Hello!

My TWW is almost over! Go in to test on Thursday!

QOTW: hmm there are a number of things I make that never get old. Chicken piccata or a new simple salmon recipe I make that's salmon, basil, garlic powder, salt, and some lemon juice (although the recipe says a lemon wedge but I never have lemons at home). Delicious! Good thing I'm at lunch now because this conversation makes me hungry!

@chiblackhawkie - here’s to plugging away and hope this is the cycle for you!! Also, I have never tried beer cheese sauce but it sounds amazing!

@inthewoods23 - so, so close to getting tested! How has the TWW been for you? Will be thinking of you on Thursday! Keep us updated! And that salmon recipe sounds delish! (I’m writing this after lunch and am getting hungry again thinking of these foods lol)

@ChristenMA83 -I know you won’t be as active today or the next little bit, but if you’re lurking, good luck with starting the new job and I’m continuing to hope that things progress nicely!

AFM: got a positive OPK last week so just now waiting. Left a message for my RE inquiring about uping my dosage. I’m hoping for the last two cycles I can get a higher dosage just to mix it up a bit.

QOTW: oh, so many to choose from! But probably a Mediterranean pasta dish with a spicy sauce. I used to get it at a local restaurant and then they removed it from their menu, so I would die to have it again!

@sincethelastday strangely this TWW has been going by quickly. I think having off after Christmas when the IUI happened through New year's really helped get a good chunk of it to go by without feeling like it was taking forever. Plus a short work week and I was busy all day Saturday so all of a sudden here we are, 10dpiui.

I haven't been feeling any different on the progesterone suppositories so nothing feels out of the ordinary. I thought I had gained weight from the holidays when I weighed myself last week, but I weighed myself again yesterday and had gained another 3lbs! I guess I do look more bloated than I ever have so I'm guessing it's the progesterone causing the weight gain. Bleh!

@chiblackhawkie it didn't hit me until today, but do you happen to be a hockey fan?

most of my family lives in the Chicago area and I went "hey wait a minute..." when I understood what your username was saying!

I'm officially unexplained RPL with a plan to start progesterone after next O.

QOTW it would have to be meatballs (homemade though). Mmmm my family makes the best meatballs.

AF is due next week. Progesterone will be here Wed. This is all getting very real and wrapping my head around it is hard still. I keep finding myself wondering how we got here. I just never imagined I'd be in this boat (I know none of us ever did). I dunno. It's a lot to process.

@prpl11butterfly its definitely a lot to process and it doesn’t get easier. I try to give myself permission to feel the feelings as they come and then let them go. Sometimes that just means crying a lot.

AFM: CD 5. Skipping the letrozole this month because I will be out of town for work during projected O, but we have an appointment with the RE mid February to talk about the next steps (guessing injectables). Strangely, it makes me feel better to know we will have a plan soon.

And I hear you on the weight gain. I haven't been weighed since before Christmas.. not looking forward to my numbers Friday. Going in for my first US this time around to see how those follicles are growing.

@prpl11butterfly Auntie Anne's is also delicious.. and I feel like those would fall under my meal plan

I hear you on the "it's a lot". Like @PoeMasque mentioned, allow yourself to feel. When it sucks, allow yourself to be sad or mad. It's frustrating. Especially when you get extra hormones added in. Here's to the progesterone helping.

And @PoeMasque happy to hear about a plan in your future. It's something to hold on to.

And I bet there's some seriously delicious beer cheese sauce up in Wisconsin.

@prpl11butterfly - really hope the progesterone works for you! Yeah, as others have said, it can definitely be overwhelming and it’s important to take time for yourself to just feel the emotions. Your comment about never thinking you would find yourself in this boat is totally spot on I find for myself. I spent so long preventing pregnancy which seems crazy now (I want a refund on all the birth control I spent money on lol). And each step of the way I thought I wouldn’t get to that next step only to find myself crossing that step. I hope progesterone is your “last step” in this journey towards a bundle of joy!

@PoeMasque - totally know what you’re talking about with feeling good just knowing that you have a plan. I hope the time flies before your RE appointment. Do you think you would be taking injectables along with Letrozole? I think you had mentioned IUI before, but it sounds like you would be trying this next step first?

AFM: my RE said no about raising my Letrozole dosage. The nurse at the clinic said that my progesterone level was at a really good level, so they don’t think raising the dosage will make a difference. A bit miffed, but I’m happy I at least tried. It’s not much longer until March when we most likely will be meeting with the RE again to talk next steps so I’ll trudge on through until then.

@sincethelastday I'm confused, what does letrozole dosage have to do with progesterone levels? Am I not getting something? I don't get what the nurse means by that

@inthewoods23 - the standard routine at my clinic is to take a blood test during your first round of Letrozole to track the progesterone level (to determine if you ovulated or not with the dosage they start you on). If you get a good progesterone result then they conclude that you’ve ovulated and they will not increase the dosage. So because I had a really good progesterone result, they concluded that I don’t need an increase. Hope that makes sense!

@inthewoods23 - you take a blood test after ovulation (around CD 24) to assess if the Letrozole worked to induce ovulation or not. Progesterone levels peak a week after ovulation. So measuring progesterone levels at this peak time gives the RE a way to assess if ovulation has occurred or not. If you have a high, good progesterone result, then they would assume that you’ve ovulated. And if you’ve ovulated on the dosage they first gave you, then they don’t see a reason to increase it. I’m usually not good at explaining this stuff, so hope this makes more sense.

@sincethelastday - Bummer about the medicine.. I hear you on the frustration. After waiting so long to get help, and then wait more while on a treatment you don't think will work..

My DH wants to go on to the next step if this cycle doesn't work. I'm pretty sure our RE will want us to try Clomid + Trigger + TI one more time though. US tomorrow.

@inthewoods23 very sorry to hear. Hopefully you're able to give yourself some self love and snuggle up with a blanket and binge watch/read something. Fingers crossed for your next round.

I had my first US this cycle - sounds like things are developing but they want me to come in for another US to get the follicles to what size they need to be.

Thinking more and more about telling my doctor after this round I want to move onto the next treatment (IUI). If I'm spending money, then I want to feel more comfortable with and confident in my treatment.

@inthewoods23 - very sorry as well that the IUI didn’t work out this time!! How very disappointing I’m sure! I echo what’s been said and hope you go easy on yourself and do what you need to get through the next little while.

@chiblackhawkie - yeah, I was quite frustrated about a month ago about doing more than a couple rounds of Leterzole as I haven’t had high hopes with it to begin with, but now March doesn’t seem that far away and part of me is okay just going through the motions with this drug before heading into other treatment territory. This doesn’t make sense at all, but I feel with each negative round of this drug, I feel more justified with saying I have infertility and I think friends and family are somewhat taking our diagnosis more seriously now that we’ve failed rounds of Leterzole.

I hope you won’t have to head into IUI territory and that this cycle works! Totally get where you’re coming from with the whole spending money piece and wanting to feel pore confident in your treatment plan.

@chiblackhawkie good luck deciding where to go with the next treatment.

AFM: the new job is going well. Im working for a boss I worked for at a previous company so he's dumping plenty on me dont away which had me support busy, but i'm loving it.

After 5 beta tests our numbers have continued to rise very slowly with 22dp5dt coming in at 946 (it was over 5k at this point in oooor first successful FET). We have our first ultrasound scheduled for friday the 18th with our RE. Hoping this will give us a clear answer on viability. It'll be 7 weeks 1 day so we should be able to hear a heartbeat if everything is ok. When the nurse practitioner called though to schedule the appointment I could tell she was nervous something is wrong... actually she came out and said it. Usually she would do this ultrasound but wanted to make sure we scheduled with the doctor.

@ChristenMA83 - I can’t imagine how nerve wracking and stressful this time must be for you and YH right now. Especially with being able to compare with your first successful FET. How are you feeling right now? I’m hoping and praying that your beta will continue to rise and that everything will be okay at your US on Friday. Hope this next week will be full of peaceful, restful moments for you as you approach Friday. Will be thinking of you!

@sincethelastday I'm feeling ok. The new job is keeping me busy and distracted. We're trying to ignore the enormous uncertainty hanging over our heads as much as possible. Hoping for the best and preparing ourselves for the worst.
