Baby is the size of a(n): Roborovski Hamster

Any appointments? Questions?: Not until some time in January. 4th time mom brain is brutal...I actually have to check my calendar for this one. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Rants/Raves?: Whyyyy is it so damn hard for the navy to issue orders in a timely manner?? This is getting ridiculous. My husband is due to transfer in the first week of March and we still don’t know if we have to move or not. 😒 Meanwhile, I’m 3 months pregnant (will be closer to 7 in March) and have 3 other kids and we own our house. Would be nice to plan enough ahead that we could at least START to not be completely scrambling.

How are you feeling?: Relaxed, actually. Just got the call from the doctor that NIPS results came back normal, which is a huge weight off my shoulders. I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold out for Christmas like I had planned to find out the sex - I think I want to know now. This pregnancy still feels so surreal. I’m hoping that knowing that everything looks good so far, combined with a sex and a directed name search will help with all of that. Physically, I feel fine. I have started to notice that my pants are definitely tighter at the end of the day, though I’m not quite at hair tie or maternity pant levels. The bloat IS starting to make me look thick around the middle. Not such a huge fan of this awkward in between stage - the “is she just gaining a bunch of weight??” stage.

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? It actually fell into my lap. Another mom from my oldest’s birth month board contacted me, offering me a flexible hours job that allowed me to work within the bounds of my husband’s schedule so that I wouldn’t have to pay a sitter. I absolutely LOVE my job. It’s my me-time.

Baby is the size of a(n): kiwi

Any appointments? Questions?: Has our Feist ultrasound Friday and things went well, squirmy baby! Next midwife appointment is beginning of January.

Rants/Raves?: I am not a huge vegetable eater at the best of times but while pregnant they become public enemy number 1, I can't stand them! However I know I'm not eating as well as I should be so I'm on the hunt for delicious healthy meals, particularly leftover you can eat cold because I don't have access to a fridge or microwave at work.

How are you feeling?: Decent! I was tired enough to nap this weekend but we also had a jam packed weekend.

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

I just fell into retail management and never found my way out. I do like managing people and I'm good at sales so it makes sense but being totally controlled by mall hours is a challenge. I've never had a strong draw to any kind of profession, the only thing I've really ever known I wanted was to be a mother. However I am currently a part time student working towards my paralegal diploma. I wasn't really aware of this job until a few years ago when I met some paralegals and realized their job sounded super interesting and something I might be good at. Since I work full time I am taking two courses per semester and slowly working away at it. I really like the idea of working with clients and making sure everything is set up and ready for them, and that they understand the ins and outs of what we'll be completing for them.

@ShadeofGreen816 I'm actually just finishing my Estate Law course (final exam on Thursday, eek!) and couldn't agree with you more. We've been reviewing all the legislation for wills and living wills and its so important to have this stuff sorted out. Our instructor is a lawyer and has so many stories of arguments and drama resulting from not having these documents in place, it's super sad!

Baby is the size of a(n): lemon or would fit on a post it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any appointments? Questions?: Appointment isn't until the beginning of January which seems like forever. questions? does anybody cramp after throwing up?

Rants/Raves?: raves I feel almost normal until after I eat lunch

How are you feeling?: still vomiting almost nightly and the constipation is real these days

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

I was an 18 year old with only a high school diploma and needed something that would get me decent money so I could take care of my then 1 year old. it just kind of stuck for 11 years.

@ShadeofGreen816 I worked at a small hospital inpatient pharmacy where we had to be more involved with other things besides pharmacy, so I get exactly what you're saying. I learned alot about what end of life care and what trying at no end to keep someone alive really is, while I was working there. I think end of life care is beautiful and although tough and sad it would be so rewarding. I also agree on being prepared for it.

@KissMeImScottish I'm so at that stage right I look like I've gained 10 pounds (even though I've lost weight thanks to MS) and now I'm at the hair tie stage.

  • Due date/W+D: 6/21 - 12+3

Baby is the size of a(n): plum

Any appointments? Questions?: NT scan this Friday

Rants/Raves?: waiting anxiously for NIPT and Gender results! I don’t get why it takes so long!

How are you feeling?: I was feeling pretty good and normal for the last two weeks. Then MS came back hard all weekend and today I napped for the first time in weeks I was so tired

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

I’m very lucky I no longer work and just take care of the house and dogs till baby comes. One year ago I quit my job in Finance after my Crohns Disease got so severe I barely was living a real life and needed surgery. After that my husband and I decided we could do just fine with me staying home and taking care of my health and that’s we did! I don’t regret it a bit but for sure there are bouts of boredom (which I’m every bit going to enjoy before baby) I read 2/3 books a week in my down time to keep me busy and sane.

  • Due date/W+D: June 22nd/12+2

Baby is the size of a(n): Toy soldier

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is on Thursday for our NT scan and NIPT blood draw. Getting anxious... DH and I both took the day off since we had time off to kill.

Rants/Raves?: Rave - Only 3 days of work this week, only two of those physically in the office! Hopefully means that this week will go by quickly! Rants - We went to a wedding this weekend so I'm pooped from all of the traveling.

How are you feeling?: Meh. Still fighting the nausea, now with added headaches and worse exhaustion. I am really really REALLY hoping second tri brings some relief. I'm sick and tired of feeling like crap and being so grumpy.

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? When I was growing up, my father was really into computers and got me into them at a very young age. Once I was in high school, I took some college computing classes offered by a local college and fell in love. I ended up going to that dame college for my IT degree. Also, similar to @ShadeofGreen816 I knew I would have a decently paying job out of college 🤷‍♀️

  • Whyyyy is it so damn hard for the navy to issue orders in a timely manner??

Because this would require people doing their jobs. Perhaps even working beyond 3:30 PM and finding some motivation. /bittersarcasm (but in all seriousness, I'm really sorry - hope he gets his orders ASAP)

    Due date/W+D: June 17 / 12w 5d

Baby is the size of a(n): Lemon?

Any appointments? Questions?: Jan 7th we get another U/S to see if they can see the baby's sex. FX

Rants/Raves?: Whyyyyyy is December going so quickly ahhhhhh

How are you feeling?: Still crappy. The MS isn't as bad or as consistent as it was, but its still lingering which is frustrating. I'm still really tired for the most part.

I feel like I'm at the stage where people are going to wonder if I'm pregnant or have just gained a few (or several...). This is beyond bloat - things are starting to just not fit. I tried on my ski pants yesterday and not only can I not keep them snapped at the waist, the hip and thigh area is so tight that I can't bend at the waist at all. I measured myself just now to order a new pair of ski pants and I've put on 5" in my waist and 3" in my hips in 3 weeks. WTH.

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? Ehh, I was lucky that after I got married MH was able to afford me the opportunity to start building my own business. I hate working for other people - I have a problem with authority  :D

     I was not that smart.
  • edited December 2018
@harrierwife The decent pay is great, but unfortunately I don't love my job. Thankfully, I really like the people that I work with, so they make it all better in the end. I am uber jealous of people who have a job that they LOVE. I will one day end up going into an entirely different career path, after I have that final meltdown.

ETA: I'm in the same boat of things not fitting. I admittedly don't own very many pants with buttons/zippers (pull on pants FTW). I threw on a pair of jeans this weekend that I had worn in a few weeks and could barely zip them up. I have not met with my trainer in a few months for a measure, but I'd bet I'm in the same boat as you right now.
  • @wearyfuzzball - Well, I majored in something that I LOVED, but couldn't find a job that paid enough for me to live with fewer than 4 roommates. The low pay coupled with the total bitch-work that I ultimately did wore me down in a matter of 3 years ($25k/yr in DC for 80 hours/week...). I learned really quickly that I should have "forced" myself into a field that paid.....and then used that job to fund my dream(s).

This might be an UO, but I think society has really done kids a disservice by telling them to use college to "follow their dreams". That really needs to come with a disclaimer.....and some financial education.

And re: clothing.....maybe don't go to your trainer for a measuring  :D I think the moral here is to just stick with leggings and belly bands.....

Any appointments? Questions?: NT/12 week appt this afternoon. I'm pretty anxious about it and hope it goes well

Rants/Raves?: rave: SO proposed over the weekend! (And I said yes, obviously lol)

How are you feeling?: not too bad today other than anxious for my appointment this afternoon

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? I kind of fell into it after college.  I started as a temp employee but got hired on full time and have moved from a servicing role to a quality/risk role which is what I actually enjoy doing.

  • Im not having troubles with clothes fitting (probably because i live solely in leggings) but I'm definitely already starting to look pregnant and I'm not ok with it. I'm hoping to make it awhile longer before I have to tell work but it's starting to get difficult.  Thankfully it's winter and I can wear heavy sweaters to try to hide it as much as possible right now.
  • congratulations @mra15 !!
  • Congrats @mra15 and good luck with the appt today!
  • @mra15 Congrats! So exciting!

  • @mra15 Congratulations!!
  • Due date: June 21, 12 weeks 4 days

Baby is the size of a Kit Kat

Any appts/questions: Gender reveal ultrasound scheduled for next Tuesday at my OB’s office

Rants/Raves: Failed my 1 hour glucose test so my MFM gave me the 2 hour last week, my fasting number is higher than they would like. He diagnosed it as Gestational Insulin Resistance and pre-gestational diabetes. Checking my blood sugar levels 4 times a day, food log etc. I was  bummed at first but I’d rather know now and do what I need to do to keep LO as healthy as possible. Also, I feel like I’m eating the best I ever have, and feeling good! Another plus to getting diagnosed so early - I should have lots of snacks and meal ideas to share by the time others get diagnosed.

GTKY: I am a food and travel blogger, I literally started by posting pictures of my lunch on the internet 😜 Not what I was expecting after 4 years of journalism school, but I have a lot of fun and have met some really cool people as a result.
  • Thanks ladies! My appointment went well and it was such a relief to see baby again!
@pigglesworth that's a bummer on the GD front but sounds like you've got a good attitude about it!
  • @mra15 Congrats!!! So fun!
  • @mra15 Congratulations!!

@pigglesworth GD is a bummer I had it with my first but controlled it with diet also. I wish I had all the information to follow it now. I'm having yo eat similarly thanks to MS. it's just easier on my stomach if I do and even if it comes back up it's less gross lol
  • Due date/W+D: June 22nd/12 weeks 6 days

Baby is the size of a(n): Scoop of Ice Cream lol

Any appointments? Questions?: Next appointment is my NT test

Rants/Raves?: I’m finally just now feeling comfortable enough to tell co workers and others about my pregnancy. I enjoyed keeping it to myself for a long time while learning about being a new mom but I was also avoiding unwanted advice and conversations from strangers. Now it’s full steam ahead.

How are you feeling?: Pretty decent finally, I’m looking forward to my energy coming back soon. Also this round ligament pain is no joke, sitting a desk for long periods of time doesn’t help either. Ugh!

GTKY - Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? I’m a project manager in the financial tech industry. I wandered into this field after college and I love it. I love finance and my company + coworkers are amazing.

  • @mrsa622 Hey due date buddy! I'm right there with you on telling coworkers, plan on letting them know next week
