocked tube

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): trying on our own

How are things going?: H just scheduled his surgery for his varicocele. We decided we will wait to see a RE as right now, our only options would be trying on our own or doing IUI/IVF. Since it looks like his issue will be resolved in a few months, there's not need to spend the $$$ right now.  We would be benched the few weeks following his surgery and by the time we could do IUI/IVF, his count will probably be back to normal. Also, did I mention I am starting a new job in a few weeks and that means I will miraculously get pregnant because this is how the Universe always works?  :p

  • @holly321 Thank you for that. My levels aren't very high, so I don't want to do anything that's going to delay me further unless absolutely necessary. If they are going down and my doctor recommends the injection, I think I'll ask to wait a couple weeks and retest.
  • @ruby696, I am by no means an expert, and I myself have the rare odd molar pregnancy, but I am here if you have any questions.
My HCG with my first loss was slow to drop, it was incredibly frustrating and scary wondering if I needed a 2nd d&c.
  • @nitnat007 I hope the next 2 weeks go by super quickly.

    Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

    Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): trying on our own. Will possibly go back to Clomid next cycle since we accidentally skipped a month.

How are things going?: decent! I've been too busy with work to really focus on TTC/IF. However, I find myself getting more and more nostalgic when I see LOs. And I feel good about donating all the random baby clothes I've purchased to Goodwill this weekend. I figured someone else would get more use out of them than me  :D

Any questions?: should I even bother asking my OB about doing Clomid again at my appt tomorrow if it seemed to dry up all my fertile CM? Should we just keep trying naturally and go to the RE for letrozole or something? (DH and I negotiated when to go back, and the decision is April)

GTKY: Would You Rather Have Skin That Changes Color Based On Your Emotions Or Tattoos Appear All Over Your Body Depicting What You Did Yesterday? I also show my emotions on my face and have a really hard time containing myself. I don't think my emotions are really a secret to many except for maybe DH. I guess tattoos, but everyone would find out how boring I really am  :D a whole lot of TB, Netflix, and playing with my animals.

  • @kbrown2385 you're right, it's SO easy to fall back into stressing. I hope you're able to find some ways to relieve the stress and that the progesterone works for you!

@beachbunnyxo123 welcome back! I hope the break was helpful and completely understand why it's needed.

@prpl11butterfly oh man, watch out DH! Hoping the progesterone does the trick for you.

@kobrien827 McD's fries?! That's so random, but hey they're good so if they help, why not. I hope your U/S goes well today and you're able to move forward with FET next week!

@ruby696 I'm sorry about the HCG :( hopefully you get some answers soon and can get off the bench sooner rather than later and keeping my FX that it's not molar.

@nitnat007 only 2 weeks! That's great he has flexibility on his trip dates. Hopefully it works out for you all, but even if it doesn't, at least you can finally feel like you're trying instead of being on the bench (? I don't want to assume how you feel about it :) )

@inthewoods23 hopefully you and YH are able to plan some stuff to make the TWW go by quickly! January is the hardest month too, since there's nothing going on and everyone's just exhausted from the holidays.

@celticknotfire I'm so sorry to see you back here :(

@rikiteacup so glad YH's issue can be resolved! And congrats on the new job, it sounds great from your description in the WTO thread. I'm happy you decided to go for it! And yes, that's definitely how it works haha!

@bakerstreetboys I'm sorry the last few weeks have been so sh*tty. I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel. I hope you and YH are able to come to a decision on how to proceed that you're happy with.

  • @kobrien827 something that really helped me was to draw up the PIO and warm it by keeping it under or between your boobs for about ten minutes. Gets the oil warmed and thinned for injection and won’t get too hot. Heating pad helps at injection site so you don’t get too lumpy although I stopped using the heating pad after transfers cause I didn’t want to raise my body temp. You’ll be sore and bruised but it’s really just more of an annoyance rather than pain. Also, if your husband is doing the injection on the right side, then make your left leg the weight bearing leg this way it relaxes the muscle on the other side. You got this!
  • @prpl11butterfly I always appreciate when he has any sort of say on when eh travels because normally it is totally out of his control, so this is a nice change. FX that your mom will step up to the plate on giving shots. i honestly felt by the end of it that I probably would have been able to have given them to myself if I really had to.

@inthewoods23 FX for a speedy TWW for you. Try and do some fun things during this time.

@celticknotfire Oh friend I was so heart broken to see your name pop back up here. I know that there are no words that will help, but know that we are here for you. Be kind to yourself.

@rikiteacup Oh new job! That is awesome. Huge congrats to you! And yes, that is totally how it works lol.

@bakerstreetboys I am so sorry that things have been tough over the last few weeks. Having the clock working against you definitely doesn't help matters either. We are in the same boat, so totally get it. Feel free to reach out if you need a shoulder.

@b_1029 That is exactly it! Just having him home and being able to do "something" is helpful. Having him away just makes it feel that much further from possible. I think there would be a lot of Netflix on my tattoos too lol.

@kobrien827 Amazing! So excited for you!!
  • @nitnat007 My mom is totally grossed out by my daith piercing but was always helping my dad with his stoma when it was new and confusing. I'm hoping it doesnt come to injectables but I know she would do it.

@bakerstreetboys I'm sorry the clock us putting additional pressure on you.

@b_1029 I honestly have no idea but it can't hurt to reach out to an RE and see what they say.

Question about +OPK/ progesterone. Todays wondfo was almost +. Like an untrained eye may have just went with it. My CB digital was not +. Just the blank empty circle. Should I retest tonight or should I wait until tomorrow's testing time and see? I'm supposed to start the progesterone 3 days after + but I don't want to start it too early and interfere with O....
  • @prpl11butterfly I would retest with a Wondfo tonight to see if it becomes a true positive. I find most of my +OPKs first show up in the evening so I bet if it was almost + earlier, it might be a few hours later. If you're pretty sure it is a + this evening, double check with the CB digital and start your progesterone accordingly.
