Re: Symptoms 11/29-12/9

  • @distraction I'm with you on the gas! It's horrible!
A much better symptom is now I'm feeling baby kick and he/she is one active kiddo!

  • I was feeling intermittent baby kicks, but haven’t over the past few days. PGAL brain is kicking in.....

  • @midway_mouse Big hugs. I still only feels kicks really sporadically. There have been days where i feel more and some days none. I mostly get a rolling sensation but even that isn't consistent. The tech confirmed a healthy, very active baby so i'm trying to just go with it but it's hard. She also said she's head down which probably gives her legs lots of room to move about without me feeling a strong kick, or at least that's what i tell myself.

  • @midway_mouse it's still early for consistent movement! Can you take some time to drink something cold and sugary and lay down on your side for a while later? Try not to worry (easier said than done, I know)

  • @midway_mouse I definitely only feel baby some of the time. I'll go all day without feeling anything. Somehow it doesn't worry me, which is kinda crazy because I worry about everything else!
  • @midway_mouse, I'll just echo what others have said, that movement is still sporadic for me as well (22 weeks tomorrow).  I have an anterior placenta, so I figure that's some of it.  I try not to stress myself, but it makes me worry too even though I haven't gone through a loss (hugs).  For the most part I only feel him kick at night when I'm lying down to go to sleep.  Here's hoping you feel some big kicks soon!

  • Thanks for the reassurance. I can get into my head sometimes and worry like crazy! I am only 20 weeks, so it is pretty early to feel much.
  • This is between is hard. I have felt a little movement but I have an anterior placenta so mine is very sporadic right now. It is hard to not let your mind wonder! I will be happy when the movement is more consistent.
  • phoenix92885 I feel ya on the free boob job! :D
  • @midway_mouse I third the thing about movement not being regular at this stage! Especially depending on where your placenta is, it’s totally normal not to feel anything for stretches here and there. Never hurts to call your ob if you’re worried. And PGAL brain can really f* with you (I know). I have an anterior placenta and at 20 weeks I’m only now starting to feel movement on a daily basis, and it’s still really intermittent.

I had my anatomy scan yesterday and I think the tech bruised me. My stomach feels sore today.

Im with everyone on the back pain, though not as severe as some of y’all describe.
  • CTS in my dominant wrist/hand, acne on my upper stomach, and dandruff are my current symptoms.
  • Has anyone experienced intense pain in their nipples when you get cold? I did some googling, apparently it's called Nipple Vasospasm. If I get too cold my nipples will feel like they are on fire. I experience some discomfort even when I'm warm too though. From what I've read a lot of women deal with it while breastfeeding. Does this mean breastfeeding is going to be a miserable experience for me?

  • @phoenix92885 I didn't know it had a name but i had it happen to me last weekend. We were out at an outdoor shopping mall and it was freezing. The whole time i was walking around it felt exactly like my nipples were on fire and it seriously tripped me out. I can't really answer your question as far as breastfeeding, since i did very little of it. What i did do was painful but i don't know if was because of that or just because i did it very sparingly for about 2 weeks and they hadn't "toughened up" yet as my mom calls it. From what i understand BF in general can be painful when starting out but it's not supposed to stay painful, and that's generally a sign of some issue, ie bad latch etc...

I don't know how long till you get to the not painful part, or if the "toughening up" has a more scientific explanation/name. I really need to do more reading on the subject because i feel like it probably would have helped last time, even if i still ended up not being able to, i probably would have felt better about trying and quitting.

YEEES. I thought maybe it was just me. It's an awful pain!!

@thatbaintforbetty at the breastfeeding class I attended at the hospital I wil deliver at, the LC told us about how women used to be told to toughen up their nipples and that it is not recommended anymore because something along the lines of "It will hurt to begin with, but after a few weeks it should let up if your latch is correct so there's no real need to do it. But if you continue to feel pain, consult a LC or talk to Le Leche League because it should be a pleasurable experience."
My MIL told me she was told to toughen her nipples with a rough loufa, essentially scraping them raw. 😨
  • @mighty_montgomery thankfully I think my mom was talking about breastfeeding toughening them up and not doing it yourself cause that’s a slightly horrifying thought. Holy ouch Batman.

  • @thatbaintforbetty @mighty_montgomery I was told to twist and pull my own nipples (or have DH do it) to toughen them by a coworker a generation older than me!
  • @mighty_montgomery a loofa? That is horrifying.
  • Just throwing this out there.. I'm not sure if anyone has TERRIBLE restless legs like me, but it's so bad that i couldnt get any sleep for days. My mom and grandma swear by messaging Magnesium gel into your legs before bed. I've been using it and my restless legs are GONE! It works so great I thought I'd attach a pic if anyone is suffering like I was! Its 50% off right now too with free shipping so I think its only $7.99? Just passing it along! It's a lifesaver!

  • Whoever mentioned their legs falling asleep. Omg wtf? Just the last couple days my legs and feet are constantly falling asleep and tingling. So annoying! I can’t cross my legs anymore because it makes them fall asleep.
  • @professormama that was me! It's so obnoxious. And it's so random for me at least. I'll be standing cooking and boom. Numb legs.

It mostly happens to me when I’m sitting or laying down. But I honestly would be surprised if it starts happening all the time before too much longer. So ridiculous!! What a weird symptom. But apparently normal 🙄
  • @elmich3 Also helps for nighttime muscle cramps! I was getting horrible cramping in my legs in the middle of the night. Started taking calcium and magnesium combo and have had none since (my prenatal has no calcium so I’m happy to add some in).

  • Had my first terrible leg cramp around 4am this morning.  I had them a lot with my last pregnancy.  They are so painful and it freezes my whole leg!  I tried to stretch out my calf and it just made the shin cramp.

  • @MRDCle @professormama this has been happening to me this last week and it is so annoying. Especially when I’m working. So weird🙄
  • @phoenix92885 omg yes! Been happening this whole pregnancy and it’s the worst! Maybe we’ll be so conditioned to nipple pain that bf will be a breeze (wishful thinking?)
  • So I know from Dr Google that it's apparently normal, but anyone else experiencing leaking from their nipples already?  I noticed it after sex that apparently my boobs had leaked clear fluid onto DH's chest.  I'm not even 23 weeks, definitely never had it happen this early with my first!  :expressionless:

  • @kangstadt not yet this pregnancy but with DD I was leaking at 22 weeks!! I thought it was way too early but I think I'm close at this point, I can feel the heaviness starting already.

  • @kangstadt not leaking, but DD is definitely nursing colostrum and has been for weeks. I only was able to express it at 21 weeksish.
  • @angelob88 and @lyse01, at least I'm not alone!  Maybe leaking was the wrong term, they haven't spontaneously started leaking yet, but they were squished on DH's chest and I noticed moisture so then I tried squeezing them and they expressed a bit of liquid.  I hope I don't need to start wearing nursing pads this early but I may need to put them on my Christmas list, haha.

  • Current pros -
I can usually feel baby move daily now if I’m paying attention. I hope it gets more consistent for you all to help ease worrying!
    Not throwing up anymore 👍
Definitely more energy, I can’t sleep as much as pre-pregnancy.
My anxiety/depression has seemed a lot better recently

    Current cons -
PELVIC PAIN omg. I never thought I’d go from 20 weeks pregnant to feeling like 37 😪 it’s really hard to walk normal distances, and getting out of bed is really difficult unless I keep my legs together. My doctor is usually very nonchalant so I’m sure he’ll just say it’s normal and to take it easy 😣
Heartburn on and off, which I had never had before in my life

and possibly not pregnancy related but... 0% patience to listen to my husbands hobbies lately? 😂
  • @kangstadt I've experienced leaking already. First time, I woke up to my nipples being wet one morning. Second time, boyfriend and I were fooling around and he tasted something strange one day. I laughed my butt off and then we proceeded to pull out the breast pump and tested it out lol. (Yes we are that weird couple But it was for educational purposes only. Hahaha)

  • Side note, if any other mamas are suffering from sciatica/back/hip/any pain, I had a total "duh," moment earlier when I couldn't find my rice pack and googled how to make a no-sew one.  Take an old sock, fill with rice, tie shut.  Done.  I'm currently huddled in bed with my new heating pack on my low back and wishing I didn't feel 37 weeks preggers, as someone else mentioned above, haha.
