Upcoming Appointments: Check-up today. The PA got impatient with the Doppler and pulled out the US. Baby girl was just chilling; good heartbeat and looking fine. On the negative side, I'm down 15 lbs from my last visit just under a month ago. Next up is the anatomy scan at ~20 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Nausea is all but gone. Feeling relatively symptom-free for now.
Rants/Raves: Headed to Florida in a couple days and so ready for it. It is freezing and raining here, and work sucks.
Questions: No
GTKY: Are you done Christmas or Holiday Shopping? Have not started. That's on the agenda for today. Small family, so thankfully not too many people to buy for.
@literatureandink, Christmas eve. So soon! I know I'm jumping the gun on the standard 14 weeks just a bit, but after seeing a heartbeat at 12+3, I'm okay with it.
Yayyyyyyyyy @hoodevil0611 - I'm so happy you're announcing!! We're toying around with Christmas Eve but then also we're like "What if we announce and then get not good NIPT news.." I'm a worrier but also I'm so damn excited!! How are you planning on doing the announcement?
@literatureandink, stocking announcement. Our last name is an animal, and I found a stocking with a baby version of the animal on it and had "Baby _ Summer 19" embroidered on it. I think it's super cute, and that I was able to find in was the deciding factor in announcing early.
I would love to make a cute Christmas announcement, but my last loss milestone is 12W6D. I want to get past that before announcing. Christmas Eve will be 12W, New Year's Eve will be 13W, and I have my next appointment 2 days after Christmas. I am thinking of doing a New Year's announcement with wine glasses, sparkling cider, and a baby bottle, or with different sized candles & stars - blue for my DH and boys, Pink for me, and if we have the NIPT results, appropriate color for the baby.
Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
I had my first appt today thought I was 8 weeks, turns out I’m 12 weeks with edd of July 4 Baby is the size of a(n) I don’t even know? Upcoming Appointments: not until January 24th now How are you feeling?: all day nausea and exhaustion Rants/Raves: I’ve got nothing Questions: GTKY: Are you done Christmas or Holiday Shopping? Nope. DD1 just had a birthday yesterday so now it’s time for me to finish my Christmas shopping with the energy I don’t have 😉
Upcoming Appointments: Had to go back in to check my HCG levels. I got a call on Tuesday that they were too high. Turns out they are just on the high end of normal and it was a routine recheck, not an actual issue. They got the results today and I haven’t received a call so i think I’m good. I won’t be able to view them myself until Monday.
How are you feeling?: Extremely tired, but I have a 4 and 5 year old who are draining. Nausea is starting to finally get a bit better
Rants/Raves: annoyed that my tastebuds are still crazy this pregnancy. I’m assuming it has to do with the higher HCG levels.
Questions:
GTKY: Are you done Christmas or Holiday Shopping? I’m pretty sure I’m done.
I feel like my NIPT results are taking a really long time to come back so now I'm freaking out that something is wrong. I called my doctor yesterday but the nurse didn't call me back so I'm going to try again today. With my history I'm so worried that I've finally gotten to this point only to find out something is seriously wrong with the genetcs:/ I really hope the results are in today because I'm not convinced I can make it until after Xmas not knowing if baby is ok.
Had my US yesterday and everything was looking good, heart rate 172, wiggling around all hyper, saw a peeper nubbin. Lol then the very end she said I measured a week behind so that made me freak out. Went home and showed the boys my US pic and put it on my bed and went to the bathroom to Google cuz I was feeling negative. Came out of the bathroom and the picture was gone.
The 4 year old took it, crumbled it up and threw it under someone else’s bed. 😭🤯🤬
so I immediately left the house pissed off and cried in my car.
Sorry @ladysamora My DD would have done the same. She told me the other day that if we had a baby she would throw it in the garbage:/ Needless to say I'm telling her nothing until I have to.
So my NIPT results are STILL not in. The doctors office called me this morning and said they will call me once they come in. I imagine they should have them by Monday. I'm not going to wait for them to call though. I'm going to be super annoying and call them AGAIN on Monday.
@panaceia, that is annoying. I'm sure the slowness is due to the holidays rather than anything to do with the results. I got my results in just over a week, but it took almost 3 for them to post them on the website.
@Panaceia, can we blame how every else everybody's short staffed? maybe they're just behind! I'm trying to think positive for you. Please please don't stress! everything will be okay
@hoodevil0611 and @babyginjuly thanks guys:) I read a few forums from where I am in Canada where it took 11 to 13 days for results to come back and everything was perfect. I know in the past when things have gone wrong at ultrasounds etc results were sent to my doctor right away and I was told almost immediately. So part of me is hoping that the fact it is taking so long means it will be good news. Monday will be 10 business days. My OB told me anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks is normal and that I shouldn't read anything into it. Of course the fact that he bothered to say that made me worry more...
@Panaceia, don’t stress! The length of time has nothing to do with results. It doesn’t work like that! It’s not like they grow anything or wait. It’s just a line of people they have to get through. But I know how hard it is to want news before Christmas... hugs.
Had a mega appointment today. Started with u/s where everything looked good. Heart rate was 155 and baby was measuring three days ahead. S/he had its back to us, so the tech could not get a great pic. I was also told that ovulated from the opposite ovary that they told me the first time, so who knows? Next I met up with the genetic counselor who told me about every test under the sun that they offer and all of my chances of genetic risks. So I am now getting two main tests that will legit test me for just about 200 issues that could adversely affect the baby. So it’ll be weeks of stress until those come back. Lastly was the midwife, who took a ton of info and said that bleeding can arise from the placenta attaching. It can cause residual blood. I found out that I will not go past 39 weeks, which likely will mean a June baby. Starting 36 weeks, I will get weekly u/s and non stress tests to check on the placenta. I was not able to make my next appointment as we got out of there after “closing”, so now I have to wait until Wednesday for that. I ended the visit with a trip to the lab, where they took about 45 vials of blood. All in all, it was definitely informative and very fun to see the baby again. It definitely made it that much more real to see the progression from last month, and a relief after the bleeding. We will tell the kids on Christmas, but I am also nervous about doing so before the NIPT comes back. I was feeling really good after the u/s until the genetic counselor squashed my hopes and said babies with a trisomy can have normal looking u/s. So back to limbo!
@xtinecatherine I'm so glad baby looked good! And don't let the genetics counselor stress you out. That's their job. Baby looked good and had a great heartbeat so focus on that! I will also be delivering by 39 weeks and since my EDD is July 1st I'll definitely be delivering in June as well:)
@Happyin14 Thank you for the reassurance. As much as you can logically know things to be true, hearing them from someone else makes such a huge difference! I think it's just the PGAL in me and the fear that comes along with that which makes my rational brain shut down:/
@Panaceia thanks for the reassurance. We are planning on telling the kids as it is going to be much harder to hide, and my worry is to let them know and have some sort of big issue. I am hoping that your results come back soon. I would bet that there is a lot that they are sending to labs and trying to get processed before the holidays and I am sure that yours got caught up in that holiday business. As for being rational, I feel that when I am pregnant, that part of my brain is gone. So totally normal to be concerned/worried because that is what moms basically do once they find out they are having kids. My oldest is almost 16 and that part has not stopped. It's probably even worse now that he's getting a driver's license in a month!
Thanks @xtinecatherine I emailed the lab this morning and they're going to look into why the results still aren't back. And you are so right about always worrying. That's our job I guess:)
Just heard back from the lab and they said they faxed the results last week. She refaxed them at around 12:30 today. Of course my doctor's office closed at noon. So now I have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to get the results:/
