Anyone else going to purchase the DNA genetic gender test "Sneak Peek"? After
checking it out and reading reviews, I'm a little skeptical. We wanted to
know the gender ASAP so that we can call baby their name so we are giving it a try.
The lab has received my sample and we should know the results by 8pm tonight!
The
claim is that it's 99% accurate. Just wondering whether anyone
else has an experience to share positive or negative.
I've heard mixed reviews. My dr said that she has seen 100% success with her patients. But the reviews online are mixed. Guess you better go with a gender neutral name.. Nicky, Taylor, Devin..
I also did the sneak peek test! got my results back today! It’s a boy! I didn’t use It for my first pregnancy so we will see if it is true at the anatomy scan!
Interesting: the science is the same as the NIPT tests you do at a lab. It looks at the tiny bit of fetal DNA that’s floating around in the mother’s blood. But the way the write-up describes it, there’s no “not enough fetal dna” result. So I’d expect if it comes back with a male result it’s accurate, but a female result is really just “no Y chromosome detected” which could be because it’s not there, or it’s not detected.
*lurking* i heard there is a law suite going on because many got incorrect results. I’d check on that before spending your money. Or check with your doc and in insurance if they cover. Some places can still charge as little as 100 even when it’s doctor ordered. Or just wait for the anatomy scan and save your money.
Update: My results came back baby girl! I really felt like I was having a boy before recieveing these results so we will see. I will update after the anatomy scan confirms.
On a positive note if the test is incorrect they will 100% refund your money! The class action law suit is from the older version of the test. The company changed the way blood is contained and sent back to them.
This isn’t really my soapbox to stand on, but I was educated myself on TB about the difference between gender and sex. We will be able to find out the sex of our children through u/s or NIPT/cfDNA. Gender will take years to emerge. Yes, I know a lot of doctors still use the term gender but it is incorrect.
"Sex refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women. Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women."
If you don’t like the terminology used, keep scrolling. This is a fun post for everyone to discuss the sneak peek test. If you would like to discuss the politics between gender and sex start your own discussion. Thank you.

First, that’s not how the Interwez works. You cannot control the responses to your post. No TOU was violated. Second, no one took the fun out of your post. I was just sharing the information I learned as a member of TB community. I appreciated that knowledge and am sure I’m not the only Bump user who has. Finally, I’m not interested in discussing the politics between gender and sex. Defining the difference is not political, it’s just a fact.

Now that the tone of this has totally changed, can we please acknowledge how this could have gone in randoms or weekly questions, and in no way justified its own SS thread!?
Aren’t we all here to support each other? It seems some are so caddy.. if you don’t like that someone hasn’t “introduced themselves” or has started a new thread that you feel should go somewhere else then keep scrolling. I appreciated the member who posted this and personally I don’t go looking through the “randoms” thread. Thats all.
@oregonmommy-2 Yes we're here to support each other. This is the most supportive online community I've been part of. But support should be two-way. You give AND receive support. These one-off posts are usually people only looking for support and never giving back. A lot of the times they don't even come back to see the replies. Also, if everyone posted AW posts, the posts from the regulars who support each other would get buried and nobody would be able to find anything. I hope now you understand why she got the reaction she did.

Lol @spottedginger it isn't tldr: it's one post and two replies on her own post...that's all OP has contributed to the bump, and to S18...and one of those replies was micromanaging how people should reply to her post.

I resent the implication that I carry golf clubs for people. I've never even been on a golf course! Not one time!

Unless things have changed, this is not a support group. Yes, there is wonderful support to be realized but as PP mentioned, you have to give support to get it.

They actually do tell you if there’s not enough fetal DNA in your sample. I took it at exactly 9 weeks and it says girl, so we’ll see if that matches at my anatomy ultrasound.
