@professormama I miss my bras, but honestly I don't miss my old jeans! They were too tight anyway because I was getting a muffin top lol. My goal is to not have to size up, though, after I lose the weight (I know, maybe wishful thinking). I actually really like maternity jeans! I'm pretty sure I need to size up on my underwear, though I'm just living in denial.
@lilpotatomama my DH says the same things... Tells me to ask my questions on here couse he has no idea how to answer them😂 I also need to hear up and buy someore maternity shirts. I just have a hard time spending money on them when I'd so much rather buy more nursery decor.. hahaha
@rennie1108 I haaaate my maternity jeans. They're 5 years old (from previous baby) and the elastic is stretched out, so I'm constantly having to hike them up. But, I can't bring myself to buy new when I know this is going to be my last baby and we are just 3 months from the end.
Oh, I hear ya on that! I will say that my maternity jeans stretch out easier than my regular ones, so I wash them (or at least dry them) almost after every time I wear them. I just like not having my fat roll over the top
@MRDCle Ummmm...so I’ve started thinking my G/H/somewhere up there cups are small in proportion to my bump and I can get away with it. Went to CVS two nights ago sans bra (but with several layers).
I also miss my non-maternity clothes. This time I bought clothes that would double as nursing shirts because last time I wore out those clothes. I was looking at my old nursing bras and I am considering just replacing them. They are so sad looking. The thought of wearing them again makes me sad. But it also seems wasteful to buy new ones.
@MRDCle Nah, go for it. I'm currently sitting in my office bra-less because my boobs are killing me and I apparently now require one without an underwire if I'm going to get through the full work day without taking it off. Don't judge me.
+1 for being sick of maternity wear. I have been alternating black jeans + stretchy shirt + open sweater and black tights + 4 or 5 jersey dresses all winter and I'm super over looking like a frumpy casual cotton goth.
@professormama: I definitely can't stop browsing non-maternity clothes online! I've already picked out some jeans to splurge on postpartum while I'm waiting to get back to my regular size (apparently Madewell Roatripper High Waist are great for new moms because they run big in the waist and stretch), and bought 2 sale dresses (one for $17!) from Anthropologie that will be good for nursing. They're coming today, along with some sale heels because shoes are the only legit cute thing I can buy right now.
And that dress you found is beautiful! Definitely adding it to my PP fantasy list. Everyone else should share what they're finding, too!
@saucentoss I bought one new nursing bra already. My nursing bras were destroyed after last time. Given that I plan on nursing for at least a year (minimum), I have zero guilt about purchasing appropriate bras a second time around - especially since a bra is an every day necessity.
@TheSouffleGirl I can’t believe you found an Anthropologie dress for $17! That’s a steal. Way to go girl. I definitely have an entire Pinterest board of post maternity wardrobe ideas going. My wardrobe has been a little sad for awhile before getting pregnant, because we were trying for almost a year, so I refused to buy basically anything during that time. After this baby gets out and my hips shrink back (took about 6 months for my pelvis to return to normal last time), I’m definitely doing some serious damage. My wardrobe is going to spark some joy, damn it!
I also bought this one, which is definitely nursing-friendly, for $23 on sale: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/daphne-waffle-dress Looks like it's currently sold out, but there have been a ton of popbacks since the tag sale ended (can you tell I'm an Anthro sale junkie?).
ETA: And I hear you on the needing a wardrobe overhaul. I also didn't buy anything while TTC, which was only 2-3 months for us, but I *TW* had a MMC immediately before, so I've basically been pregnant or recovering size-wize for 10 months already *end TW*.
I’ll respond to everyone in a minute but y’all, I need some tough love here. I really just ordered a route 44 cherry limeade and a large chili cheese tots from sonic. On DoorDash. When sonic is less than 10 minutes away from me. I THOUGHT I WAS STRONGER THAN THIS ETA that my eating habits haven’t been consistent and I’ve REALLY been trying to eat more veggies and protein so it isn’t even just about my laziness!!!
@TheSouffleGirl you're going to look great! I think that first dress is definitely nursing friendly (not my size). Honestly, I never wore any nursing-specific clothing with my first. Instead I just lifted up or pulled down my top, depending on what I was wearing. Nursing tops always stretched out and showed my bra. I was happier just whipping my boob out and doing the damn thing. lol
So much yes to missing my non-maternity clothes. I have a big work event coming up that’s two days and I always wear this really great dress that I own in multiple colors with a sweater or suit jacket, but it 100% won’t work with a 7 month bump so I went through my closet the other day hopelessly trying to find another dress that could work for the second day. Eventually I ended up buying another maternity dress that should help get me through the remainder of my work events pre-baby.
I really can’t complain, I get to dress really casually every day that isn’t an event so I’ve been rocking the same few shirts, sweaters, and maternity jeans that I got on sale. But I can’t wait to be able to wear my regular clothes again.
@lilpotatomama: I'm feeling pathetic and soft today, so I think you can call this one a trial run to make sure it works for postpartum. ;-) It's important to know exactly how long it takes, too, right?
@TheSouffleGirl it took less than 30! And I have to say it was 10000% worth it. I have been craving sonic for at least two months, and it was so satisfying! I’ll make up for it tomorrow with a chicken salad, haha
@lilpotatomama I can't give you any tough love because I think ordering Sonic is totally ok!! And it sounds amazing. I just had 6 oreos and I have a snickers waiting for me when I'm done with work. I just passed my glucose test so I wanted to celebrate
Oi. I actually had to get some work done and I come back to 25+ new replies on this!
Now through the end of this month is going to suck. I hate being in accounting during tax season.
If im MIA that is why.
Also I miss a bigger wardrobe, I went to wear one of my few maternity tops the other day and it now has a giant stain on it. No idea what happened but the number of things I can wear is dwindling and I’m very hesitant to buy more. Ugh.
Actually what I really need is a damn washer and dryer of my own. Cannot wait to move.

@thatbaintforbetty I also noticed a stain on one of my maternity shirts and when I went to try and clean it off, I just wound up with a bigger wet spot on my shirt.....and it's exactly where my nipple is. So now it just looks like I'm leaking milk. Lovely.
@professormama YES, I miss my clothes so much. Keep hitting up various goodwills for maternity wear, but spent almost 2hrs the other night sifting through the jeans and dresses section as they didn’t have a specific maternity section at all. UGH.
I will say I actually like my maternity pants for the first couple of weeks afterwards. Because of the panels it felt like it held everything in and together more. You could use a binder or support tank the same way. But it helped me in that transitionional stage where things are moving back but not very fast.

We’re fucking miserable here. - my back is totally shot and I can’t walk in straight lines without severe pain, let alone wrangle DD. Tylenol is a joke. - DD didn’t have enough of a nap and has zero patience for anything (like prepping her food) - DD also somehow sneak pooped and sat in it for a while and now has a diaper rash that clearly stings when she pees. - DH can’t handle both of us crying or DD’s destructive tendencies - I can’t handle DD climbing all over my belly or biting my nipple while nursing or trying to put a package of frozen blueberries on my bare skin - DD can’t handle anything and has been crying for over an hour straight. Send help.
@lyse01 I’m so sorry. I can empathize a little though my back pain isn’t nearly that debilitating. DD is teething canines and has been an absolute disaster for a week. And hasn’t had enough sleep. So many tantrums. I think we’re getting a preview of the terrible twos. She’s also clinging and insisting on me holding her, and wants to sit on me and throw herself on me, which hurts the back and the bump. Toddlers, man. Hang in there. Hope the diaper rash clears up quick too.
I miss the variety in my pre-preg shirts. With DD I used my maternity clothes for the last 4 months and then the 6 months (pants after my csection) and 12 months (tops for nursing), so they were worth the cost.
I miss my non-maternity clothes as well. I just spent the other night putting all the stuff that doesn’t fit in storage because looking at stuff I want to wear, but can’t was making me feel really bummed out.
Good morning. I woke up to my 4 year old complaining of a wet pull up, but the second he said “mommy,” both my legs and feet cramped up at the same time. I also have heartburn to the point I feel like barfing. So year, great start to the morning. Can’t wait to go spend my entire day in dress clothes at a work conference. Blah.
I don't bump for one day and holy new messages, Batman .
@professormama, I hope your day gets better from here! My kiddo was crying in the night because his legs hurt so much (growing pains?) so I'm dragging today.
@mighty_montgomery, that sounds like my kind of lunch, haha. I would eat like a hobbit if I had the energy to make food that often.
I'm still hoping to get the majority of work done in our nursery this weekend, but there's a blizzard on the way . Ugh. Not looking forward to it, since my car sucks in the snow and I hate driving DH's truck.
I somehow rallied to make French meat pie last night, and I’m a little pissy that there was only enough leftover for dinner tonight and DH’s lunch. He took a huge second helping yesterday. Guess it’s hospital cafeteria food for me today
So after a weird awkward meeting with a team I work with often. It is clear my boss is stretching the truth on having things covered for maternity leave. FUCK. I enjoy my job and I really don't want to come back to a total shit how. le sigh

Somewhat related to the maternity wear struggles: Yesterday, I decided to just put my wedding ring away and stop trying to wear it for the time being. It doesn’t fit anymore. 😟 weirdly it is suddenly too loose (I thought there was supposed to be swelling??), and I’ve had some close calls with losing it in the past week or so.
My 28 week appointment today was really, really frustrating (Rant is in the glucose thread) and I do not know how I’m going to make it through these biweekly appointments without losing it.
mesweettea With my last pregnancy, I got a nice sturdy chain and wore my rings on it for the end of pregnancy. If you miss wearing it, it's not a bad solution. Also, it took 6 months post birth for me to be able to wear mine on my finger again.

I texted DH earlier that I had a mad bruschetta craving and now I have this
It's just breakfast, lunch, and pre-dinner.
