I haven't seen any new threads in a couple weeks...if I'm wrong, I apologize

I went to the grocery store with a 4 year old, cooked dinner, packed lunches, and made cookies (for said 4 year old)...I feel like I deserve an award right now.

Last night my daughter woke up crying. I went in there and turned on her elephant (plays a song and puts stars on the ceiling for 45 minutes). She whined a bit and I left. Not sure how long later (less than 45 min because elephant was still on)she was crying pretty hysterically, went in there and she had puked in her bed, all over her blankets, and all over pinky pie. Had to clean everything while she continued to cry hysterically. And ended up sleeping on her floor next to her so she would go back to sleep. Has a fever of course, hasn't puked since last night but she's super whiney, still has a slight fever. We've been cuddling all day but I feel bad because I've been super unproductive. I'm hoping she doesn't have the flu but I'm pretty sure she has some form of it. I really hope my hubby and I don't get whatever this is. ;/

Oh no...that sounds horrible. I'm sorry. That reminds me of when DS1 got sick in the middle of the night. I had no idea one small person could produce so much vomit. It was pretty crazy how much came out of that tiny body. FX you guys don't get it and that little one heals quickly!

Question - I never bought a belly band and now my stomach feels like it weighs 900 lbs. I work from home and I’m not on my feet a lot, so I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to get one for the last four weeks. I went to Target today and was so achy by the time I got to the checkout. Should I get one? I’m 43, so I will obviously not get any future use out of it.

@fontgurrl sometimes belly support bands help, sometimes they don't. I'd probably buy one just in case it helps you feel more comfortable..worth a shot

@fontgurrl I had one with my last pregnancy, but I found it just shifted my uncomfortableness to my back more than being centered in my hips. But, it's worth a shot?

Not sure if this should be included in a different thread but have any moms here been positive for Group B Strep? Mine came back positive and I wanted to see if anyone had experience with the added antibiotics that are needed for birth. We're 37 weeks today so it's adding a tiny bit of extra worry.

@haycole I haven't been checked yet, but my good friend was and she said they're getting her a shot of penicillin before the baby is delivered. I didn't have it last time, so I don't have personal experience.

@haycole I have not been tested this time and was not positive last time, but I have Friends who have dealt with it. My understanding is it’s antibiotics every four hours during labor, but you’re allowed up and about other than that as long as you don’t have anything else going on. And you have to go in right away when your water breaks instead of potentially waiting.

Thanks @oaklandava and @MrsDho11 for the input. I have an appointment tomorrow and will find out more but wanted to see if anyone had experience with it. Hopefully I can provide info to someone else that may not know!

I haven't been tested yet but have read about it. Hoping I don't have it- for the sheer fact that I'm allergic to penicillin and I don't want to have to deal with that. It sounds like as long as you go in right away after your water breaks and you let them know as soon as you get there that mom and baby are just fine.

@haycole No advice because I'm dealing with this for the first time too. I was negative with my other two kids and GBS+ at my appointment last week. And I'm allergic to penicillin. So that's fun. I'm kind of freaking out.

Did they tell you what they're giving as an alternative? I'd be freaking out too. I always tell my hubby that if I'm ever in the hospital and unconscious he needs needs needs to remember to let them know I'm allergic to penicillin.

@VallieS86 There's a group of antibiotics that work similarly to penicillin called cephalosporins (I think). Apparently about 3% of people allergic to penicillin will have an anaphylactic reaction to this other group as well, but for the most part it's fine. Luckily, my reaction to penicillin was not anaphylaxis so I'm hoping I'll be OK.

@haycole when I asked my midwife about it, she said that the biggest inconvenience with it is having to come to the hospital so soon after your water breaks. She said if I were positive they'd give me antibiotics through an IV port every four hours, but if that was the only thing I was on the IV for (meaning no Pitocin, fluids, other meds, etc.), they'd leave the port itself in my arm but only reconnect me to the IV as needed for the meds. Seems pretty manageable to me if it comes to that.

@tosh24 I am allergic to penicillin too and my midwife told me that if I test positive they'd just give clindamycin or some non-cillin antibiotic. Penicillin is standard but the others work just as well.

@rooonilwaazlib Yes, I think there are a few other options, I just get nervous taking new drugs I haven't taken before since my body has very weird immune reactions to things, even things I've taken/eaten before. I've ended up in the ER with angioedema a number of times from drug allergies

If you test positive, you may want to ask your midwife about clindamycin since there is an increased risk of c. diff with the antibiotic (apparently high enough that a separate warning was issued about it). And from my research (I've done so.much.research in the last couple of days lol) clindamycin is not safe for breastfeeding, but maybe that's not an issue because of the short time frame in which they're giving it to you? I have so many questions for my OB now....
