@megpants209 good to know! I didn't realize they were connected. I'll have to check them out! I wasn't thrilled with the cribs in person at buy buy baby. Have you found any good rockers?
@jgrodo I wanted to like the buy buy baby cribs so much but I just didn’t. The other place I was surprisingly disappointed with was Crate kids. I love Crate and Barrel for their regular furniture but thought their kids section was just ok. I haven’t found a rocker... not even sure where to go since I definitely want to try them out in person first. Thinking of going for a wingback style though. You?
@megpants209 same!!! I was so disappointed to not like them or the crate and barrel ones. I was looking at Macy's to but I'd really like to see it person first. I thought maybe it was just the buy buy baby closest to me that was meh. I prefer a recliner to one with an ottoman and they didn't have any of those at the buy buy baby either and the ones at PB seem so expensive. But I want to test in person first too and there isn't a PB kids I don't think near me. I like the idea of wingback!
For those struggling on the crib front, especially with the fact that you cannot check out in person many of the more affordable options, I thought I’d put in a review for this lower price point one which we have: Fisher-Price Newbury 4-in-1 Convertible Crib, Misty Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QJT9494/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CPT8BbRVTF6QN After two years it is still like new and will be great for DS2. Also, ordering important things online is always scary, but when it came, one of the side panels had a chip in the paint (something some might not have noticed but I wanted it perfect), and I literally just told them what piece it was and they sent a new one to me and told me just to toss the other one. Could not have been easier.
We were doing a safari theme but I think it is turning to more of a color scheme with animals. Got a crib yesterday online(2nd hand but 20 bucks forna convertable crib and mattress). Feeling excited. DH is going to repaint the crib to match our colors. Only furniture we need for the nursey is a glider and changing table now!
@purplebeauty19- Holy cow, that’s lovely and looks like you devoted a lot of energy to it! Nice job! I really need to get it in gear. The soon to be nursery currently is still a cluttered office. By this time with my first, the nursery was painted and empty, ready for furniture.
@becks_726 I’d probably try to do double hanging rods with baskets underneath. Bonus if you could squeeze a shelf or 2 between the hanging space but high enough to keep baskets on the floor.
H and I put together the dresser yesterday! It’s the only large piece of furniture baby will get for now, he’s staying in our room and won’t have a nursery/bedroom for a while. Eventually H’s office will be turned into a nursery (unless we move first). Not even buying a crib yet, we’re getting a bassinet first and then a crib once the bassinet it too small. Feels like progress though!
The dresser we wanted at IKEA was sold out and won’t be restocked for a while, so we ended up with a different one. It’s a little taller, but will still work well with a changing pad on top. Putting it together was a pain though! Thankfully H and I are both 12 years old on the inside and had fun with all the assembly innuendo (“no, you have to ram the peg into the smaller hole. It’s a tight fit so don’t be afraid to use force” etc). Anyway, this is the one we got:

Another vote for a VERY reasonable online option for a crib... Union 3-in-1 Convertible Crib from Amazon (https://a.co/d/01174zL). Used it for DS and will use it for this new guy too. Easy to put together, small footprint, sturdy. Truly no complaints.
@becks_726 - I'd go w/ at least 1 shelf and then, if you can fit it, a storage unit, like a Closetmate Cube Organizer. We have one in each kids room and then one in the living room for toy storage.
@becks_726 my first kid, I had tough clothing storage options as well, I can't find a picture, but what I did was I bought the large open bins with labels from The Container Store, but really you can buy them anywhere, I just happen to have lived near a Container Store and the price was the best I could find. I had a bin for onesies, a bin for pjs and sleepsacks and then a bin for pants. This method worked until he hit about 18 month old. Then his clothes became too big for the method.
With my first, in our old tiny apartment, I only had a changing table (that I got at a garage sale for $15, frugal award goes to me!), for clothes and everything, so the lower shelves were pretty jammed, but luckily tiny people have small clothes.
@sjnsjnsjn when we were at Ikea, we walked through the kid’s section and I mentioned to H that I really liked the bins they have for toy storage, and that we should get those once baby is older. H looked at me and said “can’t he just have everything in the dresser we’re getting, toys included?” ... Oh my sweet summer child.

I must say, your ladies' nursery's are beautiful! I hope to get down to business after my two main showers in December. Will share pics then, but hope other's keep posting since it keeps me inspired

Still in the process of getting the room painted for our little guys nursery. We do have a theme but trying to get it all together is a hassle. My mom and sister are suppose to come over on Friday to paint the room for me and if not I will be forcing SO to do it so I can start putting the decorations up! I’m ready to have his room ready besides clothing put away, the dresser (taking SO Aunt’s old dresser which is being delivered in a few weeks), and the rocker (which we haven’t ordered yet)
@grebretso- Haha, hilarious. He will learn! Currently the front half of our living room is a play area, with yes, ikea shelving and bins on one side for toy storage, but also a duplo train set and it’s parts all over the place. The toys can take over!
@grebretso I have a friend due April who has explicitly told people no toys. Apparently her child won't have toys, they can play with things in the house like pots and pans. I sent her a very modern minimalist toy website just to keep in mind if that doesn't work out.

@sjnsjnsjn Yep, that's what I remember from my own childhood. Toys everywhere x4 since there were four of us. Ideally I want to limit things a liiittle bit with my kid, but if I'm being realistic I know we'll be drowning in toys at some point!
@smallbutmighty77 Ha, that poor baby! She'll come to her senses once baby leaves all her precious household items and decorations covered in snot, drool and bite marks.
I know someone who specifically said no plastic toys for their kids, only old fashioned wooden toys because they went better with their aesthetics. Really? You're having kids so they can match your decor?? I'm all for having a limited amount of toys if you can, but you have to let the kids have some fun too!

I have a friend whose husband will not let their 2 yo have any toys that make noise. If someone sends them one he either makes her return it or takes the batteries out/‘fixes’ it so it won’t make any sound (even though he plays video games most of the day with the sound on full blast.). He also barely lets his son have any toys in general. All his kid’s toys probably fit in one small box. He’s kinda an asshole anyway but man does that really irk me. Let your kid be a kid!
@thechickendance hmm the ones at buy buy baby we're like 650 so Ideally less then that. I'm not sure how much to say as a cap that would still be reasonable, is saying like 300 range reasonable?
@jgrodo I am unreasonably pleased with our glider/recliner we got online from Walmart. I think it was $299 CAD so should be good if you're in the US for price?
Sorry for Canadian website. If similar ones exist on the US site I would go for it. My husband slept in it the past few nights while I've been sick lol and if I end up with a c-section I probably will too
I didn't even think of Walmart. They don't seem to be selling that chair stateside but I'm now looking at all their chairs! Thanks. I was neverous with Wayfair bc of their return policy. I need one that reclines we have very limited space! Thanks for the sigsuggest though!

This is what I'm starting with, sorry it's not a better photo.

@becks_726 cubbies and bins is my go to. I have a lot of hanging storage also and I'm annoyed by it already lol
