Re: Symptoms Week of 12/17

  • The end of last week I thought I had turned a positive corner in terms of feeling better and more energized. But then this weekend the same symptoms returned (indigestion, lethargy, headaches, nausea). Now that I am past the 9th week I am really anxious for these symptoms to go away so I know I won't be like Amy Schumer, still miserable well into the second tri.
  • Loading the player...
  • Still relying on unisom to keep my nausea under control. I cannot take out the trash or do the dishes or I puke. (Really wish my husband would help keep up with the dishes but... he’s really lazy 😒) I’m always light headed. Can’t get up without almost passing out, anyone else?

Also feeling a lot of pulling around my pelvic area. I’m guessing it’s just my uterus growing but man it’s never been so noticeable with my last pregnancies. Throwing up some blood as well. Can’t wait for my appt tomorrow to see if everything is okay!
  • The nausea was the worst it has been this weekend. 10 weeks now, so I’m hoping it’s the peak of it and I’ll be on the upswing soon! Unisom just turns me into a zombie, and it didn’t help all that much, so I’m going to skip it for now. Picked up some B6 today and some sea bands. Hoping something helps!!

  • My nausea has been a little better I think but I just feel so rotten after I eat (thanks slow digestion) and I am feeling so run down I just want to sleep so badly I could just cry. This is our last week of school before we get two weeks off so I am really hoping I will be able to get some rest.

@bartonolivia I've been lightheaded too :( Hope your appt goes well!
@leendenny with you on the sleeping. Literally all I want to do ever.

Anyone else have a gross taste in their mouth?  This whole week I have been simultaneously starving, super full/bloated feeling, no food sounds good, and my mouth tastes awful and nothing helps (go figure mint tastes awful to me RN too). I just want to eat semi normally again. Also I wish I could just hibernate for 3 or 4 weeks and wake up feeling better lol.
  • @quinniebear yes to the taste. It is worse at night. I feel like it is linked to the reflux/indigestion and also not being able to brush my tongue anymore when I brush my teeth. Doing so leads to automatic puking in the sink. I feel like such a mess.
  • Heading into week 12 at the end of the week and hoping to turn a corner going into the second trimester. I could really use a boost of energy with my 4 and 5 year old heading iinto Christmas break next week.

I've been neasuaious on and off every day too. I'm happy I found my sea bands over the weekend from my prior pregnancies which are the only things to provide relief. Wish I thought about them sooner.
  • @quinniebear Ugh yes, and everything I eat leaves a horrible aftertaste! I hit 12 weeks this Friday and I'm hope that some normalcy and that "second trimester bounce" gets here soon.

  • I'm at the beginning of week 11. Nausea is a lot lessened, and I actually have a bit of an appetite again! I still get tired easily and I'm not up for a lot of standing or walking, but I don't feel as flat out exhausted. Still gag on my toothbrush and when I cough, but I'll take it!
I've figured out (with the help of my Fitbit), that it takes me 10 hours to actually get 8 hours of sleep. I definitely feel the best on days when I get enough sleep.
  • I feel awful. The last week has been the worst for nausea and vomiting. I had to call in one day last week and I work from home! So you know it was bad.
My nausea is the worst when I get cold. I catch a chill and start gagging. So living in CO, that has been a serious challenge. We walked out of Target on Saturday evening and I caught a chill and threw up right there in the parking lot.
One thing that has helped to have on hand is the Gingerbread Lara Bars. They are basically ginger, nuts, and dates. So some carbs and some ginger. They have really helped. I bought out the shelf at Target 3 times now. That should get me through the last little bit here. I'm 9+5 today. So still a little ways to go before I hopefully turn that corner on the second tri and feel better.
Also, I've never been so tired in all my life. I took a 4-hour nap yesterday. It is all I can do to make it through the workday right now. The day usually ends with me curled up in a ball in bed hugging my laptop. I'm also struggling to sleep through the night, so that is also playing into the exhaustion.
Nothing smells right, nothing tastes right, I'm puking or coming close to puking all the time, and I just want to sleep. The first trimester is not fun so far.
  • I’ve got a wicked head cold/developing sinus infection which is way worse than my usual so I’m blaming on my weakened immune system and the fact that I can’t take any cold/sinus pills to help alleviate my symptoms. But as far as pregnancy symptoms I mainly only have some bloating and occasional heartburn plus mild on and off cramping so I think the first trimester nightmare is almost over (fingers crossed)
  • I have the WORST gas pains and constipation this week. I feel miserable.
  • @mrscammack - I hope you feel better soon! Getting a cold is no fun on top of all the other symptoms! I had the worst cold ever during implantation week. It was awful. Lasted for about 3 weeks total. My husband had that same cold for 5 weeks. I couldn't imagine having one on top of nausea.
  • Also still taking unisom to manage my nausea. Vomiting and peeing myself. I have some dental
work I need done so I’m in a good bit of mouth pain. Im also on antibiotics for said dental issues which caused a raging yeast infection. I had some bleeding today and it took some time to figure out that the bleeding was from the yeast infection and not anything else. Basically I’m miserable right now.
  • Add me to the constant bad taste club. Still super bloated, nauseous, and so tired I can barely function. Hormones are getting crazy and I turn into a raging B at the drop of a hat. Ugh.

  • The nausea has been slowly getting worse and worse. I am 9W3D today. Yesterday it was so bad I couldn't eat my lunch... and I have been eating the same wrap for lunch at work like 6 months now... I had two bites and threw it out. Instead all I want is SOUR candy!! So I had half a bag of sour skittles for lunch. Oh well!
  • Another bad taste club + nausea + gagging member! My Rice Krispies taste like green peppers and I HATE peppers of any kind. Food sounds good in theory, but if I go to eat something, ugh, nope. Nausea. Doing much of anything causes nausea (no vomiting, thankfully). DH and I were planning all of our meals for the month at the beginning of the month so we could just buy groceries once or twice vs. every freaking weekend. But, being preggo has changed my appetite and he's been super great about thinking of something I can eat at dinner and winging it each night. Light, white carbs and some fruits and proteins are about all I can do right now. And the gagging when brushing my teeth or anything gets to near to my neck is pretty meh, too. I'm 11+1, so REALLY hoping this all goes away soon.
  • @runner_doll OMG That sounds awful. Those poor rice Krispies
  • I was hoping one of you ladies that are further along would say you're feeling a lot better already lol I'm 11+2.. hopefully next week ladies!

@babyginjuly I was hoping that too! Things I read said the miserableness peaks at week 9 and then gets better, but NOPE. It just morphed into different ways of miserableness. I had a violent vomit last night right before bed that was the worst yet. And I don’t digest anything after 4pm. It just sits in my esophagus until the next day.
  • @julybaybay Oh man!! that sounds miserable :( I hope you also start feeling better.

  • @doddlemomma I am with you on the gas pains. No matter how bland I eat I have severe gas pains and distension. Gas-X and Align probiotic are my new best friends.
  • I was between 14-20wks with my previous pregnancies before I started feeling better.

That was a surprise for sure! I really can't wait until the second trimester.

@nopegoat :o  :s say it ain't so! I will never make it that much further. I have barely been getting by at work, my house is in shambles, I am in shambles, and I keep telling myself that in 2 weeks I will be fine and my life will get back on track. 2 more months of this and everything feels like it will collapse.
  • Blueberries still taste like soap to me, which is a bummer because fruit in general doesn't sound great to me. I need to get a salad kid or something, I'm seriously lacking fresh produce in my diet right now.

Anyone else still getting cramps from your uterus stretching? It freaks me out so much, even with this being my second pregnancy and knowing what is going on down there.
  • Does anyone else get bad lower back pain? Mine is mainly on the left side. Just turns up when I'm walking randomly... worse in the evenings.
  • @potterbaby27 yes! Especially if I am sitting in the same position too long!
  • @potterbaby27 I had that with my first pregnancy, I think it had something to do with my back muscles overcompensating for weakness and strain in the front.
  • Does anyone have somewhat constant cramps? I know I’m not hydrated enough, and I’m really trying to get in as much fluids as I can without getting sick. They aren’t painful cramps, and no bleeding, so I’m not too worried, just wondering if anyone else has them as well. Don’t know if I should call my dr or not

  • I'm in the cramping and random back pain group. Last night was the first night in a week that I was mostly able to move when I woke up. My lower back locks up and I can't move. Also a return of intestinal cramping and random diarrhea (yay  :s ) plus other stretching/rpl/weird pin-pricky cramps and gas pain. Woo Hoo.
  • @nolemomma14 On the days when I'm not drinking enough water, I get uterine tightening that can be relieved in water. It's a lot more apparent later in pregnancy. But right now most of my cramping is coming from the stretching of the round ligaments. I just had some at the grocery store this morning that surprised me.

That being said, give your doctor a call even just to get peace of mind, that's what they are there for :)
  • I'm 12+2 and the nausea and vomiting are just getting worse. My food aversions now encompass EVERYTHING and if I do manage to get something down it doesn't stay there for long.

I finished progesterone today and my OB told me to try cutting out the prenatals so I'm hoping these things help a bit.

Oh and RLP if I've been sitting for a while and stand up too fast. Ouch!
  • Just. So. Tired. The thought if doing anything above the bare minimum is just too much. I have wanted to take a bath all week, but it's just too much work. I sometimes wonder if I'll ever feel rested again.
  • I am in the same boat as you all, I just keep feeling worse. At 8 weeks I was only pseudo miserable, but still able to eat.  This week absolutely nothing sounds good. I didn't eat dinner tonight, and hardly ate anything last night. I am losing weight and feel so slothy and gross.  I really hate being pregnant. For me, all this first tri nastiness gives way to migraines around 15 weeks....so it makes for a pretty shitty few months.

  • Still nauseous as well and even though food is not appealing, it is necessary for me to not puke, so I am still on my schedule of eating like every 2 hours, which is a LOT more than the additional 300 calories they said we need. When my stomach gets empty I start dry heaving, so I just keep shoving food in there to make it stop, and a few crackers just doesn't cut it. I have already gained 10 lbs and am the heaviest I have been now in my life. Fun times. Eating second breakfast while I write this.
  • This week the nausea has been the worst so far. I read somewhere that week 9 is usually "peak week" so I'm hoping that's true and I'll be turning a corner soon .So incredibly exhausted too. I've been falling asleep on the couch by 8:30 .

Does anyone out there feel like they are gaining too much weight? I've gained close to 10lbs already. I'm nausea all the time except while eating. Then I get nauseous after I eat. It's a vicious cycle. I'm just worried about already gaining 10lbs. My doc said to shoot for 25-30lbs total so I feel like I've already gained 30% of that and I'm not even showing yet!! Anyone feel the same way???
  • @firsttimemommy0719 yes! Right there with you with the 10lbs already. And my normal build is average, on the slim side (5'6, 135) so 10lbs is normally what I gain/lose over the course of 2 years, never in a few weeks. My hope/plan is that I level out in a couple weeks where the nausea stops and my energy returns so that I can cut back on the excessive carby eating and get exercise, which I hope will trim a few lbs off and reset the count closer to where it should be by the second tri. It scares me more when I think 7-8 lbs of that total weight gain are going to be baby, so that leaves even less room for me to gain to stay within that 25-30 lb range.
  • I am 8 weeks 6 days and this week has been the worst! I have slept basically all day the past 2 days and can’t keep hardly anything down.
