Re: Chit Chat & Updates m/o January

  • Oh heyyyyy everyone!!! I haven’t logged in in so long!! I hope everyone is well!!

    @wildrainbow the toddler shared his cold with the baby and it was the worst two weeks ever! If was right before I went back to work too so it really really sucked!!!
    nws
  • @wildrainbow oh man. hope M is doing ok. keeping you both in my thoughts tonight. keep us updated.
  • Loading the player...
  • @wildrainbow oh no! Thinking of you all. Keep us updated. Poor baby and poor mom
  • @hollyeva glad to hear that your family is doing better. really glad that the flu kept itself contained to just your dh and dd2; that must have been tough.

    @ashkee05 hey!! how have you been? how’s lo?
  • Thanks everyone. It's so stressful. He's not sleeping well and I'm worried about his apnea episodes. He does better if he sleeps on me, but with a toddler it's not very feasible. The Dr said to expect it to last 5 days and get progressively worse before it gets better. One thing this has shown me is that I'm fairly certain I have PPA and some PTSD issues from our birth and time in the NICU. I am calling my Dr today to try and get in to talk with him. When he couldn't breathe yesterday, I was right back in the hospital watching him struggle to breathe, hearing the nurses say they weren't sure he'd make it. That certainly isn't a normal response to a baby getting sick. Not to mention my anxiety is at 11. I certainly can't live like that, being hyper viligent is exhausting.
  • huge hugs, @wildrainbow. you’re not wrong stressing about M; you have very good reasons to be vigilant. that being said, you definitely shouldn’t have to stress about being stressed. good idea to talk to your doctor, and I hope he/she can get you back to a better frame of mind. here for you if you need to talk. hope you and M feel better soon.
  • @wildrainbow I've been thinking about you guys. I think you have every reason to feel the way you do and I am glad you are going to follow up with the Dr. I hope they can get you the help you need to feel "right". Huge internet hugs coming your way!

  • @wildrainbow oh no! That is terrible and I’m so sorry you’re going through this! It was terrible how quickly it got worse for Spencer before it got better. I really hope he gets some relief ASAP! I also feel like I’m dealing with a touch of ppd or a, I have an appointment set up myself. Take care of yourself girl!

    @highsteaks we have been good! I’ve beeb back at work since dec 28 and it’s been rough but everyone seems to be adjusting well! This dude is wild, he’s been so different from my other babies! I am just loving him and the baby snuggles as much as I can! I can’t even believe he’s so close to three months! I feel like we just had these babies!! How are you all doing?!!

    nws
  • @ashkee05 he is super adoreable! we’re doing good, too! the twins are shaping up to be fairly easy going so far, and it’s been such a different experience this time.

    @wildrainbow how is M doing? are you getting any rest?

    an update/explanation to the weird friend of sil randomly coming over: what actually was going on was sil’s friend was working a convention in dc, and that’s actually why she was driving up. the timing just happened to work out so that she could see sil and also take her to the airport close by the convention center for sil’s flight later. win all around. and dh did talk to his sister before she got in about helping out as she could. ultimately she made dinner one night, washed dishes every night, held babies and played with dd1 so i could get other stuff done. all in all, i definitely made a bigger deal out of everything than i ought to have.

    after looking at some doctor bills from my pregnancy, the delivery, and the girls’ nicu stay that came in and checking them against the EOBs from insurance, i noticed that there are a bunch of duplicate charges, as well as bills where doctors are charging us more than the in-network contracted amount. i talked to insurance today and thankfully they are going to call everyone on our behalf and make sure these bills are adjusted correctly. it’s a headache! it took me almost three hours a couple nights ago to go through everything we’ve received so far to figure out what is right or wrong. and we’re still waiting to receive a boat load more bills.

    got a date squared away for my tubal operation. not gonna lie—starting to feel sad now that it’s officially getting close. complications and recovery, of course, but also having all the feelings about absolutely no more children. it is certainly the right call for good reasons, but ugghhhhh. anyone else done, too? how are you dealing with it?
  • @highsteaks M is doing ok. No more apnea episodes, which is so great for my anxiety. He's not resting well, though. Last night I got about 3 hrs of sleep.

    AFM: We are done with kids too. H is getting a vasectomy this summer. I am on bc until then. Sometimes I'm sad about it, but then I quickly remember how bad this pregnancy was. We've struggled so hard to have kids, that I am sad about pulling the plug as it were. It's a completely selfish decision on my part because I'm really tired of having losses.
  • @wildrainbow thank goodness the apnea episodes are done. that must have been really terrifying. he’s such a strong little guy.
       not selfish at all, you’re totally justified in deciding to be done imo. you had extraordinarily difficult successful pregnancies, choleostasis both times.
  • @highsteaks Yeah, the cholestasis was a big factor in deciding to be done. It's a whole other level always knowing you will never have a full term baby and never get the opportunity.
  • @wildrainbow I hope M is getting more sleep now and is on the mend. I'm also glad to see you addressing your anxiety- albeit completely understandable given your circumstances!

    I'm pretty sure I'm done having babies too, but am still in the deciding what to do about it column. I'm against IUDs for myself, and I won't do birth control while BFing because I already have low production and don't want to risk making it worse. I hope you heal well!

    @ashkee05 that's one adorable LO! Good to see you back.

    @highsteaks glad to hear about the visit turning out pretty good. I can relate though, it's always strange when you don't have all the information about why folks are visiting and what to expect.

    @offtoneverland how are you doing?
  • @highsteaks Happy 3 months to the girls. How are they doing? Did you get to ent yet?

    edited January 2019
    @wildrainbow thanks!! we did make it to the ent last week, who cut emilia’s tongue tie. i unfortunately got to watch. i felt so guilty. at least her latch is noticeably stronger, and i don’t have to worry about a tie interfering with her speech later :/
        no idea how much they weigh now, as we haven’t been to the pedi in a month. their next appointment is tomorrow, though! they’re filling out their 3m sleepers already, so i’m pretty confident dr will not be dissatisfied with their weight gain.
    just post bath today and zonked out. elise on right, emilia left.

  • @highsteaks Omg, they look adorable! I can't believe you're in 3 month sleepers, M is still in NB. Altho, he will be moving up soon since the NB are starting to get a little short. I'm glad Emilia's latch is better now that you've gotten the tie fixed. Their eyes are so pretty! Are their eyelashes just that long or is it the pic?
  • @offtoneverland Thinking about y'all today with Sydney's u/s. Praying all goes well. Also, she is freaking adorable!

    AFM: M slept for 5.5 hours straight last night, than you, Jesus! Bad news was I woke up in yhe middle of the night with awful cramps. I still have them this morning. They feel like the ones I have had after my lap surgeries,  feel a little gassy, all emcompassing, and very painful. I will mention it to my Dr next week at my appt. I hope it's not my endo roaring back with a vengeance.

    How is everyone else?
  • @offtoneverland glad Sydney is gaining, hopefully all is well and the blood pressure was just a blip.

    @wildrainbow ooohhhh, 5.5 hours! I'm excited about the 3 month mark for that exact reason. Otherwise, it feels like everything's going too fast. It doesn't feel like it's been 6 (almost 7 weeks) since P was born, but here we are. DD2 was going on about when P will be 5 last night, and I'm soooo not ready. I told her let's just enjoy the fact that she's 3 for now.

    @highsteaks OMG the cuteness!!
  • @wildrainbow their eyelashes are pretty long irl too. woohoo that Matthew is sleeping much better! is he letting you put him down during the day some more too? i hope your stomach pain goes away quickly, and certainly hope it’s not more endometriosis back so quickly. will the doc be able to do anything to help?

    @offtoneverland hope the ultrasound went well today. have you heard back with the results yet? and oh goodness, that smiley pic!! she is so cute. thank you for sharing. i love seeing all these pics of our growing bmb babies. my salpingectomy is scheduled for the morning of 2/15.

    emilia has a procedure at the hospital coming up at the end of the month to check on her kidneys, too. i believe they’re doing the contrast dye test to check for reflux, but i could be mistaken and it might be an ultrasound to check on the hydronephrosis and polycystic kidney. i’m admitting i’m not sure what the heck is going on that day; moty here. so much stuff to remember (and obviously am failing at that).

    elise finally has claim to something that needs fixing! the pedi believes she has mild torticollis. no flat spots on her head, thankfully, but she still wants me to contact early intervention to have them come to the house and do some exercises that should help. i received two emails this morning from different people who work with ei, and both said that the other person would call me shortly to set up the visit  :# nobody’s called yet.
  • @highsteaks I am getting an u/s Tues along with talking to him about my anxiety/PTSD. So mind and body check up, lol. At this point I have no idea what's causing it. I don't know if I have cysts again that burst, or adhesions from scar tissue, or if my Endo has come back worse than ever. I just feel bloated and so sore. When I suck in, it feels like everything is pulling in my pelvis. For EI, they have, I want to say, 45 days to contact you after the referral is made. They have to have your assessment set up before your 45 days. Your service coordinator will be the person who handles your case after you get your assessment. There has to be 25% delay, which shouldn't be any issue, and they usually come twice a month for 30 mins to an hour. I highly recommend getting both girls evaluated for any tone issues (muscular tone either to tight or too loose). I'm an expert at EI as ds1 has been receiving services for over a year. M is getting evaluated next month because he can almost roll from back to front, not something he should be doing now. PM me if you need the ins and outs. I'm a self proclaimed expert, lol.
  • @highsteaks Is Emilia getting the MAG3? Sydney has hers on February 6th. It's supposedly a 3 hour ultrasound where the inject contrast dye and watch it run through the kidney, bladder, etc.

    Good luck with your procedure! I hope it goes easily and you recover quickly.

    @wildrainbow please let us know how your appointment goes. I hope you start feeling better.

    Afm-
    Sydney's ultrasound went great. There were no significant changes and her kidney has grown some, which is a great sign. Her blood pressure has gone down too, woo hoo!

    @wildrainbow thank you for all the ei info! and glad to hear you’re getting a mind and body check up.

    @offtoneverland i’m going to call on monday to see what procedure they’re doing for emilia. nobody mentioned it would take three hours, which would be important to know beforehand. i’ll update when i figure it out.

    so, somebody stole my credit card info thursday, then went on a shopping spree for 24 hours until my credit union eventually called me to verify these weird charges. i had to cancel my card and am waiting for a replacement to be snail-mailed to me. the thief used a skimmer reader(?) at the gas pump i unfortunately chose. i hope they get explosive diarrhea. amusingly enough, i think the bank caught it fairly quickly because i coincidentally used my card to make a random purchase at a coffee shop in town while the thief was simultaneously buying stuff at a kohl's 90 miles away. so i guess i should be thankful for being exceptionally exhausted that morning and deciding to treat myself to fancy coffee and a danish.
  • @highsteaks Oh, gosh! I'm glad they caught it, but wow! Let me know if you have any more questions about EI. We are working on our transition to the school system for ds1 since he's about to be three.
  • will do, @wildrainbow. i have no idea how involved this will end up being. the thought of this snowballing into a bunch of appointments is stressing me out. so over appointments!!
  • @highsteaks The good news, if it is a lot with EI, they all take place in your home. They are required by law to come to you.
  • 2 tornados within 12 miles of my house today. One town over suffered significant damage. Now the internet is out, which doesn't sound awful, but it is when your toddler is watching Netflix then proceeds to have the most epic of meltdowns. Thank God for mobile hotspot.

    @wildrainbow wow! i can’t believe you get tornadoes in january.

    carter’s brand sleep & plays at target were $6 yesterday in store.
  • @highsteaks We get tornados any time of the year, they are just more prevalent in the spring. Fun fact(not really): on average, AL typically has the most tornados in the country. In school, we had more tornado drills than fire drills. I'm already working on teaching ds1 what do in case there is one.
  • that’s crazy!
  • that’s crazy!
    Meh. It's life. I like it. Secretly, I would love to be a storm chaser. It would be amazing.
  • @wildrainbow sorry to hear about the epic tornado-related toddler meltdown, I have been there.

    @highsteaks glad your credit Union caught on about the thief, those situations happen in NOVA all the time (I recall you're nearby) so I only use my Capital One card to get gas. They once caught someone using my card to get a very pricey meal in Paris!!!

    @offtoneverland glad to hear about Sydney's ultrasound results!

    Afm: I am looking for my next gig to start in February. I started interviewing last week and Penny's going into daycare February 4th. It's unreal how quickly this time has passed, seems like yesterday I was just starting to post on this board 😄
  • Hey guys! I feel like an a-hole and haven't logged on in FOREVER.  TB has been refusing to load on my phone which is my primary usage.  It sits there with a loading circle foreverrrrrr.  Anyhow; how are you non-fb'ers doing?  How are your LOs?  LO is getting MASSIVE and currently has the croup :(  I went back to work on 1/2 and promptly got sick and then gave it to my poor sweet babe who now has been sick for going on 10 days :'( #worstmommaever. We have a f/u appt this afternoon to check that everything is alright cause her cough is getting worse over time and she's been exposed to both RSV and pneumonia at daycare :neutral:

    @wildrainbow I hope M is feeling better!

  • @hollyeva i didn’t know you were in nova! where-abouts, if you don’t mind sharing?

    @lurvleybunchococonuts hey!! i wonder if the bump is aware of how many people they lose because of website issues. very frustrating. i’m so sorry your lo is sick and i hope the doctor said that she is getting better. keep us updated. other than getting sick, how was the transition back to work? afm—twins are growing great, too. not sure how far back you read, but emilia has got a couple specialist appointments coming up soon to check in on her kidneys, but outwardly she seems normal. also, the two of them have become quite chit chatty and smiley. i missed it, but dh said he caught them laughing at each other this past weekend.

    it was 7 degree this morning, and will still be only 11 degrees when we (twins and i) have to leave the house to pick up dd1 at preschool. burrrrrrrrr.
  • Hi, loves. I had my appt this morning. I have PPD, with a touch of PTSD. Trying a low dose med and check back in with my Dr in a month. So, I'm hopeful I can get back to me soon. M is feeling better, but ds1 woke up snotty and congested. I'm just praying It's because it went from 70 to 30 in less than 12 hours over the weekend. I just can't deal with it if he gets M sick.

    @lurvleybunchococonuts I'm so sorry your sweet girlis sick. I hope she starts getting better soon. I know it's stressful. I mobile bump as well, but I don't use the app. I use my browser and that seems to work way better.

    @hollyeva She's beautiful!

    @highsteaks Have you heard bank from EI?
  • @highsteaks going back to work has been going well aside from having to call out at least once/wk 🤦 first time was for me, then Lula's croup, and now today cause she has an ear infection. She's taking her amoxicillin like a champ though. It's been nice to get some schedule/routine started. I hope E's appt for her kidneys goes well. Awww baby chitchat + smiles are the best!

    @hollyeva what a cutie!

    @wildrainbow :( I'm sorry you're having such a rough time but I'm glad you're working on getting help. I hope everyone in your household feels better soon!!!

    @hollyeva that hair is rockin! my girls are still pretty bald, but it looks like they’re working on some mullets :D you live so close!!! well, probably not really to normal people, but i’m used to driving an hour just to get to civilization, so herndon doesn’t seem far to me at all. cool!

    @wildrainbow fingers crossed that the med helps you feel 100% better.
        i did hear from them this morning, and the first appointment is in a week. how did it go scheduling an ei appointment for M? or is he making progress now?
