@julybaybay I've never gained this much weight so fast either! It's crazy! I totally did not even think about part of that 25-30 is going to be 7-8 lbs baby! Why did I not yhint about that??? So really it's like 20ish lbs. And I'm already halfway there. Awesome. My hope is the same as you .Hopefully healthy things will sound good soon
@firsttimemommy0719 I also keep telling myself that some of the "weight" is extra blood volume and the expanding uterus/fluid, etc. I noticed extra weight almost immediately after my BFP, so I find comfort in telling myself 10 lbs while pregnant (partly fluid, etc.) is not the same as 10 lbs while not pregnant (pure fat).
@firsttimemommy0719 I haven’t yet. But I have been sooo bloated off and on. Do you think some of your stuff could be water weight gain or bloat? Mine finally leveled off somewhat. I actually look the same now as I did like four or five weeks ago now that it went down some.
@julybaybay I’m like your same size! I am 5’6” and currently 130 since I lost five lbs from being sick. Even though I’ve been able to eat more, I’ve only been able to maintain that. When I do eat, it’s always carbs or junk so I really need to get back to eating healthy. Poor baby is getting nothing but PB&J and fried chicken. I can’t remember the last time I ate a vegetable, unless you count fries. 😂😂
I feel the worst in the morning, and by night time I am like ravenous and binge eat. Ugh what is happening to me?
I have definitely been wondering how much weight the rest of you have gained? I've lost 1 lb and I'm almost 12 weeks. I'm really afraid I won't be able to gain enough weight I'm 5'1 and weigh 122 lbs
@babyginjuly hopefully we’ll feel better by second trimester and gain the right amount for baby! I feel like as soon as my appetite comes back consistently I’ll be okay, but I’m just sick like half the day. Ugh!
Isn’t it weird how most people are excited about weight loss, but now we are in a totally different position? I’ve been weight conscious since I was a teen, so it’s super weird to me lol
@rgn12 me too! I've lost over 70 lbs in the past two years and for once I literally just want to see the scale go up so I know baby is okay but I have been feeling so crummy and nauseous. I miss food! I'm sick of eating like a child.
I've lost 6lbs. My doc said I am allowed to gain 11-20 lbs. I hope that 10lbs is at least partly bloating for you gals. Have any of you ladies tried the Preggie Pop Drops? These seem to be helping when I can't get to the food or when I can't stand eating. I discovered them this week at Target. They are like sour candies with Essential Oils to reduce nausea. They seem to help as do the Sea Bands. I'm at least functional.... but weeks 9 and 10 have been hell.
I always lose weight in 1sr tri and then late 2nd tri and 3rd tri I pack on about 25-30lbs rather quickly.
1st tri is all about survival and that usually means lots of carbs and shit food so if you're gaining a good bit right now it'll probably even out in 2nd and 3rd tri.
Wife. Boy mom x6. Expecting #7. Wannabe homesteader. , 💙💙💙💙💙💙
@hakele I haven’t tried those but keep seeing people post about them! I’ve tried “tummy drops” from amazon and they were okay. I’ve been also stocking up on jolly ranchers and lemon heads in my purse lol.
I have seabands but I’m kind of nervous to wear them at work until everyone knows I’m pregnant. Lol. Have they been helpful for you?
Turning a corner. Maybe. Finally. I managed to not puke 2 days in a row last week. My "morning" sickness seems to be almost exclusively bad at night, and there's just something about puking and going to bed that makes me feel gross. Although I don't know that puking and then having to deal with my day would be better...
I am finally experiencing this horrible taste I have heard others talking about. It is like a pungent sugar taste that comes no matter what food I am eating. Ugh. It is definitely not helping the nausea having my food fast likes it’s old and has a phantom sugar coating.
@rgn12 it has been a HUGE difference since I got them on Monday. I totally understand the thoughts about wearing them at work. Luckily, I work from home, so I don't have to worry about that! But I did go to a work happy hour last night and I did take them off for that because I was paranoid. In another stroke of luck. I quit drinking about a year ago because of some alcoholism that runs in my family and I had already decided that I didn't want it and coworkers already knew about that, so the not drinking didn't throw anyone off! Yay!
@hakele Solidarity, sister. I, too, puked in a Target parking lot last week. I also have puked in my backyard TWICE, traveling from our detached garage to the house. *facepalm*
My doc gave me Diclegis and I'm taking the least amount that I can. It's helping take the edge off. I can even feel it wearing off throughout the day. I take it before bed and 2 nights ago I went to bed early because I was so exhausted. Last night as it was wearing off I felt more nauseated than I had before I started taking it and puked so violently it made me pee a little at the same time (!!) and DH was worried because as this was happening I found it hilarious and started laughing. OH BOY.
I'm sorry so many of you mamas are still dealing with nausea
I'll be 10w tomorrow and heartburn is terrible this week! I think eating carby junk is catching up with me. When I had a smoothie and a salad today I felt fine, but then the curly fries I had for dinner... not so much. Now I'm just biding my time until I load up with Tums before bed.
I’m feeling infinitely better at 12+3 after puking everyday for a while. Haven’t thrown up in a couple weeks. Hopefully it’s not temporary, and hopefully there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for everyone who’s still dealing with MS.
I’m not sure what’s going on with my weight. At my 8 week visit, I was by far the heaviest I’ve ever been. I hadn’t weighed myself in over a year when I got pregnant, but I would guess that I was up at least 10 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Today I was down 15 lbs in just under a month. Not sure what that’s about. I had nausea before I was even 4 weeks, and it started tapering off around 9.5 weeks for me, so I would’ve thought that overall, my weight would have trended in the opposite direction this past month. But I’ve been pretty upset about other stuff going on in my life the past few weeks, and I guess that’s taken a toll on my appetite even more than MS did. Or maybe the scale was just off at my 8 week visit. Or maybe it was bloat. Not sure. I’m 5’11” so not a small person, but I’m not overweight (at least as of today), so 15lbs is pretty significant!
I’m 11+1 and the sciatica is getting so bad! I feel like a baby because this is something that usually happens when you’re 9 months and huge. But it’s no joke - sharp pains all day, nausea is gone but now this is making exercising hard. Currently walking on a treadmill at 2.5mph and still getting sharp pains 😂 I almost cried loading a case of waters into my trunk from the grocery store last night.
I also lost a bit of weight between my first appt and the second one I had last Friday. My doctor told me that the baby gets first priority of the food I do take in, and at this stage, there is no reason to worry. She said that once the nausea levels out, most mommas-to-be find it much easier to start gaining weight.
I have been pretty adversed to sweets, but I got some ginger hard candies from Wholefoods, and popping one of those really helps me when the nausea does hit.
Also, anyone else having the "do I have to pee or is that just the muscles in my lower abdomen/hips moving around/stretching and being angry," or is it just me???
Cramping really really badly today and trying not to have a panic attack about it.
*TW*
I had cramps this bad when we lost the baby in September. I also had bronchitis then as well, so being this sick, and having cramps, I'm near tears in fear that we're going to lose the baby while traveling, etc. No spotting yet, but if I start spotting at the airport or on the plane, I'm going to have a meltdown.
@hoodevil0611 I'm the same as you. 5'11", not overweight, and down around 15 lbs at my last appointment. I was the same with DD but also had HG which made eating and gaining hard. I did manage to gain 26 lbs...most of it in 3rd tri. DD was full term, healthy size and weight. Your doctors will tell you if they get concerned and help if needed.
@bartonolivia Try drinking more water. Headaches can be from dehydration. It might help:)
@babyginjuly Don't worry about weight. Baby will take what they need from you. I lost through all of first and most of second tri with DD and only gained in 3rd. I was underweight at the start of that pregnancy too so didn't really have weight to spare. Everything was fine. The doctors had a plan in place in case my weight became a big problem but DD was full term, long, and chubby:)
In other news, I'm 11+5 and I hope I didn't speak too soon but I think the Nausea is gone. I was also able to eat a banana today which I've had aversion to since week 6. Hopefully the energy also starts coming back!
@Panaceia@mamanbebe Thanks, the cramps stopped sometime midafternoon, and still no spotting, so I'm just praying. I did call my OBGYN, and as I suspected, nothing I can really do but I *am* safe to fly so we're still headed out tomorrow. They said if I'm still anxious when I get back to town to call them. Such sweeties.
@foodislove I'm so glad that they stopped, FX that it was only gas pains. I had some pretty bad ones over Thanksgiving that definitely scared me. Safe travels tomorrow!
@foodislove I'm so glad you're starting to feel better! I'm glad they told you to call once you're back in town if you're still worried. Hopefully you stay feeling good though and have no need to call:)
I have some TMI symptoms coming up.... I am 13w and having some trapped wind pain/indigestion. I am trying everything to get rid of it! It’s not severe right now, just pains in my upper abdomen, however I am constipated and have that full feeling constantly.
trying to have small meals, have ACV + a little water with meals, and trying not to eat anything that will cause indigestion/gas. So no fried foods, fruit, white carbs. All I want is bread 😩 but I want to poop more.. so.....
acne all over my jawline too. Fantastic! Hope everyone’s symptoms are getting better as we head towards 2nd trimester.
@elle_88 that sounds miserable I’ve had some success with gas-x before bed. But also magnesium powder mixed with hot water (like Calm brand) before bed has helped get things moving in a couple days.
@elle_88 I'm 13 weeks as well. Someone suggested lying on your left side with your legs tucked up under you for gas pains. It works well for me so this has become my go to position when tummy troubles strike.
I was feeling pretty good toward the end of last week and suddenly that has changed. Nausea waves are pretty bad, and gurgly unsettled indigestive gut have replaced constipation. DH just went out to get a xmas eve pizza and I'm hoping beyond hope that I can stomach it and that it doesn't make me feel sick.
@elle_88 no advice but I feel your pain, I had a few weeks of terrible constipation and now I’ve moved on to (tmi) diarrhea pretty much whenever I eat!
Has anyone noticed cramping after sex? DH and I have had a bit of a dry spell because I was nervous and also the idea of being touched made me want to puke but my sex drive is finally back and after tonight I noticed some cramping, kind of period like pain. For the life of me I can’t rwmember what sex was like when pregnant with my first child, other than that it wasn’t frequent because I felt gross most of the time lol
@mrscammack I remember from last time that sex and orgasm esp cause Braxton Hicks-like contractions. They are harmless but I felt they got pretty strong during 2nd tri and 3rd tri because my whole belly/Ute would tighten up rock hard in a contraction.
