Re: Group 1 check-in w/o 13 Jan

  • Due date/W+D:  20 weeks today!

    Baby is the size of a(n): mango (although I'm kind of attached to last week's sweet potato - DH have taken to referring to the fetus as a sweet potato)

    Any appointments? Questions?: Anatomy scan is tomorrow.

    Rants/Raves?:  Heartburn / lots of energy, finally!

    How are you feeling?: No complaints at the moment, other than that I'm gaining weight too fast and having heartburn.

    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)?  I've been doing a lot of soups and stews lately, but I can't seem to tolerate tomatoes any more.

    Congrats on 20 weeks @marijaa333!!! Half way there!!!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Due date/W+D: 19.6/5th of June - 20 weeks tomorrow!
    Baby is the size of a(n): four toed hedgehog
    Any appointments? Questions?: Still waiting for my specialist appointment. Actually going to call them as soon as I post this to see how much longer they're going to make me wait.
    Rants/Raves?:  Rant: Why did my specialist want to see me the day after receiving a referral for a cystectomy but now that I'm having complications he's taking forever to get me an appointment! :(Rave: I'm going out for ribs with a few girls from work tonight! I also mustered up the strength to change a leaky tap so I can get people over to wash our 50kg dog! She's so stinky and her dog washer is on their way over now :smiley:
    How are you feeling?: Average. Yesterday was good, today was particularly bad. Just taking it day by day.
    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)? satay chicken or green chicken curry
    ETA: I just called my surgeon's office and they told me they've not even showed my referral to the specialist and I'll just have to come in at my post op appointment. Like, did they not even read the referral saying "since surgery she has had severe nausea and fatigue, and abnormal LFTs. I'm not sure of the cause of this and would appreciate your opinion. She is due to see you in February but I believe she should be reviewed earlier". I'm literally in tears.
    ETA2: My surgeon's office just called me back saying "sorry we were confused about your referral and thought it was just a letter" and have booked me in for Friday which is the earliest appointment they have as he is still on holidays and that is his first day back. Feeling somewhat relieved now.
    Baby is the size of a(n): ping pong paddle (funny side story - my Bf’s daughter found a ping pong ball and attempted to throw it in a cup. I told her nope and she was like but that’s where it’s suppose to go 😂 she’s 3)
    Any appointments? Questions?: January 31st is an extensive ultrasound and the anatomy one. My BF’s siblings have a history of heart problems so we are getting a super extensive one done.
    Rants/Raves?:  Rants - I really hate having placenta previa. I feel like I never have any luck at all. It’s super hard to refrain from sex with my guy because we are just that attracted to each other and well we both love it lol. Raves - I’m finally getting excited about being pregnant. I don’t have any cravings but just being excited is a game changer.
    How are you feeling?: wonderful even though I’m trying to find a job.
    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)? Anything - I don’t have any cravings sadly.
  • Due date/W+D:  20+1 June 3
    Baby is the size of a(n): banana
    Any appointments? Questions?: Anatomy Scan scheduled for Friday. I'm annoyed because I was at my OB a few weeks ago and they told me I would have to do the scan this week but wouldn't give me the number to schedule it or the formal referral. So when they did give it to me, I called right away because it has to be done this week. Sure enough the hospital said, "oh, we are all booked but you have to come this week so we will fit you in." I just KNOW i'm going to be sitting there for over an hour waiting to get in to be seen in what is already long visit. I'm annoyed with my OB that they wouldn't just give me the referral a few weeks ago.
    Rants/Raves?:  See above (Rant);
    How are you feeling?: I feel alright. I got to go swimming over the weekend which was a good way to get some low impact exercise. I'm trying to stay more active in general.
    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)? Well tbh I don't do the cooking in my house, my husband cooks and plans all meals. He likes to cook every part of a meal (like down to making sauces or seasonings that I would just buy in a jar) so I just let him do his thing...but when I'm in a rush I'm queen of making a tuna melt (though less so during pregnancy) but it's so quick and easy!
  • @gta4334 that’s so annoying about the referral for your anatomy scan. Did your OB say why they wouldn’t give it to you? Is it their practice procedure? Hoping you don’t have to sit for hours and hours waiting 😞
  • @wiseh they didn't and I was just kinda rushing out to get back to work so I didn't really question it. But since it's the same hospital I went to with my previous pregnancy and there I had to wait for at least 2 hours before being seen I should have thought to ask. I'm hopeful it won't be so bad, but I'm using it as an excuse to take a half day from work and i'll be sure to bring a good book. (I'm re-reading Little Women, since my husband is stuck on the name Josephine...I'm hoping it will connect me to the name a little more :wink: ). I figure if I go in thinking it will take a long time the best outcome is to be pleasantly surprised.
  • Oh damn I know that feeling, @gta4334. Is there no other imaging place you can go to? If not, your plan sounds pretty solid. I always do that too - prepare for the worst and get pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen!
  • Due date/W+D:  June 5/19 weeks 6 Days
    Baby is the size of a(n): As long as a slice of bacon?
    Any appointments? Questions?: Anatomy Ultrasound is next week!
    Rants/Raves?:  This pregnancy has been super different than my last. I got PUPPS at 17 weeks last time and was hospitalized with an unknown pain at 19 weeks! This time has been a little easier physically, but I've been waaaay more emotional.
    How are you feeling?: At 19 weeks, I feel like it hit me full force. I started showing and automatically started walking differently and having to take more breaks.
    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)? Anything I can put in the slow cooker and have done by the time I get home from work.
  • Due date/W+D: June 3rd/20W +2
    Baby is the size of a(n): Banana, but she's also like 10 oz
    Any appointments? Questions?: I had my anatomy scan last week and I just had an OB appointment. Everything seems to be going really well, so I don't have any questions. My next appointment won't be for about 4 more weeks.
    Rants/Raves?:  Rave - so glad to be done with the worst of my MS!!
    How are you feeling?: Much better. Sometimes I just seem to be really tired out of nowhere. This past weekend I was pretty useless and just laid around most of the time napping. It was wonderful, but also very unproductive.
    GTKY - What is your favorite go-to weeknight meal (stolen from group 4)? Spag-bol (spaghetti bolognese). I usually make a huge batch of sauce and then freeze it into two-night increments. All I have to do is pull it out in the morning and by the time we get home for dinner, it's ready to be heated up and I just cook up some pasta. Yum!
  • Due date/W+D: June 3/20w+2 days
    Baby is the size of a banana..which seems smaller to me than other things on previous day's
    Any appointments? Questions? Have our anamatomy/level 2 perinatal ultrasound in 1 hour. Nervous...they are scanning for any heart defects as I was born with one that was found after birth (eventually cleared up). Decided we will have Dr put the sex in an envelope for gender reveal on the 26th. I've gone back and forth about it but my husband said that's what I originally wanted so stick to it. Regular OB check up next week.
    Rants/Raves: Starting to like being off work for a month, getting a lot of projects done. Now really dreading going back to work once the shutdown ends. DH is saying maybe I should be a SAHM now, but my income is the primary income so there's no way but it's tempting.
    How are you feeling? Great! I've noticed I'm starting to get more winded just walking, but do fine in all my gym classes. Although cycling is getting harder bc I now have the smallest belly in the way. RLS is still bad but that's nothing new.
    GTKY: Go to weeknight dinner- Spinach salad with beans, olives, bacon bits, mozzarella, olives and artichoke hearts (yum!) To start. Followed by chicken breast with homemade pesto sauce with penne pasta.
  • Yay to a great A/S @chrssyms !
    I know how you feel about having time off @tkbmama! I had close to 10 weeks off and it's was an absolute struggle going back. Now that I'm back in the full swing of things though it's good and I'm getting so much done. My boss and I agreed on my list of jobs to do before I go on maternity leave and it's been good ticking those off one by one! Fingers crossed you slide back in as easily once you do go back.
  • @wiseh Thanks, it feels crazy that we're at the halfway mark, doesn't it?
    Sorry to hear you've been getting the runaround by the doctors... Is your specialist also your surgeon, or are there two offices involved in this disorganization? I am glad you have an appointment for Friday!
    @chrssyms I hear you on getting tired out of nowhere!
  • @marijaa333 I know, crazy! Oh how time has flown!!
    I initially wrong specialist but I went back and changed it to surgeon because it's actually the surgeon I'm going back to see (though he is a specialist) and realised I missed a couple of them. Sorry for the confusion! I got a call from his reception today saying the doctor wants me to come in first thing tomorrow morning instead of the afternoon appointment and they were pretty sheepish about it. I don't know how badly my liver has progressed since my bloods on the 9th but when I called my OBs office yesterday saying I wasn't due to see my surgeon until late on Friday and whether I should get more bloods done in the interim he said definitely and ordered a heap more tests. In the interim I've had my dose of Zofran upped to the highest dose to combat this nausea :(
  • @wiseh will be thinking of you tomorrow morning! Sorry that the nausea is not improving. :(
  • Thanks @marijaa333. Unfortunately my surgeon also didn’t know what’s wrong so said to come back in 2 weeks for more bloods. So I guess it’s good it’s nothing imminent and I can step back from every 3-4 days, but a bit annoying I still don’t know what’s wrong 😞
  • @wiseh OMG! I can't believe they still don't know what's going on. I'm sorry you're going through this ☹️
  • @wiseh Not having a diagnosis is really frustrating, but glad to hear he's comfortable not seeing you for two weeks... That's gotta be a good sign. Do you have any other appointments in the meantime, or looking forward to the break? I hope you are at least stable in terms of how you're feeling, and not getting any worse.
  • Thanks @tkbmama and @marijaa333. Yeah it’s annoying but at least not life threatening (the things that go through your head when you’re told to come in every few days for more tests!!). I have my anatomy scan on Monday and then follow up OB on Wednesday so I’m looking forward to that! I’m having good days and bad days with the nausea. It’s so hot here at the moment (Australian summer in Perth is a killer) so I’m just relaxing under the aircon as much as possible trying not to think about things too much.
