@gollygeeitsamy Thanks for starting all these, I forgot it was Monday.
Due date/Weeks: 4/21, 16w1d
Any appointments? Questions? Next appt is 11/28 for a blood test, a talk with another midwife in the practice, and an ultrasound where hopefully we find out the sex! Question: our practice offers this "quad screen" blood test at this time that tests again for Down syndrome, trisomy 18, but also spina bifida. But they say it has a high chance of false positives and negatives. Anyone else know about this particular blood test and if it's useful at all? I think my insurance covers it so no worries there.
Rants/Raves? My "obamacare" subsidy will be taken away in 2019 because I qualify for Medicaid due to an expansion in my state. So basically I'm being forced off my plan and onto Medicaid, since I won't be able to afford my current plan without the subsidy. At least all my costs will go down overall and I can keep seeing all my same doctors. As a side note, there is a full time job on the way for me, but it will take another few years, some grants, and someone else's capital to start the operation. We have all of these things in the works, but it takes time, so in the meantime I'll try not to spiral into panic mode.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Back pain/sciatica issues have really flared up this week. Doesn't seem to matter what I do! But just mild right now. Worst part is I keep having these "down" days where I have no appetite and can't function, like a mini depression, and then after another day or two they lift and I'm back to normal. I'm guessing it's hormonal. Anyone else experiencing this?
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Oh my god, this is hard. I think free coffee has to win this one.
@sheepshepherdess - if it says it has a lot of false positive/negatives, I would just get everything at the a/s and then it's clear. I also go through days where I have no appetite. You might want to talk to your doctor about your feelings though, depression is common during pregnancy!
Due date/Weeks: 4/20 - 16.2 weeks
Any appointments? Questions? We had an elective u/s on Saturday and found out we are having a baby boy! The next appointment with the OB isn't until the day before Thanksgiving, whatever that date is! No questions, thankfully my appetite keeps coming back in small doses. I still haven't gained any weight though.
Rants/Raves? Starting to feel him every day or every other day, so that's my rave!
How are you feeling? Overall, pretty good. I'm excited for nesting to kick in.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? I guess coffee? I'm not really sure.
Rants/Raves? Still not feeling much movement, waiting very impatiently...
How are you feeling? My gallbladder issue is back! I am so bummed especially since I am going to Disneyland next week and was looking forward to eating all the things! Instead it is low fat/no fat diet for me. Boo! Other than that I am feeling a lot better. Much more energy. I finally unpacked and organized my craft room/office this weekend (we moved in March, lol) and hung up the curtains. My grumpiness at the clutter and disorganization is finally higher than my desire to curl up and hibernate!
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? This is hard. I think it would depend on the coffee quality. I feel like a lot of places have "free coffee" but it is some sort of terrible drip coffee. Now If I could get an awesome latte or nice espresso drink whenever/where ever then definitely coffee!
Any appointments? Questions? My next appt is a week from today and I'm contemplating asking my OB to see if she will just take a quick peek for the sex, lol. She has an US machine right in her office & I won't be scheduling the AS until then, when I will already be 18w.
Rants/Raves? I'm 99% sure I'm feeling movement now, and it's happening every day, though only a few times each day.
How are you feeling? Ok overall. Round ligament pain and back aches and also Braxton Hicks already. I know it's not abnormal, but I don't remember having them this early on with DD.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Free coffee, unless it's gross coffee, lol.
Any appointments? Questions? Nothing booked in the near future, but I will try to go get my flu shot now that I'm in week 16.
Rants/Raves? This week's rant is definitely how much it sucks to have a cold when you're pregnant. I went to the pharmacy and I couldn't even use the strong cough drops I usually take I've been waking up several times a night just because of all the mucus in my throat. On a happier note though, I feel like I have my apetite back again and nausea is basically gone! I'm also feeling a lot less worried now that I know that my husband and I will be able to be on paid leave together for at least the first 3 months. With having twins and all I was worried that I would be stranded at home and dependent on others to make ends meet, but now I feel like it will be doable + I love to have DH home.
How are you feeling? Besides being desperate for this cold to leave my body I've had some more head aches than usual, and I am actually finally starting to feel like the belly is tensing up and taking more of a "baby-belly-shape" which is exciting.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? I feel like these days I seldom lack one or the other (we have free coffee at work) but I even though I do enjoy coffee a lot, I could see myself ending up in more situations being starnded or lost if I didn't have wifi.
@sheepshepherdess I hope things work out with your insurance, it feels like such an unfair thing to have to worry about! Re mini-depressions, I've also been feeling a bit like that especially not being able to eat or cook things (which I felt was making me really upset at myself) but I try to focus on other things and not be too hard on myself. We're all just trying our best to deal with all the changes in our bodies etc.
@mrstmoose So jealous you can feel baby already! I'm just waiting to feel even that first flutter.
@honey_suckle when I was pregnant with DD, I didn't feel consistent movement until 21 weeks, but felt movement around 18 weeks. I also had an anterior placenta. This time, it's posterior and I'm a STM! With two babies in there, I am sure you'll start feeling something soon!
@honey_suckle oh no! I'm sorry you're sick as well. @eli_belle I'm SO SORRY you're having GB issues. I had mine removed six years ago and goodness what a relief it was!
Due date/Weeks: 4/15 (won't go past 3/24, but I like you guys so much I'm hangin' here) 16 weeks and some days
Any appointments? Questions? OB appointment tomorrow AM. Hematology appointment on Thursday. Q - anyone here ever need iron transfusions before? That was mentioned when they told me to go to hematology and it sounds HORRIFIC.
Rants/Raves? I'm sick and still not feeling these boys moving. All rants here this week
How are you feeling? Craaaaappy. Hoping that just sleeping as much as possible and drinking tea/eating soup will be enough to get me feeling better. We have a weekend trip to visit my BFF this weekend and I want to feel better.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Free WIFI. 1) We go over our data almost every month. 2) We make decent coffee at home so I rarely buy coffee out (when I'm drinking it) so our internet bill is most definitely higher than our coffee bill 3) We have some new coffee companies here at work so our company store has a wider selection of coffees to try.
Any appointments? Questions? An appointment after the holiday, still have to go in for first tri blood test and schedule an anatomy scan. I’m holding off on scheduling a neurologist appointment until after I see a chiropractor. I’m hoping I just popped something and that nothing else is going on.
Rants/Raves? I’m so tired of people asking me how I’m doing. I’m never doing good. First the nausea and now the migraines. And whenever I give the truth it’s like they all seem to know the answers to my problems
How are you feeling? Like shit. Fat, throbbing head, and exhausted... the only thing I can’t complain about is my skin, it’s starting to go back to normal.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Definitely free coffee. So many places already offer free WiFi, and I have unlimited data so even if they don’t, it doesn’t effect me much.
Any appointments? Questions? I have my anatomy scan on the 19th and another prenatal visit on the 29th. Just had my AFP blood draw and a prenatal visit on the 2nd.
Rants/Raves? The doctor didn't tell me I had to have a blood draw on Friday, and I ended up having both arms stuck since my endocrinologist needed labs for my thyroid as well. Had someone mentioned it at my last appointment, I could have scheduled both draws together and avoided the extra stick. I hate giving blood! But on the upside, I'm positive I've been feeling her move, which is amazing.
How are you feeling? Headaches, heartburn, constipation - hello second trimester. I do thankfully feel better than I did in the first trimester, and while I'm still tired at the end of the day, at least I don't feel like death warmed over most days anymore.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Give me all the free coffee! I also have unlimited data so wifi isn't an issue for me.
Rants/Raves? My 2 year old and 1 year old are starting to give my belly love and recognize that the mommy is pregnant in one of the books I read them. They give kisses and say they love baby sister already
How are you feeling? Great! I forget I’m pregnant all the time lol
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Definitely free WIFI. I would listen to much better music everywhere lol. Also, I don’t really like coffee and the very few times I do buy some it’s basically a milkshake with a dash of coffee. I don’t mind spending that very occasional money but I would use the WiFi constantly lol
Any appointments? Questions? Appointment on Wednesday I’m curious about if I’ve gained weight- it’s something I really struggled with last time, and I’m hoping this time I’ll have more success
Rants/Raves? Feeling the baby move these days, which is awesome!
How are you feeling? Sooo sick. Just feeling completely crappy, sore throat, etc. Pregnancy-wise though, I’m pretty much feeling fine other than tired
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Probably free WiFi. I gave up coffee after I nearly got an ulcer in the spring, now I only have it once a week.
Any appointments? Questions? I have my initial anatomy scan on Thursday, and I'm really excited to get to see this little woman!
Rants/Raves? I've been feeling LO kick really consistently, and it makes me so happy! She is already so different from her sister: N's movements were always somewhat infrequent, and she would kick more at home than anywhere else. This LO already feels like she's always on the move, and she doesn't care where we are - although on the train seems to be one of her most active times. I'm feeling a lot more connected to her, and I can't wait to meet her.
How are you feeling? Good! I never got second tri energy with N, but I have it now (or anyway, I have it until 8:30 when I pass out). On Sunday, I deep cleaned my entire house and my body hurt SO bad Monday morning - I have to remember that I can't always push myself as hard as I used to.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Oooo this is a good question. I gotta go wifi. A) Pregnant = limiting my caffeine intake, so I'm used to going without that. I've been abusing my data (because I putz around on my phone half the time while I'm commuting), and not having to pay for that would be so nice!
Any appointments? Questions? No appointments/questions this week!
Rants/Raves?
Sorry I've been a lurker. For a while I had poor habits on here that were initiating extra anxiety, so I took a long break. Hopefully I'm in a better space now.
I did want to pose a question if I could... I have been having a hard time working. I'm a full time pediatric speech therapist and it's just physically exhausting normally. Now that I'm pregnant, Ive had some moments of doubting if this is the right job for this time in my life. After many Monday cry fests I decided to ask for part time work... My boss hasn't gotten back to me and it's been 2 weeks. I had an interview this evening with a friend who owns a practice that has mostly older clients in schools (less rolling on the floor, more sitting in chairs) and she offered me a great hourly rate for significantly less hours (if I negotiated, I could practically have the same salary in 1/3 the hours). The hours might not be consistent, but it's a very tempting change.
Has anyone made a change like this? I'm thinking that flexibility would be better post baby anyway... Anyone see any major red flags I'm missing?
How are you feeling? Pretty good. Impatientlu waiting to feel this baberoni.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?
Any appointments? Questions? I had an appointment last week 10/31 and all was well. I've finally stopped bleeding (after more than 4 weeks) and I'm off pelvic rest! Next appointment isn't until 12/5, and I'll have my anatomy scan then.
Rants/Raves? I'm disappointed that I have an anterior placenta again. My favorite part of being pregnant with DD was feeling her move (when I finally could, at around 22 weeks) and it looks like I probably won't be feeling this little guy move for a while.
How are you feeling? Meh. Still haven't gotten that 2nd trimester energy boost that's supposedly supposed to kick in at some point. I'm perpetually exhausted and frustrated with myself that I don't feel motivated to do anything. I'm also just getting over a stomach virus that I picked up from a lady at work. (Please, don't come to work if you're sick!)
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Coffee, definitely.
Told my boss on Friday and the conversation could not have gone better! Now if someone else could come tell my coworkers for me that would be great. I’m too socially awkward for this
How are you feeling?
Pretty good. Feeling a lot of pressure in my abdomen the past few days. Assuming it’s just from my uterus growing and pushing on everything?
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?
I think I’m too picky about my coffee to really take advantage of free coffee, so going with wifi

I am in a different career situation so I have not experienced anything similar but my initial questions: If you rely on your current income would they be able to guarantee you at least 1/3 time? If you rely on your employer for benefits would this opportunity offer the same level of benefits? Any other fringe benefits you would be giving up?
My understanding is that speech therapists are in high demand so I am less worried about taking a bit of a step back at this point in your career, meaning I wouldn't expect any long term consequences of going part time now. There is a lot to be said about flexibility when your child(ren) are young. Between doctors visits, sick days, no school days, etc. having flexibility can be a great benefit. It also sounds like it would be beneficial for your own health and sanity.
@kayceebaby1 I am a nurse and switched to a less stressful job and went from full-time, to part-time, to PRN. It was the best decisions I ever made for me. I think if you can financially pull it off and will enjoy the job, go for it! If you plan on using daycare though, make sure you can find some nearby that offer part time, around us they make you still pay full time hours. We were blessed to have family as an option! Just make sure you consider everything and good luck!!
Had appointment yesterday, got to see baby on a portable ultrasound the size of a pocket mirror! That was pretty cool. Otherwise, the doctor referred me to a physical therapist for pelvic floor. Apparently, it’s really invasive. 😳
Rants/Raves?
Finally getting my appetite back now I’m just patiently waiting to get my energy back.
How are you feeling?
Big and tired...
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?
Any appointments? Questions? Not until after thanksgiving. I'll have my 20 week ultrasound then.
Rants/Raves? We are remodeling our kitchen and my DH is doing an excellent job. But some days I just can't handle it. I just want it finished. But we both work full time and it's hard to find time... I need to breath, relax, and not flip out on him. It will be finished in the near future.
How are you feeling? Large. Like way bigger than I was with my last at this time. I feel like you couldnt never tell I had a bump until 20 weeks. Now there's no hiding it.
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want? Definitely free coffee. I enjoy getting away from technology.
Anatomy scan on 11/30- seriously can't wait to find out what we're having!
Rants/Raves?
I'm in northern CA and there's another huge wildlife, it's far away, but the smoke is so horrible. Schools are all closed and I haven't left the house in 2 days. I had an awful headache today and my heart is breaking for everyone affected
How are you feeling?
Pretty good- really can't complain! Loving that I'm starting to show!
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?

Coffee.
Due date/Weeks: 4/18 - 16w6d
Jealous of you guys feeling movement!
Due date/Weeks: 4/16, 17+1

Done for the month
Rants/Raves?
Told my boss on Friday and the conversation could not have gone better! Now if someone else could come tell my coworkers for me that would be great. I’m too socially awkward for this
How are you feeling?
Pretty good. Feeling a lot of pressure in my abdomen the past few days. Assuming it’s just from my uterus growing and pushing on everything?
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?
I think I’m too picky about my coffee to really take advantage of free coffee, so going with wifi
If you rely on your current income would they be able to guarantee you at least 1/3 time?
If you rely on your employer for benefits would this opportunity offer the same level of benefits?
Any other fringe benefits you would be giving up?
My understanding is that speech therapists are in high demand so I am less worried about taking a bit of a step back at this point in your career, meaning I wouldn't expect any long term consequences of going part time now. There is a lot to be said about flexibility when your child(ren) are young. Between doctors visits, sick days, no school days, etc. having flexibility can be a great benefit. It also sounds like it would be beneficial for your own health and sanity.
Good luck in your decision. I'm rooting for you.

I can’t really have coffee... so I guess WiFi.
Due date/Weeks: 17W 1D
I enjoy getting away from technology.Due date/Weeks: 17
Any appointments? Questions?
Anatomy scan on 11/30- seriously can't wait to find out what we're having!
Rants/Raves?
I'm in northern CA and there's another huge wildlife, it's far away, but the smoke is so horrible. Schools are all closed and I haven't left the house in 2 days. I had an awful headache today and my heart is breaking for everyone affected
How are you feeling?
Pretty good- really can't complain! Loving that I'm starting to show!
GTKY: Would you rather have free wifi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?
Coffee for sure!!
