Infertility

(Re) Intro! *Trigger Warning*

Hello everyone! I was pretty active on these boards a couple years ago when I was going through multiple IUIs and then IVF to conceive my now 19 month old beautiful daughter! I wanted to pop back on here and join the community again because I found it to be such a wonderful support (and I even met an IRL buddy through these boards who also conceived via IVF)!

Just a brief recap- we have an MFI diagnosis. Had 3 failed IUIs in 2016. Did a round of IVF (egg retrieval only, no fresh transfer) and ended up with 7 PGS normal embryos. I know how lucky I was to end up with that many. We were successful on our first FET in September 2016 and are now proud parents to the most perfect little girl who will be 2 this coming May!

DH and I have decided to do our next FET sometime in the next couple months, so I scheduled a consultation with our RE for Feb 4th. I'm starting to get really excited about doing this again (but also very anxious, of course). I'd love to get to know some of you! Infertility is such a lonely, painful process and I found a lot of support here. I hope I can offer some support and hope to the rest of you!

I always think "this is my favorite age!" and then she gets bigger and I'm like, "nope THIS is my favorite age!" Haha. Being a mom is so much fun. I can't believe how big our littles ones are now!

One thing that I've been worried about is how having another baby is going to affect Elle. I know that she will eventually adjust no matter what, but it's still something I worry about. I mean let's face it, I worry about just about everything when it comes to her! :joy:

  • @capps42613 yes I do remember you from PAIF back in the day! How is your son doing?? Thanks for popping in to say hi!

@Tulips29 our consult went well! It was pretty quick and straight forward. My RE prescribed me BCP to start on my next CD3 which was last Saturday. Saline ultrasound and FET class (where we get my meds and all our dates for everything) is scheduled for March 5th! My guess is that our actual FET will end up being at the end of March or early April! What about you?? Is your retrieval coming up? And are you planning to do a fresh transfer or FET? It’s SO strange yet also exciting to be back here again 😊

  • @wifeinraleigh28 that's great that you have your protocol and tentative FET timeline! I just went through a retrieval last month and am going through another one hopefully in March. We only have 1 good embryo from this last retrieval and 1 poor looking one, so hopefully we can get a few more next round. Then I'm hoping for an FET in May. I'm trying to avoid an April transfer since if it works, the baby will be born anywhere from Christmas to mid-January. We already have my grandpa, mom, mine, my son and hubby's birthdays all in a span of 3 weeks from end of December to early January. It's a lot! I know it might be silly thinking this far ahead, but I can't help it!

@Tulips29 Haha I totally get it. If there is one good thing about going through all this it's the ability to choose when we implant the embryo! And that is a lot of birthdays around that time of year! I really hope we both see success here in the next few months and can hang out over on PAIF again soon :)

Wow, the thought of being pregnant again just really hit me. It seems surreal that this could be real life again! But still I'm trying to be realistic and not get my hopes up.

  • @wifeinraleigh28 I'm so scared to feel or think that way at this point. I felt this way too last year when we transferred our last remaining embryo. I was picturing being pregnant again, started thinking of possible due dates, etc. Then the embryo didn't stick and I was devastated. And here I am again, a full year later, still going through retrievals. This process has so many emotions and highs/lows that anything is possible. But I'm hopeful and excited at the same time to be going through this with a familiar "face"

  • @Tulips29 GL with your retrieval next week and FX for some healthy embryos! Yeah April 5th seems so soon yet also far. I know it will be here before we know it! I never did anything to prepare for my last FET other than abstain from drinking (which I don't really do much of anyway). I plan to make sure I'm well hydrated and I'll probably cut back on caffeine too. I'm not sure what else people do other than that! My life is a lot busier this time around because of taking care of the little one and keeping her busy, so I won't be able to rest as much as I did before! But hopefully that won't matter since I don't really have a choice in the matter

  • @wifeinraleigh28 there's also eating pineapple + core after the transfer, eating brazil nuts, wearing socks and drinking only warm liquids/eating warm foods. I hear acupuncture might help too, which I never tried but am interested in doing if it can increase the odds! I might also end up on a similar FET schedule as you so we may be cycle buddies
