Weekly randoms 12/17

Re: Weekly randoms 12/17

  • @brie_and_almonds it’s the frequency that’s killing me. I’m up at 10:30, 1:30, 3:00 (when DHs alarm goes off), 4:30, and 5:30. That's too often!

  • @mrskoz428 ugh that's how my son woke up for a year and a half 😭 or more frequently some nights. I don't think he's normal, though lol.
  • If I told H to sleep in, he would be fast asleep right now. Not stressing about if I'm going to remember to tell the ABA therapist it's pajama day at school so she changes him. Not stressing about if I'm going to remember to bring his lunch. I literally got up, packed his pajamas and lunch and put them in H's car. I'm going back to sleep now 😩
  • @mrskoz428 - FWIW, waking up to feed/care for a baby is MUCH more rewarding and less exhausting than being woken up by pain. I understand. My menstrual cramps are as bad as 3rd stage labor for me (it's absolutely incredible that I deal with that level of hellish pain literally every month. I deserve a fucking medal). It wakes me up at 3:30 or 4:00 am and it's so bad I'm in tears. There's nothing I can do. I have to take 4 Advil plus 1 hydrocodone every 4 hours just to manage the pain. But since I'm, you know, SLEEPING, unless I set an alarm I'm unable to keep up on my pain management and I always delude myself into thinking "tonight will be different." Then I'm up for 45 minutes while my uterus contracts so hard I can't breathe.
Whereas with my son... he'd cry a bit every 2-4 hours and I'd get up to feed him/change his diaper and he'd fall right back asleep and so would I. Plus it helps having a spouse to take a turn (unless you're EBF - then it's all you, girlfriend!). It's not nearly as bad as waking up in pain and looking for relief.
  • I only caught the beginning of the new drama thread. But I can't believe they booted someone for calling her out, but didn't boot her? WTF! If you're going to allow someone to stay on and be a complete dick, people should be allowed to stay who aren't gonna put up with her shit.

  • I can not believe they deleted another thread! or that the girl who called her out got banned.. I don't get it.
  • It was still pretty tame when I last saw the thread.  Did anyone see it blow up, or did it just get deleted because things she said in the deleted thread were brought up?
  • @mrskoz428 After I started weaning down on my pain medication after my csection about a week after DD was born, I would wake up in such awful pain and legitimately not be able to turn my body in bed to get the medication. DH started keeping the Narco on his side of the bed so he can give them to me. You may want to try that with YH if you are in a ton of pain when you wake up.
  • I'd bet money old Hopeful was complaining to the mods to get stuff deleted that quickly...

  • @SpaceBurger - hooray for anatomy scan! Are you finding out the sex today?
So today for lunch I had a fat sandwich. Like, all the ingredients were basically just fat. I took a slice of bread, smeared it with mayo, added a layer of shredded colby-jack cheese, added bacon, avocados, tomatoes, a slice of American cheese, and topped with another mayo-slathered slice of bread. I cooked it in bacon grease. It was amazing.
I ordered clothes from Motherhood Maternity too. My shirts are doing that weird tenting thing they do when you're too pregnant to wear them with dignity. I have a few sweaters that are long and will hopefully last a while longer.
  • @spaceburger the bit about the casinos was truly random.  I enjoyed it!

@wishiwaspreggo oh dear! Bacon smell makes me nauseous when I'm NOT pregnant. Your post just grossed me out like crazy. Makes me wonder,  how many of you ladies LOVE bacon but can't stand it during pregnancy?

  • Despite keeping up with my meds, my pain is back to a 6/10. This is miserable.

  • @expandcontract - woops, sorry to make you feel sick!! I love me some bacon whether I'm pregnant or not. The only food aversion I have right now is to rich desserts. Cakes especially. Barf. I usually love them but when someone hands me a slice and I try to eat it I get queasy. It doesn't even taste like food - the texture reminds me of dirt. It's so weird.
But otherwise I can eat all food, all the time. Like a big bowl of steamed broccoli with cheese sauce to dip sounds delicious right now. I've been craving broccoli for a while. I need to buy some for myself.
  • @wishiwaspreggo Yes! Well, we found out in one of those elective scan places (2d because 3d freaked me out), but today will hopefully confirm that it's a girl! Also, that sandwich sounds amazing. Maybe attached to a stomach ache haha, but the taste would be so good.

@expandcontract I don't really like bacon a ton in the first place. It's good on stuff, but the smell of making it at home totally grosses me out.

@mrskoz428 Oh noooooo are you going to go back in?

  • @mrskoz428 Can you get a second opinion at another hospital?:/
  • @expandcontract The smell of bacon cooking made me feel terrible in the first trimester. Thankfully now I can cook/eat it again!

  • @SpaceBurger all our casinos around here have to be on a river, I wonder what they do? I actually worked at one as a part time cocktail waitress for a year, and my ex has worked at like 6 local casinos, and I've never heard that before. Interesting!

  • HOW is this day still going on?! I've done nothing but work diligently all day, it's supposed to fly by if I work, but suddenly the last hour is dragging. Booooo.

@lappymom2019 my insurance only covers this one hospital. My colleagues are trying to convince me to take a half day tomorrow. I may cave.

ETA: @SpaceBurger I wouldn’t get any more answers if I went in. I could take an oxy but I’m too scared.

@sleepy33 That reminds me of the show Ozarks with their gambling river boat. I only know this weird fact because I work at a concrete company, and they threw chips all over our forms hahah.
ETA: I'm seeing online that maybe it's to get rid of old chips rather than it being good luck?
  • @expandcontract I'm with you on bacon smelling gross always 🤢

@mrskoz428 I'm so sorry you're hurting again. I took Percocet during my pregnancy with DS as a last resort (I had an abscess lanced and tried so hard to go with just Tylenol and couldn't). If it gets too much to tolerate, please take the oxy. It's important you're getting relief and your body isn't too stressed. ♥️

I'm sorry I've been bad about keeping up on here but keep coming on to bitch about my husband 😂 this morning he really did a great thing and I couldn't relax and just let him handle it.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds how did the week long sexcapades go?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds well, I slept through every med reminder alarm last night (so did DH) so this morning sucks. I put in for a sub this afternoon, but have to make it through the morning. I’m also running out of paid leave. This is going to be a very hard year.

  • @SpaceBurger I love Ozark! I hate that they don't film it down here though lol. I know they do have to destroy old chips, obviously, but that seems an inefficient method haha. Probably a luck/superstition thing.

  • DD is in tears again this morning about not getting a sister.  She's been crying for a good hour.  Last night I took her shopping to pick out a few outfits for her baby brother, but I'm running out of ways to cheer her up.  (She's also a preteen, so her emotions are all over the place).
  • @fatmonica that's really hard 😟 have you talked to her about why she wants a sister? And maybe point out the similarities/or benefits of having brothers?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds. Yes, we have tried all that.  She's just really bummed, but I'm glad she can work through it now rather than feeling this way when he is here.  I think a lot of it is her hormones are all out of wack.
  • @sleepy33 ahhhh...good luck! ❤️ Sending good home buying juju your way!

  • @sleepy33 good luck!

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week, been busy with ugh everything. Trying to keep up as much as I can!

I’m starting to freak out about becoming a mom of a toddler and a newborn. DD can’t go down the stairs yet - I still carry her. How do I get them both downstairs? What do I do with baby when I cook breakfast for both of us? DD takes up 98% of my waking time, how will I have time for both of them??

  • @poshspice I’m nervous about having one! I can only imagine the stress it can cause thinking about two! Just know we are never given more than we can handle and that it will be hard, but it will soon become the new normal.
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @poshspice I don't know how much you did with DD, but I think baby wearing could really save you. You can do this. I get so scared that DS won't feel loved or will feel pushed to the side because the baby needs so much attention. I really worry about it.
  • @poshspice RIGHT THERE WITH YOU. DS doesn't walk yet (he's working on it). Thankfully we don't have stairs and we have an open layout but I'm just like - how do I make sure you won't poke the crap out of the baby while I'm doing something?! He's so loving towards other kids and cats and he laughs with such joy when he's around them, but he is not gentle.

  • Definitely echo @eatinwatermelonseeds baby wearing suggestion. My first kiddo had reflux and wanted to be held all. the. time. Baby wearing was a lifesaver. That plus swings, bouncers, etc. All the baby holding devices.

@eatinwatermelonseeds DD hated the K’tan so I gave up baby wearing until she was big enough for the Ergo and Tula. But I’ve decided we’re going to invest in some Wildbird ring slings this time around. I already bought a black one in extra length for DH and his giant chest lol. I’m having trouble picking a color for myself though. DD was a blowout queen so I’m afraid of buying any light fabrics for fear of staining. I’m also waiting for our anatomy scan to confirm for sure baby is a girl. Not that it should affect my color choices! Wow, sorry that got long winded.

@mrskoz428 One is definitely overwhelming at first but you will find a rhythm! I suppose that’s true of two, as well, but I’m still terrified!
