Re: Week 3 Check-in w/o 12/3

  • Due date: 4/15 21 weeks

Any appointments? I had one last week. I gained 6lbs ( which I think is wrong, this nurse always fucks up my weight) I’m also no longer immune to chicken pox even though I was vaccinated and had the booster shots as a child. So that’s weird.

Questions? Is anyone actually eating healthy? I’m trying so damn hard but my cravings are out of control. All I want is cheeseburgers and nachos

Rants/Raves? My sister in law is ruining the holidays. She is Jewish and not one of us ever throw a fit about her bringing her traditions into MIL’s house or make rude comments. We are zero percent disrespectful and we actually enjoy celebrating Hanukkah with her. She for some reason has to make comments about Santa not being real to my 5 year old DD and then complain about what MIL buys her for the holidays... literally everyone gets the same thing. Just be fucking grateful and also if you try to ruin Santa for my kid I’m going to slap you.

How are you feeling? I’m getting over this horrible cold, so yay!

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy?

I loved Stella Luna. We own it and it’s one of DD’s favorites.

Any appointments? My GD numbers aren't where they should be so i have an appointment Wednesday for insulin.:(

    Questions? Nope.

Rants/Raves? It's been a rough week and it's only Monday.

How are you feeling? Tired. Sore. But finally not sick!

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? Island of the blue dolphins is one of the first books that comes to mind. I probably do have a copy somewhere.
    this is my backup acct.

I REMEMBER THAT BOOK BEING AMAZING!!! Now I need to go pick up a copy!
  • @thatbaintforbetty @harveyisaboysname I wonder if I still have the letter from Scott O’Dell that I got after sending an ode to that book (in prose...I am no poet).
  • Due date: 4/21

Any appointments? Questions? None until the end of the month. Happy to be left alone for a while!

Rants/Raves? MIL is driving both of us crazy. My mom is coming into town tonight so maybe we can complain about the other mother for a while. Rave, at 20weeks I feel baby kick every day!

How are you feeling? Pretty amazing when I’m not having mood swings, leg cramps, or indigestion!

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? I had so many I’m not sure I could pick a favorite. We go to the goodwill a few times a month and sift through the 10cent children’s books bins for awesome finds. Just got the “Baby Bear, Baby Bear What Do You See?” book the other day.

@harveyisaboysname I loved Stella Luna! Used to have the plushie and the book on tape. Will have to see if we can find a copy.

@thatbaintforbetty I adored that book and obsessed over it quite a bit. I think I still have my copy somewhere.

  • @harveyisaboysname I would tell your SIL to go find a hole to crawl into until January. I'd want to punch her if she ruined Santa for my daughter too.

@thatbaintforbetty that sucks about the insulin. :(

    Due date: 4/20

Any appointments? Questions? A/S on Friday! We know it's a little man but pretty excited to stare at him or 30-45 minutes.

Rants/Raves? Rave: Feeling him kick. All. Day. Rant: Sciatic pain can suck it.

How are you feeling? Overall, pretty good. I get exhausted in the evening and have no energy after dinner. Which is when DD wants to play. I feel bad. Mom guilt is real.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? I don't remember what I liked when I was really little but I remember loving The Babysitter's Club book series. I don't have them anymore but if I was ever able to purchase the originals, I would.

  • @harveyisaboysname what the fuck? Totally out of line on her part.
    Sorry re: insulin @thatbaintforbetty
DS loves Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? @sheepshepherdess!

    Due date: 4/15

Any appointments? Questions? Just had an appointment with my OB (everything is good) and I have an appointment with hematology on Thursday.

Rants/Raves? Like @mrstmoose FINALLY feeling legit movement. More baby A than baby B but I'll take it. Rant: I totally forgot how annoying this is but my legs keep falling asleep randomly. Happened all the time wtih DS and it totally slipped my mind until it happened the other day.

How are you feeling? Honestly pretty good until evening. By then my back hurts, I'm exhausted, I have indigestion, and I'm just D-O-N-E..

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? I can't remember any like....little little kid's books? But I also loved BSC and Little House books. I also had like, a younger version of Little Women that I adored. I know I have Little Women, and I'm sure I have the Little House books packed away in my parent's attic.

  • @MRDCle want to hang out and be lazy with me at night?
  • @harveyisaboysname I am eating more "healthy" out of necessity. With my gallbladder issues I have to keep my fat intake extremely low. I end up eating plain white rice, veggies, and lean protein for every meal. It is about the only thing I can stomach without getting violently ill. Although honestly I'm not sure it is really healthy. Since even healthy fat is out I have to eat way more carbs just to get the calories that I need.

    Due date: April 16

Any appointments? Questions? No appointments for another 2 weeks. I do get a "bonus" US next appointment to check on my low lying placenta. Hopefully it will move away from the cervix I'm just about over pelvic rest. But I'll take another chance to peek at my LO.

Rants/Raves? Love, love, love feeling LO every day!!

How are you feeling? Constant heartburn, bleh. Honestly eating is a chore that I dread. Unfortunately if I wait too long I get heartburn anyway. I just can't win! Plus side I've only gained 1 lb since I started seeing the OB (up about 8 lbs total from pre-pregnancy).

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? Blueberries for Sal was a favorite picture book. Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew when I got into chapter books.

Any appointments? Questions? I had my anatomy scan last week & a drs appointment next Monday. Having so much space between the scan & talking to my OB about the results has been a little nerve wracking.

Rants/Raves? I've been feeling him move a lot more since last week!

How are you feeling? Pretty ok. I started exercising more & doing yoga more frequently which has helped my general discomfort a lot.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy?

I was also a huge Stellaluna fan. It was the first book I bought for DD when I was pregnant & we still have that.

Other than that, I "grew up" with Harry Potter from 5th grade on and I still have (and reread religiously) my copies from then, lol.

  • @wildcosmiclove if there would've been concerns, they wouldn't wait so long to tell you.
  • @harveyisaboysname I genuinely wonder how pregnant women eat healthy. I ate pretty clean before getting pregnant and since I still have pretty terrible aversions, the though of lean protein like chicken or turkey and almost anything remotely green or leafy makes me feel like I’m going to lose my breakfast🤢

Any appointments? Questions? I think I have an appointment in a couple weeks but somehow it didn’t make it in to my calendar so I need to call and confirm...

Rants/Raves? Well, my DH officially left out of the country for a three week work trip (longest we have ever been apart) last night after work I set out to shovel our monstrous driveway... our neighbors watched me as I slipped on ice and fell hard and did absolutely nothing... I was pissed.
I’ll join in on raving about feeling my LO. It’s the coolest feeling!!

How are you feeling? My back and hip hurt from my fall last night... but other than that I’m feeling good! Not terribly uncomfortable yet. I can feel the 2nd Tri energy leaving me slowly and I’m bummed about that.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? Do you still have a copy?
I loved lots of books.. but one I have special fondness of is called Love you Forever (I think) my mom recently gave me a copy as a gift, so I still have it.
  • @frenchfrymama you should call your OB about the fall! I fell twice on ice with my first pregnancy and they had me come in for monitoring each time. They definitely want to know if you've had any sort of fall.

And be forewarned - reading Love You Forever to your kid will absolutely WRECK you.

Any appointments? Questions? Next Tuesday is my US.  I'm so excited to see LO.  We are keeping the gender a surprise!!

Rants/Raves? Super excited for the holiday season.  I love the spirit of giving.  Warms my heart.

How are you feeling? Pretty good.  All of my tops are turning into belly T's.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy?  Favorite Children's book. hummmm.  Probably Where the Wild Things Are.  We don't have a copy of it.

  • Due date:  4/18

Any appointments? Questions? Not this week :)@harveyisaboysname thanks for the dinner inspo, now I'm craving nachos :D

Rants/Raves? I'm still puking occasionally, so I have resigned that this is just my fate for this pregnancy.

How are you feeling? Other than the random episode of vomiting, it's all second tri symptoms here. I'm wore out by the end of the day, the occasional headache, and feeling her move every day now. The movement is the best part, makes up for all the ick.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? Stellaluna! And I still have my copy, it's already in her nursery <3

Any appointments? Questions?  Lots of appts now, officially classified as high risk. Today I had appt with MFM, tomorrow I have my anatomy scan, Tues appt with my OB. I also have to do a Harmony test this week

Rants/Raves? I'm sick of all the weird, vivid, and disturbing dreams

How are you feeling? Tired all the time but otherwise pretty good

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy?

Miss Suzy, I do have a copy but DD isn't into it yet

  • @MRDCle I honestly didn’t even think about that! I’m feeling better today than yesterday... my back feels a lot better. I landed on my hip really so I think I’m fine. Been feeling baby move alllll over the last two days😊
  • @frenchfrymama I fell down the stairs and broke my foot when I was pregnant with DD. I had a Doppler and she was far enough along I could feel her move so I wasn’t too concerned. However since I had to go in anyway for my broken foot, they sent me to L&D for some minor monitoring but I didn’t think it was necessary and they were really casual about it too. But they did want to put it in my file. You’re probably fine, but I’d bring it up to them at some point too. But besides that, I’m sorry your neighbors just watched! Wtf.
  • Due date: April 18 (21 weeks today)

Any appointments? Questions? I had my anatomy scan yesterday and everything looks fine with baby, except they couldn't get a good view of the heart. I'll have another ultrasound when I go back on the 28th and my OB told me if they still can't see what they need to at that point I may be referred to a high-risk doctor. Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that. Otherwise, she's growing right on track and looks great.

Rants/Raves? I mentioned this in the SEXtistics thread, but we had done an elective gender ultrasound at 16 weeks at a boutique place, and were told I'm having a boy. I learned at the anatomy scan yesterday that the baby is most definitely a girl. My family all got a good laugh out of it. I'm one of 4 girls, my sister has 4 girls, and I have DD... it's a long-running joke that there will never be a boy in our family.

Thankfully I hadn't painted the room or gotten any big items yet, but I had gotten a few things. My sister is currently about 7 weeks pregnant, and I know that she likes the items I got, so I figure I'll hold on to them until we know what she's having and then give them to her if it's a boy.

Now the hard part -- deciding on a name. Coming up with a boy name was so easy for us both pregnancies, and we can't use either of those names. DD is Eloise, and I love classic, kind of old-fashioned names.

How are you feeling? Still exhausted all the time, and I have a cold that I can't kick. I'm blaming the weather -- the temperature has been all over the place here lately.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? As a kid, Stellaluna and Carmina Come Dance were my favorites. I don't currently have copies of either but would love to get both for DD.

  • @booksandlace why are you classified as high risk now?

@chrissdee how far along were you when you had the elective ultrasound done? That would be a crazy discovery!
  • @chrissdee send your boy names this way - we're still in the market for one :D

  • @HGRich ouch!! I will definitely bring it up at my appt in a few weeks. Thanks😊
  • @mrstmoose I was 16 weeks at the elective ultrasound.
@MRDCle With our first, Noah Robert was the boy name we picked out. This time, it was Robert Matthew. (Robert is my dad's name, we wanted to honor him.)
  • Damn. We have a Noah and THREE existing Roberts in our fam.

  • @MRDCle lol sorry I wasn't any help.
  • That's OK! We still have time ha.

  • @mrstmoose I had a 2nd trimester screening blood test that came back as 1:100 for Down syndrome
  • Due date: 4/21

Any appointments? Questions? Anatomy scan everything looked ‘beautiful’ which was a huge relief after my first pregnancy was an early miscarriage I was waiting to tell work and some people until after the 20 week mark

Rants/Raves? Like everyone- love feeling the baby kick it’s so cute just a little reminder ‘hey I’m in here’ I love it

How are you feeling? Good more energy though I kind of stopped exercising should probably start up again  self conscious with my customers at work because I still look either fat or pregnant and I haven’t shared the news with everyone, lower back pain at night

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy? Rapunzel nope! Will be Starting from scratch with the baby books. :)

  • Due date: April 20th

    Any appointments? Questions?
We saw the midwife on Tuesday and got to listen to the babies on the doppler, they were tumbling around and having a good ol time in there.

    Rants/Raves?
Having a good period right now it feels like. My ligament pains are a little milder, my best friend was just here visiting from Toronto, and on Monday I started working 80% on a new research project at the University which will employ me until the babies are born, so that feels good too, to have a bit more work safety. On the rant side of things, I'm so tired of my mother wanting there to be a baby girl and talking about twin boys as a second hand choice. It really hurts my feelings, and now it feels like I don't want to tell them the gender at all.

    How are you feeling?
More energy this week and busy at work, but also having trouble getting out of bed and whenever I stand up from my desk my belly hardens and it's a bit hard to walk.

GTKY: What was your favorite children’s book when you were little? do you still have a copy?
It's a Swedish book so you won't know it, but it was about aa boy the doesn't want to go to bed, and he gets to look in his grandmothers glasses, and she tells him he can see how all the different animal kids are going to bed.
  • @honey_suckle So glad for the work security, but I’m sorry about your mom. What’s the name of the book? Sounds completely adorable!

I’m also having this hard belly problem, don’t understand it but it just started in the last week or so.
    Me: 29 DW: 44
  • @sheepshepherdess translated it would be called "I don't want to go to bed". It's written by Astrid Lindgren which is the author of Pippi Longstocking. Adding some pictures from the book just for fun because they're so cute.

@MRDCle were also stuck in the jungle (more like a desert) of boynames.   :( currently this is the shortlist, but it keeps changing:
    Isak
    Oskar
    Alvin
    Alvar
    Morgan
    Viktor
    Lewis
    Edwin
Darwin (this might be a bit too much, but sounds so cute i think)

Family names that might get mixed in there too:
    Anders
    Harold/Harald

@honey_suckle we have a Louis already and Oscar and Isaac are on our shortlist well! Not quite spelled the same but similar ideas :) I also really like Viktor and Edwin from your list as well!
