@avidlyuks36 I agree that is super rude, and even if it was true you still need nutrients and that requires food. My appetite has very slowly been getting better but there are still times i have no appetite and certain foods that i want nothing to do with.

@avidlyuks36 no offense, but your mom sounds like a jerk. I also haven't had an appetite for food in general (happened with my last pregnancy as well) and it just sucks.
@mrstmoose I am! I pretty much felt better right after I was done getting sick in the middle of the night. Really hoping it was just a fluke one time thing! 🙏
Yes it's rude --but you should have seen her on my wedding day. My maid of honor was surprised that I didn't have an eating disorder...lol. I'm glad there is someone else on here who has similar symptoms
@avidlyuks36 how rude of her. For what it's worth, I'm overweight, lost 7 pounds in the first trimester because I couldn't eat past 3pm and still haven't gained any weight.
@mermaidca Just got my first heart palpitation the other day. Haven't had these since Lyme disease, so this is fun.
@avidlyuks36 Yes, I have no appetite most days and nothing tastes good. I have to force myself to eat reasonable portions at meals. And for some reason vegetables, which I usually like, taste like poison.
@blueberrymomma I took a urine test at the doc. Turns out I have a UTI. I guess this can cause pelvic pressure and back pain. I'm on antibiotics now. Hopefully this will resolve it. Thanks for your suggestion!
18+1 and I am so hungry all the time! I have to eat before going to sleep or I will wake up starving in the middle of the night and have to prepare a 7 course meal! Still fighting the nightly nasal congestion and for some reason my unconscious body doesn’t just open its mouth to let in more air so I wake up short of breath because I’m breathing so hard to get air through my nose. I occasionally will get up for a couple of saline sprays and a good blow so I can get back to sleep. I have never had trouble sleeping before becoming pregnant so I am constantly bewildered that I’m waking up in the night and not immediately falling back to sleep!
I was up all night with crazy heartburn/acid reflux. Every time I would lay down it got worse. Finally managed to get a couple hours of sleep in but still have the heartburn this morning. And I can't find my tums. I didn't have it this bad with DD until around the 3rd trimester. (And for those who say lots of heartburn means a head full of hair; that wasn't the case with me-- DD was practically bald.)
@chrissdee Heartburn is the worst! I have it and Tums are doing nothing for me. A few years ago, a midwife told me about papaya enzyme, which I took but then read on We MD that it can cause miscarriages?!?
Boo! It seems as though my gallbladder issues are back with this pregnancy. I got really sick Halloween night after eating too much chocolate. Now any amount of fat is giving me digestive issues. Oh well. At least I know how to handle it since I had the same thing when pregnant with DS. Low fat diet from here on out...
@sheknows6, ouch, I feel your pain. Mine are finally starting to get better (I'm 17 weeks). My doctor suggested Excedrin Tension headache or taking daily magnesium. Hope you get relief soon!
@chrissdee I was having major heartburn yesterday too, to the point that I was popping tums all day. I thought it was too early for that, I know it didn't start this early last pregnancy. May need to start taking them with in my purse during the day.
@angelob88 I have been having massive heartburn issues for weeks. I don't go anywhere without my bottle of tums. I don't think i had it this early last time either.

Looking for suggestions or reassurance. At work I started having some pain in my belly. A cross between cramps and stabbing pain. Lasted for about an hour on and off. No bleeding. Mixed with the heart palpitations I wasn't feeling great. I have a desk job so I wasn't lifting anything heavy or on my feet for a long time to cause anything. I was going to drop the kids with my mom and head to urgent care after work but it's passed now. Not sure if it's worth checking out or if going saying "I had some pain hours ago but I'm totally fine now" would be laughable.

@mermaidca I'm not sure, kind of sounds like really bad ligament pain. I'd definitely at least call your doctor to ask, or if it happens again or you bleed go to ER.
@midway_mouse@chrissdee I know a ton of midwives that recommend papaya enzyme, and I take it regularly. Green papaya causes miscarriage, but it's only ripe papayas that have the enzyme that they harvest for the pill form, so that's not an issue. It's generally regarded as safe, even my midwife recommended it, but some OBs will still caution you. Canned (ripe) papaya works almost as well as the pills, but isn't as pleasant, at least for me!
@mermaidca If was just the one time and it's not accompanied by bleeding i would call your doc if they are still open or wait and call the doc on Monday. If it comes back or gets worse or is accompanied by anything else out of the ordinary i would probably go to urgent care/ER. I work a desk job too and I've had some pretty bad cramps/stretching that i have put down to bad RLP.

@midway_mouse I just have to make sure I eat something fairly hearty right before I go to bed and then if the sinuses cooperate, I’ll sleep through the whole night. I also recommend having a little Ensure meal replacement type of beverage midway through the morning to get you through to lunch! Now that I think about it, no wonder my butt is growing as fast as my belly hahah!
@mermaidca so, it might be ridiculous but I’d probably call and get it documented with my ob. I definitely felt uncomfortable for long stretches during the month or so before DD’s water broke at 25 weeks. I dismissed it because isn’t pregnancy in general uncomfortable? But looking back, I’m not sure if it was stress or some subtle sign of pending PPROM or RLP or nothing at all. (Probably wasn’t dehydration because I was much better that time about drinking water.) I wish there was more data for my MFM to look at.
All this to say that you probably aren’t experiencing what I did, and even if you are, it’s probably not anything serious, but I’d still make sure to document the timing/feeling of it with your doctor.
I have to change my schedule at work. No more evening shifts. I’ve thrown up the past few late evening shifts I’ve worked, but I’m just fine in the mornings. I really hope my manager understands.
So I’ve been suffering from horrible headaches. I tried caffeine, increased my water and Tylenol. Nothing has helped. So my doc prescribed me butalbital acetaminophen/caffeine. Has anyone ever used this before? Any side effects, liked dislikes?
@mermaidca, agree with the other ladies that I would call, but it sounds similar to what I've experienced too (almost feels like a cross between a pulled muscle/sharp pains directly right of my belly button). It's happened twice for me and then gone away by morning, so I feel silly calling. I haven't actually seen my OB yet, but my DH and sister (medical fields) think it's a hernia getting tweaked and then going back into place (I have diastasis recti also).
Definitely call and let them know about it! My doctor always asks me if I've had any unusual pains, but I always forgot to mention this one, hah.
@midwestmommy90 I've been getting them this past week too. I was at work with a patient when all of a sudden he offered me his Kleenex box and sure enough it had started and I hadn't noticed.
@mermaidca I always feel silly deciding if there's something to call the OB about but really it's part of what they do and worth the peace of mind to hear everything is ok
@mermaidca so that does sound like pain I had with DD, though not yet this time. But I agree—the nurses I call about my concerns are usually really sweet, helpful, and reassuring. And they do like to have things in your file. For example, I called in once with DD about having too many Braxton Hicks in a row, and they told me to come in if they got more intense, etc., and marked it in my file.
It’s reassuring to see what others are going through. I had a cramp a couple weeks ago while working out that worried me right side uterus area that lasted for a couple minutes I got one of the voluntary ultrasounds for $20 a week later and baby grew/was fine so I felt better about it but no blood and it didn’t continue so I didn’t contact my doctor. Also have had some headaches, which I never had pre-pregnancy and I’ve still been so tired! The second trimester energy boost that all these sites talked about has not been my experience! I just want to lay around, nap, sleep all the time.
@mermaidca just throwing this out as a possiblilty..... one of my ovaries to attached to insides from scar tissue. So I get very similar pains to what you described. I had it pre pregancy but it has gotten worse as baby/uterus grows. Or as others said it could be RLP, UTI, or just dehydration. So my many causes for pain when pregnant and some are very similar so it’s hard to distinguish. I’d definitively bring the pain up with your doctor and call if the pains continues.

@mermaidca Did you drink enough water? I always start cramping if I get dehydrated. Also could be RLP, but I agree with the advice others stated.
Anyone else getting nosebleeds? I have 1-3 daily and it’s annoying. I had them even worse with my last pregnancy also.
All this to say that you probably aren’t experiencing what I did, and even if you are, it’s probably not anything serious, but I’d still make sure to document the timing/feeling of it with your doctor.
