Re: FFFC 10/26

  • @kvh22 I think baby curls often go away with a haircut. DH and I both had curly hair until our first haircuts, so we knew to expect it. It was a bit sad when she finally got a haircut, but her hair was getting crazy long and really tangly, so it was time. She still has very thick hair, and some of the under-layers have a little wave to them... I always wonder if it would grow back in curly if she shaved her head...

  • @missmcgonnagal my mil and I are both nurses and I'm the same. But I also am not really uncomfortable discussing much with anyone really. I mean, I have to ask random strangers when their last bowel movement was so it's just not a big thing lol. I would not however ever have my mil in the room. Or my mother. My dh isn't much help, but at least he's quiet 😂
  • This may just be due to how freaking annoyed I am right now. But I would totally fund the invention of a mute button for chatty children.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds Home ownership is kind of scary, and it definitely does suck when things mess up and you have to get them fixed. Our dishwasher isn’t draining and apparently the motor in our ice maker quit working. I was almost shocked at the quote they gave us. 😩 It’s worth it in the end though! And absolutely wish there was a mute button for kids!!
  • Diaclaimer: this probably makes me a terrible person.

FFFC: I have a coworker who is currently pregnant, FTM, and always humble bragging about things like the size of her new boobs and the former flatness of her belly. She's pretty much the human embodiment of the Pregnant Women are Smug song. Anyway, it is secretly very satisfying that she's starting to gain weight all over as she heads into third tri rather than just keeping her tiny bump. I know I am petty.
Omg. Thank you for sharing this song 😂 though I will say someone once asked me if I wanted a boy or girl with DS and then cut me off when I started to answer to say “well as long as it’s healthy right?” 😆

idk if that’s highlighted weird but sorry if it is, I just quoted. Annoying people are annoying and it’s nice when they have it come back their way. Especially in such a harmless way like this 🤷‍♀️

  • @lappymom2019 I am breaking out the maternity pants this weekend. I am so sick of being uncomfortable. I had to unbutton my pants while I was sitting at my desk for a bit. @megsb615 this thought has crossed my mind. My boys attract a lot of attention because they both have heads of thick curly hair. I’m biased of course but we get stopped by people gushing over them all the time. I have definitely had similar worries about what if the next one isn’t as cute/ doesn’t get the curls?
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds. Buying a house is totally legitimately scary!  My husband and I just closed on our first house at the beginning of the month.  It’s been this weird mix of scary and stressful and exhausting but also exciting and fun.  It’s kinda insane how expensive some stuff is though.  We need to have a new washer/dryer hookup put in and our back up sump pump needs to be fixed.  The plumber quoted us $5,000 for just those two things.  I couldn’t believe how expensive plumbing work is!
  • The guilt over attention between siblings is real. My oldest is beautiful with wavy hair and big eyes...but she's SO standoffish, gives the stink eye to anyone who tries to talk to her and is generally quiet and class when meeting new people. DD2 is the epitome of cute. She had crazy curly hair that we tame with product so it's these beautiful precious curls, she's got the pinchable cheeks, big grin, charisma to burn...any time she leaves a room she gives a big princess wave and has to make sure everyone noticed she's leaving. We *constantly* get comments on how adorable she is (most recent was just tonight at a fall festival) and I fear that DD1 will have animosity towards her because if it. Again it isn't even about looks, it's the personality. They are an introvert and extrovert respectively.

  • @Stormiewinter My son is the same with the thick hair and little curls. He’s just now starting to lose them more, but everyone has always talked about what pretty hair he has. I just hope this baby will be just as cute. I mean.. not all babies/kids are cute 🙊

@imrachellea I think about how their little personalities are going to be too, especially if this baby is a boy too. I would hate for people to compare them just because their brothers. I also really really worry about favoritism. My parents think DS hung the moon and stars, so I hope they’ll be just as attached to this baby. Husband’s family just had the first girl grandbaby come into the mix last month, and it’s already “princess” and “the boys better watch out”, and it drives me crazy. It didn’t help that it was husband’s sister who had the first girl. I almost hope we have a girl so she’s not the only girl. I’m petty, I know. I’m just sensitive, and it hurts my heart thinking about my children having their feelings hurt. Oh, emotions!
  • @imrachellea side note how do you tame the curls?? My daughter has (sometimes) gorgeous blonde ringlets but sometimes they just look a hot mess...😬

  • @bluesky24 We use curl calmer by Original Sprout. I guess it's like leave in conditioner, but specifically for curls. On Amazon it's about $10 for 4 ounces. It smells so good, her teachers always comment about how good she smells.

  • I don't have any motivation to do anything today. My assistant manager called out and I've been avoiding work all day today. I've got three hours left and I don't plan on doing anything with the rest of my day. I'm also ready for a nap.
