How to pronounce

How would you pronounce Alia? Like ALLY-a (said quickly) or a-LEE-ya? Is there supposed to be a strong extension of the LEE? I don't want to be saying it wrong ☹

    Welcome!  We have a "Favorite Name Thread" which would be a perfect way to get lots of different responses on this post.  If you're planning on sticking around, you might like to read the sticky posts at the top to find out where the most people will see/answer your different questions. :)  

    If I were calling this name on one of my class lists, I would say uh-LEE-ya and then immediately apologize in advance just in case. :) It would probably take a spelling of Allyah or at the very least Allia to get me to go for the ALLY-a you mention or even ALL-ya on the first try.
