Re: TTC Check-In 12/24/18

  • Merry Christmas Eve!

QOTW: What's the craziest gift you ever received for Christmas, birthday, etc.?
I would say the craziest was unexpectedly getting an iPad from my parents. Never asked for it so I was so shocked when I opened it!

I had my 2nd US this morning and I now have 1 growing follicle. Looks like the 2nd one stopped growing around the 12/13mm size from my 1st US. The 1 follicle isn't quite big enough so my trigger will be taken tomorrow instead of today and the IUI will take place on Thursday morning.

Hope everyone else is doing well and have a happy holiday!

  • QOTW: one birthday I came home from swing shift at 2am to find a T-shirt with a picture of my cat on it in the entry way with a card from my husband. Best (and oddest) gift I’ve ever received!

@inthewoods23 good luck with the IUI! Sometimes follicles can randomly and quickly perk up and get back in the game :)

AFM: seemed to have a more normal OPK progression this time around. Had very clear O pains Saturday and we did all the BD, so now it’s just wait and see. Honestly though I’m feeling pretty negative, all the people I know that had success with just letrozole or clomid got KU the first or second month, we are on month 3. Dreading what the next steps would be.....shots and monitoring and IUI, just wishing our bodies would work how they are supposed to :(

  • @inthewoods23 good luck with IUI tomorrow!
@PoeMasque I hope this cycle ends better than you expect.  I understand the feeling of hopelessness though.

AFM: I put in my two week notice at work Friday (after 6 years) so I'll be starting a new job Jan 7.  I'm super excited about the move.
On the TTC front I'm 8DP5DT.  At this point last transfer cycle my trigger had clearly  tested out.  This morning I'm still getting a faint positive.  So...I'm hopeful for a good beta Friday morning

  • @ChristenMA83 - oh, so hoping for a good first beta on Friday! All fingers crossed for you!

@inthewoods23 - good luck at your IUI tomorrow! I hope it all goes smoothly and isn’t too overwhelming of a day tomorrow!

@PoeMasque - I feel like I’m in a very similar mindset as you right now. I’m on my third round of Letrozole now and am not feeling hugely optimistic just because it hasn’t worked so far. But at the same time I’m not looking forward to moving to the next step of treatment as I think it will feel more real than it already does, this infertility thing. I’m really hoping we both find success on this drug! I’m happy to hear that you had a more regular type of OPK process this time around.

QOTW: The craziest gift that comes to mind was one of my old Tupperware containers that my in-laws kept forgetting to return to me. They wrapped it in a big box and tissue paper. So sort of a “re-gift.” Lol.

AFM: I got my period last week and today is my last day of taking Letrozole before starting OPKs. I wasn’t actually that crushed this time around as I hadn’t had high hopes this cycle. Of course with Christmas there are always pregnancy announcements coming out of the wood work like no tomorrow so that always sucks. I am thinking of asking my RE if I could have a higher dosage for the last couple of rounds (I’m only on 2.5 mg) just to change up the last couple of times I’ll be taking this drug.
  • @sincethelastday do you ovulate on your own? I'm on (or did) 5mg of letrozole this cycle and as far as I can tell I ovulate no problem. Not sure what the deciding factor is for how much letrozole you should take a day, but wouldn't hurt to ask to up your dosage

  • Hi all,
Been MIA for a while. Had a good Christmas overall. Have t got many odd gifts so I can’t really think of anything at the moment? Wishing all good luck this week. DH and I have our first appointment with the RE on Friday. We have been waiting 3 months to see him. I am excited and nervous at the same time. They wanted us to wait on starting testing until our appointment so I am ready to figure out what’s going on and hope we get some answers. Hoping I can at least get an ultrasound or HSG in the works. Not sure what to expect! They sent us like a 200 page packet so guess that is a good start!
  • @inthewoods23 - yes, I do ovulate on my own. From what my RE told us, they start at 2.5 mg and then increase it if you don’t ovulate on that dosage. However, it was actually my pharmacist who suggested asking about uping the dosage as the first two rounds didn’t work. Worth a try at least!

@kls2016 - welcome back! Hope your first RE appointment goes well on Friday! And that you don’t have to wait long to get your HSG, ultrasound, etc done. I hope you get some answers soon!
  • IUI #1 is in the books. They spent the longest time trying to get the catheter through my cervix but apparently it was at an angle causing difficulties. If I had to guess, it's probably similar to trying to put an earring in when you haven't been wearing one for a while and you can't find the back of the piercing hole.

But they have some kind of tool that can be used to pull on the cervix and that helped straighten it out and got it right in after that. DH actually asked if that could be a possible cause of the IF and the RN said maybe. I mean, if there isn't a clear shot through the cervix that would make a lot of sense!

Anyway, I go in for a blood pregnancy test and progesterone test on the 10th. FX!

@sincethelastday thanks for checking in on me.  Results in spoiler.
For 10 day past transfer, HCG=41 and progesterone =17.  HCG is on the low side so I'm really worried this will be a CP.  We have another test Monday, so we'll know more late Monday afternoon.  So cautiously optimistic at this point....more just cautious really.

  • @ChristenMA83 - will be thinking of you! Hope you’re pleasantly surprised with great numbers!
  • @ChristenMA83 10dpt is early for a beta, so 41 sounds fine! My coworker and I did IVF at the same time (literally one hour apart on transfer day!) and we had betas on the same day (14dpt), *TW* mine was 190 and hers was only 24. Our sons both turned one last month, so 41 doesn’t sound low at all for 10dpt *end TW*

i also was an ER nurse and we had a rule: HCG below 10, not pregnant, HCG over 10, pregnant. You are well above 10 :) 👍
