Finally caught up on the thread. I'm not the greatest at typing a lot while on the app and not my computer but I will say that I agree technology has its benefits from time to time but it's definitely creepy the way things get tracked. I swear all I see since my positive pregnancy test are baby ads or things similar. Plus things like the new amazon go store where you dont check out at the end of the shopping trip. You scan your phone when you go in, shop while it tracks what you pick up or put back, then charges your account when you leave. My friend went to the new one in Chicago, I'm weirded out by it.
Also, just watched the first episode of The Haunting of Hill House and it's super good, just the right amount of creepy to hopefully not give me nightmares.
@angelob88. I looooveed Hill House. Just a heads up- It was way more emotional than I expected. It did creep me out/ give me bad dreams but I watched it right in the middle of moving moving to an old house with very similar doorknobs to the ones in Hill House, lol.
So pretty sure I have a hernia... had sharp pain again last night near my belly button, and a bulge at my belly button that hurt to press on it. Unfortunately my sister (a doctor) says there's nothing they'll do about it until after I'm done having kids. My diastatis recti is also already more pronounced and I don't even have a major bump yet .
My dog is really shy and skiddish and was really freaked out. They let her in my fenced in back yard and somehow manged to squeeze through a 6 inch gap by the fence gate. She is a 55lb lab. She has never run before but I guess she can't handle strangers (she met them once before)

@kangstadt Oh no! Hope it doesn’t cause you too much trouble/pain.
I feel somewhat in control of my life today. Woke up early, got to school early, just finished my oatmeal, now working on a project that’s due at midnight (finishing it up when I get home!) and about to study a bit more for an exam I have in a couple of hours. Why can’t every day be this productive?
ETA storms predicted in my city tomorrow. I’m a little bummed. My parents just got a new house after going through SO much trying to find one, and we were all looking forward to giving out candy there. Hopefully it won’t be too rainy.
@kangstadt omg that sucks sooooo much. I’m really sorry.
Im wearing my first maternity dress of the pregnancy today. I took a picture and realized I’m already as big now (15 weeks) as I was at 20 weeks last time.
@lilpotatomama omg you sound so. productive. I’m so jealous right now!
The area I live is in has a high COL and is fairly crazy for childcare, so I ended up making our first daycare tour reservation for Friday. Some of it’s PGAL brain, I’m sure, but it still feels bizarre to be looking almost a year out. I’m so grateful that my parents want to help out so we have some flexibility.
@lin0442 - it's really not too early to look at daycares. I started about now with DD and there were places that we were going to be wait listed. I have been meaning to talk to our current daycare too.

Thanks ladies. I stress myself out a lot, so I'm trying to just ignore it right now, haha. Too much else on my plate as is!
@kosmo86, I feel you, our dog has serious separation anxiety and definitely needs to meet people a few times to be comfortable with them. Luckily he hasn't tried to run off at our new house, but he did a few times at my parents and it was nerve wracking. Glad she's safe!
@lilpotatomama, yay for productive days! I like to think I have a good balance of those and laze around doing nothing days... .
@professormama, I'm definitely bigger this time around already also. What maternity dress did you wear? I wish I could wear dresses to my job, I have a slight obsession with cute dresses and nowhere to wear them .
@lin0442, it's crazy how far out you have to schedule sometimes! My sister is still on a waitlist for next year and she put her name on back in July.
@lin0442 I've also been calling around to different daycares; since I'm a FTM and I live in a city, I don't want to risk being waitlisted and not have childcare when I go back to work! I don't think it's too early, especially if you have a similar situation!
@kangstadt I'm so sorry! Have you tried any sort of supportive belly banding/binding? I know there are a few products out for pregnant ladies that give support with muscle separation. My bff had it pretty bad with her second pregnancy and swore by her ab trainer.
@sheknows6, thanks, I may have to look into that. I think my abdominal muscles naturally had a slight separation even before pregnancy, but obviously I don't want it to get bad enough that I need surgery. I'm terrified of the idea of any kind of surgery (I think another reason I had a c-section nightmare the other day!).

Definitely look into physical therapy after birth!! I had a great experience resolving abdominal/core strength issues. It is amazing how much therapy can help!
@lilpotatomama I almost teared up at "I feel somewhat in control of my life today" because damn, is that a rewarding feeling that is hard to come by these days (and: hormones). Good for you!
@professormama My mind is BLOWN by how much sooner I'm showing now than I did with my daughter. At 13 weeks, I looked like I did at 19 (which is when I announced at work both times). I can't wait to do a week by week comparison, but I didn't even start taking belly pics until I was 16 weeks along with N! So this Thursday, we'll see how the bumps really stack up!
@kangstadt it’s a grey Isabella and Oliver (?) dress that I bought last pregnancy, so it’s like 5 years old now. It’s very body-con so I remember not being able to wear it late during my last pregnancy, which is probably why it fits now.
My 11 month old son has a double ear infection. 103 fever all day even with Tylenol and Motrin. Extremely fussy and the toughest day. Then to top it off, he choked on a strawberry. Like, full out choked. I had to do thrusts and almost call 911. This day blows. Stressful days like this happen when I'm pregnant and cant have wine.
@elmich3 oh no!! I hope your DS feels better soon, fighting ear infections are terrible. And the choking sounds so scary, we've been lucky with DD she came close when she was little but nothing that extreme, I'm glad you were able to get it unlodged.
@professormama I'm with you on showing early. I knew that second pregnancies showed earlier but I had no idea it would be this much. I'm popping more now than I did at 20+ weeks with my first. Been in maternity pants for at least two weeks now it feels like.
Olive Garden for me tonight! I'm doing nothing but looking forward to their soup at this point. My DH is lazy today (can't blame him) and doesn't want to cook so that means family night out for us!
@ashtuesday it’s so true! It just sucks that a lot of us are still feeling awful even though we’re all in the second tri at this point.
I had to buy a belly support band. The growth is unreal. I’m already becoming unstable and we aren’t even halfway there. I guess this is because, as my midwife said, I “have no torso, so the baby has no way to go but out!” (Love my midwife and this was said in good fun. I really don’t have much of a torso!)
That's cute, @professormama! I'm gonna live vicariously through other people's maternity clothes cause I'm too broke to invest in anything new or cute, haha.
Yikes, that's super scary, @elmich3! I hope he feels better soon and glad you didn't have to call 911. I really wish I could have a stiff drink tonight also!
Random question just in case anyone knows, would just a Bella band style compression support be the same or similar enough to the diastasis recti/hernia support bands I'm seeing online? I have a belly band from last time and if it means saving twenty bucks....
@kangstadt try it on and see how it feels support/compression wise! It could be, although I'm not sure. I know the bands that are designed for hernia support have a lot of compression. So it should be tight but not uncomfortable.
My pumpkin got 3rd place and I won a bottle of wine I can't drink lol.
In other news apparently my dog walker said there is a dead dismembered rabbit on my first door step. So I am totally freaked out. Either something killed it there or someone put it there and either thought scares me!

I was browsing nursery stuff and the boy/girl split on prints and stuff is kind of depressing. I wish there were more things that were ‘traditionally’ feminine looking but with more varied topics. An alphabet print I was looking at had roses for girls and robots for the ‘boy’s version’. Why can’t I get a pastel robot or helicopter or whatever? (DH and I are in STEM so we’re pretty sensitive to this lol) I love that there are are a lot of neutral options now, but I’d love to see some more variety in girl colored (for lack of a better term) things.
Related side point- why shouldn’t a boy have a rose (or any other flower) on his alphabet printout? They don’t have cooties.
@lin0442 you’d probably like Princess Awesome for future clothing choices. I think you might have to look for smaller producers/stuff not explicitly labeled “nursery” to get what you want. I might end up stealing some stuff from @ sageandgracedesigns on instagram (probably not the G is for G&T) because of the watercolor and nautical vibes that fit my aesthetic.
@kosmo86, save it for after baby is born! Wine gets better with age, right? And ew to the rabbit... do you have a lot of neighborhood stray cats?
Totally agree, @lin0442. I have a boy, so the same problem but other gender. He loves purple and Tru and the Rainbow Kingdom show, but boys clothes are so single track. Sports themed or dark colors seem to be it, at least in big store brands. Sigh!
AFM, I'd be totally okay if my boobs stopped growing already. I feel like I have giant melons on my chest and I'm not a fan... when my milk comes in, I may go in a corner and cry about my boobs.
Hey everyone! Sorry I've been quiet but I've still been lurking tons. A wonderful lady reached out and it just warmed my heart so I thought I'd check in.
@kangstadt@lin0442 I agree with all the boy/girl toys. I try not to buy my kids the "girl version" of toys but they do love pink and purple so sometimes that's the one they want! If this one is a boy they'll definitely be playing with dolls and having tea parties if they like it or not.

@kangstadt - I only have seen 1 stray cat but I live very close to some large woods and wildlife preserve so maybe from there? IDK
I can't say for boys clothes but girls clothes are getting better. Cat and Jack from Target has a lot more feminine "boy stuff" like dinosaurs, robots, sciences, etc. I try to buy an equal amount of 'boy color" toys and "girl color" toys

On kids clothes, my DD has plenty of boys clothes, she loves sharks, robots and outer space and they seem to be in short supply in the girls stuff. And boys pajamas. And the cutest boys Dino sweatshirt. I don’t understand separating by “gender”. This goes for her toys as well, one Easter she got a tool kit, her last birthday included a shark week theme playing giant stuffed shark.
Whatever she wants to like/play with is cool and I’ll fight off anyone who says otherwise.

Grrr wound up with a stomach bug. DH had it for just a few hours Monday morning, no vomiting just feeling yuck. But then I’m down and out for 36 hours getting sick every few hours :,( whhhhhy pregnancy immune system why.
ALSO it’s the first day of second tri for me, so I’m very grumpy about still feeling sick - pregnancy related or not. >:(
The good news is, my work was really nice about me needing to go home sick even though I have no accruals yet.
@florallimeade , ick, that's no fun! I hope you recover quickly.
For mamas who have felt the baby move already, about where did you feel the movement? I'm 17 weeks, but I have an anterior placenta. I think I just felt a kick a little to the right and above my belly button, but that seems high for where I think my uterus is sitting?
