Re: High Risk/Gestational Diabetes/PreE/Etc.

  • Thank you, @oaklandava! It’s so frustrating to get a different reading from the same meals. Glad you have an end date. I’m still convinced I’m going to have this baby in the toilet because I’m probably really good at talking myself into thinking I just need to poop. :)

  • BP seems to be holding steady and no signs of pre-e this time around. However I have too much fluid and baby is measuring big (90th percentile, about 6 lbs) so we're now doing twice weekly NSTs and BPPs and OB visits. I see my OB Monday for the first one and hoping to talk to her about expectations and what our red flags/danger zones are.

  • Glad your BP is holding steady @ladystout08... We are in a similar boat. I've been on modified activity for a partial placental abruption since around 16 weeks...but now baby is measuring large (nearly 6lbs at 32 weeks) with too much fluid. We have another scan next week at 36 to see where we stand (was hoping for a vbac but it seems less and less likely). Interested in hearing what your OB says...mine are all over the place between the midwife, OB and MFM and we are having trouble understanding it all!

  • Hi all- I’ve been following along for awhile but this is my first time posting (other than the intro). It’s been really helpful reading everyone’s stories and recommendations.
I have GD, bad swelling, and a new whiny, disgruntled disposition.

Has anyone noticed trouble eating takeaway food when something similar made at home doesn’t cause a spike in blood sugar levels?
  • @frauliv Hey hey. It could be something in the ingredients. Like, a sauce or something that has sugar in it, etc.

Appointment today for GD, growth scan, and BPP. Hoping everything is good so far. My swelling has gotten pretty bad mostly overnight and I've had some headaches with vision issues...not blurry just like orbs around lights and stuff. Hoping for an all clear to enjoy Christmas with my 4 yo who is SO excited.

  • @frauliv Yep, restaurant food affects me more than similar homemade food.

  • @MrsDho11 I did, thank you!! :)

He seems to think it's related to my highs and lows with the GD. My BP was higher than it normally is, but not high enough to be alarming. I am 35w3d and he's measuring 37w3d by body measurements, my stomach is reading 37 weeks too. His head is measuring 38 weeks. When he checked he could feel his head pushing on my cervix, but it's pretty closed up still so he thinks we're safe another week. He's been measuring ahead the entire time so I'm not 100% surprised. My fluid levels are good this time, they were high last week. So, guess no Christmas baby :(

I am slightly sad the US tech couldn't get a profile picture. He was too low for her to get it.

  • Had my first monitoring appointment. We almost failed the NST because my daughter is a pain in the rear and didn't want to cooperate but after laying there for an hour we finally passed. My fluid continues to rise so we'll continue to monitor. I go back tomorrow. After a long talk with my OB she won't let me go past 39 weeks, at the earliest we'll induce at 37. She's measuring in the 90th percentile and like 6.5 lbs and we've seen her practice breathing and what not so my OB feels like if she comes early she shouldn't have many issues. My BP is holding steady so far and no signs of pre-e again so for now we monitor weekly and we have another growth scan Jan 3rd.

  • We are scheduled for our c-section on 12/28. Baby A refused to flip back to head down and now they have no space. A is at 5.5lbs and B is at 6.5lbs, so there's a whole lot of baby in there.

My symptoms have just skyrocketed - joint pain (including my knuckles!), extreme swelling... almost made it to the end. I can be thankful at least that my BP is staying steady, so they're going to let us hit the 38 week mark.

  • Monitoring is going well. She passes the NSTs and my fluid hasn't increased since last week so we're just keeping on keeping on. No signs of pre-e yet so we just monitor 2x a week and wait. Another growth scan on Jan 3rd.

  • Appointment today was fine for baby, but for me, I've gained 4.5 pounds of fluid in a week and have 140/93 BP today, when taken twice, and an hour apart. They ran PIH labs which I will get results on tomorrow, and if they show whatever for pre-e I will be admitted tomorrow. My urine is clear of protein, which is good. She said it shows in your blood before your urine so it could be going in that direction and just early. My belly is measuring 40 weeks and baby is super low to the point she can feel him. I guess we will see. If labs are clear, I go back Monday and Thursday before c section on 1/7. She said she'd put me on bedrest this week if I didn't need to be admitted.

Slightly stressed because I still have stuff to do for him and being on bedrest would be super hard to do those things.

  • Got a call from my Dr this morning that in addition to the other issues, I have cholestasis (liver issue I've had with past pregnancies). Baby needs to come out today so we got to the hospital to learn baby is still breech, so waiting on a csection at 37+2! Not the Friday that was expected but excited to meet little one in a bit!
