Re: paif graduates new mommies - january 2019

  • Thanks @byrneme! I didn't start one at first, since I wasn't sure anyone was still on here and not on Facebook.
  • While I joined that group also I’m lurking/still on this site. I wanna see some of the ladies @kristimh80 @mayflower513 @JamieH2000 that started with me or close to when I was cycling get their precious babies home. Plus I know not everyone’s on Facebook and you guys are my people through this IF/early parenthood journey.

  • Yup, I would have started one if I had realized I was still posting in the December thread....errr.... > . >

  • Thanks for starting a new thread! Ds1 is sick and I think he's given it to me. I woke up today with a sore throat. I just have to hope and pray that M doesn't get sick. Meanwhile, he is growing like a weed and we may finally be moving out of NB sleepers. He can still wear NB everything else, just the sleepers are getting too short.
  • Questions on your first postpartum period... Mine came about 3 weeks ago. It was about the same in terms of flow, but lasted 6-7 days. Then it just came back again 2 weeks later! Is that normal or due to being on the mini pill?
  • Thanks @byrneme
I still come on here daily since I'm starting the consult process again and also to keep up with @persnickity - over two years strong of almost daily chats since our IUI and babies were days apart.
@wildrainbow - it's crazy how fast they grow!! We're just going in to 18-24M here and I'm almost excited to get to T2 so I dont feel like I'm constantly pack up clothes/buying new ones lol

  • @persnickity I've had two actual period postpartum which were mostly my normal period but I've also spotted enough to fill multiple liners during mid cycle while being on the mini pill. I don't want to go to the hassle of making an OB appointment to change birth control only to probably ditch it this summer anyway as we make some kind of decision on pregnancy #2. I just really don't have the off time to do it right now. (thanks stomach bug)

  • @persnickity You can expect your cycle to be Cray Cray for a little bit. For instance, after ds1, I had a super short cycle for my first few, then a 54 day cycle. It was crazy. Eventually, I evened out, but it took about 4 or 5 cycles.

@JWatt5 ds1 is in 2T. I'm about to have to go up to 3T because of length. It sucks because he's so skinny that pants fall off of him. Most of the time, the only thing holding his pants up is his diaper.
  • @wildrainbow - That's my nephew. Skinny but tall and now that hes potty training it's like he needs a belt or suspenders lol. I also find that certain brands fit way better than others. He pretty much lives in the legging pants by Little and Lively now - stretchy and comfy...the fit early and then longest.

  • @JWatt5 I'm waiting for that 2T size too! We have some shirts that are that size already. l'm grateful that we still get to chat!!

@wildrainbow Are you able to find pants with draw strings? Mackenzie has the same issue of pants falling off. It's so hard to find things that fit.
  • I'm ready for spring when I can make the pants that are too short into capris :) Zoey isn't skinny by far but she is long. We have our 18 month appointment (how the heck did THAT happen btw) on Monday and I'm super pumped to get her stats.

  • @persnickity It's so hard to find draw string pants for boys and the ones I have found are still to big. Sigh.

@JWatt5 I've never heard of those pants before, but I'm definitely going to check them out.
  • @wildrainbow we have better luck finding them in boys than girls. But usually stress in leggings, since it seems most pants for girls are leggings.

    @persnickity
I was actually wondering how the sizes went -- Anne's starting with the 9-12 month/12 month sizes now and I didn't see much bigger at the store in the section I was shopping in....

I did stock up on a bunch of leggings, heh -- they had ones they said were extra durable for crawling babies, but from the looks of it, she's working on getting walking going very soon with her balance improving so much when she pulls to stand. I was helping her walk across her nursery this morning by holding her hands!

  • @mbradfo2 the next size from 12 months was 18 months, then 24 months. Some go from 18 months to 2T.

It's amazing when they start walking. They go from one or two awkward steps to full on walking/running so fast!!
  • @persnickity
it seems like they get these skills so fast sometimes! my mom says she was taking some steps for her earlier in the week (cruising) and she just started crawling on her hands and knees for real a month ago! Now of course she can shoot across the floor on her hands and knees if you aren't watching XD

I sorta miss the little cuddly baby phase since it went by so fast -- but this pre-toddler phase is fun too. She has such a personality -- she's a total goofball at times and then you'll see her looking out of the window very seriously and observantly. She reminds me alot of myself and she's really independent. She's been eating out of a pouch on her own one of her meals each day and learning the sippy cup (I think the straw ones will be a bit easier for her to figure out....she's still getting a handle on the idea that you need to lift the cup up to tip the water out). I need to expand her finger food diet but she's been sharing a bit of what we eat when she can.

  • The munchkin 360 cup is awesome! Also these ezpz mats are amazing!! https://www.ezpzfun.com/happy-mats/

Also, these: Neat Solutions Sili-Stick Table Topper, 3-Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4UMC64/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yOZsCb4TJQKWT

The place mats are awesome when you go out to eat. This way they can have their own food and you dont have to worry if they will break a plate.
  • Baby clothing sizes baffle me. I recently purchased 12-18mo size baby clothes from Uniqlo (they have these cute Moomin outfits) and oh boy the arms are soooo skinny. My soon to be a 10-mo old baby isn’t fat but kind of built solid and the arms were way too skinny for him. Strange, as the sweatpants I got were HUGE. Made a mistake of washing the clothes before trying them on. Ugh.

@wildrainbow Thanks for the mat recommendation. I think I’d need to get some flat mats. I have an ezpz mat that works with Stokke tray and my son picks it up and drops it on the floor.

Anyone have any sippy cup you recommend?

We love the Munchin 360 cups. They were the only ones ds1 liked. They have this one, which my toddler still uses for his water.

  • @cashewchicken much like women's cloths, children's cloths fit so differently depending on the company... some are really wide and others skinny...

@mtpbadger Oh no! Get well soon. I haven’t had the flu but around 4 months pp I got UTI that turned into kidney infection and I suffered from fever and the worst chills ever for three days. During that time I had my husband feed my son from the freezer stash and I pumped only when I felt engorged. My supply dropped a bit from the illness but once I got better, I was able to increase the supply again by pumping/nursing often and drinking lots and lots of fluid.

  • @cashewchicken oh good, I was worried about my supply so I’m glad to hear even if it takes a dip I can get it back. I’m so close to my goal of nursing her to 10 months (and then having enough frozen to get her to a year) that I didn’t want to have to stop earlier. I think the worst has passed but last night and this morning were rough. I’m sad I had to miss her first swim lesson but there will be plenty more! And DH and Abigail got to have a good bonding moment
  • I hope you feel better soon @mtpbadger. The flu sucks. Being sick and nursing feels like it literally sucks the life out of you. Just try to stay hydrated and nurse as much as possible when you feel better.
  • @mtpbadger being sick and nursing is not easy. You have to balance nursing/pumping with trying to rest and get better. I had a stomach bug, but luckily it was after she was a year old. I was able to nurse as she wanted, but it was only a few times a day. I did have a terrible cold (with a fever) when she was 6 months. My supply still took a temporary dip, even with still nursing. It came back when I got better.

@mtpbadger I read that once the milk supply has been established, any dip in supply will likely be temporary and you can recover by increasing the frequency of pumping/nursing and staying hydrated. That definitely has been true for me.

@wildrainbow hoping u and ur boy feel better! Cool mats I will have to look into those!!

@cashewchicken that’s teally interesting I didn’t realize some places would make u wait that long for another.  A part of me wanted to be pregnant already and the other part is shocked she’s gonna be 8 months went.

@stella_700 I’m still in awe that ur ready for another with twins!!! Ur a rockstar!

@mbradfo2 I feel like my girl want to walk before crawling.  She keeps doing them downward dog but no crawling yet.

@byrneme thanks for starting!! I’m with u in the capris.  Everything is first too long and then I put it on again and it’s too short!

  • Wanted to say hello! I'm not on FB and haven't checked in awhile due to the lack of activity. My twins are 9 months and time is flying! We met with our RE a month ago and plan to do a FET end of May. I have to be finished pumping by end of Feb. I do have frozen milk so I will likely be able to provide until their birthday in April which was my goal. Having a plan for FET has me with mixed emotions. Excited but also cautious and don't want to get my hopes up. Some of my darkest days were during the 3 years of infertility. We had success with our first IVF but I know we were so lucky. We aren't telling anyone our plans for FET. We didn't either for IVF as I felt it would add more stress and pressure. Some might think we're crazy for wanting more kids so soon but we'd love a couple more. We have 6 embryos remaining. Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm! -50 wind chill here in MN yesterday..can't wait til spring!
  • @Hopeful_mom My RE follows the CDC’s recommendation of at least 18 months between pregnancies. At first it seemed like a long time to wait but I realized that my desire to nurse my son for a year puts the transfer schedule to around 18 months post birth anyway. It’ll take about a month to wean (if I’m lucky as my son is attached to my boobs), wait 3 months for my period to return and my cycles/hormones to normalize and then two months of treatment before the transfer.

@wildrainbow That sounds great! We all need some alone time! My favorite past time is surfing the web while snacking after my son falls asleep. Honestly I should just go to bed early but I can’t stop.

@doubleblessings1124 Wow, that’s awesome! Good luck on your FET!

I thought at 3 months it was returning. I stained and that was it.  I’ve been told that by month 7/8 even if breastfeeding it usually comes in around then...wonder if that holds true?  It does sound like a good game plan.  Originally I thought I’d try sooner but I’m wondering if I’d like to make a tear bf too.  She’s all about the boobs even with supplementing.

@LynnNJ welcome and congrats on ur sons!! Looks like #2 took tight away good for u!!! There is a FB group too @mbradfo2 has the link floating around here somewhere...

    @hopefulmom

I did not miss my period either, honestly. It's been much heavier since it returned after delivery

I'm hoping to visit my clinic with Anne in the next few weeks to show off how much she's grown and I'm sure they'll be pushing me about future cycles haha  My parents still expect me to go back and have a sibling for Anne via IVF again; I don't have the heart to tell them we decided it was best to be one and done. I just don't want to risk my health in future pregnancies after developing high blood pressure and pre-E in this one - and I would be Advanced Maternal Age now too. Anne needs me too much for me to risk anything like that. I think she'll be happy with having her cousins as surrogate sisters. My good thoughts and wishes with everyone thinking about starting up the process again though!!

I'm so grateful for my little girl; I had given up hope after my m/c. I think one will be enough for me

  • @cashewchicken @Hopeful_mom my period just came back at about 16 months and I'm still nursing once a day.  It didn't come back until after a month or two of once a day.
