Re: TTC Check-in 12/17/18

  • @ChristenMA83 my dx needs to be changed to unexplained and rx to IUI.

    QOTW: What's your favorite holiday/time of year & why?
    March/April is my favorite time of year. I help mentor a high school robotics team and we have regional competitions in March with the Championship in April. That has to be my favorite time of year because the competitions are so fun. Favorite holiday has to be Christmas because I love receiving new things.

    AFM, I finished taking the 5 days of letrozole on Saturday. Need to call today to schedule the midcycle US for Thursday (CD12). If the letrozole does bump up my O date, then we might be doing the IUI right around Christmas. Normally I O around CD17-19 which would be about the 27th next week so we'll see when it happens. I'm guessing we'll be doing more than 1 US.

  • @inthewoods23 - sounds like things are going pretty smooth so far! Hope everything lines up perfectly with the actual IUI and you still have a restful Christmas next week!

    @ChristenMA83 - if you are indeed still having your FET tomorrow, sending major good, luck-filled vibes your way!! Hope everything goes smoothly and that the TWW flies by!

    @prpl11butterfly - how did your initial RE appointment go? (I believe it was last week?)

    QOTW: I love Christmas time! The different Christmas parties, so many excuses to do baking, listening to carols, and just all the family time. IF has definitely dampened my cheer during the holidays at times, but still love this time of year.

    AFM: should be getting AF in the next couple of days. Not much on my end. *TW* However, my friend who has been ttc for a few months now had a miscarriage at 9 weeks yesterday. She’s very upset about it naturally and I spent awhile talking to her and am working on getting a card sent out to her with a bunch of messages of support from the friends who know. To be brutally honest though, I’m finding myself conflicted with my feelings towards her. I obviously feel very sorry and sad that she’s going through this, however I’m finding it hard to be completely empathetic towards her. Since she started ttc, she’s spent a lot of time giving me advice on how to get pregnant, talking a lot about how hard waiting to get pregnant is, and just talking a lot about herself without asking how I’m doing (she’s known about my IF for over 2 years now). To put it bluntly, she hasn’t been the most supportive friend. And so although I do genuinely feel sad for her and am happy to arrange the card, I also can’t help feeling almost a bitterness and emotional exhaustion with having to provide her with support when I haven’t gotten it in return. I feel guilty feeling this way knowing what she’s just gone through. I feel like you ladies are the only people in my life (besides DH) who may get where I’m coming from.

  • @inthewoods23 fx that everything stays on track and the IUI happens at the perfect time 😉

    @sincethelastday I am sorry that your struggling with those feelings. I wish your friend had been more supportive for you over the years. This journey is very isolating. Give what you can but don't feel bad if you need to take a step back from giving

    @ChristenMA83 good luck tomorrow!!

    My appt with RE went really well. He doesn't think we will need much intervention (obviously pending test results). He said he may do a "light fertility drug". I'm going for my CD3 labs and US bright and early tomorrow. Sono HSG will be on Jan 3. We are obviously benched for at least this cycle as well. AF being sure I can't forget she's here. Cramping has been aweful. And acne.... omg I'm broken out so bad all over my back and a few on my nose and chin. I'm over it.
  • @prpl11butterfly sorry about all your AF symptoms, but I hope everything went well with you BW and US!

  • @inthewoods23 it was a ridiculous morning. I almost missed the available window due to traffic (accident on hwy) and sat in said traffic crying because of it. I made it though. This was my first baseline US so I have no idea how to say it went. But it went lol. 17 vials of blood (and 2 lab trips) later.... I'm ready for the day to be over.
  • @prpl11butterfly oof! 17 vials! I think my first baseline BW was 9, and 1 of those was for the genetic screening. As someone who always ends up feeling slightly panicked when I'm running late to doctor's appointments I probably would have cried too! TTC is stressful enough, we don't need to add being late to appointments on top of it!

  • @prpl11butterfly 17 vials!! do you have any blood left.  I'm with @inthewoods23 I think my first baseline BW was closer to 9.  I'm glad the RE appointment went well.  Hopefully its a short and relatively painless process for you.
    @inthewoods23 those competitions sound amazing!
    @sincethelastday Bravo to you for arranging the sympathy cards - I can say from experience it is helpful when people reach out with kind gestures like that.  I totally get your conflicted feeling though.  It is very frustrating to get unsolicited advice from self-appointed experts and her current regretful circumstances don't make up for the past insensitivities.

    AFM: Transfer was yesterday and went really well.  The xanax had me knocked out asleep in the waiting room before I headed back.  About a month ago they added a second doctor to our clinic and yesterday was our first experience with him.  He was hilarious (though I don't know if it was intentional) and they had me giggling through most of the transfer...but he was very pleased with how still I was for the actual transfer piece.  Over all a very good experience that makes me feel a little more hopeful for success this time around.

  • @prpl11butterfly - thanks for the supportive words! It’s hard sometimes to figure out how to feel. Glad to hear your appointments went well, but that sucks about the traffic jam! I would totally have been panicking as well! Hope you only receive good results from the tests!
  • @ChristenMA83 - I literally think I was responding when you responded lol. Yeah, I hope the card helps even in a little way. If you or anyone else has any tips on what would be most helpful to offer a friend in this situation, I’m happy to hear them! And thanks for the validation on how I’m feeling about this - my emotions can sometimes feel like quite the maze.

    Happy to hear your transfer went so well and that there was some humor thrown in there for good measure lol. Hope Christmas and the holiday events make the TWW more bearable!
  • @ChristenMA83 fx for you! I'm glad you feel good about the procedure and that the new doc wa as pleasant!

    I thought the RPL panel was the reason for the large # but in thinking about it, that was the second round and was "only" 6 vials. They did 11 in the morning and this is what they were running:

  • @prpl11butterfly looks like they put your infectious disease panel in with the other stuff.. those were seperate for me.

    @sincethelastday for me a couple friends sent cards and a small bouquet.  It was nice just to know that others recognized the loss, and helped me feel less alone.  It wasn't something I wanted to talk about in person with anyone other than my husband, but the silent gestures of support were perfect.

  • @ChristenMA83 - thanks for the insight! That’s very nice of your friends to provide a little bouquet of flowers as well as a card!
  • @ChristenMA83 that makes sense then.

    @sincethelastday for me, I wanted to talk about it but didnt want to bring it up myself. I needed people to ask. It's such a tricky subject because it can make others uncomfortable, though I'm finding more and more people who have been through it as I open up. I think the card is great for showing that your thinking of her. Honestly, I feel like she will start to see things more from your perspective and (I truly hope) back off on the "advice" now.
  • @prpl11butterfly - I can totally see that about wanting to talk about it, but not wanting to bring it up. Although not the same situation, I feel that same way with just IF in general; like I want to talk non-stop about it with friends but only if they bring it up. As if them bringing it up gives me permission to talk about it. Otherwise I feel like I’m burdening people by bringing it up myself. I think my friend feels the same way about her miscarriage. It’s a good reminder that you don’t have to wait for someone to ask for support, you can just offer straight out - thanks!
  • Midcycle update-

    2 follies on my right are growning. One at 12mm, the other at 13mm. I go in Christmas Eve morning for a 2nd US. Hopefully the estimated 2mm a day growth happens and they show close to 20mm. If that happens then trigger Christmas Eve night with the IUI in the morning on the 26th! DH and I are both off all next week so there's no stress of having to work and do these appointments.

    Hope everyone else is doing good!
