Re: December WTO

  • CD1 for me.  I feel like I'm already putting too much pressure onto this coming cycle to be PG before New Years.  Last year New Year's Eve was one of the worst nights of my life.  DS was doing badly after his heart surgery and I thought we might lose him.  Ugh.  Just not looking forward to this month, really.

  • I’m CD 10.  Not sure if we can try this month.  I will know more today.  But started temping and taking OPKS just is case.

@SpongeWorthy the pressure we put on ourselves is the worst.  I wish I could tell you something that would help that but I haven’t found it either.  Hopefully you can find a way to enjoy this holiday with DS.

  • Technically I go here but benched. I'm really frustrated that I'm "wasiting" these beautiful + OPKs. Sigh. I feel like I'm looking at the anniversary of first loss arriving without being pregnant.

@SpongeWorthy sp many hugs. So many. When do you guys take off for your trip?

@Mack2342 fx you get good news! Recovery still going well?
  • I'm not even sure if I should be here. I'm either on cycle day 37 or have skipped my AF completely this round and continued on from the start of a new cycle. Back to a weird state of limbo

@SpongeWorthy I get how you feel, pressure of the holiday's has already kicked in
  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k my guess would be CD37 unfortunately.
  • ugh..not the best at all
  • @prpl11butterfly recovery is going well.  I was given green light to basically do what I want.  I’m also off work until after New Years.   Dr wasn’t 100% if meds I’m still taking will be harmful if we try so I need to call pharmacist.  Will be doing that later.
  • CD7 here, just finished with AF. I'm going to start using OPK's tomorrow morning and BD'ing and see what happens. We're headed to WY to visit the IL's for Christmas on the 22nd and will be there for a full week so if I do end up getting a BFP while I am there, we'll have to tell them. They'd figure it out in .25 seconds if I turned down wine.

  • @prpl11butterfly Thank you.  We leave on the 19th.  It’s coming up fast!  So sorry for your loss anniversary coming up.  Do you know how long you will be benched?

  • @SpongeWorthy no idea. I'll know more when I see RE next week. My guess would be through Dec at least. And I don't tend to get preg easily so I doubt I will be by end of Feb.
  • Yay for being unbenched @Mack2342! Good luck!
  • Good luck @Mack2342

  • @Mack2342 yayyyyyy!!! That’s great news all around!!
  • Thanks ladies I’m excited to get back at it
  • So I go here. CD12 today I’m beginning to suspect that I ovulate even later than I’ve been thinking. Usually opks tell me I O around CD17 and every month faithfully we’ve BD well around and before then. But after the opk peak we stop because well...we’re exhausted lol, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s possible for my ovaries to be hanging on to the egg just a tad longer after the LH surge and we’ve been missing the actual ovulation all this time...anyone ever read or hear anything like this?
  • justarius Do you temp?  I'd highly suggest temping in case you're getting surges but not actually O'ing when you think you do. I think TCOYF actually mentions somethings about this?  But it's been a while since I read it, and wasn't one of my 'issues' so I don't remember...

  • @dpjennifer i’ve tried temping a few times but I’m a shift worker so it never really works because my temps are all over the place. The shift work messes with my circadian rhythm too much. Sorry...what is TCOYF?
  • @justarius I agree with @dpjennifer that temping will be very helpful for you. Having PCOS, you can definitely have false LH surges without ovulating.  Temping will tell you if you are actually ovulating or not.  TCYOF is the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

  • justarius Taking Charge of Your Fertility. highly recommended from the TTGP board and if you have PCOS as well, I'd definitely look into it.
Did you temp for entire cycles?  I know that I temped and I wake up at various times (some days at 4:20am, and some days at 7:30am, and some days at 9am), and for the most part I was able to still see the shift....
Unfortunately, without temping, you may not be able to KNOW for certain when you O'd....  cause OPKs just tell you when you're gearing up to O... temping would let you know AFTER you O'd...

  • @justarius I agree with the others that temping will help determine if you O’d.  I’m not on shifts but wake up at different times too but it seems similar. Also I think I’m TCOYF it suggests vaginal temping when you get wonky temps so maybe that would be the answer.  I also think some of the smart fitness trackers take temps for you and I think the ovulation bracelet does too and I think @dpjennifer has it.  Maybe that would work for you
  • @justarius I know some people don't like Ava, but I got pregnant 3 times using it. They all ended in MC, so there's that... But as far as showing me my fertile phase, it works very well for me. It's expensive, but worth it IMO.

    @ruby696 is Ava the bracelet?
I just found the temping didn’t work because it wasn’t just a matter of a few hours...if I work nights I wake up at 4pm the next day lol
but if the bracelet does it for me and takes the guess work out I’d be all for it. Plus it felt unfair that my alarm wakes my hubby and then the thermometer would beep and wake him up again :(

edit: sorry I do remember looking at the Ava but it says specifically on their website “not tested for PCOS” so I thought maybe that meant it wouldn’t work for me anyway so it made me nervous to spend that kinda money :S
  • @justarius Yeah... I've heard that it can still work with PCOS if your cycles are not too long. But if you have super long cycles, I can see not wanting to spend the money. If you have a Fitbit and monitor your resting heart rates that's helpful too. But its definitely not as accurate as temping.
  • @ruby696 my cycles have been 31 days while I’ve been taking femara so maybe if my doc gives me another 6months of the prescription (which I hope but doubt) then it might be worth it...
  • @justarius I just got the consult documents from my RE and it basically says they are not interested in temping. This is a little concerning to me, but my OB says the women is brilliant and gets great results, so I'm going with it. Anyway, they feel OPK's are sufficient. (Cue major side-eye from me). Anyway, so do you use OPK's? Maybe try that if you don't. And I think you can find pre-owned Ava bracelets if you don't want to pay full price for something that might not even work.
  • To @ruby686 's point, all the ladies I've talked to in TTGP say their RE wasnt interested in charts either. I suspect mine won't either.
  • @prpl11butterfly That makes me feel a lot better. I was legit nervous that I picked a crazy person.
  • @ruby696 I messaged mine to ask about new patient paperwork (like you fill out for every provider). Since they are over an hour away and close to the city, traffic will be crazy. Figured I could get a head start on it at home. Nope. No paperwork. Just me and my ID and ins card. Okay.....
  • @ruby696 yeah when I first saw my fertility specialist I talked to him specifically about my temping and how it wasn’t making sense to me. He’s the one that told me it’s because of my shift work. It makes sense to me seeing as your peak times for cortisol levels are 8am and 4pm and a person’s rhythms get all messed up staying up 12hrs when you should be sleeping. I actually even feel it when I wake up after nights I’m always hot and sweating and when I wake up normally from sleep I’m cold haha
I do use opks religiously haha I usually start around CD12 and go until I get my peak (usually around CD17 these days) but in the past I’ve always stopped, this month I’m going to keep going and see if I get a second peak or something strange
  • @prpl11butterfly Mine was literally one page with my name, address, DOB, ins info, and emergency contact. Same for MH. Uh...okay. I was pretty disappointed. I made sure my OB's office would have my file there before my appt. I'm trying to just trust the process.
  • @justarius Do you do OPK's once or twice a day? I do them once but I think I'm going to start doing them twice a day.
  • @ruby696 I did have to provide that but it was through their portal page. I saw your post about the IVF doc in Boston. If you end up over here, we will have to meet up 😉. I have to say I love being at the hub of medical excellence (even if they are cocky MFers, my dads throat surgeon was for sure but he save his life so....) But really, what is the name of this amazing doc?
  • @justarius I've yet to respond even though I've wanted to. I'm 32 and have no medical diagnosis. It takes us 6mish and I've had 2 MCs and a CP. We've been trying for 17m now. With having PCOS I would definitely continue using OPKs to see. I've read its extreamly common for PCOS ladies to have multiple surges before O.

@prpl11butterfly His name is Jesse Hade. She couldn't say enough about him.

ETA: But apparently I'm lame and he's at the Boston Medical Center in Arizona. Still, for cheap IVF and airfare maybe they can do a buy one, get one half-off, and we can meet for lunch 😂
  • @ruby696 I usually do once a day leading up to to when I think I’m going to surge and then twice a day when I get closer to.

@prpl11butterfly thanks for the encouragement! Hope the RE is more helpful than the paperwork is suggesting so far...
  • We well still here.  3 days of positive OPKs very slight temp rise this morning but thinking I probably won’t O this cycle
  • Ugh @Mack2342 I would keep an eye on things if you dont get a confirmed O. Maybe it will be a false surge now and you'll get another one that's successful in a few days.
  • @prpl11butterfly I took another OPK and it’s low now.  Maybe temps will continue to be on the rise and I can say I O’d.  I usually keep taking OPKs though when I have cycles like this
