Re: STM+ Check In Week Of 11/6

  • @lovelybabybumpz Glad to hear your surgery went well! Hope your recovery is quick and easy.

@anonellis I am also AMA and they said we should consider the CVS if one of the genetic screenings came back positive. I went to a genetic counseling class where they went over the CVS. My OB has not mentioned anything about it and I just meet with her again today. We are still waiting on results from my genetic testing.

  • @lovelybabybumpz so glad to hear things went well!

@GeorgiaGirl1230 it takes a little tweaking but you guys will find a routine that works for you. When ds2 was Newborn we would all do stories before bed and I would usually nurse him while we read together. Since dh and I lie with the boys until they fall asleep (fffc?), dh and I would put both boys down together. Then put baby in the crib once they were asleep. When ds2 was older and more awake we had to adjust to baby time. Now that they are older they have baths together, then each pick a few stories and then we put them both to bed in our room and move them once they are asleep. I am on my own for bed times all fall and often when dh travels so that was the best way to handle putting 2 kids to bed  at the same time. It’s not for everyone but I love our pre sleep snuggles.
  • I need some advice, ladies! We have the potluck mentioned above that I'm really excited for. DD has a bit of a runny nose and I now have her cold. I'm not bad at all, and DD is fine too except that her nose will all of a sudden start running like crazy (but then she'll go 4-8 hours or longer with NOTHING). The event will be mostly daycare kids so I'm generally like, "it's a cold, it happens." This has oddly not come up before as an issue. Do I have to stay home for a cold?

  • @kvh22 as long as no one has a fever, I think you're good. A cough would also be a bit concerning (but this is mostly as a mom whose baby gets really terrible respiratory effects from getting sick). No fevers and you're both up to it, I wouldn't stay home. You can't stay home for the entire cold and flu season.
  • How many kids do you already have and ages? I have a 4 year old daughter.

How are your other kids doing this week? My daughter is doing great, she is currently in Delaware with my mom for the weekend!!! YAYYYY

Rants and Raves! I have been grabbing a chicken noodle soup from WAWA for the past week because that's my newest craving. So I had my husband go to one WAWA and they didn't have it. Then I went to another WAWA and guess what....THEY DIDNT HAVE IT EITHER. I'm trying to figure out why wouldn't they have chicken noodle soup in the middle of November in Maryland. So annoying. I had to settle for campbells chicken noodle soup and as we all know that chicken noodle soup is a joke.

GTKY: Is your family complete after this baby or do you want more (how many total)? We have decided if this is a boy we may be finished. But if its another girl, we are going to try one more time for a boy. I would love to be a mother of 3 but I will be 29 when this baby comes, and I don't know if I'm up to being pregnant in my 30s. We shall see, the sex of this baby determines everything lol.

  • @kvh22 I agree with @eatinwatermelonseeds that runny nose alone doesn't need to keep you home. That doesn't bother me in other kids when I go to parties, etc. It's only when accompanied by fever, nasty cough, rash, or something like that that I would be annoyed.

  • STM (C-section mamas). Is your c-section scar starting to hurt? Mine feels a little funny and it actually hasn't bothered me in quite some time. I thought I just pulled something or worked an ab muscle accidentally
But it's still a little tender. Anyone else?

  • @lovelybabybumpz I don't have a csection scar (so it's not quite the same) but from April 2017 to April 2018 I had 3 laparoscopic abdominal surgeries. The incisions (i have 7 sites, as I think they went through the same hole 2 more times instead of creating new incisions) are much less severe, but I've definitely started feeling pulling in the ones closer to my pelvis and they're starting to hurt a bit. Not issues I've had in a long time. My first surgery had the largest incision and that's the one that's starting to hurt. I think it may just be due to abdominal growth.
  • @lovelybabybumpz I have felt some tugging around my incision.  Mine healed really quickly and I barely have a scar but I definitely feel...something.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds @anonellis
Thanks. I was a little worried because I laid on my stomach for my surgery, but that was less than an hour and I still sleep on my stomach at night sometimes. I think it's just growing pains, but I'll check with my OB later this month as well.

  • @truth_trust I am so jealous of your WaWa soups! I used to live in Maryland and miss it something fierce!
  • @misskimsue @Stormiewinter thank y’all! DD is a relatively early bedtime too. She’s asleep by 7:30, but it’s even better if by 7. I’d want to maintain that for sure. I really like the idea of doing the story times together. Bonding time. I’m hoping, during the infant phase, that I can just bring DS’s infant tub into her bathroom while she’s in the big tub and DH and I can team to do both at once.

  • @lovelybabybumpz mine was a little tender last week but nothing terrible and nothing since.

Does anyone else think they can feel baby? I keep thinking I am but then remember I'm 11+4 so probably it's gas bubbles 😂

  • @GeorgiaGirl1230 I think I posted the link in the Registry Recs thread, but for DD2 I got an AngelCare bath support instead of the infant tub and she bathed right in the big tub with DD1 from the very beginning.  It was super long-lasting for us, eventually acting as more of a bath seat once she could sit up on her own.  It kept her from slipping or tipping over so I was able to handle bath time solo (DH's unpredictable work schedule made this a necessity) and I could wash DD1's hair or get her cleaned up without worrying about keeping a hand on DD2 the whole time.

I have thought I've felt movement a few times, but I'm a little farther along (15+1). It also happens so infrequently that there's no time to investigate and confirm. It's nothing definitive though, just flutters. And again, could be gas.

  • @misskimsue @eatinwatermelonseeds thanks! There were 4 other babies (out of 13 total including DD) with runny noses so I'm glad we went!

Not feeling movement yet, although had something just once a few days ago where I was like "was it?" But I'm only 13+2 today so probably wasn't.

@lovelybabybumpz glad your surgery went well and that it's now behind you!

  • I'm 13+5 and I've been feeling what I suspect are flutters for a week now.
  • I’m 12 weeks today and for about the last week, I feel like I can feel little tiny pricks just under my belly button. I felt DD at 13+4.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge We were talking about feeling baby in last week's Group 2 check-in. I think it's normal for STM+ to feel movement pretty early sometimes. I'm coming into 14 weeks and have felt flutters for a little while now.
