Re: RANDOMS 1/14

  • @professormama it’s all over my Facebook feed and I’m mostly shocked at the terrible photo quality from 2004. Fortunately no one is commenting on their worsening metabolism, just on their party style and how happy they are to have families and come into their own hobby-wise.

  • It finally happened. A random coworker reached out and touched my belly today. She immediately pulled her hands back and was so embarrassed. She said, "I'm so sorry,  I don't know why I did that. I've never done that and I used to hate it when people did it to me," etc. Thankfully that never happened with my first, so that was new for me. I'm not a fan.
  • @frenchfrymama dang girl! I’m tired just reading that.
    this is my backup acct.

  • @chrissdee ugh! Well at least she apologized I guess.

It’s all over my feed too. I’ve been amazed at the terrible photo quality from a dozen years ago too. I think most people have been pointing out how they look better. Which might be true, but might also be photo quality. Lol.
  • @chrissdee at least she apologized and sympathized with how annoying it is!

People have been calling me “ mama” since I announced and have been all over my belly. I hate being touched so it really bugs me but I’m also such a wuss and won’t speak up. At least there are only 3 months left of this!!
  • Baby hiccups are really starting to bug me. I’d rather get a kick to my cervix or elbow in my side than the hiccups this little one is having.
  • @chrissdee, yikes!! at least she apologized. I laughed as I read it, though. sorry to laugh at your misfortune  :D

I generally keep to myself at work, but our offices are being renovated so I'm forced to squat on the shop floor for the next week or two. and mechanics are taking liberties. everyone just wants to talk to me about my pregnancy and it's the last fucking thing I want to talk about, today especially. I'm just so goddamn tired, and I have a dull head ache, and I feel like a beached whale finally. each limb feels like 50lbs. one of the mechanics' daughters is pregnant w/ twins right now, due in 5 weeks. he asked me what my biggest craving has been. I just said, "getting this baby outta me," and walked away. I feel a little bit bad about being so rude w/ him, but fuck, dude..
  • @batmama31 yeah I was venting in the week 3 check in about how tired I am of talking to people about pregnancy. Can we just take a fucking break?

I'm checking some proofs at work at whatever stock they're printed on smells terrible and it's giving me a headache. Not pleased.

  • Oh man.  Yesterday my dayhome was closed because she was sick so I had to stay home from work with the kiddos.  Not that bad, really.  I did get a lot done including deep cleaning the fridge!  But then today I'm back at work after major meltdowns from both girls this morning getting ready, then I had to zip out for my OB appointment where they forgot about me for almost an hour in the waiting room!  I saw the doc for literally 5 minutes and the obligatory "How are you feeling?" conversation.  If you're not going to write me off work, then don't ask!!  I also got my rhogam shot which was good to have over with.  But what should have taken me an hour, including drive time took 2 and a half hours.  My boss said none of this was in my control but it doesn't make me feel like less of a shit employee.
Working full time with 2 kids at home and pregnant is not easy.  I am just frustrated and over it and I know it's only going to get harder.

  • @mermaidca - I have like 4 appoint things I need to do in the next 3 weeks so I am sure my boss is thrilled! So with my DD. I got my Rhogam shot at the office just like a flu vaccine. This time, they sent me to the hospital made me draw blood there, then wait over an hour for the results to send me to a different department where I waited and they gave me the shot and then made me wait 15 minutes before letting me go. Including drive time the whole thing took along 4 hours its was crazy!

@TheSouffleGirl thank you! I’m honestly proud we made it out of our struggle stronger.
@MRDCle I’m embarrassed to say that I rarely miss drama... i give myself about 30 minutes of bmb lurk time before I get up in the mornings 🤷🏻‍♀️
@lyse01 yeah, June was always rough to lurk. Their drama was never “fun” drama, it was always lurkers being genuinely offensive.

I am clearly showing my age, but my 2009 pictures are all from high school. I did a little self-creeping and god... the marching band photos, mirror selfies with flash, and the raccoon eyeliner!!!! So, so terrible.
Also, I just boiled 5 lbs of chicken (was about to expire) and now my entire house smells like chicken. Fully aware I did this to myself, but it smells gross.

OH! Followup on that June drama. I don't know if this is the post you were referencing, but it was one they mentioned in their randoms that got shut down. So I'm in a few twin groups on FB - one focusing on pregnancy - annnnd the lurker went on FB and was complaining about how mean everyone on TB was. Big shocker? She's also a huge AW in the FB group.

  • @batmama31 everyone else had great suggestions so I hope it gets worked out!

@professormama my feed is full of that too. I’d much rather be where I am now versus 10 years ago (aka hot mess).
  • @lilpotatomama - HA 2009 is when I graduated from college!

  • So DH has suggested that we look into getting a bigger apartment before LO arrives. We currently have a lease on our 1 bedroom apartment that doesn’t end until September, but we reached out to our leasing office to see if it would be possible for us to get into a 2 bedroom place before then. I got an unhelpful response originally and was referred to the manager if I had any additional questions so I posed the situation to the manager of our building and he is going to make some inquiries to see if we can make this happen. Just having someone offer to do some more digging makes me feel so much better. Our current place could work for a few months with baby, but a bigger place would just take a lot of extra stress out of our situation (although moving would be a different kind of stress).
  • @batmama31 I was fuming yesterday when I got their response to I sat on it for a day. Then I said to DH “I may have been a little rude in my response” and he said he was expecting for it to be much worse than it was lol. But I’m really happy now that someone is at least trying because I really like this building and love its location (plus super family friendly).

Also that all sounds so delicious! Now I kind of just want some chocolate hostess donuts...
  • @batmama31 you make me laugh today. And I hope my dinner of chocolate chips and six glasses of water lives up to your dinner. (Honestly we planned on something better but 36 hours of wrangling DD and FIL plus a massive lunch from the corner deli - my large steak and cheese grinder had like a pound and a half of shredded steak in it and I ate.it.all. - meant we just wanted to decompress at dinner time.)

@jlklec19 moving into a different apt in the same building is so much easier than cross-town! You just need a few extra hands to box things up in the current apt, DH and someone to shift things via elevator and hand cart, and you to unpack in the new place and send the boxes back for reuse! I hope it works out for you guys.

    @ysotte finally!
  • @lyse01 I just said to DH that if this works out, I’ll be bribing a bunch of our friends with pizza and beer to make it happen haha.
  • DS and DH spent last night puking.  I’m hoping it isn’t contagious.
  • DD was up all night sick. She threw up 7 times over the course of the night (and she hasn't actually thrown up since she was a baby). Poor thing is sore and exhausted today; she's staying with grandma for the day so she can sleep it off.

I had my follow-up appointment this morning regarding the blood pressure issue. The doc started me on labetalol twice daily when I was in triage last week, but my BP kept spiking between doses so they decided to up it to 3 times daily starting today. The good thing is it's still being considered gestational hypertension and not preeclampsia, so I'll take it for now. However, Doc says that gestational hypertension puts me at a higher risk of the baby being growth restricted again. I went through the IUGR thing with DD and am really hoping we don't go down that path again.

We're going to do a growth scan at 28 weeks and then start doing biophysical profiles every 2 weeks starting at 32 weeks, all of which we did with DD so I'm at least in familiar territory. I'm glad that they're being proactive and thorough with all of this, and at the very least I'll have a few extra peeks at my little one before she arrives (silver lining?). For the sake of me being able to prepare mentally for it, Doc did say there's a chance we'll need to induce labor a little early again depending on how the bpp scans and everything go. Again, familiar territory but we're hoping to avoid it if possible.
  • @chrissdee thta all sounds stressful, but I'm glad they seem on top of all the issues! Hopefully DD feels better soon as well.

  • wow! I won't lie, I cringed at that "lying to post on pregnancy boards" comment. I just imagine a crazy lady who maybe is dying to experience pregnancy. not that any kind of lying is excusable... but I am unconventionally sympathetic to the most unsympathizing.
  • mermaidca said:  So, should we start that fb group now??
Sounds like something a catfisher would say!

also, my fave part of the Feb drama is the new poll.
  • @chrissdee Hope she feels better soon and that you don't catch it.
  • @MRDCle you’re the real MVP for catching drama when I miss it! Off to read now.
  • @chrissdee oh man, good luck with all that. I had gestational hypertension and was induced with my first, and it was not super fun. I hope we can both make it to the end this time! I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.

@MRDCle that’s crazy! I usually never read drama threads. But damn. I never understand who would waste their time catfishing like that. This person needs a hobby.

We had a catfish on the O15 board, and it was the saddest thing. *TW even though it is all lies* She took us through a drawn-out and dramatic "miscarriage" in the second trimester, and really wanted a lot of support. However, she also kept claiming that her doctor wouldn't give her a D&C and posted all kinds of crazy things that he said to put her off. We initially thought she just had a nutso doc, but when it stretched into week 5 or 6 and her responses as to why she still had the baby kept getting weirder, some of the regulars dug a little and found out she was inpersonating (with picture, family makeup, location, etc.) a mom blogger who was really freaked out by the whole thing. *end TW* The Admin wound up banning her immediately once it was all revealed, but a lot of people were really invested in her stories and hurt by all her lies.

I would normally have a lot of sympathy for someone clearly THAT in need of help if I were looking in from the outside, but, from the inside, seeing someone mess so much with pregnant women's emotions was NOT okay.
  • Off topic, but is anyone else starting to pine for the days of regular, non maternity clothing? I miss my non-maternity wardrobe sooooo badly.

To compensate, I've been online shopping for clothes that will be good for work / pumping / nursing post-delivery. I think i'm going to buy this dress: https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-jpnese-goweave-ss-wrap-dress-royalblue?collection=dresses
  • @professormama yesss. I miss my regular jeans, my running shoes that don’t fit, my old bras, and ESPECIALLY my old shirts. I had to buy another round of maternity shirts (got a cheap 3 pack on amazon) after realizing that I still have 3 more months to go and can’t live off the same 5 shirts anymore.
  • That's a gorgeous dress @professormama! Yes, I definitely miss non-mat wear. Not a single pair of mat jeans have fit me properly this time and none of the dresses I have are the right length for my height. I basically ALWAYS look frumpy.

@lilpotatomama no one here has struck me as OMG this has gotta be MUD so I'm hoping we're pretty safe too. There were a few in my last BMB where we were all like...can this person's life ACTUALLY be this crazy??
