  • @eatinwatermelonseeds sounds like a fun day yesterday!

DH is still out of town for work this weekend and did some things last night that made me super angry so  going to try to not dwell on it and might take DS to the mall after he wakes up. Tonight is the Santa Clause parade and I really want to take him but I'm going to see how the weather is. Its currently snowing so we will see how much it snows before tonight. Other than that just cleaning house today and tomorrow.
  • The weather is nasty here (ice/snow/wind) so no plans today other than enjoying a family day indoors.
  • @Stormiewinter hahahah that looks like my counter when I tried to make cookies with DD. I had such dreams of it being a fun time
  • I am sitting here catching up on all the posts and avoiding doing the assignments that are due to tomorrow. I decided to take my last two BSN classes next term so that I will be done in the beginning of March instead of the end of April. I will have a super busy 8 weeks starting in January.

  • @Stormiewinter that's about what mine looked like today as well. We made banana muffins to take with us this weekend.

We're headed to a Polar Express train ride tomorrow. Since it's a couple
hours away we're driving up today and spending the weekend in a cabin near Mount Rainier.
  • Today was our town's biggest event of the year. They have a monthly festival and they're always a pretty big deal, but this was THE event. Like, people drive from hours away, attendance is usually 100,000. It was the 30th annual Horse and Carriage Christmas Parade. And of course, it rained all day. It let up and was just misting during the parade so it wasn't the best weather but could have been worse. We also had the girls in our Keenz wagon with the rain shield so they were cozy. Generally they have around 80 carriages but they had a little less because of the weather. It was still a lot of fun and we had a great view in front of the historic inn in town. I wish we could go to the night parade because it's supposed to be spectacular but the rain is supposed to let up so it will be a madhouse. But given that our town is a legit Hallmark town, it was so picturesque. I love that we get Christmas in a quaint small town!!!

  • We went to breakfast with Santa this morning. DD has fun singing songs and dancing with the kids. But was not a fan of Santa. Per the UO thread this week, here’s a picture of a crying kid with Santa 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also +1 on the nasty weather. Freezing rain and ice all over the place. We finally decorated the tree this afternoon, but DH and I are going a bit stir crazy.  and I are
  • So, my other Instagram is all keto oriented and I'm following like 400 keto pages. But I'm bored with that since I'm not keto anymore lol. I know this has come up before but can't possibly imagine where that thread is by now lol. Any family or home decor Instagrams you guys follow?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds I love following the Holderness family and The Gardner Quad Swuad. Followed that family through their entire IVF journey. Also, Magnolia, Chip and JoAnna Gaines, and the Property Brothers are my favorite home accounts.

  • Has anyone had any success selling once-worn bridesmaid dresses online anywhere? I have like 3 I need to get rid of.

  • Been super busy the last two days. Yesterday the girls had the day off for parent teacher conferences and we had DH’s company Christmas party. It’s always such fun and they are so generous. I got the most comfiest blanket and a Lush gift card. So excited about the gift card. Then today was DD2’s birthday and her party. She is six today. Gah! Stop getting older!! Looking forward to tomorrow and decorating the tree and house for Christmas.

  • @robyn2201 our DDs are exactly the same age. My DD1 turned six yesterday too! Happy birthday to yours!

  • @DuchessOfCambridge enjoy your day! A day with the parents/grandparents is always awesome!

  • I went on in a pub crawl with like 20 of my SO’s friends I never met before. I was the DD. It was fun but you know, not as fun as it would’ve been if I’d been able to drink.

  • @sleepy33 lol! But just think... You're the most popular person now that you carted around their drunk asses! You gained major points and karma!
  • @DuchessOfCambridge that is so sweet of your mom to bring you guys all that food. You know you are loved when...haha

Me and DS went to the santa claus parade last night and it was freezing but good. He loved it. He just stared at all the people and lights. I'm a sucker and bought him a light stick for $10 (it a probably worth like $2) because everytime the people selling them walked past he would freak out and go "ooo ooo ooo!" It was cute. DH gets home from work tomorrow and I have a busy work week so I'm going to try and get the house cleaned today.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge enjoy! Neither of our mothers is like that lol. My mom is closest to it, but still not really.
  • I was so so deadset I was not going to cloth diaper this time, but decided to check out AliExpress (I've used some from them in the past from friends, they didn't deliver here back then. But they're super cheap and so freaking cute).

I'm pretty sure we need these.
  • @mrskoz428 they have all in ones, but these are pockets. I've been nervous to try AIOs because I've heard varying reviews on them.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds I know daycares require all in ones. Those are really inexpensive! I really want to try but I have never heard of that website. Have you used it for other things??

  • @mrskoz428 oh I didn't know that, interesting. I have not. A close friend of mine has bought loads of things (including diapers) from there. She swears by it. Just read the reviews, and expect relatively long shipping times (though I've heard from a couple people that the diapers came quicker than they expected).
  • @mrskoz428 I just messaged her for a direct quote on quality lol. I know there are Facebook pages for this website where people get together and buy in bulk for super cheap.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds I don’t plan on cloth diapering but those prints are super cute  <3
  • @beccaneu in my last pregnancy group, we did this birthday box exchange for the babies' first birthday. The girl I got to exchange with was SUPER passionate about cloth diapering and since I had been considering it, she sent me about 5 cloth diapers. The prints were SO cute and it was relatively easy to do, so I did it occasionally (usually when I was too lazy to buy diapers). If she had never sent me those, I probably wouldn't have done it at all. But now I'm considering it again because I'm remembering how stinking cute they are.
  • I really want to cloth diaper

  • @brie_and_almonds That’s neat our girls are the same age and share birthdays! It’s a little crazy having her birthday after Thanksgiving and the start of the busyness of Christmas, but it was nice to snuggle a newborn all day and watch lots of Christmas movies.

  • My all time favorites are the Bumgenius Freetimes. They are an all in one with an attached insert only on one end, so no stuffing pockets, and short dry time which is awesome. But they are on the more expensive end, close to $20 for one. They are the top two in the pic I posted. I got those two as part of a recent “seconds” sale by Cottonbabies and I think I paid only $15 each. They are “seconds” because there are slight defects, which do not affect function. The grey one, the fabric is pulled slightly on the bottom right. I can’t find anything wrong with the blue one. They don’t make the majority of my stash because they are more expensive. But I’m slowly adding in more whenever Cottonbabies has another sale.

I also like the Bumgenius 4.0’s and I have some of those. But you they are pockets and I hate stuffing diapers after awhile. I also have some Alva Baby diapers to round out my stash and fill in gaps. They are cheap and have cute patterns. But they are made in China which I know some people don’t like the idea of.

Newborn size, we did Thirsties covers with Imagine prefolds and a few Alva newborn pockets for at night time. The two bottom diapers in my picture are Thirsties covers.

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds.  It just seems like a lot of added work and laundry to deal with on top of everything else that comes with a newborn.  I could see maybe trying it once their in the toddler stage and going through few diapers in a day though.
  • @robyn2201 did you use an extra layer on the all-in-ones? I've heard the all in twos (I think they're called) where you add the inserts on top and can just switch that out if there is only pee in the diaper. I was wondering how those work with switching out the liners...
