Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO: Friday 12/28

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Re: WTO: Friday 12/28

  • Hopefully I'm not stepping on toes starting the WTO and TWW threads.

    Month/Cycle: 3/2

    CD: 9

WAYDTGKU: PNVs, OPKs, BBT, FF and SMEP

R/R: so glad its Friday! Having dinner with my family tonight for my SILs birthday.

CS/Q: so I already messed SMEP up lol, we BD on CD7 and planned to again last night on CD8 but we had unexpected company arrive. Should we just keep going EOD (7,9,11, etc) or should we skip tonight CD9 and pick back up tomorrow on CD10? Does it matter? Also making an attempt at CP and CM this month, but I'm already unsure about it lol.

  • Loading the player...
  • @kimmer1412 hmmm I’m not sure it matters too much. I would just keep doing EOD till your positive OPK. I assume “they” have it start on CD8 since 14 is the average O. Have fun tonight at dinner!

    Month/Cycle: 14/15

    CD: 12

WAYDTGKU: OPKs, CM, BBT, RLT, clomid

R/R: DH made me so angry in the car last night that I didn’t speak for the last 150 miles of our drive. If you couldn’t tell I also had a really bad day yesterday. Rant in spoiler
we were chatting and as usual ended up on the subject of TTC. I told him my concerns about the clomid & CM and made an offhand comment about how TTC is stupid and makes me want to give up sometimes because it’s so frustrating. He then raised his voice and told me to stop it, that other people try way longer and have all these issues etc. To me that was basically a STFU you’re not allowed to be frustrated because we haven’t been trying as long as other people. Like ok I know that others have it way worse...but I’m still allowed to be sad / frustrated / whatever? When he finally asked if something was wrong once we got home, he said he didn’t mean it that way, but he didn’t want to agree with me either because I’m negative about it (guilty). Idk, we were definitely both in the wrong. I just already feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it IRL and now I definitely don’t feel like I can talk to him either.
Rave- TGIF! This has been a long week. I’m not going to be working a full day because I’m already sacrificing my PTO day to log on for work, so I’m pumped for a shorter day and may treat myself to a birthday shopping spree at the Loft later with my Christmas gift cards.

CS/Q: not much different than yesterday haha
  • Month/Cycle: 25/benched

    CD: 10

    WAYDTGKU: testing, metformin, bbt

R/R: my brother is leaving today. Kind of looking forward to having things back to normal, but we had a nice visit. Also found out my mil and sil will be visiting sometime in March. Kind of surprised and will be shocked if they actually follow through. They have never made an effort to come to us. My mil always asks when we will be going to them when we talk.

CS/Q: not really exciting. Vaginal temping is the way to go though. I did the chart overlay and it looks so much better than my previous charts.

  • @kbrown2385 glad you had a nice visit with your brother. I get what you mean about wanting to get back to the regular routine, though.
@b_1029 I am so sorry you had a bad day and that your H tried to shut you down.  You are going to feel the way you feel and you are allowed those feelings. Nobody wants to go through these ups and downs. I don't think it's possible to have a positive attitude about it 24/7.
@kimmer1412 don't worry too much about the SMEP timing at the very beginning.  I think it's more important to keep it up when you get a + OPK.
Month/Cycle: 6/6 (benched until next cycle)

    CD: 11

WAYDTGKU: Prenatal vitamins, Fertility Friend, HIO, SMEP, OPKs, temping, red raspberry leaf tea.

R/R: My friend and I are going to tea this afternoon. It's a little tradition we started last year. We treat each other to tea for our birthdays (mine was last week).  It will be nice to get out of the house and go somewhere quiet and relaxing.

    CS/Q: Nope.
  • @kbrown2385 I know right? I can't believe how terrible my oral charts looked. It will be good to have your house back to normal. Hopefully your MIL does come to visit? (Or hopefully she doesn't if we don't like her  :D )

@b_1029 Husbands are hard. I won't say they don't have skin in the game, they do, but it's suuuuuuch a different perspective to them. My DH pretty much just pretends it isn't happening and just doesn't respond at all when I have frustrations. I know they care, but they don't feel the crushing responsibility that we do to start our families. I try to explain it in way DH can understand but when I put it into context that he can relate to (usually has something to do with racing cars since that's what he does for a living) he claims us TTC is nothing like that. Sigh. TTGP is a hard thing to discuss unless you've got a close girlfriend who has struggled too. And even harder when she gets KU and leaves you behind in the dust. I'm sorry you're struggling. I'm hoping this is the best quality O you've ever had!!  :):)

@kimmer1412 I think you're okay to stick with either of the suggestions you came up with.

*huge sign of relief*  I can finally say I go here now.  Someone please let me know if I'm doing this correctly.

Month/Cycle: 6/3, I think?  See question in spoiler below.

WAYDTGKU: OPKs, FF, prenatals, and starting charting again this cycle

CS/Q: Just the question in the spoiler below.

    **TW
I got the green light to start trying again as soon as I felt ready after my 11/16 MMC.  Today marks 6 weeks and I finally got my period after feeling like I was getting it for several days.  I never got a full positive OPK, but we were NTNP, so I wasn't tracking super seriously.  Can someone explain to me how the month/cycle part works when you had a MC in there?  We've been trying since July, got a BFP in September, then MMC in November.  So I think technically that means I'm on month 6, but only cycle 3?  Yes?  HALP!

  • Hi :) First time posting outside the newbie intro. Yay.

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD: 13

WAYDTGKU: OPKs, BBT, CM, CP, Prenatals, FF

R/R: Rant: I am so tired. We have been non-stop with our home renovations plus we hosted Christmas. Last night DH's family stopped by right after I got home at 7:30 and I didn't get to eat until 9 because they Just Kept Talking. Rave: It's Friday! I get to leave work a little early and I'm excited to do a bit of relaxing tonight. Hopefully no drop ins?   ;)

    CS/Q:

I have been all over with times on my temps because of the holiday. My schedule is a mess.

  • Month/Cycle: 13

    CD: 14

    WAYDTGKU: CM, FF, CP, Progesterone

R/R: Rant: I've started the panic mode where I'm counting down days until I have to go back to work
Rave: Saw Aquaman last night on a whim date night and it was a lovely time. Also, I'm planning a spa day on Monday that I'm very excited about. Boy do I need a massage!

CS/Q: Ok can we talk about EWCM? What consistency should it be? I had some yesterday that was definitely clear and definitely stretchy but was dense in consistency. Almost gel like? Is that normal?
  • @nomangos23 @kiki047 it’s definitely a good thing she is making an effort. We get along but it’s been 10 years of her constantly telling us we need to make a trip to her. We do go when we can but it’s not like we have all the time (or money) to do that.

@kiki047 wedding dress shopping is so exciting! Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the visit with your BFF!

@cmdesigner welcome! Here’s hoping to a nice, guest free weekend!

@shamrocandroll that sounds right for the month/cycle explanation. I honestly have no idea though and will probably be restarting from 1 because I’ve lost track at this point.

@emeraldduchess an afternoon at tea sounds so nice and relaxing! Enjoy!

@b_1029 hope work flies by for you today! Sorry dh reacted like that. Your feelings are most certainly valid and nothing you should have to feel guilty for.

  • *lurking*

@kiki047 I hate that you’re back in wto. Hopefully you’ll get to say yes to the dress tomorrow!!! Where are you going? What style are you into? Can you post a few of your favs? OMG HAVE SO MUCH FUN WITH YOUR MOH/BFF!! Also, when you come visit Palm Springs this spring come take a trip out to the beach and we can go to my favorite (and only) tea house here in SoCal.

@emeraldduchess Enjoy your tea date! Do they serve scones there? And clotted cream/jam? That is one of the things I miss most about living in England. They “get” my tea addiction.

@nomangos23 Who are you? Lol, jk. Your pup is *almost* as cute as you are.

@b_1029 Dudes just don’t get it, even though YH seems to get it more than most guys. As always, I am here if you need to talk. If you lived closer we could talk IRL over tea. Why don’t you move closer to me?!? 🤣 It doesn’t snow here!
  • @kbrown2385 YES to vaginal temping! I didn't even think my oral temping charts were that bad until I compared the two, hah. I'm glad you had fun with your brother!

@emeraldduchess thank you <3 Tea with your friend sounds so fun! I hope you have a great time.

@nomangos23 thank you! He typically doesn't respond either when I'm frustrated. Maybe that's why it made me so mad? I'm so glad we all have each other to relate to because as you said, as much as guys try, they don't understand the pressure. Your spa day sounds awesome and well deserved! I'm not sure on your EWCM question. I think I've gotten that type before but couldn't tell you if it's normal or not. So tired of trying to analyze my CM!!!

@shamrocandroll I wish I could help with your question. I'm glad you were able to move to your next cycle, though!

@cmdesigner welcome! Sounds like a stressful week...hope you are able to rest tonight!

@kiki047 I'm so sorry you're back here and for all the new nephew stuff I've been seeing you post. That has to hurt so much, especially right now. Sending you hugs! I hope you have a blast with your MOH and find the perfect dress tomorrow!! So exciting!

@lillywonderland trust me, I would love to move out there! ha! I'm not sure where in CA you live, but I'm going to San Diego in January, meet me for tea then?  :D
  • @kimmer1412 I agree with b_1029, just keep going every other. It's pretty much the same thing you're just getting a jump start a day early!

@b_1029 I'm sorry about your fight with DH. That is the worst feeling especially stuck in a car! You definitely get to be frustrated and it doesn't mean you're negative or that you were in the wrong. You were frustrated! If you're negative 100% of the time that's one thing. But everyone deserves an outlet to rant when you're frustrated. I'm sorry it ended up that way :(

@emeraldduchess I love that tea idea! I just might have to steal it :)

@shamrocandroll I am so sorry for your loss. I think you're right about the way you calculated the months/cycles. I hope your stay here is short <3

@cmdesigner Welcome! I hope you get some good R&R!

@nomangos23 I think the stretch factor is really all that matters. Color and consistency can vary. I guess I'm a little confused thought because it's hard to picture a gel consistency as stretchy. In my experience it's more of a snot feel, but, hey, if it stretches, I think you're good!

    R/R: *TW*  CP Mentioned
I finally feel like the crazy is subsiding a bit. I had a CP last month and it wrecked my brain and my heart. I came back here for a day and then decided to relax for the next cycle and try to regain some stability to I stayed off the the boards. But instead I just had ANOTHER CP so then I was super wrecked. But it's been almost a week now and I'm resolving to NOT test this month and just wait for AF. I'm resolving to not stress this month and NOT SS. I'm resolving to use these boards as a place of healthy support and not as a crutch when I'm feeling the "craze" and SSing.
CS/Q: I'm only CD6 so not enough to post my chart yet. I forgot to charge and/or wear my Ava bracelet for the first time and then the second time for CDs 2 and 3. I suppose if I were to ever forget  at all - the first few days of the cycle would be best?

  • @kiki047 so sorry to see you back here. :( Yes, the tea place has the little sandwiches and cookies.  It's actually pretty laid back, though.  You don't have to dress up, wear a fascinator (although some people do!), or put your pinkie in the air.  ;)  Have the BEST time shopping for your gown with your MOH.  Try on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, even if you don't think you'll like it.  I actually hated my dress on the hanger/in the catalogue picture but once I tried it on, I knew that was it.
@lillywonderland they absolutely have scones, jam, and clotted cream!  They have a different scone, sandwich, and dessert each month, so you can never get tired of the food.  The scone for December is eggnog!  The tea menu is also like 5 pages long.  :o
  • @lillywonderland whyyyyyyy do we seem to have a perfectly inverted cycle relationship. :'(  But yes, tea in Palm Springs sounds perfect. Meet you there. Maybe I should coordinate with B_1029 in January!
@SA0012 I am so, so sorry for your losses. While it is nice to see you again, I wish it wasn't under these circumstances. // I don't temp through AF so I would think it's ok if you don't have the Ava data either.
@klstone25 there are a few special circumstances were AF is welcome, and this is one of them. Glad to have you join us. Hope you're feeling better soon!
@b_1029 thank you <3<3 I wish it wasn't such a kick in the gut. The timing is just crummy. I'll put the rest in a spoiler because of the *TW*
Honestly at this point I'm kinda looking forward to him being old enough for them to leave him alone with us to babysit because part of me just wants to snuggle him and cry it out without a million people around commenting on what naturals we are with the baby and how it'll be our turn "so soon". We love him, we just wish it wasn't so triggering right now. Neither one of us can stand to see the other with the baby. Doesn't help that I'm just so damn weepy these days.

  • @sa0012 I'm sorry for your loss :( Yes, CP can drive you nuts. Literally crazy. Like the craziest I've ever been was after my 3rd loss. Then I took 5 months off but still participated in the board and guess what? I'm less crazy but can not say I'm completely normal again. lol. There's an AWESOME TTC after loss board on here if you haven't found it already. Whatever you're feeling, someone on the board can relate. It's been a saving grace for me to be honest. Sending love  <3

@kiki047 Sorry for CD 1 :( I am SO EXCITED your MOH is coming and you're trying on wedding dresses! Might I suggest a bodice and skirt option in case you get KU?? :D:D And yes, I suggest staying salty at your MIL b/c KIKI STILL LIVES WHEN THERES A BABY OK?! Also, from yesterday, your escape room sounds absolutely incredible! Who knew you were the superwoman of Xmas parties? I hadn't even considered something like that but it sounds like everyone had a blast! I'll have you pick your brain on how you set it up! I am sooooo curious!

@shamrocandroll Hi! Welcome! The month/cycle part isn't really that important, it just gives fellow readers an idea of how long you've been trying. I've had a few losses too, so I just put in the # of cycles I have charted or was trying to get pregnant. If you started trying in Sept, got a BFPP and had a loss and just got your period, I'd say you have been trying for 2 months now. Hope thats helpful!

Also, I'm toying with the idea of going sugar free in January. And when I say sugar free I mean refined sugar, not anything crazy like the Whole 30 (which I did once and last F O U R days on). Anyone does it? Noticed differences in your body? Worth trying? Give me all the scoop!!
  • Lurking

@b_1029, I'm so sorry about your convo with H. It sucks so much when the one person we really need to "get it" in that moment, just.... doesn't. Hugs.

@kiki047, I'm so sorry for CD1. Good luck wedding dress shopping tomorrow!

    @nomangos23, cute new photo!!

@SA0012, I'm so very sorry for your back to back losses. I hope you are able to stick to your resolutions and you get the support you need from here. Hugs.
  • @nomangos23 Thanks!  That's very helpful.  So I guess this is our 4th cycle of trying since we started 6 months ago, in that case.

@kiki047 LET’S DO IT! Haha! Sounds like we could all use the vacation!

@SA1112 I’m so sorry to see you back here and to hear what has been going on with you. How are you liking the Ava bracelet so far? I would agree that it’s the best time to forget it haha. I never temp during AF anyway.

    @klstone25 welcome! 🤗

@nomangos23 I was thinking of cutting out refined sugar too! I felt great while on Whole30 but who knows if it was the sugar or not. will be interested to see responses. In any case, I’ll do it with you! (She says as she eats a banana chocolate chip muffin)
  • @nomangos23 that's one cute pup in your new pic!!  I've never tried going completely sugar free (I always like to sweeten my tea and I need my few pieces of dark chocolate each day), but I have tried cutting down in the past.  I felt like I had a little more energy but I don't think I cut out enough to feel a major difference.  I might try again after the new year.  It's always a good resolution to stay out of the chocolate drawer at school.  (Yes, the school receptionist keeps a drawer filled with chocolate!)

@SA0012 I am so sorry for your losses. I  second what @nomangos23 said, the ladies over on the TTC after a loss board are amazing and they welcomed me with open arms.  Sending you hugs.
  • Thank you to everyone for the support. And thank you @kiki047 for the suggestion that I don't need to temp after Oing. I just started temping when I got the Ava bracelet a few months ago and it hadn't even occurred to me to do that. But I think I will stop after I get my CH and that should be a big help. THANK YOU!

CS/Q: Just curious to see what comes of the blood work. I am hoping it's low so I don't have to do a repeat draw and can just move on to the next FW with positivity and hopefulness.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome, all!

@kiki047 I feel the reno hell in a real way. On top of the kitchen every room was painted terrible oranges, reds, spongebob yellow, and then randomly what I have been calling a “violently bright aqua.” In just glad (most of) those colors are gone now.

@cmdesigner I totally feel you on the crazy colored house. When DH and I bought our townhome in 2013, we nicknamed it the "Crayola" house because e.v.e.r.y. single room was a freaking different color. Like bright colors. The kitchen was two bright blues, the living room was purple with orange and yellow, the master was the same ugly blues, the spare bedroom was the orange and yellow again, plus the ugliest black and white floral wallpaper in the vanity area that took days to remove... We decided to paint everything ourselves and with those bright colors, it literally took FOREVER. Next time, I'm hiring a painter.

@b_1029 I’m sorry you all had that argument & that you feel like you can’t talk to YH now about stuff. That sucks. I hope you can work through it so you will still have him to lean on. You definitely need someone to commiserate with along this journey!!Being an eternal optimist myself (which I know can be super annoying), I’m wondering if he’s one of those who always tries to look on the bright side or find the silver lining? Maybe that influenced his response to you? MH & I have fights like yours because he always problem-solves for what might go wrong before any situation even happens & then I get upset because I try to give zero energy to those types of thoughts. I’m realistic but I always expect the best outcome in every situation & I interpret his statements as focusing on the negative, so it leads to arguments because we take different approaches to everything. Not sure if this even makes sense...

@nomangos23 I get that type of CM every month. I looked it up earlier today & other women refer to it “like a mucus plug that gets released” in the days before the cervix gets ready to lift & open for ovulation. My cycle timing of this type of CM matches their description perfectly. Hope this helps.

@shamrocandroll You asked the same question I always have in my head about how to report out month/cycle. I use the same method you originally posted because, in my mind, that’s how long we’ve been trying for a take-home baby. We started trying in earnest in June, so I count from there despite our success & then loss.

@all the peeps enjoying tea, it sounds lovely! (I always have a hard time keeping track of tags from my phone, any tips are appreciated!)

    Month/Cycle: 7/4

    CD: 11

WAYDTGKU: Started SMEPing on CD9. Temping, FertilityFriend, reading & re-reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility & It Starts With the Egg—obsessing, basically.  PNVs, extra Folate, DHA/Fish Oil, Baby aspirin, Fertility mix of NAC, CoQ10, Vit D3, Vitex, Maca, & DHEA.

R/R: Rave—DH is suddenly super on board w what it takes to make a baby. He is helping a ton around the house, wants me to relax more & avoid stress, he is taking his supplements, & this week said he really wants to try SMEPing it out lol. (Granted, these positive changes came after a huge fight where I said it seemed like he didn’t care at all about anything.) I’m afraid that SMEP might wear him out before we hit the most fertile days.

CS/Q: Almost have a decent chart to share...
  • @sevenn I had a black tea that was flavored with chocolate and hazelnut.  It was a bit like Nutella!  They also had cranberry pistachio scones which were heaven. I am now looking at pistachio scone recipes on Pinterest.  :D
@keikilove that's great that your DH has jumped on board.  Mine definitely got a wakeup call when he realized how much effort was required on my part besides sex (temping, using OPKs) and stepped it up.  Hope the positive changes stick!
  • @keikilove no, that totally makes sense! Teach me your optimistic ways (DH is the same), I’m an eternal pessimist no matter how hard I try!
  • @emeraldduch Thanks! You’re right, I never even thought about how much effort it takes on our part for those little daily habits.

Your scones & tea sound amazing!! Wish I’d done high tea when I lived in a
big city where it was available. Sigh.

@b_1029 I'm glad that came across the right way and didn't add to your irritation! Hoping you all are having a wonderful time on your birthday weekend. :-) Honestly, I think we are born with our predispositions toward our outlooks, but can always consciously move more in one direction or another.  I try to see it from my husband's perspective, like looking for the "worst that could happen" is actually helping us be the most prepared for whatever comes our way.  That helps me turn what I see as 'negativity thinking' into "preparedness planning', and something useful. Also, I ask him to imagine from my perspective "what if nothing goes wrong" in a given situation and we just get to enjoy? Ah, compromise compromise.
